Premiere Watch: Forecasting Love and Weather, Twenty Five Twenty One

Finallllllly! Our new dramas are starting to roll in, and just in time, because you could hear a pin drop in dramaland. The premieres this weekend both come with quite a bit of buzz — one a retro drama that screams “I will be a hit!” and the other our rom-com queen’s return to the small screen. I have no doubt she will continue her reign.

Forecasting Love and Weather

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: JTBC
Genre: Drama, romance, workplace
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Park Min-young makes her return to dramaland, the office romance genre, and our hearts — and this time she’s paired with the ubiquitous Song Kang. I will not try to hide my skepticism over this pairing, but also, if anyone can make me forget my Song Kang fatigue (along with the butterfly phobia), it’s Park Min-young. The drama takes place at Korea’s Meteorological Administration, so it’s full of weather patterns and people taking the forecast quite seriously. I’m sure they’ll have fun with that. Also here are Yoon Park (yay!) and Yura — they create the other lines in our romance quadrangle, and they’re sure to keep things interesting at the office.

Twenty Five Twenty One

Time slot: Saturday-Sunday
Broadcaster: tvN
Genre: Youth, drama, romance
Episode count: 16

Reasons to watch: Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk team up in Twenty Five Twenty One, and we follow these two when they first meet in their youth during the IMF Crisis, and then later when they are — whomp — 25 and 21 years of age. The more I see of this drama (thanks to the steady release of promos), the more excited I get. It’s become elevated in my brain to Answer Me + Start-Up + Our Beloved Summer level of script writing and storytelling so yeah, that’s a pretty high bar I’ve just set. Hope I didn’t jinx it. But, with Kim Tae-ri’s acclaim, and a Nam Joo-hyuk who’s captured my heart since his stint in The School Nurse Files, I’m ready to be wowed.

I'm just happy to see a drama reminiscent of the Reply series! And with a good cast too! I'll be trying both of these dramas.

Both of your adopted sons will be appearing almost simultaneously on Netflix. You must be proud.
I plan on watching both dramas. Song Kang in LOVE AND WEATHER and Ahn Hyo-seop in A BUSINESS PROPOSAL.

Yep. I’m a Very Proud mama! I must support them any way I can! (It’s Hilarious that you still think of them as this, Btw.)

Lol. You know those guys could almost be ‘Irish Twins’. Their birthdays are just one year apart. SK’s birthday is April 23, 1994 and AHS’s birthday is April 17, 1995.

Excited for Twenty Five Twenty One, but probably will pass on Forecasting. Highly skeptical of Song Kang as a love interest for Park Min-young,

Yay! New dramas! I'm looking forward to Twenty Five Twenty One and skeptical about Forecasting Love and Weather due to the Song Kang/PMY pairing but will try it.

Very excited about Twenty Five Twenty One (shouldn’t there be a comma between those numbers?). However, I remain skeptical about Forecasting Love and Weather. My love for Park Min-young cannot overcome my Song Kang fatigue or my anger at Yoon Park not getting his way-overdue male lead role again. Seriously, who did he piss off in the upper echelons of dramaland to not get any leading man roles? It’s gotta be a conspiracy at this point.

But whatever, my excitement to see Kim Tae-ri and my son Choi Hyun-wook is through the roof so I don’t even care (that much) about the other drama. The promos were elite, I hope the show doesn’t let me down.

I have nothing against SK as i’ve never watched any of his work but i do wish it was a PMY-Yoon Park pairing! I guess we’ll just have to wait for the reviews..

I have been wildly misled by promos and trailers in the past, so at this point, I never watch them. That means I'm going into both of these shows pretty blind, although like a lot of people, I'm naturally skeptical of Song Kang paired with Park Min-Young. It's true that I've liked all her dramas that I've seen and that she's able to create chemistry with anyone, it seems. But . . . . I don't know. I have such deep skepticism that Love and Weather is going to be memorable in any way. The story sounds weak.

But Twenty Five Twenty One sounds so much better on paper and I love both leads. I think I'll wait to watch until at least six episodes have dropped, but I definitely *will* watch, even if early word isn't that strong.

is this the end of the drama drought!!
I would love to see Yoon Park as the headline star, maybe this role is something new for him!
Will wait and see how Forecasting love goes!

I've started 25,21 and it seems like just the drama I needed to bring us into spring! I didn't enjoy Kim Tae-Ri's acting a lot in episode one. Episode two has sold me on continuing for now, excited to see what will happen next!

I know I wasn’t in a patient mood this weekend but Forecasting Love and Weather was such a bore. And Song Kang still can’t act. What a disappointment.
