@yongsital Omg hey, its been a while! Just wanted to stop by and say hello. Hope you’ve been well!

Hey!! It has been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been well though! Well, as well as you can with this ongoing pandemic but still finding enjoyment in the little things, like kdramas. XD Hope you’re well too!

Omg! Hey! Nice to hear from you, it has lol. Likewise, yeah this has been an odd and strange time. I’m been enjoying kdramas, and honestly I thought of you when I was watching The Red Sleeve b/c of our convo a while back. I recall us talking briefly about actor favs, and I said his workout vid was the 1st thing that came to find about Junho LOL. Turns out, I should’ve payed closer attention!! I see the light!! Is he still one of your favs? Is his personality what it seems? I’ve so much to say lol, I always like hearing your objective view!

      1
      1

Oh yes Junho! Welcome to the light! I still love him haha! Even if I have yet to finish The Red Sleeve. Oh where to even begin. I’ve been burned so many times but I still ardently hope my remaining faves are good people lol Now Junho…hmm he comes across as a very objective thinker to me. I can’t think of an exact example right now but when I’ve read his interviews sometimes he surprises me because he says things that aren’t the expected, conventional answers. He’s also humble and remembers his roots, like how he always introduces himself as 2PM’s Junho vs separating his actor persona. But he’s also proud of what he’s achieved (and as a group) so he’s vocal about it and I like that. It’s a good balance. He can be serious sometimes but that’s part of his charm. I don’t think that’s one of those “cold” personalities that celebrities try to pull off. That’s just his personality.

You know what made me a fan? I started watching Just Between Lovers with no notion of who he was but feel in love with his acting. The way he embraced his character’s sadness and PTSD was phenomenal and I admit this show and his performance came at a time in my life where I was nearly as emotionally broken as the characters. It may sound silly but I found some form of comfort through not only the drama but his performance in particular. Anyways, in that period of time I came across an interview where he talked about how he prepared for his role in JBL. He said he rented a room in Busan and lived there by himself for a few days to try to live how his character, Kang Doo, did and to better understand his character. I searched and searched the internet for this interview a few months ago because I wanted to reread it but to no avail. 🙁 That dedication and passion for his acting was what won me over though. I had that moment where I thought, oh this one’s a keeper. He didn’t and still doesn’t see it as a back up or side job to being a singer. You can see how much he enjoys it and the dedication he’s willing to put into it, which is why I think he’s captured people’s attention. He’s slowly built up his acting career with solid projects.

Of course, I love his voice too. AND he’s a cat person. 😍 Anyone who loves cats gets extra brownie points from me.

        3

Gurl, I’ve seen the light and goodness its glorious. Man is a thirst trap!! He’s the hottest guy rn :D. Omo, I went ahead and read many of his interviews and IA. I think he’s grown a lot since, he was 16 when he became a celeb that’s gotten to have been hard on him. I did read up on his dating stuff lol, and I wonder b/c if you read his lyrics that he wrote, its sensual/sexy. Aww, I know what you mean. Yeah, he seems like a hard worker and driven. The fact that he read 60 books last year is super attractive! I think he’s a bit more careful now? b/c this is the same guy who broke 25 chopsticks w/ his butt LOL. He did say that an actor shouldn’t become too serious, so I think once he’s comfortable w/ someone, he opens up more and becomes goofy. I also think b/c of his big fame, he’s a bit careful he had that weird saesang incident w/ his brother in law.

Aww, sorry to hear that. I do hope you’re doing much better now. I love that he and the rest of the cast still talk fondly about JBL. Junho even said a few months ago that the role he wants people to remember is JBL, and how proud he is of it. I read that too! He seems a bit method, for Chief Kim he cut off from people and stayed in his house. Hold on, is it this interview? https://jerwiepenpan.wordpress.com/2018/02/05/eng-trans-180203-just-between-lovers-lee-junho-actor-who-just-fell-in-love-interview/ He works hard, he also majored in acting in college, and did theatre in high school. He also dreamed of being a director when he was young, so he was destined for performing (acting/singing). I read that he said he has 95% say over his scripts, and the other 5% is JYPE. Only quibble is JYPE did him dirty starting out, like had Junho not auditioned 3 times for Cold Eyes, I do wonder how they’ll manage him now since TRS performed so well. Plus, it helps that the man has aged like wine.Altho I do miss the bulkier body/cheeks of Wok of Love lol, I hope he can ease up on his diet. That bath scene was crazy. I did like that he said he doesn’t care if his idol stigma attaches to him, he said all he has to do is act well.

His voice is asmr quality. Its smooth and deep. Like he does his Insta lives, and damn is all I can say. His cats!! I love that he adopted his cat that almost died. He’s a cat dad, someone said that they want to see his cat pics on Insta b/c he hasn’t posted them in a while. I did notice his Insta pics quality got better compared to them. I do like the natural quality tho! I feel like he’ll choose his cats over his gf LOL.

As for TRS, it was an interesting show set in the guise of romance. Both LSY and LJH were epic, but LSY was the beating heart. It talked a lot about her role/lack of choice in that era, and there was this thread that said it wasn’t a love story but about LSY’s role and the system that trapped her. Its hard to put into words, but while I did feel his love for her, I did feel like time/history failed them.

          2

OMG yes that’s the interview and what a delight it was to read it again. I love him so much, just the way he expresses himself. 😭 Thanks for finding it. I must have searched the wrong side of the internet. But yeah definitely a method actor. Honestly, I’m up for any genre tbh as long as it gets a good script. I wouldn’t mind a nice romcom like Eazel said because he’s super swoony lol but you know I’m picky with my romcoms. Like I realized the other day why HomeCha was not for me. The romance was just too much! It was like loads of sugar piled on. I like a good romance but dimples weren’t enough to convince me. You know I just finished watching When the Camellia Blooms the other day and that was a nice romcom. Yeah it had the serial killer plot but in essence it was rather comedic. KHN was so goofy yet lovable. I’d like Junho to be in a romcom like that. In Wok of Love he was more of the suave, talented guy. A more down to earth character would be fun. I always bring up NGM but he’s just such a good example. How is he so versatile? He continously impresses me. How he goes from dorky Ahn Dan Tae in Gongshim to stoic Seung Soo in Stove League is beyond me. I’m glad Junho was able to work with him. I’m honestly up for him working with anyone but it’d be cool if qhe could keep working with respected veteran actors as I’m sure it’s a great learning experience.

I must warn you though, never watch him in Homme Fatale, if you haven’t already. That was a terrible movie and Junho…well it was not his best. I was so sad when I watched it lol. Honestly, I think JYP made him do it because they produced it and must have been like oh look we have this talented actor here. XD Poor Junho. But to be fair everyone else from the cast was terrible too. No fault of their own probably, must have had a bad director..and a bad script…

I actually don’t mind how his acting career has progressed at all. I never really felt like he was underappreciated or disregarded. Every project he’s done, he’s impressed viewers with his acting and his costars always speak highly of him too. He’s gradually built his acting career and it was a nice pace. TRS probably got him more recognition from the general public. I’m not worried about his fans either tbh. He’s been in the industry for decades now and I think he’s found his comfort zone and “figured out” how his career as a public figure works. 2PM as a whole are well established individuals and I like that they all seem mature and don’t feed the delusional fan/oppa relationship. I think Junho will do just fine. His fans are either Hottests that have been with him for years and the fans he’s acquired from his dramas aren’t the Hallyu fans because none of his works have really been international hits.

Have you seen this? His voice. 😍

@yongsital I also read that he forgoed makeup to keep the natural unhealthy look of his character. What is so ironic for me is I was listening to some 2pm songs a year and a half ago, and watching some of their videos and thinking woah at the skinship lol. No lies, I searched 2D1N back when I was into him, and they mentioned Junho. So I googled, and was like “Isn’t he in 2D1N?” Much to my surprise, it was another guy LOL. But I looked at his works, and was like “Damn, this guy chooses well, but he’s in the military.” It’s like how come it took a while to notice him, when I came across his works/listened to some of his songs? I liked the healing aspect of HCCC, but SMA was the star of it. I liked the supporting characters, but it was good. Personally, I like mature/raw love stories or flirty/hot ones for romance:D. If they could combine the skinship of Something in the Rain with the flirty nature of Oh My Venus, and a good story, YES!! WTCB was solid, but it dragged in the middle but it finished strong. KHN: Twenty!!

I saw him in Wok Of Love, and he was extra swoony there. I liked his more natural/casual vibes he gave there. Wonder if he’s one of those types that fall for his lead actress during shooting, and then out of it once it ends. https://twitter.com/berrybear88/status/1479430587811123202 NGM and him have such a cute friendship, he’s proud of Junho’s success. He’s been fortunate to work w/ such great veterans. NGM rose later in life, but he chooses well/mixes it up. I would love to see him work w/ Ji Sung/Kim Nam Gil/Kim Hye Soo!! All three of them have great reputations, and Junho would learn so much!

They could’ve leaned in harder for Homme Fatale, he looked good tho. I do wonder b/c JYP’s acting division closed, so who is managing his acting career? I wonder if he could go to an acting agency for acting, and singing for JYP? He needs to work in films again, or a Netflix project b/c he’s mentioned he watches it. You know he watched Bridgerton right :D?!

He talked about how he was waiting for his season, and it paid off. For acting, he said during his injury he auditioned for Cold Eyes 3 times, and started his acting career. It’s like they didn’t expect him to blow up/be this great actor? I think the shippers prob. need to chill a bit. He sisterzoned her, but until he’s part of a love triangle/rom-com, hes good for now ;). I do love that LSY said she was excited to meet him b/c of Nobody Else (jfc why was he shirtless?) He struck me as someone who has many interests, reading, films, singing, acting. That said,he chooses his scripts well, like he could’ve done several romances and he knows the in/outs of fame.Only difference is he’s the IT guy rn, so people are anticipating his next work. He might’ve big pressure to fill since TRS did so well, & many insiders say he’s going into the A List. I’ve several actresses who I want him to work w/, Park Eun Bin,Lee Yoo Young, Han Ye Ri, Son Ye Jin for ex. He also has great chemi w/ older women.

            0

I hope you don’t mind me asking, but its something I’ve been wondering about. I read that due to TRS, he’ll rise to the A List/earn 100K per episode! It does feel a bit salty that his prior works didn’t garner the same praise/ratings, but oh well 🙁 I’m really excited/curious about what he chooses next! I know he’ll continue to perform, but for acting I figured b/c of Covid he might have more time to do other works. He said that b/c of his music career, he wasn’t able to take on more than 1 acting work per yr. Speaking of, during Cold Eyes, Jung Woo Sung said he would come from touring in Asia, and coming back early to shoot. However, when he did, he wasn’t able to shoot his scenes but he still stayed till the end of the day. I was impressed by that. I’m guessing as his fan from before TRS, you’re thrilled for him!? I just hope he his fans don’t go too overboard. Like the whole Yoona pic caption debacle was so silly lol.

Are there any works/genres you want to see him tackle next? Anyone to work with? (I notice he has great chemistry with both men/women!).

P.S: Thanks for indulging in my long threads! Always appreciate our talks btw!

I can answer your last question: I want to see him doing comedy (I know he did Chief Kim and WOL), but I want to see him in a rom com, playing the clueless guy. He’s great with all those complex characters, but he needs to prove himself as a comedian. If he can do a comedy right, he will conquer the world.

@Eazl Hey! The more Junho, the merrier 😉

I was looking at my post and @leetennant mentioned him in a Pushing Daisies reboot. Basically he needs to do one! He’s the same dork who broke 30 chopsticks with his butt LOL. He was low key funny in Chief Kim. I want a fun mature romcom, with a bit of a twist. Did you see his SNL Korea skits? Lmao. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrMcgtP8SmA He’s done way too many gloomy roles lately, so for his mental sake as well, a romcom would be nice aha.

If anyone knows a production company who’s willing to do that Pushing Daisies adaptation with that cast, I’m in.

JBL is for many of us the reason why we are here. I couldn’t believe my eyes when searching for who is this amazing actor lead me to the Wikipedia page where I found he was an idol. What? And then I went to youtube. And then I was totally lost, no redemption for me.
Junho is my bias and 2PM is my damn wrecker. As you can imagine, what a year it was 2021…
I love him as an actor and I’m so glad to see him shine as he deserves. I never understood why JBL never got the recognition it deserved, because all the cast and crew was almost perfect.
But as much as I admire the actor, I’m a 2PM fan and I want (I need!!!) more of their music asap.

          2
          1

I really need to give JBL the proper viewing, instead of just chunks. Its great to hear what works brought them to be a fan of theirs. Its nice that the show has still remained and the actors themselves are proud of being in it. He’s a jack of all trades, and a really hard worker.

