[OST Corner] My Beauty

Fiction has always been my favorite form of escapism ever since my childhood days, and when the responsibilities of adulting began to leave little time for a bookworm’s indulgence, it wasn’t long before music filled that gap. Just like how delving into the pages of a book opens up a whole new universe, listening to an OST can send me tumbling back down the rabbit hole into that drama’s mystical realm.

For me, the best example of this is “My Beauty” from Extraordinary You. Simply thinking of the drama cues the song’s opening notes to dance across its piano keys, and listening to the song brings to mind a montage of our lovable manhwa characters and the fascinating multiverse they inhabit. I may not have had the best high school experience myself, but listening to “My Beauty” makes me feel like I’m living vicariously through the spirited and self-assured Dan-oh, stepping into her shoes and experiencing a whole new realm.

Just like Dan-oh navigated the overlapping worlds of the Stage and Shadow, this song transcends the boundary between reality and fantasy, opening up a gateway into a fantasy world. Whether that’s an out-of-reach umbrella in a flower-filled garden, a starry night sky in a library’s corner, or a fairytale-like historical romance, it’s a magical experience nonetheless. There’s nothing more empowering than being reminded that you have the power to write your own story — after all, like Dan-oh said, if you see the world from your perspective, then you’re the main character.

I love Extraordinary You OST.

This song suited well the theme and Danoh. It's motivating but there is a melancolic touch. She's a very energetic character but she has heart issues.

Sondia's songs were great too.

I also adore the OST from this drama!!! I had My Beauty on replay constantly for the longest time since I first heard it, idk how to describe it but it's a drama OST in every sense of the word. I also loved how it was used to underscore really important plot points in the story, and at times really enhanced and complimented the silent and emotion-ladden gazes between the leads. And the MV (?) for the song which combines clips of the VERIVERY members singing in the studio with scenes from the drama is A++++.

Another solid track from this drama is the slower ballad from Stray Kids 'Never-ending Story'. One of my all time favourites also!!

Oh, my nugu (that's a term of endearment!) faves are featured here, what a day! I love this song so much too - NEVER skip it, and I'm an infamous skipper depending on my current mood - one of their firsts I really liked. Sadly their ITAEWON CLASS OST, while being nice, didn't have the same impact for me, and after that they didn't do any as a group, I believe, which is a shame. *sigh* I've had the same regret with their seniors VIXX, hilariously. Some things just never change...

oh I love this song too. The intro is magical, everytime I listen this song, it reminds me their legendary umbrella scene or every ending episode. the song really fit Dan Oh character.
ah, now I want to rewarch Extraordinary You again
