    All set @indyfan👍

    Oh, it’s on! 🥂

    1
    1

Minute 3: I love how conspicuously the body guards press their ears, check the hallway, but NOT the dark apartment!

    4
    2

Sleeping with their PJs on all night. Keeping it PG13. Ofc he’s still recovering and all. Grumble. Grumble.

    3
    1

Dad being dad again. Aaaarg how can he be so disrespectful to his wife, too

    2
    1

Mum was lovely. Why does she put up with it? SY should have spoken up. That was lame.

      2
      1

Maybe he’s just numb to it, having experienced it over and over again. I think mum should follow through and file for divorce, then ride into the sunset with Shinyu’s lawyer friend.

        2
        0

Are we supposed to assume something happened?

    1
    3

I think daddy is a personification and voice of all the petty, spiteful thoughts that people normally block. I LIKE how mommy piched him👌

    3
    0

TeamGiraffe 4ever, but JK was too cute there with the landlady. A man too tall and handsome just may not be good boyfriend material. LOL.

    4
    1

Yes, it was adorable how intimate they acted, her leaning into his shoulder when he opened the door! I foresee GIFs.

      3
      0

What the hay! Where did the bodyguards go? They did so much testing of his building, now she is just going home alone? Whut???

    2
    2

Working at her office sure seems “fun”. Haha, like WTH. What’s with all the physical fighting between adults. (But then again, it’s part of the unique entertainment that is Kdrama.)

    2
    0

Are you at the catfight over Gong? It’s unbearable. Bad, bad script decision.

    5
    0

Wait, that Ma-Gong sequence was NOT a DREAM?? WHUT!

    2
    2

That could have been such a great loveline. Sigh.

…And another kiss interrupted! They’re just playing with us now.

      2
      1

Seriously. And setup at STAIRS. It was *all possible* then, no fear of broken backs

        2

      😂😖

      0

    Yo, I love Gidong!!

    1
    1

yes! the only colleague at the whole city hall worth having.

i believe hong-jo’s co-workers will be redeemed now. bleh.

      2
      1

But all I can see now is EYEBROWS. Oh please, I need that GIF
    🤣🤣🤣

    2
    2

I was contrasting JK and SY’s lipstick in the office scene. JK’s is matte and brown. SY’s is glossy and more pink. JK for the win. Just my pref.

      1
      2

      I SWEAR!😁

      1
      1

Oh, Oh. I see what you mean. Why tho? 😂

Also, why does HJ always need rescuing? Even against kids.

        2
        0

    Go mum!!!!

    2
    2

      Yass! She filed for divorce!

      Out of nowhere. Ha!

I’m glad she recorded the verbal/emotional abuse.

      3
      0

So satisfying! Though I don’t mind redemption, I suffer fools gladly.

      2
      0

Oh nooo… Ging, don’t do it!!! Total cringe fest.

    1
    2

      * Gong 😅

Ugh. Would have had the same reaction as Ma.

      1
      0

IKR… Wow, sooo much second hand embarassment!! I totally get Ma!

      2
      1

I actually liked it when the young office colleague stated this is the kind of public proposal women hate (and at their workplace cafeteria!). But not that Hong-jo started the chant.

It really was cringe. Except for the boombox. I liked that!

        4
        2

Was it that thimble full inspiration from Aeng Cho that made Hong-jo stand up to Na-yeon… not much but a beginning!

    2
    3

I thought that was a 180! I loved it, but not really believable. Def. Aeng Cho’s spirit.

      2
      1

If you notice, she has always stood up to NY in her adult avatar. There have been some good snappy retorts from her always. That time she got slapped, I think she was shocked but she took it out on the right person, SY, cause he caused the mess.
She only gave her colleagues a long rope, and seems like she is justified, since now they are coming around.

      3
      1

You’re right. Maybe, it’s because Hongjo knows Nayeon is “beyond repair”, since she has known her since childhood. It aches my heart to see how she wants her colleagues to be “good people” though. I think they have proven time and time again that they’re bad news… 🤔

        3
        1

Yea, I mean they were played as another level of cheap. The actresses interpreted it that way for laughs, I guess. Actually, if they had been subtle and showed some shades of humanity, they would have been able to sell the redemption better.
This is why I always had hopes for Dad, Lee PilMo pitched it perfectly as the petty dad who nags his son, the petty husband who takes his wife for granted, but loves them both.

