There’s a new romantic comedy series in the works, and it’s courting some big stars back to dramaland. The project is called All About My Romance, and is currently trying to woo Shin Ha-kyun (Brain) and Im Soo-jung (All About My Wife) as its leads. From All About My Wife to All About My Romance? Great, I’ll never be able to remember which is which.
While Shin Ha-kyun has recently headlined the medical drama Brain, Im Soo-jung hasn’t been on the small screen since her debut on the fourth season of School, and then 2004′s I’m Sorry, I Love You. She has since stuck entirely to movies, so if she takes on the drama, it’ll be nine years since her last one.
The project will be helmed by the crew behind Protect the Boss — writer Kwon Ki-young and PD Sohn Jung-hyun, and will take place in the world of politics. It’s based on a novel of the same name, and the leads will play two congress members from opposing political parties who fall in love and have to figure out how to make it work. It’s described as “a world where romance is like politics and politics is like romance.” Sounds like a cheeky, combative workplace drama. Familiar territory, given the crew’s credits.
There’s probably no greater fodder for bickering hate and crackling banter than a pair of quick-witted politicians whose fundamental belief systems are opposed. The idea behind the drama is to take these two characters who are professionals when it comes to politics, and watch as they attempt to try and navigate dating in the same way. Yeah good luck with that.
They of course have to keep the romance a secret — Helloooo, scandal! Goodbye, constituency! — so at least they’ll be in cahoots there. I can’t imagine there’s going to be much this couple will agree on, but I suppose that’ll be the fun. Both actors are still “considering favorably,” but the outlook is promising.
All About My Romance plans to follow That Winter, The Wind Blows on SBS.

Love both actors. Didn’t know this was a pairing I’d wanted until this article. I hope this happens!
YES. I agree. I wouldn’t have ever thought of this couple together, but since they suggested it, I am thrilled. I love Mr. Ha Kyun and his acting chops are immensely commendable and I love love love Im Soo Jung.
Im superrr excited.
(also, I hope that the woman in strong and quick witted and awesome!)
YEAAAA
I really like this actor Shin Ha Kyun & I really enjoyed his phenomenal acting perfomance in that drama BRAIN. He really nailed it!!
I will definitely looking forward to this drama because I am very curious about Im Soo Jung’s acting & I hope she will do well!
This looks like a promising drama, hopefully this pushes through. With those two as leads
haven’t seen any of their dramas or movies….
I can see it! Loved them both!
Thist would just be awesome! Two of my favourite actors in one drama? Count me in
Well he looks like a politician.
Cat and dog forbidden love against all odds. Also, all is fair in love and politics. Lol. Right up my alley!
Love the idea, love the prod team and like him: Didn’t like Brain particularly but I thought he had that cheeky charm, perfect for a pure rom-com. Good news!
He was funny and sweet in Harvest Villa.
Thanks for the tip. Will check it out.
Come on Im Soo Jung!! I need your awesomeness on the small screen.
WOW 2013 looks to be the year to woo back the now-film stars back to dramaland. I say YAY to this. I hope this casting is confirmed!
(Pssst on slightly relevant note: is it true she is dating Gong Yoo? This rumor has been floating around since forever that I feel like there’s got to be some truth to it…)
There was a story a few months ago that she and GY had secretly gotten married and someone found documentation that was, naturally, never released. I’m not sure what to make of it but as you say, there’s no smoke without fire.
Nah if they had gotten married the scary knetizens would so be on that… and those guys are scary they would have probably even gotten the family registry. But since OMG I had never heard of this?!! I really have no concrete answer or reliable info.
IIRC the source said they had gotten married in the US… but I could be making that up.
omgggggggg. i’m so excited. shk. isj. soooo excited!!!
Absolutely floored by his performance in Brain and I’d love to see him on the small screen again.
I loved watching him in Brain. I hated watching him in Brain.
I remember feeling like his character was going EXPLODE in those first few episodes, and I remember thinking he totally deserved whatever kind of karmic punishment he got.
He projects tension like nobody I have ever seen act in ANY language. I actually put off watching the show because it made me so tense. Then I got sucked in like nobody’s business, and I am so glad I did.
Gosh! Same feeling here! Brain drove me crazy!
agree. I haven’t seen anyone act as intensely and realistic as SHK. He owned Brain. If that drama was just shown a few months later, then Park Shi Hoo (Princess Man) supposed to have won the Daesang Award.
Brain<3 Shin Hakyuns Lee Ganghoon was amazing! Absolutely keeeeled it! Ugh *slow exaggerated claps* he deserved that Daesang and then some, special mention to Jung JinYoung too!
Wow, the thought of politics and love reminds me of Belinda Stronach & Peter MacKay’s romance from Canadian politics….which didn’t end well for the couple, at all. On the other hand, dramaland politics may not be as fierce and merciless since this is a romantic comedy we are talking about. But on the other hand it is a drama, in which, drama is the name of the game. I shelfing this as something I will check out solely because of Im Soo-jung’s return to the small screen.
And in the US Mary Matalin and James Carville.
There’s an old, old American movie – the Farmer’s Daughter, with Joseph Cotton and Lauretta Young, about a cross-the-aisle couple. It’s a charming movie. Watch it!
Im Soo jung back in dramaland? Me likey.
City Hall anyone? Kinda?
Well, if we consider the background is politics. But in CH the problem was rather social/educational/lifestyle differences, rather than political views. But it was a good drama, indeed.
