Matchmaker look back to early episode
I know the virgin rumour was made up simply to have something to throw at the king, but the illustrations to the gossip of the other matchmakers is still weirdly specific, and unexpected?

Also, I know she was clearly half asleep, but still, I would like to demonstrate how Jung-woo could make the mistake of ending up this way.
And it started with him trying to catch her purse, that was falling to the floor. He did not put up his feet until she had pulled him down on her lap.
(Don’t do this to half strangers, though. Me condoning it in a drama does not equal me wanting any person I know IRL waking up to find anyone on their lap that did not already have a standing invitation).

Matchmakers
Applause to Rowoon for this! Apart from being hilarious just in actually reacting scared because she turns around when he DEMANDS it, he also stops up like a personified whiplash and doubles over … triples over, like a yardstick. Clearly, being tall can be used in other ways than just making other people swoon all the time.
After having cut this gif and seen him use his height like this, I actually had to put in a yardstick for comparison.

So stuffed-up and so cute … how does he do that? It reminded me of the once famous comic duo “Fy and Bi” names after the Danish words for “The Lighthouse and the Trailer”.

Heartbreak Hat
Yes, look at those eyes!
I believe Jung-woo must find out in this moment that it is not “unmarried people” that makes his heart hurt so much. Soon-deuk is not just being practical here, either. Though the rest of her body is fairly contained and energetic, her eyes are wistful before she leaves him here. Oh!

They always frame their scenes so cleverly. Like here with the actual window frames, her „passing the barrier“ and “coming over to his side“ (quite literally and figuratively). As comparison: a similar shot was done when Jungwoo went to tutor her son. Son and him were both sitting nicely separated, each visible in opposing window frames. They didn’t know each other yet, and there was no personal connection established. While here, between Soondeok and Jungwoo, it surely is. 🪭🐧🦆
You know, in the intro, when it was explained what that sss…. matchmaking God(dess) was, and we saw an unknown couple falling into each other’s arms (which happened to be Sam-soon and her not-yet-beau) as well as later, when Soon-deuk caught Jung-woo in her arms – that was framed exactly the same way to, for a second seen through a frame of a workshop by the street. In the first instance, Soon-Deuk was tying a blue/red knot at exactly the same time, while the voice-over said that the matchmaker gods even made matches without knowing it.
The Maeng Mother Matchmaker
As some have pointed out, the Maeng Mother is remarkably apt at putting the officer to work, giving him a chance to prove his worth; maybe she has that matchmaker talent herself?
I have the great pleasure of rewatching the first episodes slowly with a daughter, and only now noticed that the widow was tying the knot – the magic blue/red wedding knot while speaking of Saangyeonsulsa:

The “Rumours”
We know now, that Soon-deuk’s Uncle-in-Law has kidnapped, probably r*ped, and then killed, a girl.
But we know also that Soon-deuk has a pretty innocent view on her in-law family. (Strangely, she didn’t seem really shocked by hearing about Uncle-in-Law). Even if there’s a rumour that her Mother in Law killed her oldest Daughter-in-Law.
It’s a good thing to notice that this friend says knowing not hearing it.

Can we assume the Father Left State Minister-in-Law has held a woman captive in his annex?

He did his best to kille someone eight years ago, at least.

I know that talk with Mother-in-Law at the graves seemes touching, but idk … it also reminded me of people who gently caress an animal the last minutes before it’s slaughtered.

Dear Matchmaker fans,
I have posted really a lot about matchmakers this week, so if you want to see the gifs and stuff, rather than me tagging you five times, I recommend you check out this post, my under-the-water post, https://www.dramabeans.com/activity/p/1489925/
and my Soon-Deuk’s Mother in Law post which I am a bit proud of:

And whether you have seen all the gifs in the comments in this one :

Oh, now I’m not sure it’s them. But anyway, here is a gif slowed down and sped up to fit our needs.