          2
          0

But if Na-yeon staged the boyfriend-stealing (I had expected him to genuinely have fallen for Hong-jo, and Na-yeon only being part of it because she wanted him ( it was always “the boy Na-yeon liked” not “her boyfriend” when she wasn’t lying to Shin-yu) .
But she staged it? So WHY did she do that? Was ther some ancient reason?

      3
      3

PPL for a BANK, really??!! But after ppl for an app, I shouldnt be surprised.

    1
    1

LOL. Yeah. So subtle, not. If I watched Kdramas, I wouldn’t think online banking existed in SK.

    Mom likes Hong-jo 😍

Shin-yu is taking her to “his” home.

    2

This time the home visit seems promising!

    3
    1

I forgive them for all the interruptions 😍🥵

      3

        *fans self*

        At last! 😂

        5
        0

I’ll have to rewatch that scene to confirm my reaction (such suffering). But wow. They didn’t skimp. 0 to 100!

        5
        0

Return of the Tiffany bracelet …. finally the white shirt and …..

    2
    0

    It’s a girl!

    So it was this scene.

    3
    2

Hong-jo back to her dare devil ways – there is no danger she doesn’t dive into head first.

    3
    1

Like a Beanie said – was the garden creep in black ops – how is he so competent.

    2
    0

I am already worried for URams granpa, and now why is this grandma calling?? Cant you let them honemoon in peace??!!

    3
    3

Well, you know, shaman got SY ready for another round it seems. 🤭

      3
      1

Ah, ok spoke too soon about grandma, but there you go… They need story for one more hour, no?

      2
      0

Talk about a bucket of ice water. Poor Shinyu. “Yes, ummm, please, let’s talk about conception epiphanies you had directly after the first night I spent with my girlfriend…”
      🤣

      3
      3

OMG It would have totally been for me. But this SK! Low birth rates need fixin’ State approved aphrodisiac. 🤣

        4
        1

          Lol!!!

Creepy though to think that Eun-wol kinda senses them having sex. That naughty shaman.

          2
          0

Seems to have given him the hots though.

        3
        1

It was hilarious! And since we know they are totally in for the long haul, because this is a K-drama, and also, all that magic, then it’s not an ice bucket, but also not exactly where he was mentally, so to speak.
I imagine her dream is with no sex, just like ” a peach tree, a dove, and a girl dressed in a pink hanbok” – that kind of conception dream.

        4
        0

Okay that was a wild wild ride … thank you all for so much fun!!

    3
    1

N-uh. She didn’t just dismiss the bodyguards to walk away with sus grandpa, did she? 🤦🏾‍♀️

    3
    5

      The smartwatch though…

But no, I blame it on the upcoming showdown. Otherwise there would be nothing left for the last episode than bliss and wedding bells! 😂

      4
      1

        LOL. Yes.
…And the land shenanigans. (cool with that)
…And mum returning to contrite dad. (not cool with that)

        2
        1

Ooooh, booooo for mum & dad!!! I was so rooting for her to get together with Shinyu’s friend. Blame it on the financial crisis that we saw acoming (re the children having to marry for money). Also, let’s be real: it wouldn’t have looked good on her resume now that she has a foot in the door with her acting career again. Divorce still seems such a taboo… maddening, truly.

          2
          4

Yeah, probably right. But if I recall right, there was a famous case of an older actress who did just that. So I was hoping… Anyhow, now her fees can save Dad’s business. He’ll value her now. All is forgiven. 🙄 Pls surprise me #16.

            2
            0

@indyfan They was such an actress IRL? Wow. Okay, I must admit I get all my knowledge from dramas (lol, I know they’re exaggerated!)… I directly thought about One Spring Night: her sister working at the tv station failing to get the job – or not wanting to admit she was divorcing her sh*t show of a husband, because it would have “looked bad”. Blech

            2
            0

@sonai I definitely read about one. I don’t remember her name atm but I can try to find it if you want. But you are right. It is mostly taboo. And it is considered a “scandal” from what I’ve read for public figures.

            3
            0

Well, I was not on board Mom getting with son’s bf. That is a bit icky to me. But I think divorce dad, but remain friends if he is contrite, would be good. Regardless, at least they showed him apologizing. And Lee PilMo expresses regret beautifully.

            3
            0

I’m sorry. I have so little sympathy for her right now, or more like the writers.

      4
      1

Yup. I mean, I realize they depend on putting Hong-jo in danger for their bread and butter, but yea, it is getting annoying. Thankfully, after tomorrow, Hong-jo can probably be allowed to use her brains to raise her daughter.

        2
        0

      Danger calling 📱 📞

      Hong-jo … coming … wait for me!!

      3
      0

Do you even know HongJo? Of course she did!

