Wow, now that seriously sucks! I don't see how their complaint is in any way legitimate, though. It's not like Dramabeans streamed footage of the show. They merely reported (albeit in amazing detail) what happened in each episode AFTER it aired, and gave cogent (and hysterically funny) opinions concerning the show's story arc/illogical plotlines, character development, etc. The fact that the L7CS was a mindbogglingly bad waste of film footage and acting talent is not DB's fault.
Doesn't the 1st Amendment protects one's right to a written opinion? Frankly, DB offers an extremely valuable public service. It aids the unsuspecting in not wasting precious time (time, which can never be recovered!) watching bad dramas, and directs us to those that add pleasure to everyday existence. Dramabeans should to add a subtitle to its banner: Because Life's Too Short to Watch Bad Dramas. LOL!
Email me if you need a donation to your legal defense fund. I can't give much, but I'll help in any way I can. I just HATE when bullies show their asses! In fact, I think I'll let DramaFever know that I may not feel disposed to renew my subscription if they insist on going after sites like DB, and that I consider it extremely bad form!

DF withdrew their claim after a massive backlash, so I don't think jb and gf will need your money, but you're having the same reaction the rest of us were several weeks ago. Recaps and reviews like the ones here on DB are legal and even if DF hadn't withdrawn the complaint, I don't think they'd have had any leg to stand on. However, from the sounds of things, they managed to shut down a number of other recap/review blogs that didn't have the same clout as DB. But you'd have to ask the other commenters for more specifics, as I wasn't familiar with those blogs.

They shut down WITH S2, which they STOLE the subs from and made profit from. (which is just douchy overall)
They shut down Mister X on Soompi. All he did was recaps. He's really good at Historical information and posted things like background on historical dramas.
They shut down another big blog. (I forgot what it was)
Also went after several streaming sites including My Soju and download sites that were providing WITHs2.
And even though they had no legal standing, they tried to go after Kshownow.net, and Dramacrazy.net. (Even if they aren't in the US, so it's not legal)
There is one site which I will not mention by full name here because they are watching which I'll term DA (which is not Deviant Art) and I'm not quite sure if they tried to swing at them too.
The thing is that they don't own the raws, so when a site puts raws for upload, they can't sue. When a site provides fan subs, while borderline illegal, really, they can't sue for copyright infringement since the subs are technically not theirs to begin with.
The WITHS2 thing, though, really tells you what the company is made of. Stealing subs, profiting and then shutting down despite the fans asking them not to do it IN their subtitles. That's real jerk zone.
They also have been putting Japanese terms into Korean subs, such as Geisha for Gisaeng and also inaccurate subs like trying to make the swearing more "PC." I also notified them they got a name wrong and they have yet to fix it.
DBs was the final nail in the coffin. I refuse to give them business.

Ah, also, I think they are trying to choke out viki as well, which I really dislike.
For example, they bought the rights to the Answer Me 1997 subs, previously they allowed the competition, but as Viki is better and faster at subbing, they requested that the company not sell the rights until the show was over.
Which is sucky. Viki is better than DF by far. DF is acting like a bully and I hate that. They want to be the only ones serving it up on Hulu and their site to talk about Korean dramas ever. And they have horrible social skills too.
The reason people were so mad at them for going after DBs was that DBs was the one that advertised them in the first place. JB said she knew the CEO of the company. It's like backstabbing, worse that Lady Macbeth.

Come on, they didn't shut down With S2. They just removed their subtitles for one drama, Queen In Hyun's Man.

And they didn't steal any subs from them. They had a working relationship.

And I wish there was an edit button, but Mister X was not on Soompi. They shut down his blog.

Mister X has an account on Soompi. =P I've contacted him on soompi. They shut down his blog.
They did take the subtitles from WITHS2, without permission. Last year they also sent them threats. Last activity from the group is June 2012. It's still ungrateful to use someone's work and then back stab them after making a profit.
Still don't know why you feel obliged to defend them. Do you work for them?

I'm not defending anyone. I'm just stating that you're accusing someone by distorting the facts. It's common knowledge that WITHS2 and Dramafever had a working relationship ever since the latter's launch, so your claims that 'they did take the subtitles from WITHS2 without permission' are simply not true.
Also, thousands of people have accounts on Soompi, but what does that have to do with his blog being taken down? To my knowledge Mister X never wrote anything other than simple threads, comments and replies there. They shut down his Weebly blog, Dramatic.
Just sayin'. If you accuse someone or something, get your facts straight.

