This did not take very long. It was expected:

Victory Contents, the company that produced River Where The Moon Rises, has sued Ji Soo and KeyEast for ₩3 billion KRW ($2,661,771 USD) in damages following his bullying scandal.

According to Victory Contents’ press release, they have filed a compensation suit to the Seoul Central District Court against KeyEast to claim damages following Ji Soo’s bullying scandal. Ji Soo began filming the drama as a the male lead, but dropped out in early March following his scandal. At the time of him dropping out, nearly 90% of the drama was already filmed, which meant nearly the entire drama was re-filmed with Na In Woo after Ji Soo was replaced.

According to Dispatch, the production company claims it has suffered direct damages from staff costs, location, equipment fees, appearance fees, art fees, etc. due to re-shooting, and other serious damages that can affect the future, such as poor ratings, overseas customer claims, expected sales, and company image damage.

It will all come down to what morals clause, if any, was in the actor's contract to base a damage claim.

April - I was expecting 3000k+ ohh

Stock Market - Week went pretty smooth and quite good.
House - 2018-2019 I talked about buying 1 VIP area but prices are going up and up and that for already built ones.
I've plans to build a house where the 1st and last master is me and i want have my own ideas in the architecture of it as well as my own hardwork to claim every inch of it as my art.
In 2018-2019 it was costing 1.5m$ and now i'm sure price is above 2m$ and then all material costs have gone up too.
3 million dollars + interior and furniture is just too much.
The same amount can be easily invested in Ch,Ko or even Japan's real estate for good returns.
Quality living surely is costly.

Someone had a comment about women having it bad and there i had shared the view that W's define the life of most of humans. More appropriate word to use is Females. The word women leave out too many of the same gender.
If sexual assault, sexual violence, cat calling, eve teasing etc. is a criteria then loads of nations and societies act innocent and cherry pick few others to feel better. Korea and Japan look too good, isn't it? But you just have to wipe the makeup off and you can see the reality. There is noting out of ordinary happening anywhere - Its all cumulative.
Its just human habit to ignore inconvenient and bitter truths.

I am watching Sysyphus ep 14, I don't know if time travelling dramas are not my thing. Nothing makes sense to me no more. I don't know what are the rules of this universe. I am just continuing just to see how this ends. Does PSH match with older actors? Whenever she acts with an older actor I don't feel the chemistry. She matches well with dudes around her age to me. I get though that she wants to grow and challenge herself.

Same here. I gave up trying to make sense out of it. The time lines are so confusing. I’m not even talking about the logic. I just want to finish it because my husband is watching with me.

There are two dramas that started with big goals and I am watching now just half-heartedly and at 1.5 speed just to see where they are going (from bad to worst, in my opinion).
One is Sisyphus, which I will always remember as the drama that taught us that a gas mask protects us from damage after a nuclear explosion and a kerchief from a bad sandstorm (that said it all, I rest my case about it).
The other one is Mouse which forced me to give my brain a pause from the beginning, but not with all that SF brain surgeries and stuff makes my brain cells want to go to take a hot bath to relax even more. I wonder, what was the intended genre of this drama, because now it's all over the place.
As a disclaimer, I love SF films/ books/ series, but even in SF, I want logic and reason, not just concepts thrown at me just because. I want a world that makes sense and that has clear laws that abides. These two dramas - I think - bit more than they can actually chew.

On a mainstream entertainment site I usually post occasional shout-outs to K-dramas which the site ignores. But this time around there just wasn't anything to cheer for, unless I include the caveat "You'll hate the ending."

The way Mark Cao sees Yang Mi with his sparkling eyes look the way Hyun Bin sees Son Yejin.
They have the ability to make romance believeable. I call it eyes acting. Ha ha ha I dont care about body gestures or some cheesy love lines, but the eyes that sell the romance.

Hello all:

Not much happening...but Spring is peeking/peaking. Trying to finish editing and proofing my latest novel and will attempt to write a narrative speculative fiction poetry. Will see how i manage to do that.

Dramas:
Hello, Me: This is so going to become one of my favorite dramas. Noona romance, office dramas, believable treacherous family and friends, humor, melancholy, good plot, good moral and inspiration, great OST, great acting. What's not to like?

Navillera: Sweet. Please do not eand with death of ahjusshi, please!

Be My Dream Family: My first daily in ages. Five episodes but i am loving it so far. It just started so you have a chance to jump in without feeling overwhelmed. IT feels slice of life-ish and has no mega-makjang.

