The Witch is Alive: Episode 3 (Drama Hangout)

Behold, your weekly Drama Hangout! We might not be covering this drama, but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a place to talk about it, whether that’s squealing with excitement or piling on the analysis.

This thread is exclusively for this week’s episodes and anything prior, so let’s try to keep it as a place to chat about what’s aired — not spoil future plot points for unsuspecting eyes.

The plot twists have been so far pretty good. Jin-A's situation was foreshadowed but cleverly layered behind the intruder story line. The Hee Soo story continues to get much worse and darker. We were led to believe that Ma-Ri would be the unhinged one. The weird antics of the Ma-Ri couples continues to fuel the comedy . . . strangely Go-Eun really likes Ma-Ri instead of being a jealous rival. For once, the lawyerly advice was spot on: in Korea a person at fault cannot file for divorce.

The divorce game Ma-Ri is playing is so hilarious in an unhinged sort of way. Which, it's always delightful watching Lee Yu-Ri playing someone over-the-top but I'm pleasantly surprised at how cleverly Ma-Ri was setting the stage this episode. Until it went over the edge that is. What's plan B?!

The Jin-ah storyline is definitely bringing the mystery- it seems we've more or less confirmed her husband is still alive? But on the other hand it seems she had a pretty good relationship with him- so why the serial sexual assault with the now-super-creepy wedding song? and was the life insurance payout just a turn of luck?

I'm not yet really into the Hee-Soo storyline yet to be honest, though she does feel increasingly isolated outside the three friends. And I'm not quite sure what's up with the mother-in-law anymore either. If Hee-soo did end up having a hand in her death, she's not great at not being suspicious though, lol. And I'm getting increasingly curious about the Oracle character and her role.

The Oracle seems to be running a scam on her clients by listening into their private conversations. Her mysterious "celebrity" client who is skiddish around her leads to more questions: exact fortune telling or blackmail?

Exactly, yeah. I haven't gotten a bad vibe off of her exactly so I'm leaning towards "exact fortune telling" but it's still some pretty sketchy behavior!
