Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #4

javabeans: So here we are with the last giveaway in our five-year anniversary extravaganza! Phew, I’m tired. All this organizing is exhausting. Next year Dramabeans is just gonna have to deal with a store cake and a third-rate magician.

girlfriday: Just no clowns. That’s no way to spend a birthday.

javabeans: Now I know how Santa feels. Well, maybe without the drunk crazy.

girlfriday: Maybe this is why he drinks.

javabeans: Who knew it was work giving stuff away?

girlfriday: Well I’m inherently selfish, so not me. But it WAS really cool to read everyone’s thank you’s to our hard-working contributors and guesties. Thanks for giving them so much love!

javabeans: Yes. It makes us feel better for loading them down with recaps. What, this recap factory doesn’t run on unicorn dust and fangirl dreams, you know.

girlfriday: No, it runs on the blood sweat and tears of the few willing to be paid in Dramabeans Dollars, aka Abs Photos of the Day.

javabeans: Anyway, this is our last giveaway to celebrate our fifth birthday, which means this is your last chance to enter to win a birthday giveaway prize!

girlfriday: For the last big hurrah, we’re giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, so you can watch dramas, listen to kpop, and read Dramabeans wherever you go! If you end up in rehab because of it, we will disavow all knowledge of enabling your habit.

javabeans: Enter at your own peril.

And now, for our winners. Congratulations to…

  • Jules (aka snoozit), winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • Missyu_who, winner of the other premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • and Carinne, winner of the iPod nano (with javabeans playlist).

Giveaway #4

Question: What do you want to see on Dramabeans in 2012? This is your chance to tell us that one thing you’ve always wanted to see on DB or what you want to see more of this year. Maybe that’s more of the same, or maybe you’ve got a wild ‘n crazy out-there idea. We are not averse to crazy. (As always, please use a valid email in the comment form. No need to tell us where you live this time.)

Prize: A 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7.0 Plus.

Winner announced: Sunday, January 29, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

I would love an underrated drama of the year post where by the end of each year, you choose the drama of the year that was most underrated, but worthy of a good watch. I find myself attracted to these dramas but can hardly find posts on them. It can be part of the end of year reviews, but should receive it's own post.
Oh, and the mobile site has been upgraded so THANK YOU, now the uploaded pics don't have to be cut off!

i feel like what i'm saying here has essentially already been said BUT i'll just say it anyways. i lovelovelove how y'all have branched out and started doing recaps of things aside from just dramas, aka your variety program recaps. i don't have time to watch 1n2d so i seriously love being able to read your guys' recaps and laugh along even though i don't have a chance to actually watch it. i also really LOVE your guys' podcasts...they make me LOL so much and it's nice to know that you guys are super dorky and real people (who get drunk). hahahahaha. i also like how the db family has grown in terms of "official staff." it's nice to get different points of view (and it makes it possible for readers to get to know the used-to-be-guest writers better).

honestly, dramabeans has been my go-to place for recaps and news abt dramaland for years but this year, y'all have really stepped up to the plate in terms of expanding what you have to offer. this is seriously an awesome site and you guys really are worthy and do deserve your strong fanbase^^

Congratulations!!!

If there's anything I would like to add to make this site more spectacular than it already is, uhmmm... I would really really love to read a drunken recap of those sucky dramas that have polluted my eyes and ears over the years! hahaha! I really loved the drunk podcasts so I was thinking that drunk recaps would be awesome, especially of those dramas who sucked the happiness in me whenever I remember that I've watched them.

More power to you dramabeans! <3

Definitely love what you all put out day in and day out. But, I would love to see more movies reviewed, as many have already suggested.

I feel like I'm so immersed in the drama mindset that I'm truly surprised when I stumble upon a good movie, without knowing the down-low about it before it's in production.

Though I love dramas, movies have their own special place, especially for fans like me, who grew up with Hollywood bombarding their propaganda all over the media until I just had to watch a movie or two a year.

Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. It is truly appreciated! Happy Birthday Dramabeans! Looking forward to many more years of witty writing, chic analysis and the chance to literally nod my head in agreement or bellow with laughter at all your serendipitous musings.

Love you all and Happy Lunar New Year!

