Ji Chang-wook offered lead role in tvN drama K2

Healer-ya, you’re coming back! It’s been too long.

Ji Chang-wook (Healer, Empress Ki) is eyeing his next drama project, and it’s a tvN series titled K2 that comes from the writer of SBS’s smash hit melo-thriller Yong-pal, Jang Hyuk-rin (also of OCN thriller Reset). Ji’s reps have confirmed that he’s received the offer for the lead role, and is currently positively considering.

It sounds like it’ll be another thriller, centering around a bodyguard who loves his country and his fellow countrymen but is thrown away by both, as well as the hidden daughter of a presidential candidate who uses love as a tool for revenge. I suddenly have visions of Healer meets City Hunter meets Yong-pal, which is fine by me since those are all very pretty images.

The Yong-pal connection can be either a good thing or a bad one, depending on how you look at it. I recall being swept up in the suspense and unpredictable plot in the early episodes, and felt an excitement in Yong-pal that I hadn’t felt in a drama in a long time… although then the series faded into banal romance melo and familiar chaebol politicking and lost a lot of its steam. I’m going to look at it optimistically for now, particularly with director Kwak Jung-hwan at the helm, who has a distinct directorial style and flair (Chuno, Neighborhood Hero). One thing’s for certain: The drama is sure to be visually stunning.

K2 is in talks for a September broadcast on tvN, to follow The Good Wife. There’s another show angling for that timeslot, Han Ji-min’s Tomorrow With You, so we’ll have to wait for confirmations before we start making our countdown calendars.

I so want to JCW on a Tvn drama !!! At the same time this role has shades of Healer and Those Days- so I wish he does a completely different genre before he enlists

Cues I think he'll be also wearing black and wearing sunglasses ?lol what I'm saying
Anyhow our ji Chang wook ??is the best, hope will works out and be one of the best dramas

yeeeeee,miss him so much..i know he has two drama projects to be aired in China but not really my type because,dubbling voice sucks for me...I might be the minority that actually enjoyed YongPal(except last 2 episodes) so i can't wait

YAASSS! Finally a Korean drama! I'm happy it is TvN so there won't be too much live shooting. I haven't seen Young Pal so I can't comment on the writer. But from the synopsis it seems interesting! But I'm confused ,is JCW's character the one that will use love for revenge or the girl???? Anyways, JCW's character seems ok interesting, I kinda want him to be a disillusioned a**hole, heartless, maybe even cruel... I think there will be a love line, but I think it would actually be cool if he and the girl didn't end up falling in love with each other, or at least he faces some serious consequences for his revenging ways...
Hopefully, JCW accepts the role!

Amazing leading lady, please! I'm going to keep calling for Park Bo-young until she does a project with my fave leading dudes.

Ji and her were perfect together in the SPEED music video dramas, guh!

Sounds like city hunter. I'm not sure if I liked Yong pal. I loved up to ep. 6 then it got a worse

Han Ji Min drops out of "Tomorrow With You" so there is a good chance that "K2" will take over the September time slot. JCW will be done with a Chinese drama by June and then come back to his musical from Aug to Nov. I don't know if he will pick "K2" but I think he will definitely participate in K-drama this year since he has got many casting offers. I have a feeling that they will choose an older and gorgeous actress to act with him.
