How to post multiple pics with texts in between on fanwall

Shout out to @attiton and @darkcc again for teaching me how to do this.

With the green light from Seon-ha, I let myself step up and do the illustrations to how to do a fanwall post in a simple way (as I am aware there may be other ways around but my mind is not bright technical enough to grasp that).

First, I need to quote Seon-ha’s encouragement words

I mean, you also don’t need me…you could do it on your own too
If you just want to use my documentation and use it for your own work, I won’t mind!

@Seeker

To do a fanwall post or a comment under a fanwall post, you should prepare your text on a text editor (I use Notes app on IOS because I can type on my Macbook and copy from my iphone, they sync).

My first K-crush was Jang Dong Gun, it was more than 2 decades ago when I saw him in “All about Eve”. By the way, that show is still in my all time fav list, it is a classic makjang melo with tropes used in a good way. Then it changed from Jang Dong Gun to Ji Chang Wook (and many in between), to Junho, to Woo Do Hwan, to Seo Kang Joon and ended up in Lee Je Hoon. Lee Je Hoon was the reason I made myself learn all this.

In case you don’t know, this is him (Imagine someone NOT falling for that smile!?)

I had to upload his GIF on a hosting site. I use imgur dot com (as Seon-ha advised). You go to the site (you don’t need to sign in), choose “New Post”.

Once the pic is uploaded, right click on the pic and choose “Cope Image Address”

or you click the three dot on the right corner of the image and choose “Get Share Links” and choose the link for Forums

The link should looks something like this

And the command line to embed an image in between text looks as below

Once you think you are ready to post, copy everything and paste it in the composing window under the fanwall tab on your DB’s page. Then hit POST.

This is what my preparation for this post looks like on my text editor

Look at how to do italic, bold, strikethrough texts and quotes.

You can choose existing GIFs on the internet, there are plenty.

If you want to create your own GIFs, remember you can create GIFs from short video clips.
There are several apps to create GIFs, I use tumblr app.

In the tumblr app, choose the icon at right bottom corner

Then choose “GIF” option on the followed screen

    And choose “Create a GIF”

Select a clip from your phone. There are several options for the GIF, choose what suits you.

Then hit the arrow, the GIF will be saved to your phone gallery.

Again, this is what the preparation for this comment on my text editor looks like

And here’s a bonus (ok, 2!!), as you are patient enough to reach this point 😉

Thanks to you and other beanies ☺️❤️

I remember when I was in graduate school, my supervisor refused to attend any training if the training materials were not put in powerpoint with pictures. There was that one course where she was given pages of texts and she didn’t go through it although she needed to complete the course to be able to do experiments 😅

And I felt I should share your workload 😚

Well, I’d like to think it’s not “my” workload anyway. I certainly don’t want it to be mine, I just saw people struggling. As it happened, my original instructions were on “Open Thread,” so I didn’t have access to inline images as you have done so expertly here.

I’m not justifying why my work pales in comparison to yours AT ALL. Nope.

I know with your sense of community and sharing, you’d somehow “consider” it something you’d do, although it’s not “your” work.

Yes, the PAIN (that you know well of) of being very limited in the comments on the main page triggered me to do those illustrations. At some later points, there will be new beanies who’d join this community and we will be relieved that those posts will be of help to them, like yours was immensely helpful to me that I couldn’t have done without.

We should call @reply1988 over here. She often is the first line of Beanie Defense on these things.

Reply, here’s a link to file for this illustrated post that @claire2009 made to help Beanies post images on their Fan Wall: https://www.dramabeans.com/activity/p/1455308/

🥰Thank you for the mention. I have saved it and hopefully others in the sweeping community (we did have a better name but I forgot to save it🫢) will also save the link for future reference when supporting the community.

I feel like community service of this calibre deserves its own kind of award. I hereby present you, @attiton and @darkcc with the inaugural 🫘Beanstalk🎋 award because a sprout just seems too small for this level of contribution.😄

I second the DB Wooga squad 🫘Beanstalk🌾 award for exceptional acts of service for the DB community.

Fantastic! I’m sure a lot of Beanies are grateful for this precious guide!

I use tenor gif but the principle remains the same 🙂

I’ve mentioned this point in a related discussion on the last open thread, thank you 🙂 I’ve always used my own GIFs and apparently it means more work.

Thank you, @claire2009 , @attiton , and all the others who have shared their knowledge and expertise in the true spirit of Beanie community. It would be wonderful if the folks who run the site would add a “how-to” or “tips and tricks” section gathering all this wisdom for easy reference. That way we don’t have to rely on individuals to keep re-posting the links whenever the subject comes up, and I don’t end up wasting precious Kdrama watching hours trying to find these posts. (I know…I can always bookmark them or copy and paste them into a how-to document. But having the information available for everyone to access would be a lot better.)

BTW – I have found that, in addition to “del,” you can also use “s” to create strikethrough text.

I have tried to use “u” to underline text, but that doesn’t seem to work.

Agreed. Under the “Resources” tab there should be “How to” section that walks users through simple steps, and under the “Contact us” tab we should be able to see an email to contact DB staff as well.
This request has been made by quite a few beanies to DB staff, but I’m not sure if they would actualise it.
