Drama viewership ratings for the week of Sep. 5-11, 2022

This week in ratings, Poong ended its run and surprised us all with a (unnecessary) second season announcement, while The Law Cafe started off with some nice numbers. It’s the Wednesday-Thursday slot where you can hear crickets — which is sad because each of these dramas deserves such higher ratings. *Stomps off*

As for our weekend slots and usual ratings war, all our dramas saw a drop-off due to the Chuseok holiday. However, we have five (yes, five) dramas ending in the coming week, so all the new titles and jostled slots should shake things up nicely.

Adamas deserves higher ratings? Nah. The minute the diamond-tipped "McGuffin" was mentioned as a murder weapon I felt this one was destined for mediocrity.

IT'S BEAUTIFUL NOW forgot that the heart of its story was the three couples and inserted a completely unneeded cancer story. It had been a decent weekender until then, but its ratings have now dropped with good reason.

LAW CAFE is still finding its footing but got some love anyway while GOOD JOB deserves to do better.

I am going to hazard a guess that TODAY'S WEBTOON would have done better with fewer episodes: The excellent Japanese original had ten.

Me and @reply1988 watched Japanese version at the same time this started. (I was going to wait but her recommendation made me binge watch it once it was released fully) and that was the best choice. If I have wanted it as it slowing degraded, I would not have left any will to watch the Sleeper hit.

Yes the Japanese one excelled in telling the artists stories and giving context to the network around them from the book stores and sales reps. It also gave a really good insight into the CEO’s story which is completely different to the politics in this one.

Even the brown note book served a purpose in the Japanese version not sure why it randomly appeared in this week’s episodes as I don't remember seeing it before. The other random sighting recently was to see them talking to someone working in the place they go to for drinks. In the Japanese version she was a regular contributor to the conversations.

Ah! The lady in Kimono who ran the food and drinks joint our work group regularly went to! How can I forget her! She was as much a part of the group as these folks were and cared for the what was happening to them. And as you said it was the proper team effort which made the difference in the sleeper hit. While it was the author who was found by the FL who writes the Sleeper hit, the way it becomes that Sleeper Hit is not by only her efforts! It was a team effort. It was a real growth story. I liked a lot of performances in the Korean version but the writing was disappointing. (I have also not really clear what purpose some of the characters are serving in the whole story like Daniel Choi's ex-girlfriend and that another woman in the Neon webtoon service team.

I think the other woman in the webtoon team is there for equal opps! Her role was not a female in the Japanese show it was an all male team with some random women in the background in other departments. They made up for it with women in other parts of the character’s world. The K drama has gone for women as powerful heads of both webtoon companies.

I think the message with the ex girlfriend is success can be dangerous in the wrong hands as she seems to have changed and is willing to use underhand means when she feels it’s necessary and or convenient.

Poong getting a second season is unnecessary but not surprising. They said it was the plan at the press conference.

Adamas' ratings make me sad.