His Hobutt is iconic lol. He literally finished his service and went straight into promotion. I really hope he can have a decent amount of rest, but I doubt it 🙁 Its crazy how My House fancam of his blew up, and snowballed into 2021. Melo tear jerkers like JBL doesn’t get the ratings it deserves, but I’ve noticed many who have appreciated it. The PD of TRS signaled this work as the main reason why she chose him.

I want Junho to give us one or two more acting projects this year! Then he can do whatever he wants! But first, I want to see him in at least 1 more project before he does!

I recall hearing about Live Up To Your Name in passing in posts, & finally decided to watch it. Finished it yesterday. This show is a hidden gem! Kim Nam Gil + Kim Ah Joong’s chemistry was perfect!

KNG is comedic gold. I still recall the sound accompanying his comedic scenes. The chemistry was so good I declared KNG my Oppa for the last year (before I discovered KSH). 🥰

    2

Gasps! I remember your comment on KAJ’s post recently on here. But couldn’t comment further b/c I didn’t watch LUTYN lol.

But now that I’ve, I get KNG’s appeal more than ever!! What was he doing in all these Melos/dramas, when he’s on fire with rom-com/comedies? Dude is hilarious!! Most impressed by how one scene, he can be comedic gold, and the next makes you feel deeply sorrow.

Ooh so you watched the show last yr? Wonder whose going to be your Oppa after KSH next yr lol? Weirdly they sorta have similarities in terms of being goofy bts, but serious when it comes to their work. Of course, KNG’s more un-conventional w/ his choices and seldom does dramas.

      2
      1

Right 🤣🤣🤣 .. My heart changes quite often but that’s because there are so many good actors around. Hopefully I can stick with Baby for some time.

I haven’t seen KNG in other shows apart from LUTYN, so when you mentioned that he’s quite unconventional when it comes to choosing his projects this actually piqued my interest. I kinda heard through a grapevine that he’s that sort of person, but I never really did explore other of his projects besides LUTYN. I might have to check them out sometimes.

It’s so good to see you around here since we had so many good discussions about KSH during the running of Start-Up. Apart from LUTYN, are you watching any other dramas? I have marathoned Baby’s previous projects (100 Days My Prince, You Drive Me Crazy, Two Cops) and I really like them. I actually started Run On but it somehow gave me anxiety I don’t know why LoL.

Now I’m watching When the Weather Is Fine to reduce my anxiety level. ☺️ Watching KSH in various projects especially in 2D1N also has the same calming effect.

        3
        1

It comes and goes, although KSH is the rising star rn. He’s more in drama land, which makes it easier for I-fans to view his work compared to KNG whose more in Chungmuro.

As for KNG, he’s a goofy/funny guy in rl. But he has a heart of gold in rl, really cares about people!! Before his acting work, I was a fan from a far b/c of his philanthropic work.(I remember coming across that a few yrs back, & respecting him for it, since K-stars are reluctant about their charity work).

As for his roles, dude is unconventional, he does work that’s more on the work/than looking ‘hot/pretty.’ Even watching LUTYN, I noticed his talents first before his looks, as he tries his best not to look too good, but once he is allowed to look handsome as he is, you notice his dashing good looks more. He did Bad Guy which got heaped on badly on here lol. I heard One Day was depressing/good, and The Pirates was fun!! Hopefully if he accepts Island, with Seo Ye Ji/Im Siwan attached to it, he’ll get more praise from I-fans!! Sexy monster hunter KNG, sign me up!!

Aw, thanks!! Same to you as well! Yeah we had some great discussions about KSH lol. Altho I’m started to get a bit over him lol, in terms of over-exposure online about him. Sometimes I forget dude is about to turn 36 in a few months :O I’ll say that KSH does make it easier to fangirl b/c he’s on 2d1n/more in drama land than other actors.

          1
          2

Hehe.. true. Even with adorable KSH, I know that I’ll come to pass one day (I just hope that day is not to soon in this case). ☺️ I agree that he is now everywhere, but you may say that I chose to be blind in this case. He is just too cute. 🥰

I think I was wrong when saying I didn’t watch any other projects of KNG, actually I watched One Day and Fiery Priest for him. Agree that One Day is a little bit depressing, but the actors did a terrific job there. As for Fiery Priest, I know that many really like it but it was too action-oriented for my taste. I like things a little bit more fluffy and light; so even though I kinda liked that one too, I don’t love it as it’s not my go-to genre to begin with.

            1
            0

@mmmmm Yeah, I’m a fan of KSH. But I’m started to feel over-exposed on my end about him ngl. Lol, yeah you’re blinded by him rn teehee 🙂

On KNG: The roles he did when he was in drama land were middling minus 2009. So it’s nothing big to note, but he did look the same! Ah, I see! He elevates the dramas w/ his presence. I notice that he doesn’t like the emphasis on his looks, LUTYN/Fiery Priest seem to be his most clean cut looks lol. I hope he’ll pick something more your tempo in the future lol. Cause Island sure ain’t going be fluffy/light 😀

            1
            0

Kim Nam-Gil is my Forever Oppa. 🥰 I

Have you watched FIERY PRIEST @soulsearch12? It’s another great one to see him do comedy + action.

      4
      2

He’s so underrated by international standards b/c he doesn’t do mainstream/rom-coms!! Had LUTYN’s licensing deal not fallen through internationally, it would’ve gotten more love!! Hope his project with Seo Ye Ji/Im Siwan goes through, he’ll deservedly gain more I-fans/love <3

I seen clips/aware of Fiery Priest/his role with it 🙂 I should but I'm sorta not sure if it'll jive with me. Surprise in a kiddish way that it didn't get the same attention internationally. Oh well, but thank god he finally got recognized!! Someone said that he's the best when he gets to both silly+sexy!!

        2
        1

For a quick dose of silly+sexy, I recommend his film THE PIRATES (2014), with Son Ye-jin. It’s a fun swashbuckling film.

          3
          1

Yes!! I notice he lets his female co-stars shine, SYJ got the nominations for her role there. Him and SYJ (Allegedly made for a really cute pair in rl). They did an interview for Shark, and were so funny together. I recall being pleasantly surprised by his goofy/funny personality in rl.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pilkpWiXBLY&t=85s : Hilarious, KNG!! Loved when he said “You too, honey” to Ha Seok Jin who complimented him, haha!

Lol. I was going to tag the people who left all those comments here https://www.dramabeans.com/2020/12/lee-sang-yoon-and-kim-ah-joong-being-courted-for-new-sbs-drama/#comments

But I didn’t watch LUTYN yet, so my eyes glossed over until now! And yes I concur w/ everyone there that those two had c h e m I s t r y !! Towards the latter end when the two get together, I was like woah, am I invading on their privacy? Felt so real. Good actors!!

I thought KAJ really fell for him during the shooting! ☺️ If she didn’t, she was indeed a great actress.

            0

@mmmmm Perhaps? I think most actors fall/get sparks for their romantic partners as they shoot 4-6 months. It did seem both are a bit shy in terms of romantic moments, so I gather that they didn’t pursue their romance off-screen. Weirdly up until the SBS casting news, she was M.I.A in drama land after LUTYN? Perhaps she felt she couldn’t match the chemistry there jk 😉

            1
            0

I watched her first project when she starred with Joo Won in a movie (you might guess correctly that I was there because of Joo Won 🤣.) She was good there also, but didn’t leave profound impression on me. However, she really did turn things around with LUTYN as I think she made a terrific partner with dear KNG. After that I did search a bit through her social media, and found that she seems to be very introvert and has had no dating news! That was quite surprising, so I actually began to like her her since I’m also an extremely introvert person. 😅

            1
            0

@mmmmm If I’m being honest, I’m not as jazzed about her as an actress. But I’ll say KNG prob. brought out more of her charms in the show. She was steadfast/cool. Only quibble is I kept noticing her nose while within LUTYN lol :3

Haha, on the Joo Won thing! He’s another actor whose work was better when they first began.

As for dating stuff, she seems rather distant as a celebrity? I recall her tax scandal which had her banned on tv for a few yrs :O Her turning down Oh Hae Young was crazy looking back.

Speaking of that show, Seo Hyun Jin is another actress who I want to see KNG work with. Dude, is more in Chungmuro land, but his good looks/charm deserve to get a well written romance show out of him PLS!!

            1
            0

I quite agree with you saying that you want to see Seo Hyun-jin paired up with KNG. That surely sounds interesting to me since SHJ is indeed an extremely good actress. It appears to me as if after she won a Baeksang award, she has been paired with lesser actors. This might be for the sole purpose of backing those actors; so instead of shining brighter she had to work hard carrying each show. It might be her way of choosing projects, but I also love to see her being paired with ones that already belong or is above her calibre.

            1
            0

@mmmmm Seo Hyun Jin is so expressive/emotive as an actress. Love her. She radiates this energy that’s inviting/real. “It appears to me as if after she won a Baeksang award, she has been paired with lesser actors.” You got it! It’s why Male stars are able to rise faster in the industry than females are. It’s why noona romances do well, it props up the ML actor to new heights. It’s something that I’ve noticed in K-dramas in the 2010s to now, and its not something I’m a fan of. But K-dramas compared to films, do offer more better roles for women.

“This might be for the sole purpose of backing those actors; so instead of shining brighter she had to work hard carrying each show. It might be her way of choosing projects, but I also love to see her being paired with ones that already belong or is above her calibre.” This 100%. Kim Dong Wook her next ML is a respected actor, so she’s working w/ someone in her caliber but honestly she also has a SBS show up next. So busy busy she’s going to be this yr.

Gong Hyo Jin and Seo Hyun Jin PLS!! Give this man a rom-com PLS!! He said he likes that genre, and wants to do it but is attracted to darker characters. I know he’s not into rom-coms for his work, but I hope he re-considers!! These two ladies would be my pick, both solid/mature!!

Never heard of this drama until now. Just read the synopsis and it reminded me of queen in hyuns man which is THE top rom com for me. Nothing beat it until now. Not that I want it to be like that. But is it really similar? If so I would like to give it a try.

It’s like Queen In Hyun’s Man but more medical (ancient medicine) and romance mixture than solely romance based Queen’s was. Still, I think LUTYN is a good pick. Worth watching, the first few episodes are a fish out of water scenario for our Male lead, after that, it picks up into their romance/time travel. It’s on Netflix rn, in really good HD quality, so get it while it’s hot!

Np! I say if you want something that’s familiar yet has a tinge of different things going for it, I would def. recommend this! Let me know, if you watched a bit of the show, and how’s it going if you decide to watch it!

Hi 😁@yongsital and @hanie, if you don’t mind, can I can discuss our prior convo on my wall? If anyone has more to say about Kim Seon-ho’s career trajectory, pls feel free to be honest & jump in! 😅

I’m always up for more conversation! That other thread wasn’t giving me the Reply option anymore lol.

What type of role would you like to see him in? I was watching clips from Just Between Lovers the other day and it got me wanting a Kang Doo type of role for KSH. He’s had a lot of outspoken, funny, and charismatic characters. I want to see a more subdued and “ordinary” character for him.

Yay! Thanks for allowing me to indulge. For me, just saying an actor is hot is boring lol (B/c all of them are attractive), diving more into their career/what if’s are more fun to discuss!

I personally would love to see him take on a Ju Ji Hoon/Lee Je Hoon route, as in diversifying himself in both TV/Film. I would like to see him tackle on something like Signal, as a serious detective. Or Duel, where he can play dual roles, and showcase an evil side to himself. But also, something sexy/flirty lol?

It would be nice if he could a rom-com/romance show that is like Coffee Prince or Oh My Venus? (Something where he’s not too shy/too macho, but vulnerable too, but cool and sexy lol). Or something like 9 Ends, 2 Outs where we just see him and his female BFF live together in one space, and the hijinks that ensue from that! I feel like he hasn’t had a full fledged kiss scene or make-out scene or adult relationship in his dramas yet. I’m not saying Melo wise per say, but something passionate or sensual yet from him. So I would like to see that side whether in TV or Film 😉 (Film even better, since it’ll be more un-bashed lol)…

Oooh that seems interesting too. Or even seeing him as a villain you love and hate. There are endless possibilities but the trick is getting the right one!
If KSH does a full blown romance drama I’ve had Seo Ji Hye on my mind. I happened upon that possibility on Twitter the other day and now I can’t get the idea out of my mind! His relationships in dramas have mainly been cute little romances lol.

        1

It’s a shame that his next role, in his new play ‘Ice’ has him in a role that’s very different than the one’s he played on-screen. He’s starring in the role Kim Mu Yeon originated, as the prickly/hard mouthed/frank/aggressive detective. A role that calls for intensity/screaming/cursing lol. Maybe someone who works in film or tv goes to the play, as other senior actors who are well known character actors are going to be in the play. Perhaps, they can give him that role?

