Name That Drama: Stolen bras and something like but not necessarily cancer

As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Awkward roomie situation

There’s this drama about a girl who sells clothes, and her boyfriend’s cheating, and I don’t know why all three of them start living together and start selling clothes.

I’m just really frustrated right now, I’ve been searching for this drama for hours, but I’m tired. Please help meee~.

  2. Between “cancer” and “some illness,” I’m betting it was cancer. It’s always cancer.

I can’t remember this drama and it’s killing me. The only thing I remember is a woman’s husband had cancer or some illness, and they were watching a drama at the hospital. The drama they were watching had a character with cancer that was going to die. So the woman ends up calling the writer to change the ending for her husband and the other people in the hospital, which she ends up doing.

I feel like this is an obvious one because it’s pretty recent, but it is literally just out of reach. I haven’t got a clue. Please help!

  3. What do you mean, you think it’s a show?

I remembered one scene from a show (at least I think it was a show), but since I don’t remember anything else it’s almost impossible to google it. So I hope someone can help.

Here’s the scene: The female lead is taken to a separate room by a shop security officer because he thinks she stole a bra. They argue, and meanwhile, the male lead is coming to save her. But when he enters the room he sees that she needs no saving, because she put on the bra to prove that she wouldn’t steal it since it’s too small for her. I think the second female lead put the bra in her bag to frame her.

I think it could have been some modern story about cinderella where the female lead was the “stepsister,” but I’m not sure and google only gives me the drama Cinderella’s Sister, which I’m sure it’s not.

  4. Well, this one’s existential

So I actually don’t remember if this is a drama or a movie. In fact, at times I doubt that it actually exists.

Anyway, the drama/movie is about maybe five or less guys who have to take care of a child. It’s about finding the father of the child, I guess? I believe the child was the female lead’s child.

I’m sorry if it’s too vague, it’s been a long time since I’ve watched this drama, which was probably around 2011. But I could be wrong, so please find me this drama. I’ve been wanting to watch it again, all I remember is that it was funny. Thank you!

  5. Oh dear, I think I know this one, but I’m not sure I want to

Fellow beanies, this is a drama I remember not watching, but reading just the recaps. Does that count?

I don’t remember much, but all I remember is that the heroine (I think) falls in love with the hero (I think), but the hero and heroine’s parents are also in love. But the parents eventually concede and the kids end up dating.

I know this isn’t much but that’s all I remember, and I would love to know the title.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

#5 is Love Rain

In Sassy Go Go, the Parents got married in the end and he was asking his Mom (who was in the USA) to register him on her Family registry not knowing that there is 'No" Family registry in the USA. In the end he was just getting ready because their parent's were getting married.

It could be sassy go go, though, because first the parents concede and THEN the boy asks about changing his family registration, indicating he's going to tell the parents it's ok if they marry

I think #4 is Three Dads, One Mom. The female lead is Eugene. Three guys were taking turns in caring for the child while also figuring out who among them is the father. Well, it's pretty funny. I'm hoping this is the drama you were looking for.

#5 I think it's Love Rain

Yea I also think that #4 is One Mom and Three Dads but I remember watching it really long ago so it was quite surprising for me to find out that it was actually a 2008 show. I thought it'll be even earlier before.

Ah.. Feeling so nostalgic with that show.. The male leads are Jo Hyun Jae, Jae Hee, and Shin Sung Rok. Shin Sung Rok was hilarious in that show. Never I imagine he would be so good at playing villainous role like he did in his recent dramas. I really miss Jae-Hee in the screen. I wonder why he hasn't been active these days...

YAS! Truly nostalgic. Those were the days when my ultimate crushes were Jo Hyun Jae and Jae Hee <3 Now, it has been replaced by much younger actors such as Ji Chang Wook, Kang Ha Neul, and Sung Joon. Lol.

Didn't imagine Shin Sung Rok to be so good at antagonist roles too. I think he was the cartoonist, right? Or was it Jae Hee? Anyway, he was so hilarious!

@hellocam,

Didn't imagine Shin Sung Rok to be so good at antagonist roles too. I think he was the cartoonist, right? Or was it Jae Hee?

SSR played the detective. Jae Hee played the cartoonist... His haircut made him look like a living, breathing anime character. JHJ was an investment manager... Their deceased buddy (played by Yoon Sang-Hyun) was an architect, IIRC... Joo Sang-Wook played Mom's handsome construction manager boss.

