Song Seung-heon back in My Princess

Song Seung-heon has announced his next drama, My Princess (working title). This comes a year after the end of his last drama, East of Eden.

Its scriptwriter Kim Eun-sook is the writer of hit dramas City Hall, On Air, and Lovers In Paris, which already makes this a buzz project. Not much has been identified about the plot (we can guess it’ll start out light and romantic, and ease into the melodramatics in the latter half, if her previous dramas are any indication), but it is planning for an August premiere.

Song Seung-heon is currently working on the remake of A Better Tomorrow (co-starring Joo Jin-mo, Kim Kang-woo, Jo Han-seon), which is slated for a Chuseok holiday release later this fall.

I’m not a fan of all these flippant, generic-sounding titles (Oh My Lady, My Fair Lady) and this one is no different; unless there’s a literal princess involved, it’s not a title that makes much of an impression. That aside, even if I weren’t indifferent to Song Seung-heon, I think the draw here is really the writer. Personally, I haven’t been a great fan of any of her series, but if you have been, this will probably catch your interest.

It would be nice if the lead actress for this drama is Lee Da Hae. This will calm
both lead male/female antis. Hopefully, it is a romantic, comedic and light hearted series.

I dont like this writer one bit....and I'm still pissy over the definite bastardization of A Better Tomorrow, on top of the only role that SSH should be acting in fr now on (or ever) should be angsty screaming robots.

I'm all for him doing the K Zettai Kareshi against SHK/CJW/me. But I have to say Taec is giving him a run for his money w/ his ultimate pet puppy role in CU.

@43 agreed, I liked Lover with gangster theme, SSH he wasn't that good looking in SScent or AH and his acting was ok, but in EOE he looked manly with sexxy body. On Air for me was boring, City Hall was good. So hopefully this project will shows more of his acting. I will watch if YEH in it for sure.

LOL!! why all of the sudden the name of LDH came up?? 'o_O

something so traumatizing must've happen to cause her fans (i mean 'sympathizers') to bring up in a SSH article that didn't involve her name at all... but i digress

@ mimim

you mean CMS, the person that got caught up in the "road rage charges" and punching an old man?? since you're his fan i will not mention more than i already have...

i will concede you the point that people may in general remember "bad things" more vividly about a person than positive things. but you must take a step back and look at the whole picture... if SSH is ever near the descriptions that antis make him to be, than he will not even be as successful as he is today (even if the whole military scandal issue didn't happen). people may have opinions about his acting being not "great", well fair enough, even SSH fans do not hold him to that high of standards...

case and point:
SSH was recently named and voted by the prestigious FILMART (a prestigious market, 1 of 3 top market after the American Film Market and Marché du Film, in Cannes) as one of the 'Most saleable Asian actors' in Asia on their March 25th 2010 survey. he was in a group of powerful names in Asian entertainment like Jackie Chan, Stephen Chow, Chow Yun Fat , Ge You, Huang Xiao Ming, Kaneshiro Takeshi, and Andy Lau among others... as a fan this was way too good to be true... but of course we're always thankful when SSH's name is brought up and being recognized... that means he is attracting and holding interest in many viewers (and critics alike) in regard to his projects.

and about issuing a recommendation of certain actresses to be in his projects, you're saying the production team has no say and would just forego an audition for any actresses he chooses??... hmm i thought other famous actors do that too?? SSH isn't the first and won't be the last to recommend actresses... even with that, the production team WILL require audition and have the ultimate say regarding casting... unless SSH and his management is totally paying for the whole production... in that sense... maybe he will have a say.

I've never seen SSH in anything, but for the ladies, "A Better Tomorrow" has quite the trio of the leading males types - JJM and and JHS, along w/ SSH.

@ c plus

true SSH fans will support whoever the actress maybe whether she's a class A, B, or C status in the industry... as long she works hard and develop the chemistry appropriate for the drama, we all will support her. Not only that, to an extent, we will support EVERYONE who stars in SSH's dramas and movies down to everyone in the production staff, for in that we know they are all working very hard to make the project successful.

even if SSH is consider a class B in acting (in your eyes)... it would literally offend so many class A actors and actresses to know the ACHIEVEMENT he has garnered with his class B status thus far ^_^

thankfully for them, SSH is in no such status... according to you.

@sshahi
You're right about the drama version -- not cool.
The film was so perfect, the script and each and every character was so fabulous for their role - from Hyo Bin and her nasty tomboy friend, to missile boy to the old pervert (''caandyyy... oppa ya!'') and Hye Won's 'yankee friend' - loved absolutely everyone. In the drama - not even one character stood out, and everything was just shoddily put together. Such a shame. :(

He is sure easy on the eyes though I've never been a fan. The writer succeeds when she has good leads with good chemistry. City Hall is probably the only one I liked.

I remember I forced my husband to watch Lovers in Paris and after we finished the last episode we looked at each other and said "WTF".

SSH is God's gift to womankind as far as I'm concerned. I've missed him since Fate and East of Eden. My favorite look for him was in Summer Scent but he's incredibly hot no matter his look. I see no problem with his acting.