As for him, there are other actresses who I think would work well with him. Seo Ji Hye is one! Lee Se Young, Moon Chae Won, Seo Ye Ji, Park Eun Bin, Kim Tae Ri, Shin Hye Sun, Han Ji Min, & Han Ye Ri. Someone formidable in acting, and distinct in their looks PLS!! No offense to idol actors, but I feel like it would be nice if he steered away from that b/c it could bring unnecessary spotlight on his personal life imo. I think cast him with a younger actress Early-Mid 20s, and it could be off acting wise. Cast him with someone similar visually, and it could be off visually. But it also depends on the vibe they’re going for, is it for mature/melo, or fun/sassy, or flirty/sexy? I rather see him go for flirty/sexy mode lol, in a romance show. All of his short lived romantic scenes were all shy/sweet as you said teehee. I think showcasing a different side in romance (which he has done before in his plays, I mean I seen some pics/clips, and they were umm passionate lol) in his on-screen work would be a nice departure from his usual boy next door aura.

I know! Although the prickly detective role usually doesn’t bode well in kdramas as the writing tends to be lacking in procedural/thriller dramas. His plays gave him and will give him a greater variety of characters. He’s under smaller scrutiny as the audience is a minority so that gives theater actors more liberty of choosing characters without worrying about the general public opinion and their image. His theater characters were definitely more flirty, to say the least lol. I first came across him when he did the Closer play with Park So Dam and remember thinking it was a different character for PSD; it deviated so much from her previous works. To think he was her co-star. How I wish I had seen this play with both of them! All I got was a practice clip hah. I still watch it every now and then even if the audio is super low.

@yongsital Oops, I meant Kim Mu Yeol. I feel like he could do a Signal type of detective, nervous+talky role. I feel K-dramas sometimes drop the ball writing terms, & its due to the actors for me to continue with it. I remember he said after he got a bad play review on his acting, he got depressed, and walked 5 hrs by himself. He seems hard on himself.

I saw the promo clip for Closer, & it was such a diff. look/vibe I got! More seductive/sensual! I would like to see more of this side!!

You know what’s ironic, is I was aware of him in passing but I was more into his bigger named co-stars. I remember passing by 2Cops, (JJS), and only now do I realize in the poster that there was a man under the desk (KSH lol). Or in SDM, meaning to watch it for GKP last Summer, but didn’t (Then, it wasn’t available anywhere). But I kept hearing, that KSH stole the show & was better than the ML. B/c I was into GKP, I felt dejected lol. Even during CTG time, I remember the scene where MGY got stabbed, & I was like “Wait, her ML looks like an idol or a new actor?” Even prior to S.U, I was neutral on him (Realizing now that I’ve passed by his works, but never pointed 2 + 2 together that he was in it until recently). I checked his Insta a day or 2 before S.U, and he had 600K followers.

Did you see these pics?: https://twitter.com/seonhuniverse/status/1339167545903869953

Lucky woman lol! Altho, I imagine if he did it post S.U, it would be madness…

Same, I wish I saw the play back then. Dan, the role he played is a cheating prick. A departure from his usual on-screen roles.

@soulsearch12 DB didn’t let me reply to you all weekend otl so I just mixed both of our conversations. But yes, KSH has never been the name that draws viewers in to watch dramas. For Two Cops, JJS was the draw, for Deliveryman it was GKP, and even for Start Up it was mainly Suzy and NJH fans lining up to watch it. KSH was just the unexpected favorite for those dramas. So I think it was easy to pass on him unless you remembered his name from the start. I must say, that Two Cops poster is weird. I don’t understand it even after watching the drama lol.

I have seen those pictures! The girl in the green sweater is Park So Dam. That’s actually the very first time I saw KSH. Back in 2016 I explored the internet for anything Park So Dam related so I followed Closer from the start. They have the cutest backstage pictures! Obviously, I didn’t know who he was; I just thought of him as the cute lucky co-star of PSD heh. Then I saw him in Chief Kim and Deliveryman but it wasn’t until a few months later that I realized it was the same actor from Closer. I followed what his projects were but I wasn’t enough of a fan to watch Hyeri in Two Cops for him yet lol. He wasn’t really busy in 2018 now that I think about. 2019 was the year where I was 100% heart eyed over him though.

His fame throws me for a loop all the time. Some of my friends that only come across kdramas on Netflix know who he is. It always throws me off when I see them following him on IG or their usernames on his list of likes. I’ll ask them if they’re fans too and it’s always an immediate yes. It’s crazy and funny at the same time. Oh KSH, if only you knew you had fans all the way over here in my little rural town in the middle of nowhere, USA.

This is the first time I follow an actor on a variety show so I’m not very familiar with how shooting schedules work. I’m not caught up either to the episodes that overlapped with SU so I can’t say anything on that end. I have seen some comments, such as @silkwave ‘s saying he looked tired sometimes. It’s a bit concerning but then again I’ve always found the Korean filming schedules to be concerning. Then accommodating a member more than others may be inconvenient to the rest of the crew. I remember him saying no to variety so when they announced he’d join 2D1N I was honestly scratching my head. I remember watching about 30 minutes of episode one when it premiered and I had to stop because it was weird to see him in variety. I have grown to like it and I laugh a lot with all the members honestly but like I said I haven’t reached the episodes where he’s tired.

Did you see the article where he said his agency told him to control his expressions on 2D1N and keep the weird to a minimum? Ack! These are the things I start to frown at. Now he has an “image” to keep. How much is he going to have suppress now just overall, not specifically just on 2D1N?

            1
            0

@yongsital Ugh! That blows! I was wondering where you went lol!

This pic was cute, but at the same time made me a bit sad. He’s now a star, it feels incongruous to think he’s now going to marketed that way. To think, he was just in theatre/bubble where those things don’t happen. I hope it doesn’t get too much in his head. https://twitter.com/seonho_daily/status/1344834831838973952

Ha, that’s funny:2Cops poster. Ngl, NJH/Suzy’s names were the ones that piqued my interest regarding the show. I heard about it when it was going to be made, when it was Sandbox. I just recall people bashing on their acting lol.

He’s been around/everywhere, yet it took a lot of people some time to finally acknowledge/recognize him. He was great in CTG, sucks that he’s doesn’t seem to like the show that much.

Ah, yea it’s weird when you know someone before they blew up. Like a lil secret.

As for 2d1n, the only variety show I used to watch more than clips of was I Live Alone when the old gang was there. But honestly, I’ll watch them clips here and there. For me personally, it does affect my image of them. I recall watching Start Up, and 2d1n popped up, and it was during a crying scene. I was like, yeah need to slow down.

Honestly, his path diverting is just woah. He did say he was interested in variety, but overall would always say no to them. He said he wanted to continue acting forever, but something changed. For me, I guess I’m a bit unique in the case, that I prefer my favs to be low-key in rl, when they aren’t promoting/filming. I’m a bit afraid, he might F up & do something/say something controversial/in-sensitive on 2d1n.

Haha, right? I’m still like huh?? on him being on 2d1n, for someone who says he’s shy/introvert, that’s the last thing I want is people to know more about me outside the screen/variety. It doesn’t fit imo, I just feel like him going down the path of Cho Seung Woo/Ju Ji Hoon in terms of drama/films, staying low-key type is where I thought he would be. This whole entertainer thing cheapens him a bit (sorry!). I wonder if his F4 group lol still talks to him, he hasn’t mentioned their names in a while. I hope he still keeps those friends before his fame, there’s going to be lots of fake/hanger on’s now.

Yes, I saw the article! Yep, tick tock…At some point, he has to choose acting or variety. Yes, it greats the positive things he gained from it. But at some point, he’s one step/two steps away from blowing up. Not saying Hallyu sense, but a career defining role no?

I worry his comedic persona on 2d1n will affect his acting going forward. I don’t want to see him do slapstick (Waikiki), I prefer to see a more grown up/mature version of KSH, as an actor. He’s 4 yrs from 40 (35 in Korea), so he’s at an awkward stage in his career. So many of his peers, have gotten big/career roles at 33-38. He’s 2-3 yrs away from that. The choices he makes will determine his path. HJP is a start, but it’s not his career defining role.

            1
            0

@yongsital PT 2: Lol, turns out there’s plenty to discuss haha!

On his agency: Regarding monitoring his expressions now, :3. I knew it was going to happen. I feel like he has more pressure on him, esp. given how Korea is a lookism society/industry. He even said, a good friend told him to focus more on his face/skin a few yrs back. So he decided to go see a dermatologist.

I just worry a bit is I see two sides to it: 1) He stays on 2d1n, but at the expense of his acting career. 2) Would SALT forgo the possible revenue he might bring?. Another worry, is what is his path? Is to be an entertainer or an actor?

He can do both, but I heard that actors tend not be full time members to have that balance between their personal/public image. I wonder if he might feel obliged to fulfill those needs of people wanting him to expand on his acting career, now that he got more fans/expectations now?

Sometimes, I wonder if he wants all of this? He acted for 8 yrs on theatre, and was content/fulfilled by it, so it shows that he could just do 2d1n/plays. But the reason why 2d1n has him is b/c he’s also a drama actor. If he forgo’ed being a drama actor, there’s not much of an impetus to have him on 2d1n.

At the end of the day, he’s at a stage in his professional life, where has now has choices/offers than ever before. HJP was his star turn, but not his rise to A List Super Stardom. He’s now a hot rising actor. Of course, if he doesn’t choose wisely/goes back to the place he was before Start Up, that’s ok too. I hope SALT/himself don’t beat himself up as a result.

Crazy to think in 5-6 yrs, he’ll be 40. I wonder what actor or stage his career will be by that point. On a fan p.o.v, now is the time to strike when the iron’s hot. Him/SALT know that.

I think he likes Start Up b/c his acting finally got acknowledged. I’m curious if the public will still see HJP/or still crave HJP, in his next work? His other peers did rom-coms in their early to mid 20s. So in comparison to them, he can’t like build up about a decade of generic/fluffy work. I’m sure, he would hate that lol. Like you said prior post, I’m a bit worried that Kpop fans trickled into his fandom now. He’s 34 (35 in Korea) lol, just beginning to finally gain popularity. It’s so weird that the actors who got to do dramatic roles, were around his age. Ex. Cho Seung Woo (36) Stranger or Ji Sung (36) Kill Me, Heal Me. Is he going down the Lee Min Ho/Ji Chang Wook path of stardom? Or the Kang Ha Neul/Jo Jong Seok path of stardom? 1st one is celebrity/fame/seldom doing roles/or doing fluffy stuff to maintain their fame. Or 2) Private/Mysterious Actors who only come out to act/promote their work, & do Film/dramas, but don’t chase the celebrity lifestyle.

What is the path SALT whats to take him? What is the path KSH wants? Him working with Idol/Young Actresses could be a detriment when he gets older, b/c the work he gets might be just rom-com/romance which would stagnate his acting progress.

@yongsital @soulsearch12 I do think him being in 1n2ds boosted his career. 1n2ds is still one of the most loved variety shows in Korea (after more than 10 years) and it’s in a prime weekend slot. It’s also an age-friendly show, which means everyone in the family can watch. I do think being in 1n2ds was a good decision on his part and actually on all the cast part. KBS did a good job casting people for 1n2ds, they tend to have good chemistry and are well liked and that affection overflows to their other projects. I somehow think the reaction to his role in Startup would be lesser if not for his variety show persona. 1n2ds cast are kept in the limelight weekly when it airs, and their articles tend to trend as it is a very liked, family friendly show.

@katakwasabi I hear that a lot too about 2d1n, w/ helping KSH’s in the general public. Prior to joining, he was ‘unknown.’ I guess for us fans, we were perplexed at 1st, b/c dude himself said he wasn’t going to do any variety, so it was a huh moment at 1st. From a P.R perspective, it seemed to pay off well for him. Since he began later than his peers, it’s another way to gauge up more interest for him. I guess the only discrepancy is that as KSH gets more famous is how he’ll balance the opportunities he’ll get with also being an entertainer. And just worried how his mental/physical will be able to handle doing theatre/dramas/possibly films/variety & giving it his all, when he’s looked exhausted trying to give it his all :O Also, given how his agency recently told him to be more cautious w/ his image going forward on 2d1n…

“It’s also an age-friendly show, which means everyone in the family can watch.” Good point too! It’s good to get a wide spread of fans in all ages/genders! My grandma really likes KSH haha, so he’s def. appeals to all ages lol. I guess it’s apparent that it did help him loads w/ his confidence. I did notice a more confident/playful actor in S.U. I think all in all, the comments on this thread, stem from us grateful that he finally got recognized for his talents, but also worry about more expectations being placed on him for his next work. And how 2d1n will fit into his future prospects as an actor going forward, in regards to schedule conflicts/personal life matters/& such.