This is so YES!!
I’m thinking SHK in more three piece suits – OY!!!!!
Super fast dialog, not suffereing fools, passionate angry kisses.
Do it, people!!!!
Who is the second lead male? Some young pup?
Let’s see…Ha Suk Jin!!! YES!
PLEASE HAPPEN! I am begging; pleading!
I am glad to see Im SooJung on the screen again. She’s definitely one of my favourite actresses. I love how versatile she is.
The winter wind blow something is on SBS? It’s KBS right?
Shoot, I’ve actually had this idea for a while, except with competing corporations. ((
I’ve had that thought in the back of my mind for a while now (not to steal your thunder) but all rich people seem to be evil scheming lowlifes in Kdramaland so getting two wealthy but decent protagonists seems unlikely . I hate how there are so few business oriented Kdramas that actually try to address corporate culture instead of serving it up as window dressing for chaebol angst.
Indeed! I was thinking about a comedy/drama (not a K-drama, but rather a feature film) with protagonists who are mid-level managers from two competing corporations, a-la Duplicity. Maybe throw in an acquisition or two as well…
I can only be grateful that there are no idols involved (yet).
Oh great! Now you’ve jinxed it.
Kim Hyung Joon is sure to be cast as second lead now….
Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
OK, I lied.
EVERYTHING is wrong with that.
Come on YY, give me your best shot.
I laughed out loud in my office reading this!
KHJ *shudder*
Don’t you miss those days when dramas actually had credible second leads? No more flower boys, I’m begging you dramagods! I want to see men!
Not to worry, he should be too busy with City Conquest.
Why doesn’t somebody cast him in a lead role?!
Speaking of City Conquest, I just found out that Nam Goong Min is also cast. This means I’ll have to watch at least a few episodes
Why you gotta mentioned KHJ here??? Wae??? Now the plot’s all comedic to me…LOL…hehe good ONE^^
She looks so cool on that picture.
but when will That winter,…air?
I think this month, or December…?
Plot doesn’t sound interesting, but how different could a politics centered drama be? I will just have to trust that the plot will be executed in a refreshing way. I hope the duo behind the drama is able to make this drama fun for the whole ride. Protect the Boss started off fun, but became draggy and boring so fast and I never finished it.
I love Shin Ha Kyun and like Im Soo Jung. I have yet to watch MISA (yes, I know blasphemy! I’m just never in the mood to cry and rip my heart into pieces…yet), but I liked her in movies. These are excellent actors (SHK <3) so I am not too worried for them. Can't wait to see their chemistry!
This sounds good. Gotta write this down somewhere.
Oh, this is fantastic on all levels. I LOVED PTB–it purposely avoided almost all of the typical annoying kdrama chliches, and the female lead character was written MUCH better than most other female romcom leads I’ve encountered.
So, so excited for this.
Chliches? Someone has a case of the Mondays.
(And that someone is me, in case I didn’t imply that strongly enough.)
I loved All About My Wife! (and don’t worry gf, I’m sure they’ll change the name of the show at some point or the other)
Ah Darn it, i wanted Kim Sun Ah next project to be with Shin T^T! But I will definitely check this out. This will be the first time watching this female lead and i’m looking forward to it.
I love and adore Shin Ha-kyun. He and Park Yong-woo have the cutest smiles ever! I’m a bit iffy about the plot, but would love to see Shin on the small screen in a decent drama. He’s so wonderful and charismatic. I love watching him act… amaze-balls!
Premise is not fresh—but Im Soo-jung? I am in.
sounds like fun, both the writers and actors have to be in top notch form for something like this to work though
Plot sounds dull, but Protect the Boss managed to turn dull into fun, so I still have hope. And Shin! Ha! Kyun! I’d watch the man read a telephone book for 20 episodes, so I’m in.
HAHAHAH, true! Count me in the watch.
He can just sit stare and not say a thing and I’ll still go <3333.
Wow, if they both confirmed, I’ll be SO looking forward to this.
They both have pretty awesome onscreen charisma and ISJ hasn’t been in a drama for AGES.
I never heard about SKY nor do I know who he was until Brain came along and playing with my ‘brain’
. This guy surely knows how to capture people not for his look ,as he is not the candy eyes type or flower boy type, but simply because of his acting.
So yeah, seems I need to follow SBS for few months in the row in the near future (The Winter and this one).
wasn’t this drama already done as city hall
I hope the writing is better towards the end of the drama. The writer kinda dropped the ball on Protect the Boss towards the end (exhaustion?)
But I’ll definitely check it out.
Unnecessary extension more than exhaustion.
Wow..it has been really long since I have watched Im Soo Jung in anything since i do not watch much movies…..looking forward to it!
WAAH! My favorite movie actress
I didn’t know that she has done some(at least 2?) dramas on TV, well… I hope it will be confirm soon. No idea about the guy though,
If you want to know about Im Soo Jung’s acting watch her movies I only watch 3 of them => A Tale of Two Sisters; Sad Movie and I’m a Cyborg but that’s ok.
If you didnt watch “I’m sorry, I love you”, that means you missed so much thing. ıts still one of best drama that ever been done in Korea!
‘m so happy she is turning back. Last year political drama Dae Mul was ratings winner. Next year a Rom-com drama with this cast can easily win over Dae Mul. I really missed good romantic comedy with real actors. After “Secret Garden” ıts hard to find good one. ISJ and SKY can easily fill this place.
