I didn't realize you ladies were watching Miss Korea until I saw this post... so yay! Honestly, I loved it. I thought it was one of the best dramas I've watched. I watched Pasta and Golden Time is done by the same people as well and as much as I enjoyed those, I thought Miss Korea was the best of the bunch. Like they finally got all the elements right in their third try.

I do agree with you that Hyeong Joon's character was hard to get into and understand because he did come across as such an ass. I didn't get why he was like that and I didn't get why if they portrayed him as such, he became so nice, understanding and sweet without any explanation.... but I've come to realize that sometimes you have to just check some logic at the door to enjoy.

Thanks for the podcast. I enjoyed listening to it!

He was an ass only when it came to her and women, right? He was always nice to his colleagues and employees. I think after they broke up he did become somewhat bitter. He dated a bunch of women but never really fell in love again. He also moved on with life and never thought much of his first love again until his dire situation brought him to her. It was clear when they started working again that it was all about taking advantage of the other party but that close proximity must have brought back all the suppressed feelings from years ago and he found himself caring for her again. The same thing obviously also happened to Ji Young even if she tried to deny it in the beginning. They both rediscovered their love gradually, and very realistically. I can't even think of the one moment when Hyeong Joon realized he was in love again and I love the whole subtlety.

I loved the drama! Just finished it and have to put my thoughts together to write my own review.

About Hyung Joon--I think he was always that nice person and the confusing part was that the show kind of tried to show how he became more cynical over time through their relationship flashbacks but the flashback didn't get deep enough to show it, lol. Like I'm sure he got some superiority complex being a student of Seoul University (like his mom has of him even to the end of the show) but then later having him come out of that and not be living the life humbles him up. I guess I can kinda see the jerkiness in the beginning being him showing off because he knows he ain't all that. Some bragging like "my life is kinda shit right now but damn if I let you see it!". They never really explained him calling her names --I guess it's the aftermath of that breakup but I think they should have gone into it as well.

Overall, I really loved the show. I sometimes get really pampered out from lots of drama so slice-of-life things like this really just make me happy. It was enjoyable and I laughed and even smiled with characters. It's definitely a favorite of mine for sure. And I thought the show looked fine! It wasn't ugly for me at all. I liked the neutral tone, haha so it wasn't an issue for me.