“1n2ds cast are kept in the limelight weekly when it airs, and their articles tend to trend as it is a very liked, family friendly show.” That’s good to know. Sometimes given the click bait titles that are mostly KSH lol, I get it. I just hope he doesn’t get into any controversies nor scandals during his time in 2d1n. My one silly ? is when you’re on a family friendly show, is there a say that he has to steer clear of doing any roles which won’t be family friendly? Or do they lay off of that? KSH’s next role is in ‘Ice’ & his role there is more violent/cuss filled/aggressive detective. I think that’s the only ? mark, I’ve is if he can’t do certain roles/projects b/c of 2d1n? Who knows what the future holds!? I say it’s best to enjoy the ride as it goes!

            > Sometimes given the click bait titles that are mostly KSH lol, I get it.

@soulsearch12 1n2d articles trending was even before Kim Sun Ho suddenly got a huge spotlight on him after StartUp. 1n2ds has been going on for years. It’s one of the highest rated weekend variety show for years. It’s also a representative variety show for KBS.

            >when you’re on a family friendly show, is there a say that he has to steer clear of doing any roles which won’t be family friendly?

No. Look at Yoon Jung Hoon. His latest drama was Lies after Lies. I didn’t watch, but the description sounds makjang-ish hahaha. Also…I don’t think Kim Sun Ho will play the bad guy on TV 🤣

            1
            0

@katakwasabi Yeah the click bait can sometimes get a bit racy/raunchy and it’s always involves KSH in it…Well they know what trends…

Yeah, I heard of the show due to S3’s fiasco. But yeah anyways, no matter who comes in/out, the show will prob. go on forever with a constant revolving door of new people coming in and out. It’s the nature of a variety show. As one goes, another one comes in. Plus, once you get to spend time with people like 2d1n does, you start to break down your walls.

“No. Look at Yoon Jung Hoon. His latest drama was Lies after Lies.” LOL. I watched it, and there was no kiss scene or anything in-appropriate. Considering KBS’s morning dramas/daily shows, its fine haha. He did whisper act, which was frustrating lol. “I don’t think Kim Sun Ho will play the bad guy on TV 🤣” Strongest Delivery Man lol? Sorta, he was made to out be a villain there. I want to see him try haha!!

P.S: The persona you saw a bit of in 2d1n, did he come across well in it?

            1
            0

@soulsearch12 So much to catch up on! In a nutshell, I’d like KSH to go down the JJS or Kang Hanuel route. They’re not Hallyu stars but they’re respected actors with solid projects in their repertoire. A few meh ones here and there but that’s inevitable. I’d really not like him going down the LMH or JCW route lol for different but very strong reasons. I don’t see him being casted in film soon as I think dramas are more of his target audience now. The thing is the kdrama industry is running out of ideas. I feel like there are less and less dramas I thoroughly enjoy each year. Some of them use old tropes too much and others try to be ingenious and end up creating weird dramas. 😅 I hope this Mr. Hong drama is one of the good ones, if they ever confirm him for it.

The 2D1N conversations are interesting. It just seems like a lot with the 100 other things he’s doing now. I don’t want him to leave the show because I do enjoy it but I wonder how long the cast overall will stick around. Also, if he’s enjoying himself it sucks to have to monitor yourself the whole time you’re filming…or maybe the poor editing team has to edit stuff out lol.

This is slightly random but katakwasabi reminded me of it by mentioning KSH’ popularity because of 2D1N…did you ever watch the episode where they had to go around a rest stop and see how many people recognized them? It was episode 1 or 2? Pretty much no one recognized the poor guys. It would be neat to see what the outcome would be if they did that again. Also an interesting way to see who KSH’s audience is. Kim Jong Min was the only one that was recognized and they were all older folks.

We’ll just have to see I guess. We’re just at a standstill of sorts waiting for them to confirm his next step. For all we know, SALT may just wait for his play to wrap up before announcing his next project.

@yongsital Loving this analytical talk! 🙂 PT 1 lol!

IA. KSH did say JJS is his acting idol. As JJS was a theatre legend, I do recall he did say JJS seldom gave him advice on 2 Cops lol. I too would like to see him go down JJS/KHN or Cho Seung Woo’s path. Him going down a KHN route would be dope! Altho KHN is very private, & seldom does fan stuff at all, which is a good thing imo b/c it creates boundaries. He also doesn’t do much variety, & diversifies his roles/stuff he takes on. But still is able to maintain a degree of privacy/normalcy, which is something I would like for KSH. Big fame/such could be a lot for him, & could change him :/ Actors who still do plays time to time, but also do films/tv. Private individuals outside of acting, which I prefer. Sometimes knowing too much about their personal life can be a detriment. He’s at a weird crossroads in his career. What kind of projects/things he does from now, will decide where he’ll land in 2/3 yrs.

Another aspect is the What If? is if he doesn’t capitalize on rn, it’ll seem like a waste of his looks, skills, and potential. He could 2 ways, an award winning actor or someone low-key like a Lee Joon Hyuk who gets ML/2nd ML’s in good projects, and under the radar fame/recognition wise. Or a Hallyu talent, like a PSJ (Better Ex?), a Heartthrob but slowly gaining a foothold in film/tv. The negatives are loss of privacy, more attention on his personal life, more secrecy, & being more careful/shrouded in interviews/his image now. More P.R controlled.

Do you mind expanding a bit on him going the LMH or JCW route? I assume by him doing works that’s romance based/appeasing his fanbase/agency? But not going for complex projects? Turning into a product?

He loves films, & he did say he was looking to debut in one. I do feel sad that he won’t be able to go to his local cinema & watch a film alone now 🙁 This was in 2019! Short time, so many changes occurred in his life. Rn, he hasn’t established a foothold in the TV industry yet. He said during Chief Kim, it was hard at 1st trying to break into the cliquey actors club on set. While he has a theater family, dramas are another thing. It’s a seedy industry like all industries are. As he goes on, he’ll be more aware of that, & might be jaded.

Yeah, I feel like there’s prob. a handful of dramas (tvN being my fav: Glad they offered him roles!), that I like every yr. But generally, you start to get burnt out from the same recycled stories w/ diff. leads.

I saw the film, & it was fine. The drama could do a better job expanding the FL/ML/etc. I do notice he tends to like slice of life dramas more. He mostly picks projects that focus more on character growth and less on romance. He likes to dive in deep on a character. He would be perfect for a Noh Hee Kyung (Goodbye Solo/Live) or (Shin Wonho/Lee Woo-sung) Reply/Hospital Playlist writers dramas. Their shows are more focused on character growth, & their relationships w/ others than just romance.

        @yongsital PT 2, lol sorry!

Mr. Hong, it does seem like a show he likes.Slice of Life/Character Based. Unless it’s written by the writers I said above, they don’t do well ratings wise. Of course, ratings doesn’t = quality, but for KSH, it does help to be attached to a show that does well. It helps his future prospects. He does seem to want to do well, & get recognized for it. Start Up praise for it, made him greedy to struck lighting again. Just feel other than him/SMA being in it, it sounds boring. Whereas Link, has a role where it could show a diff. side to him as an actor. Fantasy/thriller/melodrama also sounds more interesting, and he’ll be able to showcase his diff. skills in a more grown up way?

If he gets to do both dramas, we win! tvN is a great channel, even their meh dramas are still good. I hope that the FL’s are strong/charismatic actresses who are in his age range. I think pairing him with younger talents, was a reason why him/MGY (Waikiki 2) couldn’t do more romantic scenes. It does seem that if he does do a romance genre, he would excel. He has the soulful eyes and affectionate demeanor down pat.

I’m loving the 2d1n convos. I’m 50/50 on it. I know it’s helped him, & all but realistically speaking, another side of me is hmm about his prospects as an entertainer. Lol at 100 other things, its good to try things out, but I wonder how he truly feels. This is someone who acted for 8 yrs w/o huge pay/much press (Yes, he was very popular) b/c he truly loves theatre/acting. So all the things he’s doing now seem like a huh? choice given his previous stances on acting seemed to have changed from someone who was mostly gungho about acting only (w/ hesitations about joining variety) to also dabbling in the entertainment world.

Again, it’s a 1st for me seeing an actor who has the potential from cementing his status as an actual star or renewed actor in the future. It’s exciting but nervous feeling? He’s an actor, lol. JK, there’s prob. some scripted stuff. I’m just curious other than his acting career, what will happen with things outside of acting (variety/hosting/etc), if he dive more into those things? Or realize that he just wants to focus on acting full time? Some aren’t cut out for those things, altho KSH did well MC’ing. It still feels odd to me lol. It really feels like he’s a star now :/ Un-reachable as you said before. It’s like when you discover someone, you want to keep getting good offers, but also feel like wanting them to stay at their fame level, as in having a good small fanbase, but noting too extreme/hardcore. As you said before, seeing K-pop fans trickle in his fandom now is a bit worrying ngl.

2d1n has an older fanbase (elders),but its been slowly changing a bit? The show’s clips on YT that have KSH as clickbait do well, but on SNS on their lists they post on Soompi,it’s #10 & #19 for most beloved variety shows 19′. So it’s regarded, but not trendy.

IA.I wish he could do both.Worried/excited!Ah, the wait!

          here I go🙃
Nothing against LMH nor JCK just fyi. But LMH for example seems to always play the same roles. They are “different” characters but they seem to require the same acting range from him. Whether it be LMH himself or his agency it seems like they choose to stay in their safe zone. If that rows their boat and makes him happy, good for them (I’m being sincere, really!). It worked out for him because he’s consistently popular. But it’s not a career path I’d like KSH to go down. I’d love to see him tackle challenging characters, have him be adventurous with projects. JCW just has terrible luck picking projects, the poor guy. It’s just one of those oddities where he’s well known but his dramas have gone downhill since Healer. I never watched it but I know it was a much loved show and his hit drama.

It’ll only go uphill from here on out for a bit for sure. Honestly, it’d be unreasonable for him and SALT not to milk the moment. It’s a golden opportunity that they got unexpectedly. Like all things, the uproar over KSH will die down a little over time. I don’t know how celebrities and actors deal with all this lol too much stress and variables and change. You win some, you lose some. He probably won’t be able to walk as freely or drink coffee at a cafe or watch a movie in public as easily but me thinks he’s enjoying the moment right now. He’s relatively a rookie of sorts in the industry but I’m sure he’ll find his balance.

Btw, do you think SMA’s side may be delaying their decision on Mr. Hong depending on KSH’s casting? They media played it so much a few weeks ago and there’s absolutely nothing on it now lol. Just give me good writing and I’ll join that ship!

LMH/JCW don’t do anything for me, looks/acting wise. I just hope KSH won’t do racist drivel like BSR ever!!

You’re kinder than I would be lol! Stars have to maintain their image, & what works for their success. Actors are diff., they challenge themselves, might miss/flop, but takes some risks/grow. As for LMH, he’s doing Pachinko (Great Book), so who knows? Ditto on JCW’s career path. It seems messy, & cluttered. No direction from his agency/himself. He also looks a bit plastic surgery like, neither there/here for me an actor/person.

The plus side is, KSH debuted later than both guys. They did fluffy work in their early to mid 20s to gain a footing. But KSH is 34, don’t see him doing those works they did to get a footing. That would be a stupid career decision/path, as he’ll get more better/mature work in his late 30s if he chooses well rn.

He’s at an age where it’s now or never. If he got it at 37, it might’ve been a bit late for him/SALT to usher in his career into new heights. I think he’s enjoying it too. In 16′, he told his fan to take a pic of him. That does suck that he’s losing that ability to do things freely. Even though he may come as shy, I do think like most actors, he likes getting recognized for his talents.

Speaking of, did you hear about his background? I’m so proud that he came from the slums, to where he is now thru hard work/himself. He seems humble about his background, and appreciative of where he is now.His mom told him if he gets known, is to help those in need.

He took a trip w/ his BFFs in Feb,& looked happy/carefree there. Downside to fame, esp. given Korea’s idol worship of celebs. He can still go out, see a film alone, but he’ll have to be more careful now. In 18′, he said he would go to cafes & play w/ his friends. Even Hallyu stars like Gong Yoo said it’s a lonely life he has to live due to his fame 🙁

As for SMA, she’s a bigger name & #9 on Highest Paid TV Actresses. I think a bit of both? What I realize for castings in K-dramas, is they offer the deal to both stars, but it’s not 100%. She’s at 50%? It’s not until it gets closer to the release date, when we see actual confirmation. Even then, a FL or ML could change due to schedule conflicts. For SMA, I worry b/c she’s attached to 2 other dramas. Here seems the most certain, since she confirmed, but it’s been delayed since 19′. That has a bigger star cast/writer, so if that gets the ok, she might drop Mr. Hong 🙁

As I said, I love SMA, as a person/actress. She would help KSH in the romance genre as she did w/ LJK. Also a great experience for him, as she’s a veteran in tv/film. Him working w/ her bodes well in his career, as she’s worked w/ only big names/legends. It means KSH’s future co-stars could be similar A List level/Hallyu star. Both said positively reviewing lol. I think KSH is awaiting SMA’s confirmation too? Plus, she’s attached so dating rumors wise, he’ll be less burdened? I’m not sure how he’ll handle those rumors in the future.

