Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Thank you so much, girlfriday, for recapping so many wonderful dramas!

I absolutely loved the way you captured the best moments in Thousand Day Promise and summarized each episode beautifully.

I'm a busy student, so I don't have much time to watch dramas the whole way through...but every time I read your recaps, I feel like I've experienced the highs and lows just as if I did watch it!

Thanks so much<3

HeadsNo2, thank you for your wonderful thoughts on Tree With Deep Roots. Being a sageuk and artfully scripted, I'm sure the recaps were no easy task. Hopefully, you'll continue to guest blog.

Dahee, keep those year-end reviews coming! I'll take them, grumpiness and all.

Kaedejun, keep up the great work!

Hi Everyone,

First, I'd like to thank HeadsNo2 for the recapping drama "Tree with Deep Roots." I hadn't previously seen a historical drama before--and your recaps gave me more context.

Second, I'd like to congratulate the previous winners of Give-aways #1 and #2!

3.) Happy Martin Luther King Jr., day to everyone in United States. A day like day reminds me that-- I wouldn't be able to watch K-dramas or even discuss them on websites--without someone believing that we are all created equal and have a right to our dreams.

Take Care,

Poetry_Lyric

I want to thank HeadsNo2 for recapping 'history of a salaryman'! You do an excellent job of explaining a lot of things i don't understand and you make me excited to watch the episode. Some recaps, i feel like there is no point in watching after, but you make me excited to see the things you describe. Great style of writing, and liberal use of wit an humor!

I would like to thank HeadsNo2 for the superb recaps of TWDR! Your writing is masterful, and even though I couldn't watch the drama because of schoolwork, I could feel the suspense just reading your recaps. Plus, you always have such wonderful insights. I'm now enjoying reading your recaps/reviews for Padam Padam too.

Thanks kaedejun for Romance Town and The Musical. Also, thanks for your perspective in your Year in Review about Best Love. I didn't like it either and I really needed to know if I was just crazy or not. Thanks again :)

Thank you orangy911 for your Me too, Flower recaps. I wasn't planning on watching it, but I'd been following your recaps and picked it up at episode 8 because I couldn't resist any more! Although the plot wasn't the best, the chemistry between the leads was wonderful, and I wouldn't have known that if not for you.

I am not from the US or Canada.

All the guest bloggers are great and I'd really like to thank all of them for spicing up Dramabeans.

Here's another for Samsooki: started off an ordinary ole commenter and yet made his mark even there. Recapping was a natural progression I think, and he always has something interesting to offer. This is something to say honestly for every recapper here, but there's a palpable sense of thought and care put into recaps, which provides a lovely tint to the drama experience.

Love y'all.

First off, all you guest bloggers are totally awesome. I think you're all amazing writers with deep wit and large capacities for hilarious puns and sharp insights.

Special thanks to:

Samsooki! All hail your deliriously happymaking recaps of City Hall, still up there on my favourite shows partially because of you. I really appreciated all your rage-outs against people who treated Mi-rae so badly, and all your fannish glee over things like the bromances and the triumph of the underdogs. It felt like you lived and died with Mi-rae through those recaps, and I did the same reading them!

The Sam-soon recaps were just one big awesome giant bonus of lurrrve. Thank you!

Also, HeadsNo2, your recaps of Tree With Deep Roots were AMAZING.

And cassie.opeia and redpill, thanks for feeding my SKKS addiction when I needed the fix!

HeadsNo2, thanks for writing about Padam Padam. I really didn't know what to make of the synopsis but your initial recap convinced me to give the show a shot. It's now 12 episodes in and I'm so hooked and so grateful that you gave me my first whiff of crack! Hehe.

Dear Kaedejun,

Oh, how I love your writing style!!! I remember it was a blast reading your recaps of Prosecutor Princess (which by the way, is one of my favorite dramas!) Anyway, I just want to say THANK YOU because I know you have a life outside of kdramaland and I want you to know that your time and hard work is truly appreciated.

Keep up the good work and I hope to see you in future posts!

Thank you Samsooki, you are my favorite guest blogger since I read your debate with javabeans, dahee_fanel and other bloggers about “My Love Patzzi”. That was hilariously fun as you put all of your effort to defend the drama; even you re-watched and re-translated the ending. It was also so refreshing that I can see this drama from a man’s perspective. You got your point but sorry I still don’t like the ending (I like Jang Nara in Success Story of a Bright Girl, though).

I also like your MNIKKS recaps, remember your witty phrase “HOLY SHIK” in the final episode, LOL. Keep up your good work, and hopefully you won’t wait too long to post another recaps or (maybe) another debate. Well, I always can hope, right?
