I thought long and hard about what to say about my first impression of Melt Me – I call it Thaw Me Drink Me for some insane unknown reason. Anyway, I have a lot to say and also nothing to say about it. Here goes..
Enter our good looking hero with the uneven upper lip wearing 1999 pants (but not the haircut!) making serious facial expressions and showing us he means business. He does mean business. Turns out our main man is an award winning PD – don’t even ask me about that cringe inducing Award scene, I wanted to die inside- and is planning an epic reality TV show where he will freeze himself and another girl (because why not?) for 24 hours.
And what is his credibility?!?! Our GENIUS studied the freezing process for 3 NIGHTS AND 4 DAYS!!! And he even WATCHED A VIDEO!!! This is the point where I had to pause and angrily sort out my laundry because I just couldn’t fathom it all. Yes he has a mad scientist with all the mandatory crazy hair but COMEON! As my 5 year old would say ‘STOP IT DON’T LIKE IT’
I watched an hour episode in 20 minutes, it is that pointless. It spends a full half hour on character flashbacks that establish that he is rich and she is poor and THAT’S ALL. I don’t care about anybody, nothing matters, everything is terrible.
Agree that episode 2 is very flashback-y, as is episode 1. But I liked the second bit of episode 2. I’m not entirely sure why. I think I just thought the cinematography was great; I actually felt sort of nauseous while Mi-ran stumbled around in the 34 degree heat in Seoul.
Ah, okay, I think I know what you’re talking about. I’ve notice this before as well. I think it’s rather endearing? I don’t know, I haven’t thought much about it. I will say, though, that I often fixate on his nose, because I continue to find the plastic surgery very noticeable (I think he looks noticeably different from when he played Donghae in Smile Again).
I have a bad tendency to use the same word twice in the same sentence in reference to the same thing (in this context, “noticeable”/”noticeably”). When will dramabeans include an edit feature? I would like to erase some of the mortification I fell from my a-few-too-many typos and solecisms.

We then get introduced to our Candy with a shot of her wiggling butt to some 90’s pop. I had given up already at this point.
Basically, it’s bad. Like real bad. It’s not the kind of drama you can hate watch and make snarky comments on DB about. It is just that bad.
I told my discord chingus that I will watch ep 2 but the more I write about it I believe I cannot keep that promise.
Happy watching (don’t watch it!)

I completely understand your struggle Ren, I’m going through the same thing. Everyone raved about Melo me & GF, I think I’ll go watch those instead.
I sort of almost wished she’d find a 2nd lead at the college campus… I can’t believe how disinterested I am in JCW.

Its sad isn’t it? Why would he choose this project as his first after his military hiatus? Why?
I guess his only good drama will be Healer. Sigh!
Graceful Fish is makjang amazing. Can’t recommend it enough! Choose it!

I vote for both dramas! Melo for slice-of-life and Graceful Fish for makjang! Hehe

I think he is a good looking guy. I haven’t really noticed the nose but now that you have mentioned it, i’ll watch out for it 😆

Ugh I’d like the edit feature to erase the glaring mistakes in text too.