Just got off the Nine train. I like it. Half way through episode 3 my internet went out for a few hours so that hyped up my anticipation and then the actual effects of the trips hooked me. Unlike others I think it's his brother who makes the rest of the trips to fix things. I think at some point the happy times need to be defined because I don't think any of the trips brought any of them any happiness.

I think you're most likely right.
Like Dr. Han YH young SW got someting from the other time. The 2012 card in 1992 and the time traveling beeper, which, unlike the card, returned via time travel to it's original time

I'm thinking it's his brother as well. But how does he use one stick over and over? Which does make me wonder where the original 9 incense sticks came from ...and why brother hid them under the mattress. But i'm thinking bro found the last stick after he returns home weirded out because some man disappeared in front of him. But where would he go to get the other incense sticks? OR did he research the sticks and travel to Nepal then get other sticks?

Just watched the first episode of 'When a man Loves' with Song Seung Hun and OMG ,he is really hot!!!! Unfortunately , it's the same girl playing the lead as in Fashion King and she's no better in this. It's like she just moved the same person from that show to this one. Same character , same lack of facial expression and same lack of acting skills. Talk about being typecast as the permanent victim that never looks anything but disgruntled. It;s really a shame cause he looks really good in this, much better than Dr. Jin and it was a chance for a comeback role for him.

Some help, please.
I saw the first 2 episodes of The End of the World online and I would love to continue watching the show. I am not sure on how many episodes they have shown so far, so I'm wondering if more episodes should be available by now. Unfortunately, I could't find anymore videos. Is anyone here watching the show? Do you know any legit sites posting English subbed episodes? I thoroughly enjoy it and would love to continue watching it.
Thanks!

Only the 1st 6 episodes have been aired. I think it is being subbed at some pay site. The free ones may or may not legal.
I love this show as it developes the story of the infected with his lover, etc.

I'm late but I HAD to check in coz I have to add my love for when a man loves. I think it's going to be crack for me if this keeps up! I can't understand the hate for the drama or the leads coz I am finding it all within believable realm; the setup and the emotions so far.
I haven't seen any of SSH or SSk's dramas but am happy with what I see right now. Hoping it stays good an dont disappoint me like nice guy did in the last few episodes. Good to have a drama to anticipate again.
Am a bit worried about the North Korea situation as pillowhead and I will be going to Seoul next Friday. Anybody living in Seoul here to give some assurance that ppl are going about their daily lives as usual and not taking the threats too seriously? I hope? Thanks for any response on this.

Hope all will be well while you're in Seoul. North Korea's aggressiveness is troubling and I truly don't know what he is aiming for with all that threatening.
I've been avoiding When a Man loves. Maybe because I'm worried I've seen it all before. Will see.
Have a great trip.

Enz,
An expert, a professor, on Asian Studies (North and South Korea) from the Australian National University was on the news yesterday. He said the N. Korea was just stirring such that they could demand aids in return for a passive behaviour. Some commentator also said that the new leader wanted to divert his people’s attention away from his domestic problems and to create patriotic fervour for his Kim dynasty. In Hokkien, “may sai kiang…mo dai gi”. I wouldn’t worry about your travel plan.

Thanks LT. I thought the same. They are always threatening and posturing. I reckon if they are going about filming the dramas, SK must be going about business as usual.

I just watched When A Man Loves, and while I am not professing this to be the greatest drama ever, I am in love with the gangster and would have married him and had his baby after what he did 7 years ago. Giving someone less fortunate a chance for hope? Priceless.
Some times. I just want to enjoy the drama without analyzing too much, and I enjoy When A Man Loves.

I am fairly new to kdrama world, so maybe I'm less jaded than some of the others. Yea, what he did for her 7 years ago was awesome and she could at least be less cold towards him for that but I guess as she says, it can be burdensome.
I am ready to buy that the similarities of their background made him idealize her all those years and led her to want to marry her once he gets the opportunity.
It just feels great to like a drama enough to anticipate the next episode :)

will we ever see Korean dramas that are different?
For example, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, etc.
Given that most K-dramas are already exported and syndicated throughout other parts of the world...just like American dramas.
