Yeon Jung-hoon confirms leading role in MBC’s My Healing Love

I’m always happy to hear about Yeon Jung-hoon (Bravo My Life) being cast in a new drama, though I do wish he’d come back from the land of weekenders. Yeon Jung-hoon has confirmed a leading role in the upcoming MBC weekend drama My Healing Love, joining another weekender veteran So Yoo-jin (Five Children).

In terms of plot, there’s not much available: All we know is that the story will follow the rise and eventual success of a woman comes from an underprivileged background. It’s a pretty generic description, but I love a good underdog success story because they can be very uplifting and inspiring when done well.

Yeon Jung-hoon has been taking some varied roles over the years, from unabashedly evil characters to the traditional and kind leading man, but I will always remember him as the moody Vampire Prosecutor. He might not be able to play him ever again (sob), but his memorable role in the crime thriller series means that I will continue to keep an eye on his future projects. Who knows, Yeon Jung-hoon might get me to tune into a weekender for once. I’m not as familiar with So Yoo-jin, but she seems to have a likeable screen presence, and I can see her and Yeon Jung-hoon being cute as an onscreen couple.

My Healing Love is due to premiere in late September on MBC.

Good to hear about him again. I’ll definitely follow the plot updates to find out more info bc right now it’s pretty vague. What even happened to VP? I still lament at the ending they left us with at season 2 ugh

They've even titled it a healing drama. 😅 I see the 'healing' continues to trend in dramaland.

Why a weekender again? Where is my Vampire Prosecutor 3? Why "he might not be able to play him ever again"? Why did the sequel plans fall through?! T.T

Why her though? :( I loved him in 'mask' in all his villain glory but really I just wish he gets more recognition after all these years.

By "her" do you mean So Yoo-jin? While I've only seen her in Five Children she was flawless and delightful. It's the first time I felt real interest in a middle- aged romance. As a single mom, her character more than competently worked a job, took care of her fiesty grandmother, raised 3 kids, became step mom to two more kids with DOUBLE IN-LAWS FROM HELL, an ex-husband who cheated and married her best friend and she, So Yoo-jin, did things I've never seen a Kdrama female character do before : that is, stand up to those older ahjummas/halmoni's while remaining respectful, she stood her ground and put them in their place. She also never caved to her stupid ex-husband but instilled fear in him of what she might do next! She didn't take no stuff off anybody yet was never obnoxious. And while being a disciplinarian to her kids, she was also fun!

I hope she does great things in this drama too! At first, I was skeptical cause I didn't find her character interesting enough on five kids, and I only watched the parts of shin hye sun and sung hoon lol. But I think I do want to watch the show and give her a chance. It could be an unconventional but interesting pairing!

That means you probably skipped the first few episodes of Five Children. (I was tempted as well to get to Sung Hoon, who didn't appear until Ep 3, I think.) So that means you missed in Ep 1 or 2 where - SPOILER - her ex husband held back child support and he and new wife were talking smack but So Yoo jin reached over and grabbed his car keys that were sitting on the cash register and took his car to be held until the loser paid up! lol

I love Yeon Jung hoon, and personally aside from Vampire Prosecutor series, I think he also stood out as a villain in Mask. His not so short special appearance in Ms Temper and Nam Jung Gi also left a good impression that made me wish he will reunite with Lee Yo won in the future. So Yoojin is OK, so maybe if the storyline capture my interest I'll be watching this drama.

Have you watched East of Eden? He was very good in that drama too with Song Seung Heon and his movie Daddy long legs with Ha Ji WOn. He is a great actor

Could someone (or even better, @tipsymocha) please elaborate on why he might not be able to play the vampire prosecutor again? I'm a bit frustrated after a google search didn't yield anything about it.

ah, weekender drama again. glad he comeback to dramaland after bravo my life.
but i think we still have hope for vp 3. i ever seen photo of him met vp producer on ig. and he ever upload vp script photo on his ig. he said it will continued as a movie for the last of series and he ever wrote his ig bio VP (2/6). but idk why he deleted the photo and his bio after all. jeez, it's been 6 years after season 2.

let's pray for it, guys. maybe next year?

Personally I think he is always a joy to watch no matter his role or the type of drama. He acts with such finesse I am always drawn into his scenes! I would definitely watch a weekend drama if he was in it... In fact I did years ago. It was called Gold Appear! (or Summoning Gold).
