2023 Round-up, Day 25 – Freestyle: The PPL Awards.
Best PPL: Tiger Balm in King the Land – and by “best,” I mean “made me laugh when I realized it was actually PPL and not the set-up for a punchline.” That stuff reeks. 😖
Runner-up:
The car PPL in The Kidnapping Day – showing off how the automatic hatch lift makes it a snap to stow a bound and gagged captive in the back of the car.
Worst PPL:
Whatever was being sold in Numbers ep. 12 by Choi Jin-hyuk and his arms, because all I saw was Choi Jin-hyuk and his arms. (Wait, was that the product?)
Runner-up:
The Tiffany bracelets in Destined With You, for requiring Rowoon to make sure they were visible during an otherwise exceptionally steamy sex scene. I’m sure the boy had more urgent things on his mind!
I always thought it funny that Korean drama PPL was all luxury handbags, cars, phones and coffee pods but Taiwanese dramas was always like kiwi fruit and bread. I had to double take when I saw grape PPL in Kdrama, although of course they’re LUXURY imported grapes so that tracks.
TSoPMC had PPL for Korea branded bell peppers (like normal looking ones–not engorged or anything) the other day…I thought that was, um, pushing it a bit?
Ok, as could only befit the PPL of the Year, 3rd time posting the Treacherous Tale of the Korean Shine Muscat Grape (it’s almost worthy of its own drama at this point):
Tiger Balm is so strong BURNS 😫 I refused to use it growing up but my mum and sister love it for how strong it is. I’d always have to find my own alternative
Ok, seriously, did I miss a Numbers episode or what ….. because I certainly don’t remember the orange sweater or arms. I think I’ve would’ve remembered one of the two or both! Heh!