Times: What the heck??? It suddenly ended. Something feels cut out. Overall it was good but i can't drop the feeling that it was quickly wound up. Maybe they made the episodes longer so they could have less. Just odd to me.

cdramas:
Starting Rational Life, The Long Ballad, The way of the husbandman, Good every day, Duolou continent.

Have a great weekend, all. -C

Weirdly, some part of me doesn't want heroine's father to be saved from the accident. It would be good to set matters happily right but i feel that this writer wouldn't do something as trite as that. And i don't know how the current world will change if the past is changed. Will see. I guess the last episode will show us the changes.

Thank you to the beanies who offered some animated movies recommendations last week. I have watched both A Whisker Away and The Boy and the Beast.

Although A Whisker Away was not my cup of tea, the animation style was great.

I fully enjoyed The Boy and the Beast. It had been on my to-watch list for years and I am glad I finally had the incentive to sit down and watch it. Thank you!

I also watched a Ghibli film that I had never seen before Only Yesterday. It was a sweet film, but I felt there was something missing. Despite having a similar theme, it did not give me the same feeling of comfort and nostalgic desire to move to the countryside and plant potatoes as the Korean adaptation of Little Forest did.

I also re-watched the Taiwanese film Our Times with my mom who had never seen it. Although cliché and somewhat predictable, Our Times is still a little gem. My mother thought the movie childish at first but, in the end, she was fully invested in the story. SPOILER ALERT I had a good laugh watching her curse the casting director for not using the same actors to play the adult versions hahahaha "I'm going to write to them in Taïwan!" was what she declared.

I'm thinking of watching the 1999 Chinese movie The Road Home next. Has anyone seen it?

I did watch many Gibhli films but didnt finish Only Yesterday either. It just didn’t make me feel good like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Arriety, When Marnie Was Here and some others did. I really liked Arrietty, but Spirited And Howl’s are the ones I revisited most often.

I loved The Boy and the Beast too! It was a warm story.

I agree with your Mum for Our Times, for me it's like the movie didn't have a real end. I really don't understand why they didn't use the same actors, it doesn't make sense.

I also agree with my mom. It is definitely the movie's biggest flaw (but it doesn't ruin it thankfully).

I think the actor change is worst for people who are unfamiliar with Taiwanese celebrities. Unlike Andy Lau's cameo which is perfectly set up throughout the story, Jerry Yan and Joe Chen's cameos seem more to have been included in an attempt to have the movie produced or marketed... it doesn't make sense otherwise since they could have easily "aged up" the younger actors.

The Road Home is a beautiful movie. I watched it when it came out on VHS, so I saw it long ago. It's a very sweet movie. The actress Zhang Zi Yi was very young when she did that movie. She was also in another one that I loved called Not One Less.

There are so many Chinese films from that era that I could go on. But for sure watch that film.
And let me know if you want other recommendations.

I watched The Road Home this morning and it was a sweet and simple love story. The story itself didn't captivate me but the beautiful cinematography did. The colours were so warm and vibrant. I feel like nowadays films don't have such warm colours. I don't know if it is the result of shooting digital as oppose to film or if it is because of today's trend of using colder and even colour filters/schemes.

I noticed that The Road Home and Not One Less have the same director, Zhang Yi Mou. I think I am becoming a fan of his works so I'll have to check out Not One Less soon. Coincidently, I re-watched another film from this director last week Hero, which has an even more impressive cinematography.

I would definitely love some more recommendations. Thank you for offering!

Oh I'm glad you liked The Road Home. Yes it was sweet, but Not One Less is even better. She plays a young girl who has the job to fill in as a teacher in a rural area. Her ONE job is to make sure all the students stay in class. Of course one boy goes missing and into the big city to find work. The story of her going to find him is really marvelous. You will like it. It is quite the statement about the school system in China at that time.
Another one that I LOVED is Shower about a man who comes home from the big city to help his dad run a bath house. It is a bittersweet story of repairing his relationship with his father along with his mentally disabled brother. And of course has a great cast of regulars at the bath house. LOVED it!
Red Firecracker, Green Firecracker is another good one as well as The King of Masks.
I watched all of these in the 90's and loved them all. But mostly I loved Shower.
Let me know if you find them to watch, and what you think.
I watched Hero and remember the cinematography was incredible.
Anything by Zhang Yi Mou is good in my opinion.
Have fun!

