[Staff Spotlight] Get to know tccolb

Explain your username (and/or avatar).

My username is an old nickname of mine. There is a story behind it, but it’s long. So, let’s just say it involves a photo and some corn on a cob.

What is the first drama that you watched (or the first drama that made an impression)?

One of my early favorites is the sitcom Three Men and Three Women, which cemented my love for Korean shows and also So Ji-sub.

Have you ever lived a moment that you thought belonged in a drama?

There was a cold winter day, back in high school, when I went skating with a group of friends. I wasn’t (and still not) a very good skater, so I was mostly shuffling around the edges and trying not to fall. But there was a moment when I was standing towards the middle of the rink, away from the crowds, to take a short break. All of a sudden, I saw my crush skating towards me. He had built up too much speed and couldn’t stop. I should have moved out of the way, but I froze in shock. He had better reflexes, though, and to prevent us from both crashing and falling, he enveloped me in a big hug and we spun around together like a scene in a drama. It was one of the best days of my life.

What drama genres do you especially like?

The top of the list would have be comedies. I also enjoy period pieces, sci-fi/fantasy, and drama as well.

What drama genres do you especially dislike?

I wouldn’t say I dislike them, but I do have to be in the right mood to watch a mystery or crime genre. Sometimes I really enjoy darker stories, but when push comes to shove I do feel more drawn to lighter fare.

What drama character would you want to be?

Park Eun-bin’s character on Age of Youth (a.k.a. Hello, My Twenties), Song Ji-won.

Favorite non-Korean movie and/or TV show?

Doctor Who.

Which Hallyu celebrity would you actually want to meet and spend an hour with?

It’s hard to narrow it down to one person. I want to say So Ji-sub, but I feel like he’ll just be very quiet and not say much. But I guess, still, So Ji-sub.

Your favorite drama has an unholy alliance with your most hated drama and produces a mutant baby drama. Describe the plot.

Boy runs away from rich, Evil Father and Evil Stepmom. Boy finds Real Mom and Long-Lost Brother, and moves in with them. Boy falls in love with the Girl Next Door. Brother falls in love with Girl Next Door’s Rich Friend. Complicated love square and Cinderella shenanigans ensue. Everyone dies at the end.

Yeah, I'm too fond of his sonic sunglasses and electric guitar. And his counterpart Missy.

Park Eun-bin’s character on Age of Youth (a.k.a. Hello, My Twenties), Song Ji-won. You want to die at a young age? :p

Personally, I love this character too abd Park Eun Bin was great. I'm not sure I would have loved this character with another actress.

A fave of mine, too. Listening to the AOY soundtrack at this very moment and was wondering if there was something new in that genre to start on soon (and already saw/loved Be Melo).

I like her a lot as well as all the companions. But the feel of the series is a little different with Chibnall as the head writer, so it could take some getting used to.

Your real life drama moment though. How can this be true? I mean I could totally expect that happening with a stranger but with a crush, damn you're lucky tccolb.

It's What Happened in Bali + Into the Sunlight. I think Into the Sunlight will always be one of favourites. It starred Cha Tae-hyun, Jang Hyuk, Kim Hyun-joo, and Kim Haneul back when they were all rising young stars :)

Also, if you ever meet So Ji-sub, maybe he'll talk if you rap verses at him.
