Casting continues for JTBC bookish romance I Will Find You When the Weather Is Nice

Lee Jae-wook, Nam Ki-ae

Actors Lee Jae-wook (Extraordinary You) and Nam Ki-ae (Catch the Ghost) have been confirmed for JTBC drama I Will Find You When the Weather Is Nice. Earlier this year, Seo Kang-joon (Watcher) and Park Min-young (Her Private Life) confirmed their roles as the main leads.

I Will Find You When the Weather Is Nice seems like it will be a healing romance drama about a reunion between two classmates. Park Min-young plays the role of a woman who becomes tired of Seoul life and moves to the countryside where she is reunited with Seo Kang-joon’s character who runs an independent bookshop.

Lee Jae-wook is set to play Seo Kang-joon’s character’s friend, named Lee Jang-woo. Nam Ki-ae will be playing Seo Kang-joon’s mother in the drama, who is the most innocent and delicate lady in the region. She loves her son so much that she often says that she only needs her son to live, which makes her husband feel a bit alienated.

Upcoming JTBC drama I Will Find You When the Weather Is Nice, written by Han Ga-ram (Summer Days) and directed by Han Ji-seung (Mistress, Valid Love), will begin airing in early 2020.

I was already planning on watching this drama for the leads so Lee Jae Wook is an extra treat. Glad he's snagging tons of roles and capitalizing on his rising popularity.

Did some digging into the book "I`ll visit you if the weather is nice" that this drama is based on. The point of the book is about ordinary people. By the illustration in the book their clothes are simple winter wear as the main story is taking place in winter. Also important fact is that he did grow up in the mountains. The novel is apparently a warm story about forgiveness, healing and love. So sound like a warm healing story :D I hope drama manage to convey this.

Well, the cast, countryside, and bookstores suit me fine, except I need something other than romance to watch for 16 hours. I may check it out though.

I’ve only seen LJW in EXTRAORDINARY YOU and WHAT’S WRONG WITH MY MOTHER IN LAW. 😉 I’m a fan of this rising actor. As long as he’s not stuck in a love triangle or turns out to be a serial killer I’ll be ok (though he’d be good as a villain too... ). Please no serial killers show!

Mwahaha I didn’t watch the main drama but I did follow the makjang drama within the drama.

It’s funny that he’ll be working with Park Min Young, who starred in the original WHAT’S WRONG WITH [insert anything here] drama 😂

I will say this for him though, in his short career dude has proven to have a solid chemistry/rapport with everyone he has scenes with. That takes a special talent.

Has anyone made a cut of just that drama? I don't really care to watch WWW, but I'd watch the heck out of the makjang madness of What's Wrong with my Mother-in-law.

I remember when Search was airing, I wrote on my wall wanting thag to be a real show bc I would watch the hell out it.

There is this drama called Shady Mother In Law but I couldn't get into it.

There this one with extra commentaries:

Part II: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc-arFBASL0
Then there's this one with only Chinese subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_q__uF64_I

Part III: https://youtu.be/JNVQ_SzmUd0?t=36

Just realized those didn't have the ending. This one has it, but it only has Chinese subtitles.

Thank you @msrabbit. They must have had a blast filming that. Also, how is he so young?

@wishfultoki,
Thanks for mentioning this -- I'm a sucker for drama-within-drama spoofs.

Thank you for the links. Very entertaining, especially the wet seaweed slap. It was a blast to hear "You Are My Girl" by Kim Jo Han from HIGH KICK! 2 THROUGH THE ROOF, which I started watching as part of my Yoon Si-yoon retrospective. ;-)

You're welcome, @pakalanapikake.
I totally get you re: YSY. I barreled through 30 episodes of Baker King Kim Tak Goo for him. That was my first foyer into makjang dramas and I did not regret any seconds I spent on that drama. Thus, the power of YSY. 😁

Yay for BREAD, LOVE AND DREAMS (alternate title)! It was a twofer with Joo Won, which made it even better. Not to mention the late Jeon Mi-sun, and Jung Sung-mo, one of my faves from THE KING'S DAUGHTER, SOO BAEK HYANG and various other sageuks. And yes, it was quite the makjang fest. KBS World TV has it on YouTube. The OST is one of my faves, in particular Kyuhyun's "Hope is a Dream that Doesn't Sleep." And "Love You to Death" by KCM feat. Soul Dive. Nice instrumentals, too.

By any chance have you seen YSY in the Cdrama HAPPY NOODLE? King of Baking switches to a different class of flour products while searching for Dad in China. It was pretty good. ;-)

@pakalanapikake Haha. I haven't seen Happy Noodles. I will check it out when I have time. Thanks for recommending it.

