Lee Sang-yoon

• Heads, ask and ye shall receive. During an interview on March 30, Lee Sang-yoon said about a Liar Game 2: “The director, writers, and all of us actors believe the sequel will happen.” He went on to explain that barring scheduling conflicts, all involved hope to begin production on the project later this year or early next, after writer Ryu Yong-jae and PD Kim Hong-sun complete work on Pied Piper. [News 1]
• Best wishes to the new couple: Their respective agencies have confirmed that Joo Sang-wook and Cha Ye-ryun, who met on the set of Dazzling Temptation, are indeed dating. [Dailian]


Cha Ye-ryun, Joo Sang-wook

• Production company NEW and broadcast channel KBS want to show their gratitude to the 350 members of Descended From the Sun‘s cast and crew (unsurprising, given its crazy viewership ratings). The two parties are kicking around ideas, among them a reward vacation, but a trip may not be in the cards as many have moved on to other projects — another con of being entirely pre-produced. • The anticipated reunion of Yoo Ah-in with Song Joong-ki on Descended From the Sun will occur in Episode 13, which airs Wednesday, April 6. [Joongang]


Chun Woo-hee

• Chungmuro darling Chun Woo-hee (Han Gong-ju) has selected My Angel as her next project. She’ll co-star with Kim Nam-gil (Dorihwaga) and is currently discussing her character with director Lee Yoon-ki (A Man and A Woman). It’s not stated explicitly, but she must be taking on the role of a woman living in a vegetative state, the one whom insurance examiner Kim falls in love with. Cameras for the film begin rolling soon. [DongA]
• There’s still no official airdate for Hwarang: The Beginning, the sageuk about Silla warriors who were known as the original flower boys. It stars Park Seo-joon (She Was Pretty), Park Hyung-shik (High Society) and Go Ara (You’re All Surrounded) and will be entirely pre-produced. Filming began on March 31, and Hwarang will air simultaneously in China and on KBS, sometime before the end of the year. [Joy News 24]


Yuri, Kim Young-kwang, Shin Jae-ha, Lee Ji-hoon

• Director Jo Soo-won (Pinocchio, I Hear Your Voice) is making his first foray into web dramas with Chinese-Korean production Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Yuri (of SNSD, Neighborhood Hero) and Kim Young-kwang (also Pinocchio) have been cast as the leads, and it will be all about Gogh (Yuri), a 29-year-old ad agency employee, and her struggles to find love. Gogh will do anything her boss asks her to do, but she’ll revel in talking smack about him behind his back. Kim is a team leader at the agency, who’s surly and universally a persona non grata. At the receiving end of many of Gogh’s complaints, he pretends to vehemently dislike her, but he secretly thinks she’s cute. Lee Ji-hoon (Six Flying Dragons) is Gogh’s ex-boyfriend, who’s also her supervisor at work. No reason is given as to why they broke up (he’s described as a perfect guy) and I’m also not sure which boss she likes to talk shit about, but Gogh’s described as someone who likes to gossip about everyone, so perhaps she talks trash about both. Finally, Shin Jae-ha (Page Turner, also Pinocchio) has been added in an unspecified role. Van Gogh’s Starry Night will premiere on Sohu.com in China in June. [Joongang 1, 2, Joy News 24]
