Perfect Marriage Revenge

Episode 5

This episode of PMR may as well have been named Regret vs. Pride, same as Castaway Diva.

Even though it had a lot of story and backstory packed in but this episode felt somewhat slow.
The last one-minute sure perked things up. Moreover, the preview looks promising and we do seem to be entering the famed villan era with “Revenge” mode ON.
Yah! High time, we will be halfway down the road next episode.

While Yoon Shi-yoon got tons of love from me and many many others and was much beloved in The Baker King, which was admittedly as makjang as makjang can be, the overpowering love was for Kim Tak-gu as a character and Yoon Shi-yoon as an actor and a RL person and not particularly as an ML in the drama.
Infact I was convinced I could never ever fall for any makjang ML like ever.
Cue the entry of PMR in my life with a vroom and BANG!!

Both Sung Hoon and Do-guk have been a revelation. Every week for the past three weeks I am shocked each time I hear the timbre of his voice which I admit affects me to the core. I am almost positive he has done some voice training or has a vocal coach or something.

Do-guk is like a fantasy DIY ML one never knew one wanted but he’s so REAL.

Halemoni is awesome as always and is falling for the charms of the stray cat daughter-in-law.ย

We had some interesting tidbits in the episode:

– People hiding in cupboards.

– Skeletons falling out of cupboards.

– Evil step mother sure has very clear motivations and her modus operandi of drugging / poisoning people seems unchanged.

– It’s a wonder evil step-daughter survived with apparently no ill affects. Luckily, she might not have taken mommy’s pills or if she did just strewed them about.

– Evil step-brother seem cool but also one-note. At least he uses his cane very well.

– Evil step-sister deciding to go after Evil step-brother. They do seem a match made in hell.

– Ah ha … is Yi-joo sketching the driver of the black car … and is he someone familiar.

– Shaman with a doll.

– Secretary Specs apparently deciding that he is Team Yi-joo after all.

– Omo … mwoya … what is this threesome of her blind date which apparently isn’t what it seems as per evil step-sister.

– Basically all fun and games.

This episode felt like it was setting the pieces for the final action, 🎬ย  and most scenes seemed weirdly cut short or incomplete or hurriedly shoved in.

I do wish Yi-joo would hurry up and get a move on firstly her ML and secondly her revenge … palli palli.

There was some good action ‼️
Step Bro cane to the chest of Past hubby‼️
ML kicking Step Bro knocking him down ‼️
Evil Mom was looking good this episode. She looks good in pink. She spilled the Birth secret too ‼️
Grandpa blocks Evil Mom from photo and cabinet hideout ‼️
Evil Sis & Step Bro 👀
ML has Trauma at Sea , Trauma on Land, Trauma in Air next ?
What about Evil Sisโ€™s Blind Date ?

–Haha I actually thought this episode moved very fast and packed in a lot of good stuff!! The ML keeps saying the most heart-fluttering things. I love his voice, too ❤️

–Stepsister seems to have gone full-on “let the world burn” – I hope we’ll see her get her comeuppance!! Ex-fiancee is smarmy and punchable, as another Beanie said.

–The revelations seem to have come pretty early – maybe they’re misdirection?

–I think hot glasses secretary is playing both sides with that call to the FL, and he seems to be the source of 90% of stepmother’s evil (good) ideas – he seems to be the real brains behind the schemes!

“Let the world burn” definitely the path of the evil step-sister but I have my doubts if she can get her claws in the ev step-brother.

Although a Beanie had already guessed that Yi-joo is the father’s biological daughter it seems as if the father is not aware of it.

Absolutely it seems too early for “real” secrets to be tumbling out right now.

Secretary is playing both sides for sure. But I feel as if the actual “brain” is someone else. Grandfather doesnโ€™t seem like it, is it the ML?

I think he is playing his OWN side. I am not sure what that is.
But I suspect it’s a good side, somehow.
OR maybe like, a bunch of people have past lives of being mistreated and are taking revenge in different ways. Like, what if the brother is really angry about something that happened in a timeline only he remembers? :-O

I wasnโ€™t expecting the marriage to take place so early in the run if the show, but I like it! Looking forward to how that changes the coupleโ€™s dynamic and also how it opens up the next part of their revenge. No longer is it about fighting just to get married. They have more clarity on what the other side is up to, and I canโ€™t wait to see what they can do with legally joined forces.

I do hope this “marriage” preview is actually for Episode 6 and not a generic upcoming episodes preview. 😂 it would not be the first time that happened.

Everything seems speeded up in the drama which makes us constantly second guess ourselves.

It’s like the writers heard us all say “makjang on speed” (in both senses – velocity and drugs) and said, “oh, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

@attiton is right, the first wedding dress was so much better – truly lovely, and I normally hate kdrama wedding dresses.

        Bring on the honeymoon hijinks.

The better make the marriage as fluffy as possible and have them wreck havoc together.

I was partially convinced that she was โ€œdreaming that marriage sequenceโ€ in a sickbed fever dream of sortsโ€ฆthe preview suggests otherwise, butโ€ฆ.

The whole spaced out vibe indeed spelt “nightmare”. I was half hoping she would practice “Hermรจs” for the marriage. 😄

What really got me was that that was NOT the dress she had on in the fitting.

Iโ€™m sitting here thinkingโ€”but then is Do-guk also dead? Does he remember like she does? Or is he remembering a future as a past? @darkcc may also have opinions hereโ€ฆ.

Also, since I agree with @hopefulromantic that Secretary Kim (letโ€™s not forget thatโ€™s Hot Glasses Sex-retaryโ€™s real name) is the real brainsโ€ฆwas he INVOLVED in the car crash?

[I reposted this because I had previously gotten so emotional, I didnโ€™t even finish my thought about Secretary Kim 😅🙃 Iโ€™m cracking myself up here because ITโ€™S TRUE]

Oh right oh right @darkcc. Iโ€™m mad that youโ€™re all โ€œspoilt.โ€ Why did you do that to MEEEEE? Did you know it was all about me? Harrumph.

I mean, I feel like nothing would surprise me with Secretary Kim revelations – I feel like anything is possible!!! Any P.G. Wodehouse fans in this thread? There’s a secretary Baxter in his Blandings series who is described as “the efficient Baxter,” and whose spectacles can pierce through to the very soul, Lol 😆 I’ve been reminded of him currently!!

What if Do-guk got sent back to an earlier point in time than Yi-joo? A point thatโ€™s significant to his stepbrother trauma? And heโ€™s been waiting for Yi-joo to โ€œcatch upโ€ with him? I donโ€™t know โ€ฆ time slips can make my brain hurt 😂

            @marysadanaga

Time slips are always tricky. It does seem Do-guk was already “waiting” for Yi-joo.

I thought she switched dresses bc she wouldnโ€™t want to wear one that punchable ex-fiancรฉ confronted her in. He was truly awful in that scene.

Ah, @marysadanaga here we are againโ€ฆat interpretive ODDS 😘

I mean the preview does suggest this was the โ€œrealโ€ wedding, but if so, I will still assert that the first dress looked way, WAY better on her.

As for Punchable Face, yeah, he was despicable, but I totally thought to myselfโ€”at least he found a personality!!!

I’m sorry but this ML has nothing to do (in my heart) compared to Kim Tak Gu / YSY. Nothing.
I’m not kidding, I’m not fond of the main leads in PMR yet. They remind me of main leads in many bad Spanish series/soap operas 😅 (I have not watched Turkish shows).