SSR got SLS'd again in LOVERS OF SIX YEARS... and totally creeped me out in THE KING'S FACE. His performance in romantically raunchy HYENA is wonderful... His character is dignified and scrupulous -- unlike many of the rest of the cads, rakes, and bounders. And totally unlike the fanatical physiognomist.

I've been missing JHJ in Kdramaland since YONG-PAL... He was terrific with Seo Hyun-Jin in THE KING'S DAUGHTER, SU BAEK-HYANG, which prompted me to watch a bunch of his earlier works. Would love to see him in another sageuk.

0

It sounds like THREE DADS, ONE MOM to me, also. Epic bromance. Plus I think it set a record with 4 cases of SLS.

To the OP: Do any of these guys look familiar?

3 dads 1 mom Jo Hyun Jae sings ["Goodbye now" 이젠 안녕 (IJEN AN NYOUNG)"] (episode 14)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph3kFQaGMAo

I went bonkers over the song JHJ sings with the others around the campfire. I love the sentiment that saying goodbye is not an eternal farewell, but a promise to meet again in the future...

The original version is by 015B (1991). It pops up at the very end of the COFFEE PRINCE Special, when Kim Dong-Wook starts singing it a cappella, and then 015B's version continues as the outro.

Truly! The male leads are all too "ship-able" to Eugene. But I was rooting for Jo Hyun Jae's character the entire time. <3 hihihi

Trust us, Reply 1997 is a must watch especially if you're a Reply fan! The cancer subplot is a meta of kdrama tropes but executed really well.

0

Well, I don't know if I qualify as a Reply fan; I have only watched 1988 so far. I just thought 1997 looked interesting, and then, Seo In-guk, what can I say :P . But that's good to know, thanks both :)

0

i watched 88 first of the three in the series.. and i find 97 the least lacklustre..

Most of the folks have seen 97 first..and love it..

so keep your hopes in check.. better to be prepared!

0

@EZ

So you didn't think it was that great? I did find that Reply 1988 was actually quite good, once I spoiled myself about the blessed OTP and did away with the suspense and possible disappointment; the writing was more thoughtful than your standard K-drama rom-com, and I quite liked the humour. The three drunk ajummas were epic :) .

I will keep my hopes down, to enjoy it all the more if really 1997 is even better than 1988 :)

0

@Delurker I have to say that 1988 is a more complete product of what they tried with 1997 and 1994. 1997 was actually a fresh kdrama concept at the time (husband mystery, meta and pop culture references and even a gay storyline), and maybe I could relate more since I was their age during that time! The humor and meta was pretty consistent with the 3 series, and 97 is a faster watch compared to the next 2. Also if you're a Seo In-Guo fan then definitely watch it!

Hello there fellow Indian! :) Anyway the original film is Three men and a baby which came out in 1987 and starred Tom Selleck in it. It was pretty hilarious. Hey baby and this kdrama One mom, three dads are remakes of that movie.

Actually, "Three men and a baby" was the remake of a very funny French comedy, "Trois hommes et un couffin". I'm surprised to find out that both the Japanese and the Koreans have made remakes of it. Are they any good?

I was thinking this too! I haven't seen Love Rain, so the first drama that came to mind was Devil Beside You. The two leads are attracted to each other but find out their parents are gonna marry each other which will make them step-siblings!

If #5 clearly remembers the drama spoke Korean, then it's most likely not Devil Beside You.

Hi,can someone help me out please? Ive been trying to find a drama but I just cant remember the name at all.

All I remember is the hero and heroine are talking at the playground,I think theyve known each other since young. The female lead starts to talk about the time where she and another girl they both knew(I think she was the second female lead) fell down from a swing or something(Im sorry,I cant remember) and the second girl cried and everyone paid attention to her. The heroine then revealed to the guy that she did get hurt but didnt reveal it because people pay attention to the second girl more than her. She cried at home I think.

Sorry,thats all I remember.
I would really appreciate of someone could help me out here. Thank You!

Your description makes me think about "My Love Patzzi".
I don't remember if there was the exact scene but the main heroine is second lead's sister and the sister always gets all the attention. And since they are sisters, there must have been something like than in their childhood. But I watched it a long time ago so I'm not completely sure.