Continuing Happy Anniversary Wishes everyone!! Aw heck, guys -- if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But since you asked...

The Podcasts are awesome!! My vote is for MOAR... and maybe pull in a guest (or two) to comment after a significant drama has wrapped (like when MoonSunPuppiesCutiePies ends its run) to get an 'outside world' take on the show. :)

To KEEP UP: i would love it if dramabeans keep up the good work for a really fast recap and hilarious comments. its really amazing how you guys did it and make us happy :) thankyou.
dramabeans also have up to date news about new casts of dramas and movies update. i also love how dramabeans include recaps about awards and red carpet outfits. COOL!

I WISH: dramabeans could give us more recaps about drama. since i know dramabeans only recap some dramas which is already awesome. but i'd love to see more recaps, i know its hard, sorry. but Fighting!! :D
i also want to see more movie review. 2012 had many great k movies! :) also if possible, could dramabeans make somekind of challenge in rookie drama recaper ( did i spell it right?) it works like this: we all get to recap a drama which dramabeans didnt recap, and sent it to dramabeans via email or something, then the best one will be published on site! :) thats all i can say,

thankyou dramabeans! :*
happy 5 year anniv!!

What would I like to see in Dramabeans in 2012....
It is hard because I really love what you guys do at dramabeans.com. I love to read your guys comments at the end. I love reading your recaps.
But I think I would like to see some posts on the couples in the Korean entertainment industry. It would be cool to see the updates of the openly dating couples of Korea. I love seeing the wedding posts. I would love to see posts about the ratings to see which dramas are duking it out at the top. But to see the opinion of dramabeans.com because lets get real sometimes the dramas at the low end of the ratings end are really some hidden jewels. I think it would even be cool to see you guys write about who you think the best actors and actresses of the Korean acting industry are. Not who is the best looking or who is the most popular but those that can bring you to tears in a single scene.

This is easy:
-More boys. Particularly more of the beautiful men that are my main reason for watching dramas.
-More JB/GF chat transcript-y posts. Your girlmance is one of my fave things about DB.
-More Korean culture oddities (as they appear in dramas) and, especially, more discussion of Korean food. There is SO MUCH in dramas, all the time. Can we talk about food, please? All the days and nights?

1 Night 2 Days were my first introduction to Korean Variety. I'm so sad it's ending soon though :(
If Dramabeans has more recaps of another great variety show (Other than Running Man) would be great!

If I had one wish to be granted by the Dramabeans' fairy Godmother, it would be Audio Recaps.
Ability to download and listen to the insightful recaps during two of my most unpleasant activities, long commutes to/from work and workouts, it would turn them into my favorite times spent in a day.

Dramabeans is magnanimous as it is. There's no other site I visit as much as I frequent Dramabeans.;)

But I guess I'd love to see a forum section?:P and more celebrity news and movie recaps if possible.:)

Anyway, you're all doing a great job. Thank you for letting me embrace my addiction.:P

1) It's a little off topic, but more news about k-pop tours in the usa or outside of asia.
2) More recaps of dramas to watch/summaries of episodes. For example, I love Color of a Woman, but it's hard to find subtitles. I watch it in Korean, but barely understand what's going on since I can't find subtitles. Also, I thought Twinkling/Sparkling was a pretty good drama that got little coverage on Dramabeans. I guess I'm looking for coverage of dramas that are enjoyable to watch all round.
3) More about fashion/food in K-dramas. For example in City Hunter, the main girl chilled at home with a headband on that was like a bow. In Color of a Woman, the lead couple use the word(s) for "spicy noodle soup" as a synonym? for when they want to kiss. Maybe have a recipe about it or talk a little about what it is?
4) Having a facebook page would also be good.
5) Poll of what drama we can't wait to watch for the upcoming week.
6) Quote of the week.

Overall, I think Javabeans, GirlFriday, and the rest of the gang are doing an amazing job.