            @soulsearch12
I’ve never watched LMH nor JCW in a drama. I tried Healer and dropped it and I’ve never started a LMH one. I’ve only seen clips here and there and I just don’t care for their acting but that’s just my personal preference. In a roundabout way, if Hallyu stars/actors take up the more mainstream dramas, so be it! I find it as welcomed news so that my faves don’t get attached to those dramas. 🤭

I’m all about original characters and sometimes an actor can elevate the quality of a charater with their interpretation. I’m honestly not too concerned about KSH doing rom-coms because I don’t think it’s the trajectory he has in mind for the long run. So if he does one or two, like you said, I’ll just hope it’s a good one and see it as him paving his way to dramas with more substance. Oooh and I hadn’t thought of it the other way around. Maybe SALT & KSH want to see SMA attached to Mr. Hong first. I know who she is but I’ve never seen her in action but I’m sure KSH would feel honored to work alongside such an established veteran.

I vaguely remember reading about his background. The one thing that made an impression was how their home was broken into and they were injured. That’s terrifying!
Do you think he’ll have enough of a break to take some time off to relax? I feel like the guy is going to need a recharge soon with all that he’s been up to. Recharge and come with a fresh mind to your new project, whatever it may be!

            1
            0

@yongsital PT 1:NGM: Maybe?Usually for females, when they get married, unless your established,it’s hard. But for NGM,b/c he is established now, I think he’ll be fine. Even Jang Hyuk, has slowed down once he got kids. He’ll still get offers, but maybe not work as much (His personal choice too). Granted, dude works 2-3 dramas a yr. So he’ll prob. do a drama every yr. Him not being a rom-com guy helps his offers/versatility!

Jang Hyuk: Was in the industry since the early 90s, so he’s been grinding hard. Plus less competition back then, so he was able to rise w/ meaty roles. There’s a show called Into the Sunlight which seems primed for a remake. Something natural, but character driven, which would be good for Seon-ho. As for him getting Chuno, crazy right? He was already a big name moreso in the 2000s, so he was just in the right time/place to get a career defining part like that.

Joo Won: Loads of actors turned down Bridal Mask b/c of the Japanese thing, not to risk their fanbase there. I heard Lee Seung Gi was offered and said no, so KBS rumored to have blacklisted him. So JW was the only one who said yes, & KBS gave him 2d1n/Weekend drama as a gift.

I thought about this but, one person turning down a role could be one’s fortune. Yeah, hard agree. Why is it that in K-dramas, visuals triumph over acting? Some actors want to look “good” all the time, its feels stagnant. I hope he also sticks w/ his acting principles. Of course, Korea’s beauty industry is demanding but I think for the most part he doesn’t care? In S.U, he has smile lines, and isn’t afraid to cry ‘ugly’ (Yeah that’s a thing, some actors don’t emote in fear of looking ‘ugly’ huh?). He did say he did put more effort into his appearance since being on TV. He said when he was on Chief Kim, he thought he had to lose weight. And didn’t put lotion on his face until he was on tv, lol. Please no botox/weird surgery procedures PLS!! I want him to age naturally, don’t mess up your face!

He looked sorta douchey w/ that hair color/jean jacket combo. Lol, at that being his only outfit. He looks the best in his regular hair color. Even in CTG, his hair color was nice too. Bit of color that’s not too flashy is fine. He’s not a Kpop idol. Light hair colors look weird on his skin tone.

His former SDM co-star Ki-hoon referee him to 100 Days PD, who said KSH fit the brainy sexy guy quality lol. I came across a scathing review/comment about KSH & his 2d1n persona. It said he doesn’t try hard/slacker compared to Yoon Shi Yoon, & he’s dumb as rocks. Damn, look I don’t watch the show, but ouch. She also said for the sake of his acting image, he pulls back. Like he has strong physical abilities (rock climbs well), but his physical stamina is weak. It made me think him being on this show is making him seem like a slacker/dumb guy :3

On 100 Days: Some said they got 2nd Lead syndrome lol.But it seems he wasn’t in the show that much to make much of an impression judging from your comments.

            0

@yongsital This is the correct reply, ignore the NGM one!

Haha, same here! I only watched a bit of The Heirs, and dropped. Same with Healer (Not from acting, but wasn’t in the mood for it). Lol yep, I mean even if KSH doesn’t end up in that route. I much prefer him to have a Im Siwan/Jung Kyung Ho route of doing weird work but also some mainstream work. Mixing it up every now and then. Longevity is key. He may not be a trendy actor, but he’ll be able to take part in some quality projects. I also hope he’ll debut in film after establishing his place in drama land. He would kill it in film, & get to do some wacky/transformation parts.

Same. I just want to see him do 2 full rom-coms/romance show to get it out the way, and also b/c I want to see him in a proper kiss scene! Just give me smart FL, and sexy/flirty banter/skin-ship!! It’s unfair his plays show that, lol 😉 It’s how he gets his fanbase to grow, but IA, he’s someone who picks characters based parts than romance, so it’s not his future path. Unless, he gets a Hallyu role in the next 2-3 yrs :O

Speaking of, I wonder if kissing actors over/over again does anything? Wonder how he’ll take dating rumors lol. He’s so affectionate to everyone, that I’m sure his FL has been confused before!

SMA only has Here, that could get delayed again as LBH is filming a film in March. So Mr. Hong has to get made ASAP!! It’s weird how other shows are showing teasers. Maybe after Mouse? SMA is great, very emotive, and has a powerful on-screen presence in both TV/Film. She was doing romance in TV until Chief of Staff (More dramatic/bad-ass), and Diva (Thriller/Horror which she got a Korean Oscar nom for Best Actress). He’s in good hands lol. She’s also a kind/lovely person in rl, she donates 100K annually to burn victims/visits them in hospitals. I’m glad if it occurs, he’s going to be working w/ a good person too. TG it’s not an idol or young actress. It’s why he and Moon Ga Young didn’t have that chemistry. Also Lee Joon Gi said she helped him w/ kiss scenes lol in their show, so it’ll be a good thing for KSH to learn from her/gain more experiences w/ a veteran like her. She’s worked w/ legends/big names, so KSH joining the ranks bodes well for his career!

Right, I can’t believe he made it out intact & became a kind person. I’m proud that he came from nothing, & from a poor neighborhood to where he is now. Very admirable.

Personally esp. given the fast pace of the industry, nope 🙁 On his day off his play, instead of relaxing or mingling w/ his theatre mates, he has to do a Tik Tok fan meeting :O Which sure is nice, but eh too much fan service ain’t a great thing sometimes. Boundaries y’all. He might be having a very brief break, like 1 day off. He looks tired, if you see his eyes. He said in a 18′ interview, that he used to have lots of stamina, but w/o a break, he feels tired.+His play ends, he’ll jump into his next work soon after.Maybe when he’s settled down/w/kids, he’ll rest ://

@yongsital PT 2 Srry!: I heard the show is cute, but nothing memorable other than D.O’s performance. Speaking of, remember when he used to wear loads of accessories? He wore rings/bracelets at 100 Days press conference, before he was w/ SALT. (Speaking of, they don’t confirm projects for their actors, its annoying lol!) & after never wore them again. He still wears his ring in private pics.

I think that’s a good idea w/ SU/2d1n. Even I’m a bit on burn out with KSH rn. Altho, weirdly, I feel that moreso for his SNS side. I feel like objectively speaking, its given a false image of KSH being the new IT Guy in Korea, when its just overhyping for a few I-fans. Not everything he does needs to get praised, I guess it was too much for me. I hope his new fandom can pull back a bit lol.

The fan service stuff is a bit corny/cringy (Srry KSH!). I worry that he has to PR/social stuff for the sake of doing it, when he doesn’t want to do it. Judging by his Insta, he doesn’t seem to care too much about those things. I saw a shot of his Insta in SDM days, & he followed 127 people which is the same as now (like 7 more), he had 5K followers. He deleted a pic w/ his 2Cops 2nd FL star/ALS challenge. I wish he could take a pg. from Gong Yoo, & play it cool. As in not too much, altho that might change in the future depending on his future choices.

I do the same as well, see other actors works to kill time. I hope he gets to do both Mr. Hong/Link, altho Mr. Hong seems likelier. Just hope SMA confirms, so he can. One thing, its weird that other shows for 1st half have filmed now, so what’s the deal? His play ends March 21, so he’ll have to move fast. Again, dunno how he’ll work his schedule out, but hope he doesn’t wreck his health.

P.S: I know both of us are excited for his new journey to begin, but also a bit jaded by the possibilities it could bring too. As you followed him way before S.U, how has all this new change feel?

Also thank you for allowing me to indulge in this talk. Much appreciated <3

I’m back! Between being super busy and DB not cooperating I haven’t had time to sit down lol.

I don’t know if anyone is ready for a full romcom with KSH lol. Am I ready? Heh, I am actually. I’m all in for seeing him play a character that falls in love and makes everyone swoon! I’m sure he can pull it off. Mr. Hong doesn’t sound like a pure straight on romance though. So maybe we won’t get what we want in that drama. It really sounds like Mr. Hong might be more character driven with a slow burn type of romance. I’m good with that too but we’ll just have to wait for a good romcom I guess. That is if he ever confirms Mr. Hong, which by what you say, we may not get a confirmation at all, at least not from SALT. For all we know we just might get a filming picture one day. 🙃 Totally ready for SMA to confirm too. If not, I want to know who else might be in the works. I do appreciate the fact that she’s a good person outside of acting. The industry is unfortunately tainted by questionable actors so I hope KSH never ends up working with any of them. Or with talentless actors…idols actors. Hyeri was enough for him to cross paths with (sorry!). They just bring down the entire quality of the drama with bad acting. If he works with idol actors please let it be the good ones. You know what I would also like? A bromance centered drama, as in no love triangle involved. Something along the lines of Two Cops with him alongside a veteran actor. Two Cops was wasted potential tbh. Like a brotherhood type of relationship and in a more serious drama. Idk, I’m just spitting out ideas. I’m going to cross my fingers that he works with some of my faves in the future though!

            @soulsearch12 PART 2
Plays seem like they’d be really tiring too! Having to perform consistently for months in front of an audience. Wow. Shooting dramas is a challenge but theater seems to have it’s own challenges too. Seems like he’ll be very busy in the next few months. I did see that Tik Tok event. The promo/teaser/whatever you call it (lol) with the rice is actually what I saw last week that topped my KSH overdose. Not judging anyone that likes Tik Tok but I personally don’t get it (?) so seeing him even having events planned on that platform just had me throwing my arms in the air. like is this necessary? Anyways, I’m not SALT, just a fan. I’ll just sit back and skip a few of KSH’s schedules. I’d much rather read interviews than see him wink at my screen. 😁 Ok…so apparently I have a lot to say. For example, before he would do the little finger heart thing. He’d especially do the whole act where he’s “looking” for something and he’d pull out his finger heart from his pocket. It’s so dorky and silly and everyone does it but it was funny! It came so naturally from him at the randomest moments. Those where the good ole days!! Now he does finger hearts and wears the bunny hat and I catch myself wondering how much of this is KSH being Kim Seon Ho and how much is KSH being the IT guy (as you mentioned) catering to a new fanbase? Is this the image SALT is projecting? I’m not saying he’s not being sincere because I’m sure he’s enthusiastic and invested in his career and success and appreciates his fans. It’s just that when you do something too much then it’s not as special or funny anymore.

I sound like such a debbie downer and if anyone else is reading this they probably question how much of a fan I am lol. This is the first time one of my favorite actors skyrockets in popularity. I’ve either become a fan after they’ve established their career or my faves have always remained on the down low. I’m used to rooting for the underdogs alongside a relatively small group of fans. I do think he will “lose” some of the newly attached fans in the next months. First of all, I don’t think all of them will follow him with his play. His time in theater is for his domestic fanbase in Korea. International fans can’t really enjoy those. Pity. Some of his SU fans may lose interest, not intentionally obviously, just naturally get interested in other actors/dramas. Others, I’m sure, will wait patiently for his next TV project. Anyways, I still love the guy (realllllyy!) but these next few weeks will be my detox of sorts haha 🤭

Btw, if I recall correctly, the 100 Prince press conference is the most memorable for all of his accessories. Idk why he had so much that day because he never really wore/wears them for press conferences.

            1
            0

@yongsital Keep hearing about DB having issues, strange. Hope its been fixed! Take your time w/ answering/giving your thoughts! No need to rush, it seems like it’ll a while before we get any news on his next work!

PT 1: Turns out there’s a lot to say about KSH HA!

Romcom: Well dude has CHEMISTRY w/ anyone/anything! A chemistry magnet. I find his gazes more swoony/real, so if he does a full romance genre, whew! His scenes in YDMC (I know it’s your least fav of his), but I loved the down to earth/more ‘real’ aspect, like I would know that guy in rl type of vibes which is also something he seems to gel towards.

