Sung Yuri transforms into a maid for Romance Town

I’m pretty sure I’ll find myself continuing to call Sung Yuri’s new drama Maids in my head, but I’ll have to get used to referring to it by its new title, the (sigh) rather lackluster Romance Town. (Some commenters suggested that perhaps the title sounds better by its Korean name, but alas, I can say that it does not, given that the Korean title is just a transliteration of the English: “ro-men-su-tah-woon.” So, if anything, it’s worse.)

The drama began filming on April 6, just a month before its May premiere on KBS. The scenes pictured below were filmed at a house in Yongin, which will be the ritzy home where Sung Yuri’s plucky everywoman character, Noh Soon-geum, works in the drama.

I’m not sure yet how the baby fits in, since she’s going to be working for her chaebol love interest Jung Kyeo-woon, and somehow I’m not seeing hot single dad as part of his character. Not that he couldn’t be one, but this is not that drama. Nor is it Manny.

Above is our first peek at the drama’s potential future promo image, as it comes from the April 6 poster shoot. It’s pretty clear that the two boys are rich and possibly uppity, while Sung is the maid caught between them, literally and figuratively. But why is Min Hyo-rin in a cocktail dress when she’s also a maid? And why are they all drinking wine, at a picnic together, dressed in partywear? Only time will tell.

PD Kim Jin-won (one of two PDs; the other, Hwang Eui-kyung, also directed Partner) described Sung’s role as a lively, natural one that’ll show a hitherto-unseen brightness and energy to the actress. Though I haven’t liked many of her previous roles, I hope that’s true, since she was most winning being upbeat (and, okay, slightly dim) in Hong Gil Dong. She’s due for another cheery drama, right?

Romance Town premieres on May 11.

Sung Yuri.. I might not watch it...but MIn Hyorin.... I have mixed feelings about it

You mean that one there that played kim bum's mom? Yeah for some reason i like her too.

Does anyone know if she's also a dancer in real life? She was a dancer in TWWSWTM and then I saw her in another drama also dancing the same genre of dance, which I don't know the name of.

I think you mean Who Are You? She took dance classes in that drama.

I like her too. She's so gorgeous and classy, she has this ladylike vibe that really impresses me.

I like her, but I did NOT like her character XD She was really quite annoying, not letting her son be happy, and wanting to impose her will on him @_@~ Then in some scenes I liked her more. And then, for no reason, she wouldn't let HERSELF be happy, which was also a bit annoying XD

Min Hyo Rin i'm still not a huge fan of.

romance town (the title) gives me goosebumps because of the cheesiness.

This kind of reminds me of this Taiwanese Drama that ran a couple of weeks(months?) ago... The girl is a maid and the boy is a hotel owner and they come together in a marriage of convinience. Like most T-dramas though, the concept was good but the outcome was rather lackluster... The only thing that made me excited about it was Mike He XD

with this, however, I'm not excited at all haha.

(That would explain the cocktail dress)

Also, I'd love it if she does a UEE where she switches from nice, accommodating girl to who-spilled-wine-on-my-dress-bitch in a flash.

These pics remind me of Gosford Park and sad Helen Mirren. In a drama, a maid can end up with the lord of the manor, but sadly, that doesn't happen much in real life. What we get a lot of time are shoddy little affairs pushed under the carpet, the errant maid gets fired and life goes on. But there's this strange case that I know of personally where a maid came to work for this family, and ended up having an affair with the employer. The employer divorced his wife and married the maid. The wife left. A few years later, a mutual friend who hadn't been in touch for sometime and hence didn't know the news, happened to catch sight of the ex-maid-now-wife sitting next to the guy in his car, and remarked to us in a conversation later: "Wow, his maid actually sits next to him! He must be a very nice employer!" To which we all fought each other to be the first to spit out: "He divorced his wife! The maid's now his new wife!" The look on her face was priceless.