My favorite anything-Korean, 1n2d, is ending this February. To give it a proper send-off, I'd love a retrospective 1n2d recap (much like samsookie's MNKSS recap), pretty please. I would love to do it for Dramabeans myself except I don't speak the language and based on random recapped episode in other sites and recent ones in dramabeans, the KBSW subbed episode doesn't do the funny justice.

anyways, if no native Korean speakers is willing to take on the task, i'd just do it myself based on KBSW eps. i feel like i'm going to need it to fight off the blues.

i so love love ur idea dear! After 1n2d wraps up *sobs*, it's gonna be worth it reminiscing the days back when Mong and KimC is still around. It will surely the best withdrawal thing to do. (or maybe not.. Cos it may only worsen my addiction!) but whatevah, this sounds great! Gf and Jb, please reconsider!

I agree with everyone else I would L O V E to see more movie recaps. It would also be great if you guys could add some more words/phrases to the Extended glossary, since a lot of us aren't Korean it's always nice to get more background information about the things we see in dramas !!!

**thinking**

I guess I would like some more recaps of historical dramas since I'm a really big history geek and it seems like dramabeans rarely recaps even the more popular ones like queen seon duk.

thanks! :D

I would actually just love to see more variety Roulette. Or just two recappers discussing abs. I'm not picky.

I would like to see more guest recappers or additional bloggers to the DB family so you guys (GF anf JB) can have more time for your RL. Was that an obvious suck up? :)

Also, I'd like to see reviews of old shows/dramas.

And please never loose the wit and "snark"...

I think it'd be great if you guys did a weekly funny picture from the dramas that had been recapped during the week, just to share a little happiness from a funny moment in a drama. Like a memorable moment to get others interested in the drama?

But your site really is great, I adore it!

I think it would be nice to have more movie reviews. Maybe you could create some more drama recommendation lists by genre and not just that one rom-com list.
Everything else from the fangirl-ing to the snarking is awesome and I'm thankful for it. Happy birthday Dramabeans!

thanks to Dramabeans and to all the bloggers out there, if not for you folks, I can't possibly be updated with all the dramas and know a thing or two about your culture.

If there's a thing that I want to request on Dramabeans, can you please start some bits of Korean culture lesson 101. I am really amazed with how things are done there. But if that's not possible, then can I just request for a recap of old good time dramas? Like Biscuit teacher star candy? I've been looking around the net for some recaps but alas, there is none.

Thank you Dramabeans and more power to you! Fighting!!

looking forward to that cultural lesson! Nice one ssan.. I remembered reading one post around here that explained why kdrama characters like to remove batteries from cellphones and understanding why they do so gives me so much enlightenment. That's so korean! So cool to know!

I certainly love reading news/updates/whatever about actors & actresses. Of course, I most especially love your episode recaps, as well as any juicy spoilers for upcoming dramas or movies! All I can say is that I hope you continue your own conversation posts about certain news stories or photoshoots - I look forward to those every night as my own treat! You are funny & so clever! Haha!

Thank you for all your hard work! I look forward to the Dramabeans of 2012!

I love everything about Dramabeans right now, but reading more about Korean culture would be awesome. There are things I haven't picked up on, even being Korean-American, that your posts really clarified for me - like the oppa/noona posts, to name a few.

And just because I'm super curious about how both of you are superhuman at recapping, maybe an "Ask Us" post or some sort of Q&A?

2011 was a great year! I'm not sure how to improve 2012 knowing you guys are spread thin as it is...
The only thing I might ask for? The occasional movie review. The reviews by Only1tony were great, and I've been dying to see movies like Wandduki and Penny Pinching Romance. Unfortunately Korean movies aren't nearly as easy to come by as Kdramas, and I've been hooked ever since I saw Finding Kim Joong Wook.

More recaps! Of older beloved dramas and of new dramas in different categories! I know recaps take lost of time, so maybe bringing in guest bloggers. And I really love it when you give drama recommendations and series overviews. It gives me a general idea of the drama without reading the recaps and I love knowing why you recommend a drama. For example, The Princess's Man overview that you wrote for the series! :)

Thank you guys so much for the awesome work you've been doing here at DB! I love you guys! :)

I'd love to see movie reviews and recaps plus a recap of some old dramas that were aired prior to the launch of the site like what samsooki did for My Name Is Kim Sam Soon.

It would be so much fun to reminisce on those dramas and see what you think of those old ones that are truly classics in their own right.
