forget about not taking cars.. why did ji-hoon run outta the most imp interview of his life?!? I mean he could’ve just called HJ & asked to get her…i mean she didnt even ask him to come!
but i guess kdrama logic implies that girl waiting for pick up trumps career and that’s the only way t o show true love.. sigh
Knetz not happy with TBH for completely different reasons then me. They want YSY to have more screentime to make him the obvious main lead and hurry up the plot/romance. I like that there isn’t a main character, I don’t think YSY is outshining everyone else or something either, I could even do with less screentime for him especially now that he’s lost about 50% of his charm with most of his character’s 90’sness gone. I like the slow pace with the plot (I really don’t care all that much about the money and the mystery around HJ’s disappearance) and I would like the slow pace with the romance if it wasn’t teetering back and worth between 3 different love interests and making a big deal with this game of who gets there first (why spoil your cliffhanger in the previews though lol). I just want more comedy and heartwarming moments about family and the struggles of young people like we had in earlier episodes. I want JH and HJ to connect as father/son and see GJ get jealous over it. I want JH and BH to reconnect as mother/son and get rid of the distance between the two of them. The reason I was shipping JH-WS (idk if I even ship anyone anymore, getting so tired of this bs) was because it was simple and sweet and fit better with the tone of the earlier episodes. It could’ve been so easy: WS starts noticing JH more now that they are living together, JH gets courage to pursue WS from HJ, if there must be a 2nd love interest have it be MJ (but not where WS has feelings for MJ, just as a trigger for JH’s jealous misunderstandings). It could’ve happened quietly in the background without needing to focus too much on the romance. But no they have to have this gross and ridiculous father/son love triangle that just wrecks havoc on the relationships they have and were building. And HJ has to get the girl because he’s YSY, he’s the main character, it’s a more epic romance that crosses time and space! Which means more angst because of the time travel problem and way more time that must be spent on the romance compared to the simple one of JH-WS. And we can forget about HJ-JH ever developing a father/son relationship, how can JH get over this (shove Hyeri at him?? gross). Even if JH-WS are endgame (which it doesn’t seem like after this ep) I won’t be happy. I mean especially if they are endgame what was the point of all the nonsense love triangle!! Sorry I just had to get that all off my chest.
Sorry to those still enjoying TBH a lot, but there’s just so many things I wanted this drama to do, that it seemed like it was going to do, that it isn’t doing now, so I’m really getting disappointed and frustrated. Most of all I wanted it to focus on family and friendship not romance. I wanted it to derive it’s angst and emotional conflicts from the obvious issues that were already there in the setup (HJ’s disappearance and reappearance, JH’s connection to HJ, the dynamics of JH’s family, the struggles of youth, ect.) not from a forced love triangle/square that doesn’t make any sense and that I could not care less about.
While I have no ship in this sea (I don’t really like Woo Seung.) all of the romance plot lines are falling flat for me. I was hoping for strong bromance (MC Drill is not letting me down on that front) and father/son/father shenanigans.
The fact is I stopped at episode 3 because I was sensing it. I decided to wait for further development before deciding what to do with this drama and now I am sure: I won’t watch it. I hate love triangle and even more in this kind of show where, it would ruin the plot more than anything.
Now, I am just glad that I made this decision.

