Kim Kang-woo courted for JTBC drama with Su Ae

Actor Kim Kang-woo (9.9 Billion Won Woman) is considering a return to the small screen as the male lead for JTBC’s Gong Jak City. It’s a mystery psychological thriller that has also been courting Su Ae (The Man Living in Our House) to be the female lead since last December.

Gong Jak City is to tell the story of a dark society that only survives through the sacrifices of a few, and hides its sinister side from most. Characters with different ambitions and psychologies from this society become entangled in a messy, tension-filled situation. In terms of casting, nothing is confirmed, but it’s been reported that Kim Kang-woo and Su Ae are both reviewing the script positively.

Kim Kang-woo really seems to be enjoying the thriller genre as this could be his second thriller drama in a row. In the meanwhile if you want to see Kim Kang-woo in something, his new movie It’s Before the New Year also premieres soon.

Written by Sohn Sae-dong and directed by PD Jeon Chang-geun (Mystic Pop-up Bar), Gong Jak City will begin filming as soon as casting is confirmed.

Honestly what happened to Su Ae? She is an amazing actress, as well as striking to look at, in both film and tv. She was top of her game, in the late 2010s to mid 2010s.

Did something in her personal life happen? It feels weird someone of her stature disappeared. She does rom-com well too, in Nine Ends, and Two Outs.

Yeah, I also ask myself. I don't follow k-gossip (or any other), so I don't know. But I hope it is nothing bad. She just wanted to have privacy and now she wants to come back. Or maybe she needs the money😅😂😅
Anyway, I don't like very much this kind of plot for her, but.... let's see what happens

Yeah if anyone knows, pls clue us in! Hope its nothing bad too. Maybe she has more $$ than we know, she did work at the top for a good time. Glad to see her back even if the plot sounds eh. Thriller could be a nice rebound from her prior romance drama, which wasn't the right choice.

Still extremely bummed about the Yoo Teo drama with her and the Misty PD/writer not coming together. Sighs :( When a perfect pairing happens, this is what happens :(

@soulsearch12 and @javinne

I am a bit late to the party but here is the only thing I found:

http://netizenbuzz.blogspot.com/2013/05/rumor-mill-celebrity-diseased-actresses.html%3Fm%3D1&ved=2ahUKEwjQjILF5-fwAhXLlYsKHTyLBmEQFjAAegQIBBAC&usg=AOvVaw30th3fOUYNge5gNc6jxhBw

It is a VERY old news, but apperantly she is known for having bad personality and being difficult to work with.

This was just a rumour, just like how that reporter anyhow spread rumours about actresses recently. No pictures, no photographs, I will not believe these rumours. Anyway, she was praised by her co-workers in the series and films that she has taken part in.

@nerdy The link is dead? I hope that's not true, but honestly could explain why despite her skills/success, she's sorta went back into the woods. Her other contemporaries have went on to further heights. A shame, I miss the 2nd generation actresses tbh!

@Aron I hope that's the case! Sometimes you never know!

Fun, haven't seen her in a while.

Her last work was a film in 2018. She was up for the FL in a SBS Drama by Misty PD/writer with Yoo Teo as ML. But after Covid delayed a lot of shows, she had to drop out, as well as Yoo Teo. Sigh, what could've been :(

Uri husband! I love the leads but I don't usually watch thrillers... best of luck to them if they accept!
