My respiratory therapist started Arthdal Chronicles. I told her I dropped it. Should I try again, Beanies? Cute puppy Yang-Yang for Tongue-out Tuesday!
From what I can see of him propping her head up, it’s probs the make out session they had the night before their wedding, when she was playing around and showing off to him her qipao (traditional Chinese wedding gown) during the finale episode
Hmmm…I don’t think so @bebeswtz. I just scanned through the final ep. I don’t think this one was in there. There were a lot of kisses in that last ep though. #surprised. A lot of them, WeiWei wasn’t doing all that much. It felt like she was just there while YangYang was going for it. lol.
@kimbapnoona, do you remember which ep that kiss was from?
I remember watching a bts vid with Yang Yang practicing landing on top of Zheng Shuang but not quite mastering it in the way the PD wanted. I wonder that’s why there is a weird cut 😆
You know, C-Dramas have come a long way since Love O2O. I remember how crazy I was about it when I found out about it. That’s because it subverted so many tropes and it had a gay storyline. I was willing to forgive it so many missteps. In hindsight, I think I might lower my very high 9/10 score to 8.5 maybe.
Yeah, I am certainly encouraged by the rapid evolution of Chinese rom coms since Love O2O, but I do still love rewatching bits of it. I think it is deserving your 8.5 score, @hades! 😂
I am still amazed how KO and Hao Mei loveline flew under the censorship’s radar, and cannot wait for Yang Yang’s new drama Falling in Love With You is The Best Thing I Have Ever Done!
It wasn’t explicit, it was made to look more like brotherly love (as if KO was trying to look for a long lost brother or something) more than anything if a viewer didn’t really get it or didn’t really look too deep into it, and most people wouldn’t think twice to look too deep because it was 2 side characters, and side characters are usually skimmed upon and not looked at into detail because there’s just too many side characters in a(ny, not only this one) Chinese drama for viewers to even care in detail about a lot of times
In a one-country/ two systems place such as China-Hong Kong…
Mainland China: Doesn’t recognize same-sex marriage or common-law status. The only exception to that is Beijing, which provides dependency status of same-sex partners. Yet, nothing about legalizing same-sex marriage
Hong Kong: Recognizes and provides the same benefits to same-sex partners of government employees and they would for opposite sex partners, but that’s about it, nothing about legalizing marriage
@ally-le homosexuality is legal in so far that same-sex sexual activity is legal and it’s not longer considered a mental illness. The problem is the stigma attached and perception of homosexuality–and I would imagine broader queer life–as something amoral is still quite pervasive. Filial piety takes a toll on many gay men and women especially with the expectation of grandchildren and the “shame” that comes with having gay children. It’s so bad that even though it was outlawed 4 years ago, gay conversion therapy is still prevalent, and there are estimated 20 million sham “heterosexual” couples in China. It doesn’t help that the government has no current intention of legalizing gay marriage or even allowing the representation of gay couples in dramas etc. So while it’s not illegal to be gay, it’s not easy to be gay in China.
@bebeswtz, while the gay storyline wasn’t explicit, it wasn’t exactly ambiguous. KO was perusing Hao Mei and Hao Mei may not exactly have understood his feeling for KO. It wasn’t bromance territory. It was more than that without spelling it out.
I’m impatient and started getting way confused with all the different characters. Like my RT, a couple of the guys look the same to me and I’m lost for a few seconds every time they’re mentioned. I’m on ep2.
Ah I see. It happens. I was confused when I first started kdramas (or was it saguek?) too. Perhaps you should give it another shot since the first two episodes really just introduces our main leads. From then on, whenever someone important shows up, their names shows up on screen too.
You might like it better if I tell you that one of the guards from The King Loves is in it (but he’s the one wearing the mask). If you liberally use ffwd it would be a quick watch.
I haven’t started watching it but after reading some posts, I shelved it for now. Is it worth watching? I’m at that point where if a show, to quote Marie Kondo, doesn’t “spark joy”, I just dump and not finish it.
