Ratings drop further for Bad Guy and Road No. 1
Kim Jae-wook, So Ji-sub Ouuuuch. Looks like the World Cup really did a number on SBS’s postponed dramas. While Monday-Tuesday’s Coffee House dropped to a 5.6% (from approximately 9%) after two weeks off the air, Wednesday-Thursday’s Bad Guy had an even bigger fall — down from 15% to 5.6%. Yikes. Out of sight, out of... More »

Road No. 1 premiere numbers lower than expected
Road No. 1 premiered this week, and despite all the fanfare over its cast and 13 billion won budget, the first two episodes brought in a 9.2% and 9.1%, respectively. Not horrible numbers, but lower than hoped, certainly. Especially considering that competitor drama Baker King Kim Tak-gu on KBS climbed even higher with a 27.1%... More »

It’s no surprise that World Cup coverage is dominating Korean airwaves at the moment, and the Korea-Greece game in particular was a huge draw with viewership ratings of 50.3% (numbers from TNS Media unless otherwise indicated). As a result, its broadcaster SBS is sitting pretty in the ratings game (several other games also drew hefty... More »

I haven’t watched the premiere yet, but the numbers are in and it’s a pretty solid first outing for KBS’s new drama Baker King Kim Tak-gu, which replaced Cinderella’s Sister. According to TNS Media, Episode 1 pulled in a 15.7%, though SBS’s Bad Guy wasn’t too far behind with a 14.2%. In third place was... More »

Baker King’s official posters and preview video
Posters are out for Baker King Kim Tak-gu, the drama replacing Cinderella’s Sister this week. The one above features the four main leads: (from left to right) Eugene, Yoon Shi-yoon, Joo-won, and Lee Young-ah. Press releases have tossed around comparisons to My Name Is Kim Sam-soon, but I wouldn’t expect much similarity, as those remarks... More »
