Shin Ha-kyun leads The Audit team in tvN’s new office series

Shin Ha-kyun, Lee Jung-ha, Jin Gu, Jo Ah-ram

tvN’s new investigative office drama The Audit (previously translated as Thank You) has been slotted on the 2024 schedule, lining up a mix of heavyweights and up-and-comers with Shin Ha-kyun (Evilive), Lee Jung-ha (Moving), Jin Gu (Shadow Detective), and Jo Ah-ram (Doctor Cha) headlining the series.

Set around the auditing office in our story’s JU construction company, Shin Ha-kyun stars as the department’s team lead Shin Cha-il. Perhaps due to the nature of the job, our sharp-tongued hero has zero trust in people and is a force to be reckoned with when negotiating. Analytical and decisive, he acts solely by the book and is unmoved by emotional pleas.

Of course, Lee Jung-ha is Cha-il’s complete opposite as the optimistic and hapless new hire Gu Han-soo. Angling for a transfer to JU’s Florida branch, Han-soo had applied for the auditing team in hopes of using the position as a stepping stone. However, working under Cha-il is a challenge — putting his job and his American dreams at risk — but the spirited Han-soo is determined to power through.

In JU’s executive offices, Jin Gu takes on the role of vice-president Hwang Dae-woong. Using his charisma and charm, he easily sways others to his side and his ultimate goal is to take over the company by surpassing his two older brothers. But Dae-woong faces a difficult hurdle in his plan when Cha-il is appointed to the auditing office.

Last but not least, Jo Ah-ram’s character is a fellow new hire in the auditing department, the ambitious and individualist Yoon Seo-jin. Although she’s known Dae-woong from a young age, at work they pretend to be strangers. But her loyalties are divided between Dae-woong and Cha-il’s team, and it’s not yet clear which ladder she’ll choose.

Directed by PD Kwon Young-il (Wedding Impossible, Doom at Your Service) with scripts penned by Choi Min-ho (Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist 1), tvN’s The Audit is expected to broadcast later this year.

Nice to see Lee Jung Ha has another project lined up.
The story sounds like Numbers though. I wonder what the writer will do to make auditing look exciting.

Maybe it will center on the relationships of those in the auditing field and not too many numbers running around, cause nothing can top Choi Jin-Hyuk for making auditing sexy AND interesting!

Most likely some chaebol power grab too.

Choi Jin Hyuk was the main draw for me in Numbers. 😅

Having discovered last year that there is nothing-NOTHING-sexier than accountants and accounting, its not surprising that kdramas again return to this action packed vocation. But I have to warn the faint of heart--expect a lot of violence and a surprising amount of nudity, especially if JU construction has an accounting library, as you might expect of a construction firm.

I'm here for the car crashes and birth secrets. I don't even demand a shower scene, despite that being a foundational accounting practice.

No time for showers, since the entire economy of Korea will be at stake.

@leetennant You’ll also want to wear a sword brooch on your lapel which will make your opponents quake in their shoes!! Go Girl Boss.

So I started the first episode. I'm 15 minutes in. And I have laughed less at actual comedies. Having L as the lead just makes it better because he cannot act so his histrionic line deliveries just make it funnier.

Numbers was a delight when watched with a light heart and with @alathe at our side!

It was one of my ‘watched but unbeaned’ dramas of last year. Overall I enjoyed NUMBERS.
It had to be one of the easiest gigs in Choi Min-soo’s career. Just guessing but perhaps 75% of his scenes took place in his office or on an elevator. Most of his scenes could have been front loaded and shot in 1-2 weeks and see ya!

That's when elevator paint colors and posters come in handy to keep you invested. You can even learn to recognize which building they are in just by the insides of the elevators.

Just don't get sucked in by the cardboard box ppl in the fabulous accounting library. Yes, in the show they look great, storing all the incriminating records you'd ever need. But when you get the boxes home they don't have that polished, professional look that they have in the show. Take it from a remorseful buyer!

Who needs a filing storage system when the incriminating file will literally fall on your head at the right time.

Nice to see some action/thriller/investigation drama back on my screen again (apart from historicals), even if it is related to accounting (a subject that I am clueless) in high school. I am certain that the writers have something that will set this drama and Numbers apart, otherwise, why would 3 good actors, Shin Ha Hyun, Jin Goo and Lee Jung Ha would want to join this drama...

“Optimistic and hapless” Lee Jung-ha! I’m just over here giggling about how cute I hope he is in this.

If this has some lighter elements I might give it a try but it sounds like a poor imitation of Chief Kim/Good manager.

I didn't like neither of Doom at Your Service neither Poong the Joseon Psy, I dropped the second season. So I'm not sure about the production team.

But I like the actors. So maybe I will try it.
