Some years ago I was introduced to the phrase winter smartness by an ajhumma who unironically interpreted it to mean looking smart while wearing winter wear.
I thought it, I felt it and now I believe it … on the basis of photographic evidence below … that wearing sweaters does not do any favors to anybody’s smartness, even if you are really really really handsome in designer wear.
Unless your name is Lee Soo-hyuk who is being invited by Ahn Min-hyuk to ….
I actually think I have seen a lot of cool sweaters in K-dramas, besides the whole thing of wearing multiple layers that look good together, and the enormous scarves worn by FL in healer. Some dramas owerflow with great sweaters, but I can’t remember which ones right now – I have just noticed it from time to time.
Sometimes they even wear those sweaters in bed … I must say, I think I would prefer a little less clothes for sleeping. There is room between “coat and sweater” and “naked”, and somewhere there is the appropriate amount for clothing if you are sleeping with someone else in the house and don’t like to be naked (yet).
I’m sure if anybody can out-google goggle it is you with your apparently immeasurably vast depths of knowledge, information and experience. So how about sharing dome “good sweater” pics – if such a unicorn actually exists.
Sweaters that often have details like e.g. the gauge changing smoothly, or sometimes many patterns alternating, or an audacious shape, or surprising colours.
I know I have seen dramas where I was thinking: “Is this one sponsored by some avantgarde sweater brand? – but I can’t find them right now, only bits and pieces.

Turtle necks and K-drama actors are I believe a match made in heaven, there are many many threads extolling their beauty. But practicality is a new one. 👍👏
And so, in my head, I thought about this little sweater and called Kang Tae-oh a little honey-bee, and only some hours after having posted that, the obvious occurred to me; Me, who myself at length have argued that he is the happy end for Doom in that Drama. Of course he is a honey-“B”. Duh, so to say. They did that on purpose.

I have actually seen that green jacket lining cum sweater combo IRL but that was girl who wore it in pink and we were not familiar enough for me to investigate further but I remember it.

I think you’re right! That sweater gets around. And the Corporate Daddy look does not suit him.
LMK has had so many terrible perms over the years that I can’t even tell which one this is. If you want nightmares about feral furry creatures, google his promo photos from For the Emperor – but whatever you do, do not watch that movie! 😬
Lee Min-ki sure has had a long standing fascination with indulging in every random fashion trend over the years. He could easily tumble into the “fashion terrorist” category. But somehow he makes all that work!!
I am surprised! I have only seen that stoic, conservatively dressed version, so I am like … okay!?
Apart from that, like I happen to have just written in another comment, audacity looks good on everyone. And Lee Min-ki is not difficult to make look good.
That said, I do not like the bare-breasted look that is very popular in K-popular culture. So I am not too keen on the white t-shirt being pulled down. But his hair, cheek-glitter and eye makeup looks stunning.
I don’t like the other outfit. I can’t even say exactly why, except it looks like a fifteen-year-old who is just trying to find a style and haven’t succeeded yet. Something like that; it doesn’t look apt. Maybe if I saw it from another angle I’d say “THE BEST!!!”, but as it is … meh …

I agree with your views. The white one would have been perfect without having the shirt pulled down needlessly. He has really carried off the look rather well.
The second one is from a 2012 drama Shut Up Flower Boy Band where he’s the leader of a band called … wait for it … Eye Candy so that explains the look. It is the best eyeliner I’ve ever seen on a guy.

After all who else can pull off these looks if not our impossibly beautiful and pretty K-drama leads. So with the goodest of intent I sought help from the “internet” to bolster my argument. When I typed “K-drama actors…” the prompt was “shirtless”. Since I was on a sweater finding mission I resisted and purposefully typed in “sweater” …. and I guess to punish me for daring to go against the suggested prompt I was presented these monstrosities. I didn’t even dare to type “ugly sweaters” or “patterned sweaters” but just presented the evidence “as-is” in the interest of science and further intellectual discussion on this very important topic. The “evidence” is not knit together by cobbling random knickknacks and I solemnly swear I was up to only no good as I searched high and low. So please can anybody search for “good” sweaters that Hopeful and I seem to remember or were we so dazzled by our MLs that their (PPL inspired?) golden glow even made the ugliest of sweaters seem heavenly.
I love that the first suggestion wasn’t “good” kdrama actors, “best” kdrama actors, “kdramas” or anything actually related to their work, just “shirtless”.