Hi beanies. It has been a weird day for me, a mix of little joys and bad news. India seems to be having a resurgence in Covid cases and my uncle has tested positive. He has been admitted to the hospital as he opted out of home isolation so as to keep his family safe. He seems to okay and only has a slight fever and a sore throat. We also lost a family friend to renal complications. She was the mother of one of my dad's closest friends and a very well-mannered and sweet lady. I remember going to their house as a kid and sitting with her in front of their tv and talking to her. I hadn't seen her for years and I don't really know what to feel.
On the drama front, things are going super slow. Exams are in a week so all my dramas are paused. The only drama I am following ardently is Oh My Master. I must say it is my first Lee Min Ki drama and I get why people love him. He acts with just the right emotions. I love Han Bi Soo's character. He isn't rude, just gruffy. Also Nana is amazing. She really seems to shine in romcoms ( I loveee her laugh. It's adorable).
Also the leads in You Are My Hero are amazing. They have such a natural chemistry. The one thing I find hilarious is that the makers keep driving home the point that our male lead is special police. They show us his capabilities, his prowess and then give him the most macho vehicle they could find. I just start laughing wen he drives around in that jeep of his. We get it you guys. Anyway, have a happy weekend beanies

It’s our family tradition to dye eggs today. It is shockingly cold April1 , I should know better than to expect warmer days just yet. Still...
feeling behind on dramas, but next week I’ll catch up. I have a crazy, rather illogical habit of doing my taxes the last Saturday before April15 and it makes me crabby to have to deal with it. What else? I also have a Family member with covid this week, and others in the household so far are ok (I don’t live there). I think vaccines open up this week to the general public. I read that so far 17% of the US population are fully vaccinated. Aren’t we all looking forward to better days — holding on together the best we can beanies. Fighting\ /

I love My Lovely Sam Soon so much. I think it will have a permanent place in my list of favorite drama series in any language. I'll stop now before I write a dissertation-level comment about it, lol.

I recently watched Dalja's Spring and really enjoyed it. It's from 2007, I think, so not quite as old as what you're looking for. But it feels like the same era as MLSS, and like that show, it subverts a lot of common tropes in a really entertaining way.

Dalja! Dalja! Dalja! It feels dated in a lot of ways, but in a fun way, and it's surprisingly timely in other ways. I watched it about 4 years ago.

Also, it's one of the rare dramas of that era with a sweet male lead. Still plenty of fun bickering, but in a good-natured way. I just loved Chae Rim and Lee Min-ki together, although the show spent too much time on the second lead who had no chance. Dalja came to her senses after a while, though. Spare tire!

Happy weekend Beanies and keep Beaning On!

I passed my first internship evaluation yesterday!🥳🎉There is still a lot to learn, but my boss took into account how difficult it has been and continues to be to learn everything literally all by myself. She even noticed how much it increased my insecurity.😳

A few days before the evaluation, the boss of our boss joined our monthly team meeting and complimented us for our hard work getting ahead of schedule…and listed all the task teams that need extra helping hands.🙄One of the short-staffed task teams of course happens to work on the kind of cases that I am learning about in my current formation, so naturally I immediately was signed up for it to represent my team. Another so called short-staffed team are the call center workers. The colleague who taught me last week is more than capable to manage by himself, but bigger boss insists on a backup at all times, and again I get to do the honors.😬

I do not blame my colleagues for not volunteering, because I also am stressed and exhausted and in need of some calm right before D-month May. I dislike not having a say in the matter, but by sparing my colleagues from those tasks I am doing them and our work load a great service. I am also part of the first group of new employees who are being trained to be able to do everything within our division, which is fair in the long-term. My insecurity certainly never would have let me volunteer otherwise.🤔

April, May and summer in short will be nothing but call center duty, difficult cases and finishing the formation and exam concerning those difficult cases. I acknowledge these great opportunities and they are a necessary evil to learn and practice, but I have never felt so relieved while taking off my headset as I did when I finished work today.😴

Hello! Happy Friday! Happy Easter to those who observe it!

The weather here has finally hit sunny and not-too-cold, which is my favorite kind of weather. I've been too busy at work to really enjoy it, but I'm hoping this weekend will change that.

On the drama end of things, I'm watching (and loving) Reply 1988. Just everything about it so far is near-perfect, and I can't believe I put it off for this long.

I also watched Boys over Flowers, and I cannot even describe just how much I utterly hated the entire series. I had heard such effusive praise of it from others that it felt like must-see TV and now I hate myself for wasting time on it. Ugh.

I am unsure whether I disliked the story or its execution. For example, I disliked Playful Kiss but I eventually watched the Japanese, Thai and Taiwanese adaptations and really liked them.

Defending an openly sexist series by randomly throwing up the phrase 'sexist' in its defense. Whats sexist about observing that 14 year old girl and 14 year old boys like different stupid stuff?

I feel like sometime I’m going to have to watch Boys Over Flowers just for completionist reasons as it’s so well known but the prospect does not excite me.
