Yoochun considers new drama project

It might be a fast turnaround to dramaland for Park Yoochun, who has been offered the lead in a new project only months after completing his last. Reports circled that Sohn Ye-jin might be his co-star, but she turned down the role due to her movie schedule, which is too bad since she’s one of my favorite actresses. The project is a conventional melodrama called I Miss You (or more literally, I Want to See You) about first loves. Groaaaaan. That’s redundant, dramaland. That’s like saying your show’s gonna have a cast, and a director, and possibly even a love square with second leads. GASP!
On the upside, the project’s got some good pedigree, so we can’t say it’s down for the count. Writing is Moon Hee-jung, of Last Scandal of My Life, Smile You, and Can You Hear My Heart. All projects with solid, positive reviews. And directing is PD Lee Jae-dong of Thank You and Can’t Lose.
The story centers on a first love at fifteen, that gets torn apart and leaves both parties carrying the deep scars. They meet again as adults and then comes the angst. Correction: more angst. It’s described as a “hide-and-seek kind of love story.” It’s not a lot to go on, but it might be enough for me to say it’s not my kind of thing.
I love first love stories when it’s the story of first love at the time, as in when you’re young and stupid and horribly awkward (See: Answer Me 1997). But when stories center around grown adults and who angst for sixteen episodes because they haven’t figured out how to move on from a love they felt fifteen years ago, my eyes tend to auto-roll. Most dramas just shoehorn the trope in and focus on the present-day connection which works fine, but dramas that are All About The First Love usually make the characters seem juvenile (See: The Moon That Embraces the Sun). Aaaaanyway, let’s hope the writer’s got something good up her sleeve to keep the story out of beentheresville.
I Miss You follows Arang and the Magistrate (Wednesday-Thursday) on MBC, so we’re looking at a late October premiere.

Park Yoochun! Yes!
I hope it's like a quirky modern first love type of plot line with fun editing. The male's character is a detective so in-between the romance they can add some thrillers. That would be so much fun! Hopefully it's a drama that will make people think and learn. Sort of poetic.

I like him but correct me i think from all his drama he always take the same role as a rich, romantic, funny, nice and good son to his parent, right? he suit those character so much and then i'm curious can he take another role...

the story seem usual for me, nothing special, yoo chun acting not really special too, always play the same charracter. I don't like Sunkyungkwan and Scandal and rooftoop price too, i just like miss ripley because of the story and Lee Dae Hee acting. Idon't care if Yoochun take this role or not

I don't mind a traditional melodrama as long as it is done right. In the end, it's all about the execution anyway. Yoochun is getting better, so I would definitely check it out.

The PD from the drama "Thank You" that's cool...it's one of Korea's best dramas ever!
The story line for this new project doesn't make me want to watch it lol but maybe it'll be more interesting than what I'm expecting :)

Ooh I am so in, with past woks like can You Hear My Heart and Last Scandal, who wouldn't watch this. So excited!!
I will never forget how beautifully and complexly written Bong Ma Roo/jang Joon Ha in CYHMH was written.
Although all these past projects were blessed with amazing actors, I see Yoo chun improving with every project hes done, so I think he can bring it.

to early for drama,,,,, i wish he just do one drama per year; so that he has good rest and can choose only character that can make him a good actor..
melodrama with first love... kyaaa not my cup of tea,...
definitely no after watching miss ripley.. i finished it only bcoz of pyc...
hope he choose it well. hope the script is good.
hope the actress is a good actor, not born-idol~ (maybe moon gae young~)
if it angst drama, i hoooope for no bad 2nd lead actress... maybe we should change it?

Just read an article that said that the writer is really pushing for Yoochun and that she wrote the script with him in mind.
Yoochun's character(if he takes the role) is a smart funny impudent police detective who became a detective to look for his first love.
I love Yoochun but melos about first loves are so not my cup of tea.
Oh well. At least it's not a chaebol character.

I love Rooftop Prince! But Yoochun making a comeback so soon, that's nice but I hope the storyline is not just another boring melodrama being draggy and bleh! I'm sick of Miss Ripley please not another one.

Am I the only one here who wants to see Yoochun in hanbok again? now.. he's done that twice, but dunno.. I think he looks grant and full of power wearing traditional clothes.