I love the seaweed slap. To me it's as iconic as the coffee foam kiss.

You mean his extraordinary jawline and long (tatoo-able) neck is not enough to keep you for 16 hours? ;)

I already fall in love with Jae Wook in Extraordinary You in the earlier episode then found out that he is Marco! How shock I was since I hate Marco very much and bae Kyung is a bit annoying :D
Then youtube give me a video him and lee dae he in WWW and I watched 16 episodes straight so I can see him. This is the first actor that makes me ignore the first lead and I can't get over with Sul Ji Hwan, I played their scenes over and over again.
When I get back to Extraordinary You, I only see Bae Kyung and hate 'both' writers to make a story of him like that

I posted an Instagram Story watching Lee Jae Wook on Extraordinary You, especially when he got angry (and looked very handsome at the same time), and one of my friends asked me, "What the title of this drama? Why the actor so charming?"

Even for someone who had no idea about LJW on Search WWW or Extraordinary You, or his transformation from Marco (omg I still can't believe that he was Marco on Alhambra!), still can find him so charming and refreshing even when he was angry.

I am officially LJW's fan now because he was Marco, he was Seol Ji Hwan and he played my fave character Baek Kyung so very well. He must be so versatile for a really young actor and a rookie in industry.

Anyway, I am kinda fifty-fifty between sad and happy for JW casted in this role, because I had no plan to watch this drama "IWFYWTHWIN" and the plot sounds a little bit Melo and boring somehow. Now, my boy becomes the second lead, so, it's clear that I cannot root for the main couple...

But as many articles said that LJW's character will have a bright smile... It would be different from Baek Kyung's character with full of anger. I'd love to check this one then. I hope he will get more recognition in the future and surely a bright path is waiting for him.

Thank you for the casting news, @tineybeanie! I'm tickled to see that Nam Ki-ae will be playing an "innocent and delicate lady" this time around. I first saw her in OH HAE-YOUNG AGAIN as Park Do-kyung's battle-ax of a horridly parasitic mother. She did a great job, but I so loathed the character I was afraid I wouldn't be able to stand the actress. Never fear. The scene of Kim Mi-kyung as plain OHY's fire-breathing mom settling her hash at the engagement meeting was a blast. And I thought I'd bust a gut when Mom Hwang later shot down her demand for a mink coat as dowry. It was epic. NKA has great comic timing, and seeing her face off against Kim Mi-kyung was a real treat.

I loved NKA's turn in CONFESSION as lawyer Junho's office manager and co-conspirator. Interestingly, she had played the mom of Lee Ki-woo's second-lead architect in JUST BETWEEN LOVERS. And she was great as Queen Inwon in HAECHI. I do not recall her supporting character in the huge cast of ALL ABOUT MY MOM, but I loved the drama, with Go Du-shim (currently playing police officer Hwang Yong-shik's feisty widowed mom in WHEN THE CAMELLIA BLOOMS) in the title role.

I haven't seen Lee Jae-wook in anything yet. I've enjoyed Seo Kang-joon's performances in ARE YOU HUMAN TOO?, THE THIRD CHARM, CUNNING SINGLE LADY, and HWAJUNG / SPLENDID POLITICS, in that order. I could really use to see him in a healing drama after his searingly realistic (and highly dysfunctional) pas de deux with Esom in THIRD CHARM. Here's hoping that there's more substance to it than Park Min Young's latest outings WHAT'S WRONG WITH SECRETARY FAN GIRL, both of which were fun to watch in the moment but lacked nutritive value in comparison to her epic turn in SEVEN DAY QUEEN. (Okay, I'll admit I really tuned in for her leading men in the fluffy ones. So sue me.)

The bookstore in the boonies is the icing on the cake. It's always a treat to watch a drama set outside the concrete canyons of Seoul.

Hope he got his first lead role and got a happy ending with the girl he loves. He in Extraordinary You hit me hard for 2nd lead syndrome.

I am officially fan of the rookie actor Lee Jae wook. He reminds me of the days i supported Lee Jong Suk and Woo bin when they were in their rookie days. Lee Jae wook has such charm even at that young age. I hope he grows bigger and bigger as an actor and grabs so many good shows. Keep shining Lee Jae Wook. One day everyone will know your name and be your fan.

Same here. I feel that Lee Jae wook would be like Woo bin. Mostly Woo bin got a role as tsundere (bad guy at outside but having warm heart at inside) and looks like Lee Jae wook will get the same. I just hope he would get, at least, role like Woo bin in Uncontrollably Found, got the girl but not died :D

As much as I love PMY's romantic dramas, sometimes I wish that she chooses something new like thriller or workplace comedy like Chief Kim cuz it's getting so cliche