      2
      0

The preview made him sus – I hadn’t considered him sus before. But she shouldn’t dismiss the guards, there was no reason. Did she count on ole granpaw to kung-fu IncelGardenGuy™ if he popped up?

      2
      1

I kinda suspect a kidnapping of that young boy situation, and grandpa now has to do as IncelGardenGuy says. 😖

        5
        1

Oh! I hadn’t considered another awful possibility. Finale will be crammed as it is.

“Did she count on ole granpaw to kung-fu IncelGardenGuy™ if he popped up?” 😂 Ah, our Hong-jo. Maybe we need a new safety check, “What would Hong-jo do?” and then do the exact opposite. LOL.

          5
          1

That episode covered a LOT of ground. Overall, satisfying. I was dreading too much lovey-dovey goo, too less answers. But they struck a good balance and moved some things along. Especially the 🍑dream. At least now HongJo cannot complain of dying without… dating anyone.

    4
    1

That euphemism: I salute you. 🤣

Like this episode a lot, too! Must definitely rewatch for further lipstick investigation.

      2
      1

That peach is so suggestive tho. LOL. I’m glad she too she got to “date” before NOT dying. Preview is a fakeout. I’m sure of it. I’m convinced now truly tragic endings come out of left field. Writers be cruel like that.

        4
        2

Just hope Hong-jo’s next stop is NOT at a tea house with Grim Reaper Lee Soo-hyuk.

    2
    1

… and how exactly are they trying to fill up the next one hour ??

Na-yeon, Mayor, Construction Creep, Garden Creep – all arranged in a pretty row?

    1
    2

Scenes set for fake-out – Hong-jo’s kidnapping by Garden Creep.
      – U-ram’s grandfather’s questioning by police as accomplice.
      – Jae-kyung’s alliance with Construction Creep.

      3
      0

Haha, yea… Not busy at all!!

      1
      0

Just wanted to share two observations I made while scanning through episode 1 earlier today.

    a. Hong-jo’s hair looks very brown in the initial episodes, and

    b. The shaman lady’s eyes turn red like Aeng Cho while describing the curse.

I had noticed this earlier and put it down to channeling the spirit while talking about the past.

    2
    0

There is so much mirroring in the drama – it is almost calling out for a rewatch.
    🤣 🤣 🤣

    1
    1

    The eyebrows though. Just saying.

    1
    1

Thanks for a brilliant time discussing, @indyfan, @sonai, @seeker and @ceciliedk! See you all tomorrow!

    2
    1

Whoa… this was fun to read through! 👍 Great idea for a shared live watch!

    4
    1

Agreed. This looked like a blast. I would have totally been the biggest wet blanket EVAR. I absolutely hated almost every moment of this episode, NGL.

I’m crushed. Not as bad as HeartBeat in anyway, but crushed all the same.

      3
      2

        @indyfan @sonai @seeker @ceciliedk @SemmaVetti

Thanks for a vicarious fun ride! I wish I could have joined you but alas, I had a full day of non-optional work stuff today (and tomorrow, too). Now that I’ve watched the episode, I’m catching up on all the commentary and WTF-ing on the fanwall. Those of us who had “spending yet another night chastely giggling at each other in pajamas” and “wearing his dress shirt (and nothing else)” on our bingo cards win a prize, right? And I can name my own prize – right?

@attiton, sorry it was a bummer for you! I wouldn’t say it was a good episode, exactly, but it had its moments. Onward!

        5
        2

Sure you can, @elinor, as long as it is not a peach-Eun Wol already picked it 😉

          1
          0

TBH I was at work too, but I juggled things around a bit, just for the co-watch. Hope I can tomorrow too🤞

          2
          0

@attiton After some consideration: yes, the whole plot line surrounding Jaekyung went kind of under the radar (in our stream, lol), but I suspect this is (in part) what you’re referring to? I suspect all of it to be a fake out. 🤔 Upsetting nonetheless, to know where his loyalty is (lies? Resides?), even though his motivation might not be ulterior motives, only… doing his job, really.

        3
        1

No, it’s not just what they did to JK (I actually expect them to redeem him today). I was disappointed in most things. Again, you all have fun!!!

          0

    @hopefulromantic @elinor @attiton

People have after party for a reason!

Do join “whenever” – what works for you. I guess that is why they say Misery likes company.

As @indyfan said let’s make sparking lemonade from our Destined lemons. 🍋 😋

    @SemmaVetti @sonai @ceciliedk

Waiting eagerly for the finale live(ish) watch. Aja aja, hwaiting!!