I feel like the writers felt pressured to have romance be central to the story and to have HJ get a loveline since he’s the biggest star among the cast.
It is funny how I’m also seeing people criticizing ji hoon for kissing WS ( as seen on the preview), I understand there are different ships, but why bash characters just cause you don’t like them as otp?
Anyway to reply to your post, I was actually thinking they would go for HJ-WS anyway since YSY is YSY, but it kind of looks like shoved on your face, the romance angle that is. May be part of the reason is, I don’t see any chemistry between hj and ws, they don’t have any link whatsoever, (so I don’t know why they should be the otp, since there isn’t any factor which screams that they should be together). Whereas, for ji hoon – WS, ji hoon always takes care of her, looks out for her, he stood there in the busy streets looking for her, thinking she may be lost without her glasses, but never even says that he cares, and they have been friends since school days. At times I felt that she likes him, like that kiss when she was staring at his lips unaware of her ownself. Or she was a bit jealous maybe when hyori was snatching away the doll from him? I don’t know. I haven’t seen any of the writer’s past shows, so can’t predict how this is gonna work out. But whatever it is, I’m truly fed up with the drag between the trio, I wish they solve this angle already and let me enjoy the hilarious antics of the show which made me love it in the first place, now for last two weeks, the show went all reply-ish on us, and it honestly takes away the enjoyment of the show. If it’s going to be soo much predictable like I assumed first, that HJ not JH’s dad, hence HJ-WS would happen, and JH ends up being YJ’s son, if the plot ends up being so much cliched, then what’s the point of making a show, and what happened to originality? If HJ was JH’s dad, that would have opened doors for much more hilariousness. I know I shouldn’t have much hopes left anymore, but I truly hoped, the writer would surprise me in a good way. Now I don’t think that would be the case anymore. -_- Nevertheless, if not JH-WS, I would rather take WS-MJ lol.
I think HJ-WS have chemistry, but that isn’t enough to carry a relationship. Chemistry comes in a lot of different forms, and to me there’s is more of a bickering friendship type chemistry. Plenty of other dramas have that too and can develop it into a believable OTP, but here there has been basically no romantic development between the two, so I don’t buy that either of them have any feelings for each other. It’s like their “feelings” only show up in a handful of super cliche moments that feel way out of place with the rest of the show and that are only romantic because they are imitating other romantic dramas. But the writers don’t seem to realize that in other dramas it’s not the moments themselves that are romantic, it’s romantic because of the characters involved. Because we’ve seen that these characters are developing feelings for each other even when they are not on screen together. I’m not going to say that the development between WS-JH has been much if any better. But at least one half of that couple has believable feelings that have been clear to the audience from ep.1. I still do think HJ will be JH’s dad, it’s pretty obvious with their many similarities, but it seems like that interesting and original plot point has been completely sidelined in favor of a ridiculous love triangle. Honestly starting to think WS just doesn’t deserve any of these guys, JH, HJ, or MJ. She’s really been pissing me off especially on the hiking trip.

Should I watch Liar & his lover? I\’m a bit uncomfortable with the age dif. & I tried the manga ages ago, but couldn\’t make it past ch.1 pg.53 (look it up if u are curious but it may scar young-ins)
Also does it differ a lot from the manga if anyone has read it and seen the drama? I didn’t really read the manga, but I did skip to some later chapters and read them and asked friends who were fans of it what happened and generally just have an awful impression of it.
I didn’t read the manga, so I can only speak for the Korean drama. It was wonderful! Very well written, a clear artistic direction and great acting; and a satisfying ending. So many dramas start on the right foot and end up on the wrong neck because they simply diverted off to “what the heck?” land … I say, give it a try! You barely notice the age difference and I heard they handled the story differently from the original. 🙂
If you are right then it’s definitely nothing like the manga because the manga is none of those things lol. The age difference is less than in the manga (remember her being like 16 and him being like 25 in the manga), but her being in high school still makes me a little bit uncomfortable with it. I’ll give it a try though. Is the ex-girlfriend in it and if so is she terrible? She was absolutely insane in the manga.
The age difference isn’t very in-your-face in the show.. plus it helps that Lee Hyun Woo sometimes looks like a kid! Try it for sure… maybe watch 4 episodes and then take a call..

While waiting for 7DQ, I\’m watching Super Daddy Yeol because I have a newfound love for Lee Dong Gun. It\’s cute so far, I always like shows where a character learns to be a parental figure to a child.
Yeah, that’s why I needed to see him in something fairly light-hearted where he can be happy and sane, since I know he’s pretty much doomed to suffer in 7DQ. And Super Daddy Yeol is just what I wanted.

Father and son can both rock nerdy glasses. I just want this drama to skip to the cute father/son bonding moments. I don’t care if it doesn’t make sense, I’m shallow.

But really, what is this show doing? Shouldn’t there be more bonding and less triangles? I wonder, if writer thought that for ratings main relationships have to be romantic

Well, at least my ship is sailing. So proud of my Ji-hoonie for finally confessing to Woo-seung. I kind of want her to reject him, just so she will have to work to earn him back.
