Beanie level: Chaebol’s poor doppelganger

Day 12 – The “oldie” (not 2020) you loved the most
It is easy – Forest of secrets.
I know I am quite late to the party and I am still very slow – I have not watched Forest of Secrets – 2 (I am waiting for the Christmas break so that I can watch this drama in peace without missing a single detail).
I generally avoid watching highly acclaimed drama as it raises my expectations to nearly impossible level. I decided to watch it as Forest of Secrets -2 was around the corner.
Only thing I can say about this drama is that it deserves all the praise and love.

True Beauty episode 1 and 2#
What is this show trying to be? It has Manhaw feel to it but it is not meta like Extraordinary you. Does it trying to comment on societies beauty standards and its psychological impact on young people? Is it rom-com? It is not comedic enough and romance has not kicked in yet.
It is not full on manhaw, slice of life or rom-com.
I will give it two more episodes for Moon Ga-young. She is only one who is holding my attention.

Not even watching the drama, so only going to comment on the comic. The comic is conventional romcom fare with all the typical drama tropes. Fluffy, pretty, but kind of boring. If you’re looking for a message, I guess it would be that people sabotage themselves because of their own insecurities, but overall the whole comic feels like an excuse to go overboard on makeup PPL. Dudes are pretty, though!

Same. The almost-suicide moment was jarring because I couldn’t get if it was supposed to be funny or tragic. It has a manhwa feel, some horror stuff, rom-com tropes, and when the music kicks in it looks like a kpop music video!

Nam-joo has jumped genres. From romantic lead in Manhaw to spy /action hero in Cheat on me if you can.
Poor dried squid fairy – he is still stuck in canteen for True beauty. He should call up his old colleague to know secrets of the trade.

Day 10 – The drama beanies convinced you to watch
18 again: I was not fan of original movie and when the drama was announced I decided to give it a pass. I was not interested to watch 2-hour movie stretched into 16 hours for the show.
Then we got beanie wall filled with baby love triangle, some what adult love triangle and LDH pretending to be 18-year-old and failing hilariously with his Ajusshi side always winning.
What started as curiosity ended with a warm and satisfactory watch.

The drama you watched just because and end up loving:
I will find you on beautiful day- I am not fan of actors and I did not find premises of show interesting.
I just decided to watch this on whim and found the satisfaction of reading my favorite book on rainy day with hot cup of tea.

Totally agree with this. I’m thinking about writing a post about it tomorrow.

The OTP you didn’t think you’ll adore.
There are pairing in drama land that you adore from the get go like Song-ah and Joon-Young from DYLB. Some are so captivating that you can not take your eyes off them like Moon-Young and Gang -tae. All such parings are built to be the main draw of the drama and are clear from the get go.
There are some OTP that took me by surprise and made me root for them.
First one is Yu-ri and Shin-joo. They are weird version of opposite attract. A psychotic and unhinged exterior concealing caring, warm personality meets fluff ball inside and out.
Second one is Wol-ju and chief Gwi. I just wanted them to be family again with their son Kang-bae after centuries of suffering and misunderstanding.

Finally finished Tale of the nine tailed. It really should have been called Tale of the nine tailed brothers.
The relationship between two brothers was the most compelling thing about the show. It went from extreme adoration to extreme hatred and came to an end with a great sacrifice.
Rang’s whole life was about his brother. His all emotions love, hatred, grief revolved around Yeon and at the end he gave up his life for Yeon’s happiness.
That’s how an epic story should conclude.

I totally bawled through the last episode because of all the letters and videos. It was so good.

The drama you know you will re-watch: It’s Okay Not to be Okay.
I don’t generally re-watch drama entirely. I watch some spectacular moments of the drama again and again. The same goes for It’s Okay Not to be Okay. It has stunning visuals and some quite beautiful artwork. I liked fairy-tales within the show. I will watch those again and again.

The drama I finished for the bean: Record of Youth
This drama was quite bland. Nothing in drama felt organic. I just used it as background drama when I was doing some chores. If you ask me something about this drama, I will not be able to answer.
Everything about this drama was quite forgettable.

Drama I could not finish: Men are men.
I generally watch a drama for couple of episodes. If that drama does not hold my attention, I just forget about it. I don’t consider it as dropped, but Men are men has a distinction. I dropped it at episode 13. I know, I am bashing this drama again and again but his drama is a blight on my name – Casual Drama fan. I should have dropped it at episode 3.
Another drama I stopped watching was Was it love? But I have selective amnesia about it. I know it aired but I have no memory watching it. So, I did not count it as dropped. But I do have painful memories of watching Men are men.

Well, Men are Men is a drama I don’t know how I managed to finish (in fact I do, by FF the last 4 episodes). Such a surrealistic plot, such a nonsense, so many plot holes… nothing made sense. In fact I think I deserve two beanies for it 🤣🤣🤣

I finally finished Search. It cemented my belief- I should avoid all dramas based in a forest.

Spolier – They killed off all interesting characters and what a sad end of Captain Jo’s life. He lived in forest for 23 years in state between human and animal.

I admit that I only fast forwarded through the first episode.

Ha! Thank goodness it was a fest of mediocrity since the very first eps, so I wasn’t as disappointed by the ending. They basically killed every complicated characters in the series. A very lazy way to avoid giving a difficult but more satisfactory resolution.

LOL. Good advice for drama watchers.

The uncanny counter ep#2:
Okay show. I am sold. Bring it on.

Uncanny encounter episode#1:
Solid premier. I like team good guys for now. They have given So Mun all the information he needs and dangers he might encounter. They have given him a choice.
For once we have wise old figure who is up front about the world they live in and dangers they might encounter.
I am afraid that it might not last long. I think there is more to death of So Mun’s parents. Wi gen does know the whole story and was not totally honest about So Mun’s question about his parents.

Tale of Nine Tailed# How this show is campy, addictive and fun? I should just conclude that show with LDW would be at-least pleasant watch (or at the max- great watch)

Live On episode 2#
Where are all the parents? I have not seen single parent on screen. There is phone call between the brat and her mom but nothing else. Did I miss it?

All caught with Tale of Nine tailed and ready for last four episodes. It is turning out to be quite addictive- all thanks to the Gumiho Gang.

Live on episode 1#
Well I watched it and my first impression was – meh. I will watch couple of more episodes , but I am pretty sure I will drop it.

Tale of Nine Tailed episode 7#
Yeon broke Rang’s heart twice in five minutes.
I somehow get Yeon’s attitude, he cannot turn back the time and change it. Nothing Yeon does will bring brothers together again except Yeon abandoning Ji-a.
He could try apologising but will Rang accept it?

Finished Love is sweet. Well, finished is bit of a stretch, just say I forwarded and skipped around a lot.
The only thing that worked for me in drama is
– Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi together. Their interactions are quite cute and fun to watch with exception of few instances.
Rest of it is quite meh.

Luo Yun Xi could have a burlap sack as it’s acting partner and I would still feel entertained <3

SAME. I finished watching last night too and I just skipped to OTP’s scenes. The proposal scene was beautiful but the drama could’ve ended at Ep30. The conflict on the last part felt pushed. But I love the chemistry of the OTP!

Finally finished DYLB. Did I love Brahms? – I definitely loved two protagonist and was annoyed with everything else – the teachers, judgmental peers and the characters that did not receive any growth.
After watching this show it felt like musical world is most toxic workplace ever.
