Dramabeans 5-Year Anniversary Giveaway #3

girlfriday: Week three of the blazin’ birthday giveaway extravaganza extraordinaire!

javabeans: You know what that means: More presents! Man, what a spoiled 5-year-old Dramabeans is.

girlfriday: Right? If DB were a kid, we’d have one needy brat on our hands.

javabeans: Then again, most 5-year-olds receive presents, and DB’s giving ‘em out. Although I don’t know who gave that kid my credit card info.

girlfriday: Is that what’s going on? That explains a lot. This time we’re giving away a brand new iPod nano, but that’s not the best part. It’s chock full o’ goodies! It’s got a Javabeans Playlist on it, which I’m gonna venture to say is worth more than the player itself.

javabeans: We’ve also got a few more premium memberships to give out to Dramafever, in case you want to get friends/siblings/parents addicted to your drama poison of choice. Because as we know, drama addictions are best shared, not cured.

girlfriday: Yeah, rehab’s for quitters, and we’re no quitters!

javabeans: So get crackin’! By which we mean, please post up lots of nice thoughts for our many many guest posters over the years.

girlfriday: They know how much we appreciate them, but as we know from personal experience, sometimes the warmest thanks comes straight from you guys, so please be generous with the love!

And the winners of Giveaway #2 are…

  • Bethany, winner of a one-year premium subscription to Dramafever,
  • PrincessSerenity81, winner of a one-year drama membership to Crunchyroll,
  • and Bluefyre, winner of one $100 gift certificate to Yesasia.

Congratulations! We’ll be contacting you shortly via email. On to the next one!

Giveaway #3

Question: Actually it’s not a question this time, but a prompt: Thank a guest blogger, any guest blogger. That can mean any of our current contributors (i.e., gummimochi, kaedejun, HeadsNo2) or anybody who’s ever written a guest post on Dramabeans in the past. (*Don’t forget to use a valid email address, and please indicate at the bottom of your comment if you are NOT a resident of US/Canada.)

Prizes:

  • 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • another 1-year premium membership at DramaFever (US/Canada residents only)
  • an iPod nano (maybe with some stuff on it, wink-wink).

DramaFever offers free legally-licensed dramas and movies with high-quality English subtitles. With a premium membership you can watch unlimited, commercial-free, and enjoy extra content as well as unlimited mobile device access and high-definition. Check out recently added titles here.

Winners announced: Sunday, January 22, at 8pm, Pacific Standard Time*

*Or, 10pm in Mexico City, 11pm in NYC, 1am in Buenos Aires, 4am in London, 5am in Paris, noon in Singapore and Manila, 1pm in Seoul and Tokyo, or 3pm in Sydney and Vladivostok. Okay, you get the point. (You can refer to this handy Time and Date converter to find out what this is in your time zone.)

Can I thank two people? Because I'd love to thank kaedejun for her "What's Up" recaps (even though i haven't read the latest ones. must...resist...spoiling self!) and samsooki for her sort-of-not-really recent "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon" recaps, especially since that was my first time watching the classic and it helped to have recaps side-by-side :)

Thank you kaedejun for your recaps! Musical was really boring towards the middle to end and I personally stopped watching it but thank you for being faithful so that I at least got to know what happened with the story line.

SAMSOOKI!!!!
Loved loved LOVED the Sam-soon recaps. It was great re-reading/re-watching that drama. The thing I love about reading any of the recaps on here is the in depth predictions/insights about the story and their characters. I was so excited when my all-time favorite drama has finally been recapped on dramabeans. =)

I really want to thank gummimochi for all the Running Man and High Kick 3 recaps.

First of all, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Running Man and have been an avid fan since the beginning. I always watch the episodes and it is nice to read/see someone who enjoys it just as much and is able to incorporate their own sense of humor into the recaps.

Secondly, I wanted to watch High Kick but lack of access to english subs and fear of long sitcoms pushed me away from it. But Lo and Behold, I found these recaps from gummimochi and I fell in love with the series.

Once again, thanks so much gummimochi and I hope you continue your wonderful writing! :)

I must thank gummimochi for the Running Man recaps. She was there to preserve the sanity of us RM fanatics when the RM subbing community was in protest and didn't release any episodes. I have been stalking her for her RM recaps even before Dramabeans but I am glad she found an opportunity here to share her recaps to more people.