Is it sad, that I’m a bit heartbroken about that? I think it’s b/c while going down the rom-com route isn’t something I want for him. I do want him to do a few of those (not the sappy/childish romance), but I want to see him in something where he gets to be sexy, flirty, and seductive lol w/ a FL that’s strong willed, independent, and flirty too ha! He’s 35, not 25! Given K-drama news, I notice they confirm the cast like months after they began shooting lol? We’ll never know until we see the pics/table of them reading the script. Wut!?

Bit worried for SMA, b/c she has 2 other projects she’s in talks for. Same, there’s so many shady/seedy people (who are still working EW). Don’t want SH to work w/ those type of figures, I seen some actors who are in those crowds and honestly, I side eye them. I wouldn’t be surprised, that the more SH works in the industry, if he’ll get jaded by it one day. He did say theatre is his beginning and his end.

“I needed time to adjust to the atmosphere in the field. I even thought about quitting after Chief Kim.If the theater was a forest, the drama scene was like a desert. It felt like everyone cared about their own work. I found out after a while. The drama scene is going around so fast and the staff members have been through so many people that they just didn’t have to come forward.”Seems he hasn’t adjusted to drama setting.

Other than Nana, idols carry baggage (fandoms/hijinks)him & Yoona while cute, doesn’t really inspire much confidence/interest. I heard Hyeri bogged down 2Cops :3 Altho that show got flack for bad writing/acting minus 2 ML’s. KSH is friends w/ one of the Hospital Playlist actors (Jung Moo-sung) from his plays, so him in that type of crew/show working w/ those writers would be such a good fit for him!

But it does Here (Which she confirmed for) was pushed back, & LBH (ML in Here) has another film for March. So it’ll get pushed back, as the other cast got a D.U.I (SMH), so yeah. I hope she confirms, but it’s a bit concerning that other shows have been talked about for months, are airing soon. So I think Mr. Hong might be March/April release if they’re trying for 1st half of 2021.

Speaking of tvN, the CEO of their TV department, said he’s one of the stars they’re looking to work more w/! tvN &/ or Netflix is a good thing as he’ll get more quality scripts/cast/relationship.

            @yongsital PT 2:

I heard KSH did well for Ice (Preview),he curses a lot. Seems like a diff.role for him to stretch his talents out! Wish he’ll do a role like that on-screen. He said doing 2Cops/Play together killed him/never again. His Nov. V-Live was more charming/less P.R driven. His Dec. V-Live, he read an instruction that said”It’s been so long since we met!”& then he said that right after. It’s 100% PR/SALT. Yet, SALT doesn’t do this 4 their other actors?Ha, ikr?I mean it’s nice sure, but cheesy? He’s 35,like why is he being pushed to do cringy stuff? He said that he’s not a SNS guy,& doesn’t want to feel pressured to post/will only do if he wants to.It does seems like he’s a star yes, but too much of this could turn off his OG fans. Same boat,I don’t check his SNS stuff as much b/c it feels like SALT/or etc. is pushing him out more.I also much prefer to read interviews/(tidbits before his fame). Didn’t he say he wants to be seen as sexy/be sexy? Surely, these things don’t seem like his doing. He’s a rising star, yes, but hope they ease on the cringe fan stuff. He’s an introvert, so wonder if this is all too much?

He’s not an IT guy (I thought so, but that’s a bit soon for him), but a rising star now that has more eyes on him than before. Even the dimples/smiling seems a bit much now?Don’t get why they’re pushing him to this cutesy act?It feels unlike him, his Nov. V-Live seemed more real. IA. Of course, he’s a goofy/dorky guy, but when one starts to over-do those aspects, it start to feel image/PR driven.

Ha, don’t fret too much about it!I think it’s prob. us & a few lurkers, but it’s prob. buried deep. Are you me? Right, usually every actor I follow is already big/famous/or not yet.But it’s always from a distance, this time, for SH, he’s such a fresh/exciting actor (Korea or not), that I’m curious where he’ll land. It happens, someone younger/hotter/etc. will pop up. As for theatre, it’s a shame that his I-fans can’t see them, but I also worry that his K-fans will only see his play b/c he’s in it, & not b/c they like theatre. I know what your feeling too, it’s great he’s got more recognition 4 his talents, but it does feel a bit of a downer when ur fav’s fandom/fame skyrockets a lot. It means less personable interactions/less of their ‘real’ selves :/

That’s why, I wonder how he’ll be career wise in his late 30s/early 40s.He’ll be 38 in 3 yrs/40 in 5.Time flies by fast, so I wonder where he’ll end up.By then, doubt his new fandom will stick to him by then (Depending on his choices).I haven’t felt the same “Yes, new stuff!” about SH for a few wks now.All these new things seem hollow, eh lol. I think it’s good to have a break from ur favs.

I guess, he was going 4 a rocker look? The ring he wears was in his Staff Insta, all the F4 crew has it.For someone who grew up poor, dude loves luxury goods! Saw a pic of his pre-fame play days, & he was wearing a Gucci backpack, & D&G jean jacket.Hope he can save up,& get a place of his own!

            @soulsearch12
I’M ALIVE! lol I actually did take a break, not only from KSH but Dramabeans also. Did I miss anything? I don’t think so, nothing confirmed yet it seems. Oh did you see the articles mentioning him with Link again? And possibly MGY as the FL? Possible reunion? If I recall correctly you aren’t fond of that paring lol. I don’t mind it (I’m kinda mad at MGY for being part of True Beauty because it’s such a waste of talent for her heh) but what are the other options? Because I want to see KSH with different leading ladies. Everyone is just dragging out confirmations and all these articles are just stirring up spectators. I have a feeling a decision will be made on KSHs side once they get closer to the end of the play.

Man, it’s so odd to think he is 35. Since he’s relatively new to the small screen I keep thinking he’s in his 20s but he’s not! Has anyone else that you know entered the industry in their 30s? Gosh, I’m sure there are some but I can’t think of any right now.

But you know with romcoms writers struggle towards the end.i hope he gets lucky and lands himself in a solid romcom. It would be bad if he had NGM’s romcom luck or lack thereof.

With his SNS, like his IG he doesn’t really post often. You see him on SNS more brause of other users that post about hin and news article of events like the tiktok one. So I do think he still manages his IG account and posts whenever he really feels motivated to do so. I think his last one was from the award he won? I can’t recall but I hope it stays like that and he doesn’t ever spam us with posts. I’m like.. oohhhh new stuff…yey….can you read my sarcastic lack of enthusiasm? I need to control myself 🤣 thanks a ton for reading my thoughts though, this is the only place where I openly discuss the rising of KSH.

@yongsital Hey! No worries, I took a break from DB too! Not really, just some casting rumors/new magazine articles. He’ll probably has chosen a project already, but isn’t going to reveal it until he finishes his play!

As for Link, he seems to have declined the role. Offering it to Lee Joon Gi after was odd, ngl. As for MGY, she’s talented/has a mature look so this role could bring her back to more adult roles again. I’m not oppose to their pairing, but would like to see someone new! One story is an extra said that the nicest actors on set was him, MGY, and PBG. And when an extra flubbed her line, he said “Don’t worry. We can do it again!” Aww. Other options, I like Park Eun Bin, Lee Se Young, and Han Ye Ri, if we’re talking about actresses who are around his age and good actresses too!

As for his career, I do feel like I over-estimated him lol. As in, a lot of the dramas he’s been in, have been light rom-coms, nothing extremely heavy/dramatic yet. I mean we had a slew of poop/fart jokes, so he’s not above it haha. He did mention that he now feels more pressure now when selecting a project, and that he now thinks is “Is the rating going to be good? Will this be successful?”

I think some of the criticism I read was SALT was marketing like a 20s age actor starting out. I did hear his TikTok thing went well! For 30s, I’ll say a lot of musical/theatre actors who built their fame later in life. Park Hae Joon, Park Hae Soo, Yoo Teo, Jeon Mi Do, Son Seok-koo, Kim Joo-hun, and a slew of others. I’ll say I notice that in Korea, we do see a lot of actors/actresses who work in bit parts before slowly rising to prominence in their mid to late 30s!

Rom-coms: There has to be another element to it other than the romance, to keep the plot from dragging. Another element like sci-fi, action, or etc. He’s done light/slight rom-coms, but not a full one yet. I think he’ll do fine, as he’s shown off those chops before, but something heavy/darker, I’ve yet to see from him yet.

I prefer that way too with his SNS. He said he prefers to post when he wants to. I think his Staff Insta is more updated lol. IA, I also like when actors I’m fan of keeps a balance/line between their SNS/personal life. Haha, I know what you mean. I think its good to have a bit of mystery sometimes. As it makes when they do post/act, that much more richer.

No problem! I’m all ears 🙂 I think its nice to also have this threads about him, whether it be his persona/acting career/future work/etc! Same here. I think its b/c he’s hot rn, so any opinion that goes against the grain gets backlash! So this is really nice to have this insightful talk w/o that freely lol :)!!

            0

@yongsital Type-casting is something that all actors go through in their career. Some actors stay in their niche and excel in them. Sometimes, it’s hard showcasing another side in case it falters. Ex. Gong Hyo Jin (Rom-com’s)/Song Hye Kyo (Romance Melodramas). That being said, objectively speaking, Kim Seon Ho debuted in Broadcast late in his career (31). He’s at an awkward/exciting stage in his career, because compared to his peers 33-38 range (Lee Seung Gi, Hyun Bin, Ju Ji Hoon, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jung Kyung-ho, Byun Yo-han, Park Seo Joon): Majority/most of them did their romance shows to gain footing/popularity in Korea before segueing into more deeper/dramatic/un-romance fare which helped w/ their versatility/offers.

What I worry/curious about is that from the offers he’s been getting that there all in the romance genre. I think b/c we haven’t seen him in a full fledged romance, that it’ll be a new/fresh experience for him and the audience. What I worry is after he does a romance drama, that he’ll continue to get those type of offers, & turn into a bland/boring product. Instead of being recognized for his talents, he becomes an actor that people use to ship him w/ other stars. Thank goodness, that they gave the offer to Shin Min Ah!!! Someone who is talented, respected established actress, similar age range, and not an idol nor a young star.

“I’m also quite cynical and fear he’ll start being offered a lot of mainstream dramas.” Same, I don’t want to seem cynical either, but realistically speaking the K-drama industry/K-entertainment industry is very fickle. K-dramas for one, newbies pop up every year. And KSH, while talented/charming hasn’t proven himself as a viable/marketable leading man yet. His projects that he was the lead of didn’t do wonders for his career, or talents in the general public. As for mainstream, it’s romance lol. I feel like his agency is so obviously trying to make him a star, and I’m like hmm about. H-wood terms, CAA, a big name agency got Zac Efron, instead of trying to forge his path into an adult star, they pushed him to be a star. Why?: B/c CAA is in the business of making Stars not Actors. And I worry that, in this case SALT is taking all the offers offered to KSH. It’s like are you trying to make him into a star or an actor? I heard that Park Shin Hye gets the offers, b/c of her name, not due to SALT. BH Entertainment/SOOP knows how to give each/every actor their own space to grow, they don’t force their actors to do all these nonsensical things. I just feel like KSH/SALT need to slow down on the PR/articles/etc, or else he’ll face a backlash like Jung Hae In did.

While I was aware of KSH prior to Start Up, I’m sure people who were fans of him when he began feel bittersweet b/c now he seems like a celebrity. I also prefer my favs to be low-key too. For him, he does 2d1n/MC’ing/Hosting/etc, & it’s obvious they want him to be a star, which I feel like would burden him.

    3
    1

So spot on in everything you said. I’m one of those fans that keeps finding it bittersweet and you were finally able to put it in words for me…he really feels like a celebrity now ahah. Not that I was ever that delusional fan that thought I “knew” him but he starts to seem unreachable now, if that makes any sense. That’s why I hope he stays humble and doesn’t get distracted by the spotlight. Rather, continues perfecting his craft. My apprehension mainly lies with SALT though. If there’s an oversaturation of KSH content, it might easily become a dangerous move on their behalf. I admit I find it welcomed content right now along with the general public but there is such a thing as too much of something you like.

Plus, like you said, having him on such a tight schedule may be stressful on him and even (eventually) affect the quality of his work. I’d hate to see him go through what Jung Hae In too. SALT, like any agency, wants to get the most profit out of their artists. From their standpoint it would be silly to pass on this opportunity they have with KSH but it may be detrimental in the long run.

