Drama viewership ratings for the week of June 14-20, 2021

Ah! So many new shows! We’ve got five additions to the chart, all across the week. Up first, we had youth drama At a Distance, Spring Is Green premiere to 2.6 percent. Next, we had Monthly Magazine Home and Hospital Playlist 2. It was Hospital Playlist that really made a splash, setting a new record for the highest premiere rating in tvN history. Can’t say I’m surprised there!

In the second half of the week, we also had the premieres of thriller Voice 4 and romance Nevertheless. Voice had pretty strong numbers, and Nevertheless didn’t do too bad either. Of course, the other weekend shows are still doin’ their thing, Penthouse and Mine being the most noteworthy. I’ll be waiting to see if Mine can top its own ratings with its finale next week.

I don't understand why this drama is completely ignored: no ratings, it is not on the currently airing drama list, no recaps ...

Many people have asked the same question. I will be kind and posit that Dramabeans employees have been very busy with the new "trending" paradigm work.
Two very hugely hyped sageuks were disappointments so perhaps the decision to ignore (or the lack of people to cover) a strange out-of-left-field sage about widows was back burnered. Apparently this is not the first time a stellar drama never appeared on DB. We're all only human here. The Bossam hangout is a pain to load but @wishfultoki has established a blog dedicated to this drama. Come join the obsession. Now I must go check if there are 10 more lines of dialogue - bless all VIKI subbers.

Marriage Lyrics, Divorce Music on TV Chosun is also being ignored. There seems to be prejudice here at Dramabeans against cable networks outside TVN, OCN and JTBC, and I never understood why. Maybe it is because Javabeans and Girlfriday got replaced by administrators who I never felt were passionate about Korean dramas.

@dakchigo Not to be *that girl* but I have to beg to differ here. As someone who pours a lot of time and heart into this site, I can tell you truly how much everyone cares about it (and how much they love dramas). There ain't an administrator among us.

Bossam is such a great drama!
I know it had Drama Hangout twice but I'm disappointed about no we-cap or open thread.
And I'm still sad about Taxi Driver was completely ignored also.
Yes, it showed up in the Drama viewership rating list since it was SBS, but nothing else... None!
Ratings were over 15% and ML was Lee Je-hoon.
I don't understand why these two popular dramas are ignored...
Anyway, I'm sure Bossam will be nominated for Best drama at Baeksang next year!

I brought this up a few weeks ago. I think the reason might be the network Bossam is on (MBN)? I do hope Bosasm will not only get nominated, but also win some awards.
To be fair, there are so many shows in Korea and it's impossible to include every single one of them to recap, review, etc.

Yeah I know MBN dramas are not included in the rating list and honestly I don't care about that, and I understand a lot of dramas don't have recaps or open thread.
But Bossam is not only a popular show, it's a great one... Just makes me wonder why.

And yes yes about the awards!
I'm sure Jung Il-woo will get nominated (at least) and hope Kim Tae-Woo will get nominated and win something.. He is amazing as Gwanghaegun.

Taxi Driver had a review.

The fact of the matter is even when dramas are recapped, weecapped, or reviewed, the majority of them have few comments. Bossam is an exception, but gone are the days when shows get over 300 comments.

It did? I guess I missed it then!

I totally understand why a lot of people want to talk about Bossam. It is a traditional sageuk, yet it has modern, refreshing vibes. Only four episodes left to go...😭

I think shows are getting less comments for several reasons. For me, it's a big incentive to comment when recaps are fast. I know recapping is hard work and staff are busy trying out new things, but timely (and fun) recaps are the backbone of DB. If they are several days late then the urge to comment passes or I post on the fanwall instead.

Dramabeans now is very different from the way it used to be before. Now it seems like they're just catering to their faves or the trendy ones even if those aren't half as good as some of the others they choose not to recap or just do a single ep recap. I miss the time when jb and gf were here ngl.

I'm still slugging through Dark Hole. I plan to finish it this week. I tried to watch My roommate is a gumiho but the bad acting between the leads made me stop. I guess Jang ki Yong only fits dark villain roles. He was so good in my Mister. What happened to that guy? But then I've only seen him in that show. And hyeri is just awkward 😐. I also tried to watch Doom but that one was also a mess.

There're no dramas atm that make me feel excited to watch every week. It's basically a draught for me. I'm just waiting for Jirisan and that one feels so far away.

@sailorjumun Isn't Voice 4 with tvN now? I know the original series (Voice 1 to 3 was with OCN) but I think I read somewhere that the new one had switched to a different cable network. I just confirmed it again on both AsianWiki and MyDramaList?

Yes, it did switch to tvN from OCN for season 4. I guess they figured it would draw bigger numbers on tvN, which is usually the case. tvN & OCN have the same parent company (CJ ENM).
