Episodes 7 and 8

Once again PMR lives up to being makjang on speed. There is just sooo much story and plot and happenings but amongst all those some awesome home truths neatly slipped in.

OTP – past perfect

Our presently dead (or coma-ed or amnesia-ed or whatever-ed) leads are leading a past perfect life or as perfect as the evil bunch will allow.

Yi-joo is a busy lady making plans (where’s the fabled revenge?) and doing things like:

– Wrangling a painting from evil mom to present to Sextretary Kim who looks at it like this.

– Slaps one rude lady and drinks water in front of other ladies making offensive remarks in the cooking class.

– Going out to buy “paint” and “sketching” while Do-guk cooks for her, which she eats unconsciously before he has had a chance to taste it.

– Plucking gray hair from Daddy’s head for DNA testing.

– Having random conversations (plural) with not-to-be husband while standing on the road. Although to be fair the second convo proved useful.

– Cooking for Halemoni.

– Her plan to take over the art gallery may have worked but evil step-mother got grandfather declared as suffering from dementia hence unable to transfer shares to FL thus foiling her takeover of Hanwool.

Do-guk is just such a cool ML that everything he does – even the standard ML tips and tricks – look and feel fresh and new because he’s the one doing them. He ticks of all the boxes in the How to be a K-drama ML playbook.

– His wife is his home. I saw the My Dearest finale right after PMR and had 🤦‍♀️ moment when JH called GC his hometown.

– The way he looks at Yi-joo, cooks for her, tastes the food for her, protects her is just so swoony.

– So glad he put down the evil step-brother both at home and at work. Called it – I knew that scum evil bro was lying through his teeth about being hurt because of Do-guk.

– Minor quibble – why no sexy times this week?

Home Truths and Homilies

– The ML family wasn’t exactly welcoming to the secondary union of the evil siblings of the leads, even when they exposed the contract marriage of the leads courtesy some handy snooping by the not-to-be husband.

– In turn ML’s evil bro got exposed for lying about his injury (at home) and professional incompetence (at work).

– FL’s evil step-sister was exposed for planning and plotting against the FL.

–  ML’s mom roundly refused a divorce of the leads proposed by the evil mom.

– The not-to-be husband learned some hard lessons about his family and FL’s evil step-sister. I feel like slapping him each time he comes on screen.

– I liked how ML’s sister swiftly and competently sued evil step-sister, not-to-be husband’s sister and rando office girl (who like to give ML snacks – which he promptly puts in the bin!) for maligning the FL.

– I wish FL’s dad was not being drugged / poisoned but apparently this go-to method of the evil stepmother is working and she now has authority to act as chairman on his behalf.

Random thoughts and observations

– I love Halemoni and the flashback of her working at a construction site, but what’s with her clutching her heart now and again to break up family fights.

– Why are we not seeing FL’s only friend and ML’s cousin on screen? I miss her.

– Why do we need to see not-to-be husband’s mother sticking eyes on plushies and sister wearing a baseball cap which would make her invisible. I forgot does he have a father and if so why is he invisible.

Speculations aka What I think

– Presumed reveal of cooking teacher as FL’s mom got postponed to next week – I think.

– FL and Sextretary Kim are hanging out like chingus, why? Meeting in cafes, gifting / accepting paintings, finding old cook – ain’t it a bit too chummy.

– So evil siblings plans are exposed but they have new ones in place, I presume?

– Is evil step-mother also a time traveller – what did she mean by “you have crawled back again”.

– I do hope evil step-mother is exposed at work too. ML’s mom did a fabulous job of exposing her at home while drinking tea and having a fashion face-off in bridal white dresses.

    Really, so much happens!!! But it still feels like it’s paced really well, and that the writers have a plan for wrapping it up (*fingers crossed, knock on wood*).

      Each week I’m amazed by how much “story” the drama has had to tell. Just two weeks (four episodes) and we will be done and dusted. Kicking up our heels and drinking champagne! (*fingers crossed, knock on wood*).

        Each week the writer manages to calm my finale anxiety a little by delivering another set of awesome episodes. Also — the fact that random high school girl got sued too? That’s attention to detail that I can get behind.

    There has to be some connection, it’s not romantic , could be past life .

    We have to see Stupid Ex’s Mom gluing eyes onto toys to fully understand how poor they are, that she’s reduced to such a base level for money after expecting to cash in on the Hanwool connection. Her dead husband was the Hanwool family chauffeur and the kids grew up together. This just makes me think that there must be a past story involving a car wreck coming. Or that the husband isn’t dead, Evil SM somehow “disappeared” him and he’s her own ex-BF who set the fire and lives hidden as her private hit man.
    🤣🤣🤣 Nothing is too outrageous for this show!

    Swoon the Hoon is FANTASTIC, lol. Also the way you succinctly put this together. A lot has happened, goodness. I love this for us!!!
