Drama viewership ratings for the week of Sep. 14-20, 2020

Well, look at that, we’re in the last week of summer. We had some great dramas the past few months — some crazy and entertaining, some sweet and swoony — and I can’t wait to see what fall has in store. I’m personally waiting for more rom-coms to roll around, but with October coming soon, I’m also wanting something cool and spooky.

Anyway, this week, we had one new show added to the mix. Long-running weekend drama Once Again ended, Homemade Love Story taking its place. And as expected, Homemade Love Story kept those high ratings going, premiering to 19.9 percent. Meanwhile, most shows are still hovering around their usual numbers, and Record of Youth is still rising.

HOMEMADE LOVE STORY'S numbers are not really as high as ONCE AGAIN.

But what i do not understand is that RECORD OF YOUTH has higher numbers than DO YOU LIKE BRAHMS? Does anyone know why?

Homemade Love Story's premiere numbers are higher than Once Again's premiere numbers were. We'll see if they rise as high as the latter's as it goes on.

I loved Once Again...I have other dramas I'm watching, but then always like a family drama to feel good. Figured I'd give it a try and I'm onboard.

My guess is Park Bo Gum is a bigger star than Kim Min Jae or Kim Eun Bin.

I think that you meant Park Eun-bin (one of my favorite actresses) but you may be right about Park Bo-gum. He certainly has a lot of fans amongst the Beanies.

The impression I get is that the two most popular Korean actors in their 20s are Park Bo Gum and Yeo Jin Goo.

Because the PD, the writer and the actors of Record of Youth are more famous than the ones of Do You Like Brahms?.

Korea loves Park Bo-gum and family dramas.

Something is working in RoY that makes it click with k-viewers, it probably is more relatable to k-viewers. Will have to see next week if it manages to keep the upward trend.

I agree with comments that PBG is more popular than KMJ. PBG has more public recognition, and he's currently in the military to boot, he enlisted right before the drama aired 😆.

But...Park So Dam was in Parasite. Parasite was so loved and I think probably anything the cast does after the movie will garner additional interest. Hahahaha

Park Bo Gum is loved out there. Record of youth is already on all the top watched show in several asian countries and it just started. Some actors just attract the audience and he is one of them. Also on a cable network such numbers are real high and the show is a hit but on a public channel like SBS those numbers wouldnt be much so imagine SBS's show doing even less numbers. Tragic really. Public networks need to do something to get those big name actors back because everyone is running to cable lol.

Maybe it's not so much about having big name actors. Kim Min Jae and Park Eun Bin are both incredibly reliable actors. I think the rating has to primarily do with the scripts and overall production value. tvN series always felt that they had a larger budget. DYLB has a pretty solid script too, but it is an acquired taste and doesn't cater to everyone.

To be honest, I prefer DYLB than ROY, much more feels and great interwoven plots. But I do watch them both.

I am glad to see the streaming video return. Still only see Paypal as working payment method, but will keep checking. In the meantime I do click through those banner ads which apply to me.

There are no episodes of Missing this week because of production delays due to COVID-19 restrictions. It will be back next weekend.

while we are talking ratings, lies of lies is making history at channel a. if the story keeps the current momentum up, i hope the ratings keep going up for them.

Weirdly, I am not liking at all and I have loved all Park Bo Gum's dramas so far. Is it because of the writing? The direction? Or both? Probably. And for some reason I am addicted to "Do You Like Brahms". I usually steer away from 'melo', 'affair' & 'misunderstandings', but this drama has great direction and writing. Kind of opposite of "Record of Youth". Am I the only one feeling this?