So thank you, thank you, thank you! Also I can't wait for next week's RM recaps! IU is Love~~~!

I would also like to thank samsooki. His recaps of City Hall are worth reading even if you do not want to watch the show or even if you don't like the show or any of the actors. But for those of us who adore the show, especially after episode seven, which samsooki warns is a game changer, his recaps really capture the essence of why City Hallers are as crazed as any fans can be. He eloquently captures every heart pounding moments from the kiss to my fear of big brother (he is so scary in this that I have to remind myself that he is probably a nice person in real life whenever I see him in anything else). City Hall was my second k-drama, and My Name is Kim Sam Soon was my first--both this summer. So you can imagine my scream of delight, when I sa that he was recapping that show, too. Please come back samsooki!

Thank you gummimochi!! I love reading you Hick Kick 3 Recaps. I can't really find the time to keep with the show, but being as impatient as I am, I also can't wait to know what's going to happen next (especially with Ha Sun/Ji Seok and Ji Won/Jong Seok <3). Seeing your recap updates on the Dramabeans homepage really brighten my day and reading them has relieved some of the stress of college apps. So thanks again!!

Thank you, gummimochi, for recapping Running Man. We seem to watch it at the same time most weeks, so that the recap shows up within hours of me watching the episode. It's nice to have (virtual) company while watching one of my favorites!

Kaedejun, thank you for your wonderful review of 2011. I was especially delighted to read that you thought Bae Soo Bin's acting in 49 Days was great; other reviews had me wanting to throw something at the cat (except that I don't have one). I have read the 500-odd reviews of 49 Days on Dramafever and not one singled out BSB for over-acting. So thank you, Kaedejun!

I would like to thank gummimochi for Running Man recaps. If I didn't check out your recaps, I wouldn't experience laughing so hard I might die. =)) I am really addicted to Running Man right now and I even prioritized it over my US dramas. I downloaded the all the episodes and it's super fun. I couldn't be any happier. Thank you so much! :D

Thank you because you recapped Painter of the Wind! Your recaps were fantastically hilarious and also informative for me who wants to know anything about Korean history. After reading your recaps, I would think of your interpretation of the scenes and watch the episodes again. Your recaps were one of the reasons I found that drama and became a solid Moon Geun-young fan! Thank you so much! :D

And to the rest of the guest bloggers, thank you for helping javabeans and girlfriday, and for sharing your insights on Kdramas. All of you are AWESOME!

My biggest thank you for a guest blogger would be for samsooki, here's why:

1- He recapped one of my all time favorite dramas and a mark in the Korean television history "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon"

2- He loves Kim Sun Ah almost as much as I do.

and last but not at all the least
3- The sheer fact that he is the only MAN (as far as I know) who recaps these gems of dramas here on Dramabeans.

Dear Mr. Samsooki,
I appreciate every recap you wrote just for us DB readers, your choices are always spot on.
Please don't stay out of the spotlight for long and bring us new recaps for long lost and forgotten gems...... pretty please :)

KAEDEJUN:
Thank you so much for your recaps!
Way back when you covered Prosecutor Princess because people were busy watching the other shows that had more hype (Cinderella's Sister & Personal Taste), I really really like your train of thought.
So much that I followed you to your own personal blog, and now your own website LOL
:)

Anyway thanks to all guest bloggers, are in order.
You guys are awesome for writing such detailed recaps (and so many screencaps too)
I really do appreciate you all~

I am very much indebted to all of you wonderful writers of DramaBeans for feeding my drama obsession, and I guess one of the dearest to my heart would be HeadsNo2, because, well, she pretty much saved the day twice for picking up and recapping dramas I would otherwise be oblivious about. (Me too flower!, History of the Salaryman; both dramas delightfully quirky and eccentric. ) I love that she seems to have the affinity for out-of-the-box stories, and that alone makes her extraordinary in my book.

So here's a loud, big and heartfelt 'KAMSAHAMNIDA' to you, HeadsNo2! :) ♥

"Thank a guest blogger?" Only one? Whoa, then I have to go with Samsooki. Thank you for City Hall and MNIKSS recap. Loved the shows, loved your recaps. You put your love for the shows on your recap, and it just purrfect.

But I also wanna thank kaedejun and thundie for curing my CSW bias, I still love him, but I don't drool for hours when I see a picture of him somewhere.