Aww thanks! Back at ya too for allowing for this great discussion! Other platforms are too biased/or not prone to frank talk. It’s a new feeling to see an actor become a star live, as I watched S.U, I saw his fame rise. Prior to S.U, he had 600K followers. He does seem unreachable now too. I saw his past fan encounters, and it made me sad that now, he won’t be able to do that anymore 🙁 His fan service before S.U was amazing. Super personable. Crazy to think had he not done S.U, he would’ve just been in the same position, doing lead roles in projects that don’t gain huge traction, until being sidelined into 2nd ML’s.

Aw, don’t fret. I’m sure esp, given you knew him way before S.U, that he was like your ‘little’ secret. He’s doing all these new things, but its a bit bitter b/c it feels like he has to be more selective/mainstream w/ his choices now. Sometimes its good to be a bit mysterious with what they give/take to the public. It’s great 2d1n provides him a place to de-stress, but the bad side is he’s not as mysterious/has to give up his private persona on tv. This could be an issue 1 day, if someone’s like “I see KSH’s 2d1n persona in his role. I saw him cough like that.”Eh lol. Not everyone is a LSG,even he is composed/straight-laced in his variety.

How was he before the massive fan? When you followed his career then? Did you ever think he would be at the place he would be in now? Or just one of those actors that are talented, but were always going to be low-key for-ever?

Him going back to theatre is a good sign, to keeping him grounded. Altho I worry with more deals coming in, SALT may force him to do other stuff. As for spotlight, it does seem even he was shocked by the massive love he got from S.U. He hasn’t processed it yet, but I’m sure going from a small theatre following to a broadcast tv star was something he perhaps enjoyed? Sometimes, actors say “I don’t like fame” but secretly they do like the attention/perks that come w/ it. Even on his Staff Insta/2d1n/award shows, he wears designer/luxury goods all the time, & its like “I see the image SALT is trying to present him.”

He did say he always says “I’m learning” to not get stuck. He’s looking to debut in film. So I can tell he’s motivated/passionate about his craft. SALT has only handled 1 big name, PSH (I hear, she got the offers b/c of her name) that PSH/CSW post on here was filled w/ great agency talk! Pros: More attention/care/1st rate projects to him Cons:He’s the only big ML star/thus pushing him too much/not well equipped to handle his career turn into something tangible/not short-lived. BH/Soop/Namoo have plenty of big names/lesser ones in their roster/more connections.I even feel there’s over saturation of him,in Korea, there been slew of articles on him(his looks/variety/etc)& it’s the same o’ answers too lol.Media play is vital yes, but only when it’s necessary. Also SALT not suing/protecting their artists from threats is err esp. since he’s fairly sensitive :/

Ugh! My entire reply was deleted! Let’s see if I remember everything I said.

He’ll have to be more careful with his fan service and even his interactions with his co-stars now that all eyes are on him. I feel like he’s had to do more mainstream fan service. Is that a thing? Lol it is though! Sometimes it makes me cringe haha.

I never imagined his popularity would skyrocket as it has. If someone had asked me if I considered it possible for him to have 1 million followers on IG, I would have said “not likely.” 4+ million? Hah. It was incredibly unexpected. It was a welcome surprise when he was the lead in CTG but when he was casted as the 2L in Start Up I thought he’d go back to secondary roles, with a main lead here and there, or as part of an ensemble cast like Waikiki. I never thought he reach a Hallyu-ish type of popularity. It’s not that I don’t think he deserves it. I really really really like him and I think he deserves the moon and back. I just want him to stay the KSH I became a fan of. 😅

I’ve always considered KSH to be awkward (in an endearing way) and shy. Even now there are moments where you can tell he doesn’t know what to do with himself. I do think 2D1N has helped him gain confidence but you can tell he’s still adjusting to his new popularity.

Any actor or celebrity will welcome attention and acknowledgements so I don’t doubt KSH likes it or the perks that come with it, such as the sponsored luxury items. I just hope SALT makes wise management decisions and not ones based on the spur of the moment. I wonder if they’ll let him manage his IG from here on out. That’s his main outlet right now where he can be transparent and just be KSH. It’s concerning that SALT has a bad rep for protecting their artists. Especially, as it seems a lot of kpop type of fans have filtered into his fandom. There lies a big danger. *nervous laugh*

For now I’m on edge to see what SALT does next for him. KSH’s next work will be vital in seeing how his career proceeds. How much say does he have in his projects at this point? I know it sounds like I’m not happy with the turn his career has taken but I am! There are just a lot of more things that come into play now. Sometimes I worry his success may be shortlived and then he’ll probably beat himself up for it thinking it was because he was lacking in something. The industry is so unpredictable. I just wish him the best and hope he enjoys himself more than anything.

          1

No! Hate when that happens, ugh!

You win some, you lose some. He got more famous/CFs/offers now. So, he’s putting his name out there. We lose on 1 hand, b/c he now seems like a celebrity not an actor, so it feels like his actions now are influenced by his agency/himself to put forth an image that preserves his star image now. Yeah, he’s had to do mainstream fan service. During Waikiki 2, a fan said “Can you do a fan meeting in China?” and he said “I can’t even get one in Korea.” Oh, I cringe too. The fan culture/idolatry of celebs in Korea is next level. I feel like its try hard, while its nice, I do feel like he’ll prob. have to indulge in more fan fantasies going forward. I did LOL, when he friend-zoned his fan, by stating friend when the fan was like date me!

You followed him before Waikiki 2/CTG? His new fame must be mind boggling, who knew he would’ve rise like that? What I’m curious about is the PD of S.U chose him, and fixed shooting schedule for him to shoot on 2d1n too. Going forward, won’t this surely be an issue/conflict in his other shoots? He’s not a big name yet, yes he’s very popular rn, but not on a level where he can fix according to his schedule yet. Maybe it’s the cynical side of me, but I think what worries me is he says 2d1n gives him space to de-stress & etc, but what happens when that gets in the way of his acting career? As in, he can’t give 100% to both the variety/acting, & 1 of them wavers as a result? But then he would forgo either variety or acting, & I think that would depress him loads? I just feel like he needs to find an activity or something else that he does other than 2d1n, that gives him a similar feeling so he doesn’t feel awful in case he has to forgo one. Doesn’t he still hang out with his F4 crew? I saw a vid he did w/ them in Feb, for a get-away so surely what about those friends?

I saw a 2018 interview, dude was awkward when he’s by himself.Despite his introvert nature, in group interviews, he tries to be funny. I’ll say that his answers to now haven’t changed much. He enjoyed anonymity for 34 yrs.

I really feel like once he confirms his next project (tvN!), and we see whose in it, and it comes out & etc. That’s when we’ll likely know which direction his career could go, someone whose potential we saw in S.U ascend to that, or not? Surely, after his 1st post S.U project, his 2nd one will be the true litmus test imo. After 2021, it’ll be clearer on where SALT wants to take his career into.

His agency loves him due to the luxury wear they give him. Sometimes, I think it’s a bit tacky ngl. As for SALT, I’m weary of them tbh. Other than PSH (Who got it thru her own merits/connections), they haven’t handled another big name yet. Star vs. Actor: Stark difference. Rn, I feel like his OG plan got warped into a star. He said Song Kang Ho was his acting idol (Serious actor at 1st), he said no to variety. Then post CTG,his path changed :/I rather him become an award winning actor than a Hallyu star.

            1
            0

@hanie Let’s be honest, actors love/crave attention. He said theatre is his ecstasy. I do worry he’ll be pushed to do more mainstream fare (acting/hosting/other stuff), that’ll turn him into a commodity, & push him way from his goal which is to be a good actor. IA, he’s everywhere like SALT is pushing him A LOT!! Tbh, even I’m starting to get overwhelmed/a bit tired. Too much media play can turn people off. SALT is trying to turn him into a star imo. I personally don’t think they’re equipped to usher in his career into a new stratosphere. If he was at BH/Soop, maybe. I personally, don’t think his persona could handle being a star. I feel like he should play it cool like Gong Yoo/& the like, & do variety guesting time/time, but not give in to fan’s expectations too. He’s not an idol/nor flower boy/ahjussi either, he’s at an age where his other peers have moved on up to films/other genres where romance isn’t the main factor. Ex. Ju Ji Hoon did Goong, but did Lucifer after, of course excluding his scandal. He’s an ex. of one who could’ve been type-casted after Goong, but now, he’s a respected/top star who excels in both film/tv.

I know how much 2d1n mean to him, but cynically speaking, for S.U(the PD fixed around his schedule for the show).Going forward, this is going to create conflict/issues b/c he’s the ML now, & others will have to work around his schedule.Which in turn, given the strenuous 2d1n Schedule/dramas, he won’t be at his 100% for both.He needs to find an avenue where he can de-stress that isn’t too taxing on his body, & free of schedule conflicts.

He has to choose well. But he’s also not a bankable star yet, ratings wise. Compared to Kang Ha Neul, I feel like SALT is pushing him to be an entertainer. For KHN, I can tell he’s serious about acting (he deleted SNS/allows time to do a role/films). For KSH, I feel like b/c he doesn’t have an avenue to de-stress, he jumps full dive into dramas. After Waikiki 2 completed, he did CTG 1 month after :O I just feel like that’s not a good way to give full credence to the role, like Kim Dong Wook said he’ll never do a play/drama same time b/c he felt bad for the audience for not giving his all to both.

Indeed. He won’t be 2nd ML anymore, but compared to his peers, he’s just begun his leading man career (I know he was ML’s before, but those didn’t pop his career further/moved it) until now. His past projects were thru referrals from actors/PDs. Had he been in a respected agency, he would’ve gotten more bigger deals. His past agency made him join SALT (It wasn’t until Waikiki 2 where he was officially under their management), b/c they wanted him to go higher in his career and explore other avenues (entertainment).

Many of us are now excited/nervous for KSH as 1 wrong move,it’s back to the start. His new fame/SNS, do worry me that he’ll become a celebrity & not a real actor.I can already see it happening. His new fans talk/treat about him as if he’s a Kpop idol, which worries me a lot.

I read the other replies and just wanted to add my 2 cents about 2D1N.

It seemed difficult for KSH to do both 2D1N and SU. There were at least two trips in 2D1N where in the opening, he was asked if he was ok because he looked tired. From a variety standpoint, it adds to the entertainment, but this was without the pressure of holding up a drama, which he might be expected to do in the future. Maybe he’ll get better at it and learn to handle it, just like how he got better at variety.

2D1N has given all the members a family, and they supported KSH before, throughout, and after SU. But it’s a variety show, and each member has their individual careers. Like it was mentioned before, not everyone is LSG, or Kim Jong Min (from a variety standpoint). The reality is that there’s going to be changes at some point because Ravi will need to enlist for military service. Maybe it will be a chance for some members to leave, or maybe they will decide to continue. We will just need to wait and see.

    2
    1

Omg, thank you so much for your perspective! It adds some new dimension on 2d1n!

I’m grateful to have a space to have a frank/honest discussion about an actor!! I’m a bit disturbed ngl, that there are times/comments I’ve seen where he’s being pushed to his max. Ex.That pool scene seemed awful. He looked like death. It’s worrisome to me that he keeps on stating that he’s grateful to the show/members/and etc. Like at the end of the day, I worry is if he does have to leave 2d1n, is he has to find another avenue where he can de-stress/other than acting. Maybe do yoga lol?

It’s great that he has his own lil ‘family’, but on another hand, it’s a tough choice he’ll have to make in the future. When he did Waikiki 2/CTG, it was before he did any variety. For Start Up, the PD accommodated his shooting schedule to match with the 2d1n one. Going forward, I don’t think other PD’s will be as accommodating esp. if he’s the Main Lead. I feel like I’m being cynical about this, but realistically speaking, SALT is going to want him to be bigger than he is now. I don’t think even if KSH just wants to do 2d1n/plays, that SALT will be ok w/ that. He has to choose, is it 2d1n or acting? (Which sucks b/c I can tell he really found a home there), but eventually it’ll be strange if an actor is getting amazing deals/roles to turn it down for a variety show. Even PDs/channels could possibly black-list/might break off a relationship b/c he’s not at the power/name brand/level to turn down projects yet.

Start Up, I noticed in the 2nd half, his scenes diminished. Now if he’s the Main Lead in a 16-20 episode drama, he’ll have to be on-screen 90-95% of the time. More weight/burden/expectations are going to be placed on him to succeed/lead the cast/crew as well. And then add variety to that, which is more personal than others, and he’ll most likely have a nervous breakdown from trying to give 100% to both avenues.

He can try, but it’s a tricky scenario. Other than Lee Kwang Soo/Lee Seung Gi(More so LSG, since he always get ML’s), it’s rare to do both variety/acting long-term esp. for someone like KSH whose a hot star rn. Someone who w/ the right project can become a big name. If he doesn’t strike when the iron’s hot, he’ll lose the chance to do so. I know he said he doesn’t care for fame, but SALT won’t let an opportunity go. He can always do short variety shows, if he’s missing that type of de-stresser in the future.

LSG is an anomaly, I notice in his variety show, he’s calm/straight-laced. Dude knows the game. It’s not KSH, whose more vulnerable about showing his insecurities. Don’t think KSH has LSG’s mentality in regards to juggling both. It’s not like they won’t be close if they aren’t in the show. Life happens,& something personal could happen.

Actors being on Variety shows as full time members is something that still boggles my mind. Coming from a Western pov,I feel like stars ought to not reveal too much so it doesn’t interfere w/ their acting onscreen.

      2
      2

I’m sure KSH an SALT knew what they were getting into with 2D1N. It’s a beloved show that’s been on for over a decade. Season 4 was a chance for KBS to redeem itself after the mess that ended season 3, so KBS was really picky about casting. KBS saw something in him that they really wanted, but it was also a risk because the reputation of 2D1N had to be built back. Thankfully it has all worked out, for KBS and the cast and crew.

Actors really only get the public’s attention for the 2 months a drama airs. In variety, they are on screen weekly, and can become household names. It can also make it easier to land advertisements and endorsement deals because they show different sides to their personality. Actors can’t accept every role they are offered even if they wanted to. The best way to add screen time and income is through a continuing show (as a member or MC) and advertisements.

It’s going to be interesting to see where it all leads for KSH. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I do see him becoming a well-rounded entertainer. He’s proved that he’s capable, so I think he can do it if he wants to.

        1
        1

Hi! On 2d1n, from what I read, he & SALT discussed it tons. He was 1st hesitant about joining, but after careful deliberation decided to give it a go. He just wrapped CTG in Oct 23, and filmed 2d1n on beginning of Nov. In a way, 2d1n grabbed him before he blew up.

Interesting. That’s another interesting perspective on variety. I read bits here/there, that actors shouldn’t show too much of themselves on variety, but not too little either. Jo In Sung said that. Altho for an actor, esp. one gaining more fame/offers like a KSH is an interesting case. A) Does he stay on? But for how long? B) He already has established his name as a rising star, so he doesn’t need to do variety full time anymore. C) If his next two works do well, he’s one step away from a Hallyu or career changing role. D) Again, too early to tell. I guess I’m just curious that he went from someone who seemed serious (he said Song Kang Ho was his acting idol)/saying no to doing variety as he wanted to act for a long time. To now, where he’s a variety star. It’s such an interesting career/thought change in just 1-2 yrs time.

As a fan, I just hope that he does what’s best for him, not out of loyalty or whatever to someone/something. Sometimes, when you know it’s time, you know. Of course, his career changing paths from being a serious actor to an entertainer fascinates me lol. I seen his interviews before 2d1n, and he was gawky/shy/awkward. Granted he was 1-2 yrs in his broadcast media debut too. So much changes happened to his life in a short amount of time. There are loads of actors who’ve so much talent/charm, but haven’t blown up/missed their boat.

On KSH’s path: It does seem that he’ll only do 2d1n if the OG members are still on. So who knows what’ll happen in 1-2 yrs? It doesn’t seem like outside of that avenue, he’ll do other variety shows. Again, he’s tried out lots of new things recently. I guess a part of me is in disbelief/awe that he acted for 8 yrs w/o much fanfare (global scale), and just doing that/content w/ that. And in 2 yrs of his tv debut, debuted on a variety show, and got a career breakthrough. His luck/timing has been so fast.

All in all, very curious if he’ll venture out to other forms of media in the future. And what his path will look like. I just hope that all those things don’t get inside his head, and he steers clear of any controversies/scandals going forward. Celebrity/star path or private/serious actor path is where I’m most curious about KSH leaning towards in the future!

For starters…not all variety shows are filmed weekly. Shows like 1n2ds are usually filmed biweekly. I say if he enjoys being in the show, let him be. Regardless of why he joined, the show did catapult his name to be known in k-ent. I don’t believe in an actor should keep a certain image just because they are actors and don’t want to break drama viewers immersion. When they are acting, they are acting, their acting skills will help viewers immerse in their acting role. Limiting actors not to be in variety just because of their acting image is quite sad.

Ah thanks for adding a different perspective! I also heard about the bi-weekly thing too. So it’s like minus holidays and such, 20-24 times they meet up. Which is prob. more than what others meet up.

I think what me and @silkwave are getting at, is KSH is still fresh in the drama industry. Other than one show he led before doing variety/more expectations, if he will be able to deal with the pressures of leading a show after S.U. Also, how worried we were to hear reports of him passing out/looking like ‘death’ on the show. As in, he’s seems exhausted, so as causal audience, it’s funny. But it’s also a bit nerve wrecking b/c KSH is a sensitive guy (As in he worries a lot/is hard on himself). So I hope whatever decision he makes, puts his health first.

As for image/actors, I guess I’m in a Western p.o.v, where I feel like the balance between public/private life should be there. Again, I notice this is a thing in Korea with variety shows/having a separate place for that. Perhaps, its something I’m not used to yet seeing actors being full time members. Usually, they end up leaving b/c they want to focus more on their passion which is acting. Lee Sang Yoon also left for that reason too. So it does seem like a tough decision, & most actors that still are hot rn/get ML’s end up making that decision in the end.

In regards to KSH, he did say he’s still finding his way into doing both variety/acting, and getting people to see the actor side/variety side as two separate things.

Shows like 1n2ds doesn’t really show a celebrity private life. They just get together and have fun, viewers are not privy to their private life details much unlike shows that really shows celeb private life and have cameras installed all over the house like Same Bed, Different Dreams or I Live Alone or Return of Superman. But then again, even these shows are not filmed continuously and some are scripted.

I watched 1n2ds since S1, I did watch s4 a bit when it came out. From my observation from seeing several upcoming actors appear on the show throughout the years…Kim Sun Ho is doing fine. He’s way more comfortable than Joowon. I think Joowon was one of the younger cast who really struggled as a variety show fixed cast. Yoon Shi Yoon kinda struggled in the start because he joined mid-season3, right after he was released from military service but he eventually blended so well with the other members. I liked s3, it’s sad what happened to it tarnished the whole season. The cast of s4 are doing so well. They were awkward in the start but since all of them are new, they were on the same page and they built their relationship over time. All in all, I think you don’t need to worry much about Kim Sun Ho choosing to stay in a variety show. He will depart from the show when the time comes. And yes to your last sentence, acting and variety are two different things. Maybe it’s just me but after seeing actors/actresses in behind the scene clips or goof around in variety shows, I appreciate their acting skills more. Hahaha

@katakwasabi This is great information btw! Really appreciate this! I’ve to admit, accepting and viewing actors in relation to their variety persons is a hurdle I’ve to eventually get over.

Even if they don’t show their private life on 2d1n, one has to give pieces of their public persona on the show. KSH said that he can’t reveal all his sides on 2d1n. Yeah, another dirty secret is some of these are scripted to get reactions from the members. It’s never 100% accurate to the people’s personas imo. You get shades/inklings of it, but of course, for actors, they do pull a bit back. I remember reading some comments that KSH was reluctant for some things to not forgo his actor persona.

I find that so interesting that KSH who only debuted on TV in 2017, was more open/less hesitant to show more of himself than Joo Won ever did. Personally speaking, JW is boring personality wise. Reading his interviews, he never cared for the show that much, it seemed like he was almost doing a favor. JW left the show w/o even telling the members he was leaving LOL. That’s how little the show meant to him, & he always was hesitant/reluctant to reveal himself, it seems? Dunno if Lee Seung Gi was the same too before he blew up?

As for KSH and variety, he’ll eventually have to depart. But I guess the bigger ? is, is he aiming to be an entertainer or actor or both? Or just doing new things/testing himself?

Yeah, totally get what you mean by seeing an actor’s persona on a variety show. Sometimes, it’s jarring but for the most part, I do think that on variety shows, actors have to play up the jokes/craziness. On one hand, I’m one of those people that might randomly think of their variety appearances even if its a serious/crying scene Oops! It happened w/ S.U, he was crying/really sad, and 2d1n popped up in my head lol. I was like, time to take a break from it. Again, still getting used to actors being full time members on variety shows.

Anyways, that remains to be seen! I’m just in disbelief that someone who was very introverted/shy due to his past is doing all these things that seem incongruous to that! :O I just hope he challenges himself as an actor, & becomes a respected award winning actor lol!

@soulsearch12 When Joowon entered 1n2ds he was a rookie. His first tv drama was in mid 2010, he joined 1n2ds in early 2012. His 1st drama was megahit Baker King in 2010, followed by very popular weekender ojakgyo family and he did big hit Gaksital during 1n2ds.

            >Personally speaking, JW is boring personality wise. Reading his interviews, he never cared for the show that much, it seemed like he was almost doing a favor. This is wrong. He did tell the cast he was leaving. It was aired on the show. Some are just not suitable for variety shows. But the whole team chemistry need to be taken into consideration. S2 was fun but it had super high expectations after S1 ended, because believe it or not S1 is still considered the superior season by some fans until this day. Comparing all seasons, I feel S2 had the least chemistry but thats mostly because S2 was too short. 2 or 3 members from S2 returned for S3. S3 was truckloads of fun. The expectations on them were less because s2 was not that popular but S3 revived 1n2ds until it got dragged and ended abruptly. I’m happy it got a new s4 after what happened. 1n2ds was my go to show for years. Though now I have moved on to other variety shows, I had fun when I watched it.

That’s true! I always forget he debuted in 2010, and got big soon after! It does seem JW is more on the shyer side, and wasn’t suited for variety. Judging by little to no variety he does now, I can see that it’s not for him, and that’s fine!

Thanks for clearing it up! I read a few articles that stated that! Good to hear he did tell them he was leaving.

I did hear that about S2 being the least well received b/c of the cast chemistry wasn’t as strong as S1’s. “The expectations on them were less because s2 was not that popular but S3 revived 1n2ds until it got dragged and ended abruptly.” That’s also true about the less expectations there are, the less pressure on the new members. It’s a miracle the S4 happened after S3’s fiasco.

Aww, that’s nice to hear! Sometimes you know when it’s time to move on. Well at least your beloved Shin Sung Rok is on Master in the House, double the SSR for you lol 🙂 !

A show that would make for a fabulous Korean Drama re-make would be Pushing Daisies. How come no one has thought about touching upon it? Perhaps, it is too flawless? Ah! One can dream right?

Oh haha! We have this conversation all the time, it would be an AMAZING kdrama and I can’t believe it never got adapted. We even brainstormed the casting once.

    Junho was the Pie Maker
    Jung Ryeo-won was Chuck
    Kim Seul-gi was Olive
The Aunts are Oh Na-ra and ???

We could make SSR Emerson Cod and make him a Singing Detective. Or make up a brand new singing role just for him.

Oh wow! I think I remember seeing you make a comment about Pushing Daisies a while back!

That’s a great cast! The Aunts: Kim Jung Nan and Oh Na Ra? SSR as Emerson Cod is a solid choice!! I would also say Kang Ha Neul too.

Why can’t K-drama writers/PDs adapt Pushing Daisies instead? Lol, it’s a wonderful/delightful show that would make for wholesome/colorful tv!! Think of the cinematography!!

@soulsearch12 I loved Pushing Daisies! I was sad when it was canceled after the second season. That would definitely make for an interesting Korean remake.

Yeah, it was upsetting. So many great shows around that era 🙁 But it did wrap up as much as it could. Esp. with Covid now, its like the perfect time lol! In fact, so many of Bryan Fueller’s shows could be remade into K-dramas tbh. Ah, that seran wrap kiss is the end of me 🙂

Pushing Daisies was the one show where I enjoyed every single character. There wasn’t one moment when I was like, “I don’t want to see him/her.” All of the characters were terrific.

The ending was fitting. Super sweet and heartwarming. I sometimes think the 1 hr 10 min+ format in K-dramas, means boring/useless filler plot/characters. Of course, it takes a very skilled writer to make it work. Why is it so hard to make a solid K-drama rom-com, that’s not trope filled or boring?! Pushing Daisies FTW!!

What in the world?! I leveled up to The Goblin’s Underpants?? Wonder if it has a bit to do with me singing the praises of Hottie Daddy Min-hyuk lately in Alice. 😉 Lol, but seriously though! 😀

One random ?, but why is the bottom photo on Drama-beans the cast of Athena: Goddess of War? I mean nice eye candy lol, but I’m confused. Is there more to say, or were the original founders big fans?

I’m finally watching Reply 1988. I’m enjoying the naturalistic & realistic vibe of the show. I am a bit iffy on the fighting/tugging of the hair. Other than that, I really enjoy this! All star cast!

I love how every picture I see of these together, they are always holding hands.
Kang Ha Neul and Gong Hyo Jin were such a great pairing together.
Hope to see them reunite for a project in the future

I\’m currently watching The Secret Life of My Secretary & it reminds me Oh My Venus. They both have themes that are serious, and romances which are \’fluffy\’ & sweet. I did wish I saw this when it aired.
