Actress Shin Mina (The Naked Kitchen) has come out with her “project music video” and song collaboration with rock band Loveholics (watch/listen below).

The song is called “Miracle Blue” and features Shin Mina’s pretty, airy vocals (again, not the strongest singer, but they suit the feel of the music). The video was also made in conjunction with Calvin Klein jeans, which feature prominently in what I suppose we can call a branded MV — Shin walks around in different settings and occupations wearing various jean styles.

Meanwhile, Loveholics is planning on releasing their full-length album (their first after parting ways with Jisun) in August.

Actress Shin Mina (Naked Kitchen, Devil) will be lending her vocals as guest singer with rock band Loveholic — or, as they’re known now, Loveholics.

Lead singer Jisun left the band to go solo two years ago, and the remaining two groupmates Lee Jae-hak and Kang Hyun-min have chosen to feature a rotating door of guest vocalists (Alex, Horan, Whale) rather than sticking with one fixed replacement. They’ve used the slightly altered moniker “Loveholics” for those collaborations, and released their first digital single “Butterfly” last December. For their second, they’re working with Shin Mina.

She isn’t wholly inexperienced as a singer, and last year recorded a song with Toy that was featured in the branded entertainment project Summer Days (listen below). That also starred Hyun Bin and Ryu Seung-beom and was touted as a “crossover film” — but you can just consider it an elaborate commercial. She also participated on the soundtracks to her films Go Go 70 and The Naked Kitchen.

Shin’s new single with Loveholics is titled “Miracle Blue” [미라클 블루], and she’ll appear in the music video as well. However, it’s not a straight music video — it sounds like more branded entertainment, as it also features Calvin Klein (for which she is brand model). Her management explains that this is a new project that “brings music together with fashion.”

I don’t think she’s particularly strong as a vocalist, but it seems like her voice really isn’t the focus of this venture, is it? (I miss Loveholic + Jisun.)

Modern-rock band Loveholic parted ways with its singer, Jisun, back in 2007, to allow her the freedom to pursue solo work. In the intervening time, we haven’t heard much about the solo stuff, although she has done some collaborations with other artists (such as singing on Epik High’s fifth-album track “One”). But now, the singer (and songwriter) has finally announced official plans for her comeback.

A management company representative said on the 14th that Jisun’s debut solo album will go on sale on February 3. The style of music shouldn’t be a drastic change, as it still falls into the general rock style of her previous work with Loveholic.

Meanwhile, she remains on good terms with her former groupmates Kang Hyun-min and Lee Jae-hak, who altered the band name to “Loveholics” after her departure.

It’s official. Jisun says goodbye to Loveholic.

The woman who fronted successful rock band Loveholic since its inception five years was sent off with tears and best wishes by the band and fans in a farewell-and-thank-you concert on the 27th. (Actually, there are two final concerts; the second and last takes place tonight, the 28th.)

Jisun managed to hold back her tears all throughout the concert, but finally burst into tears when bassist Lee Jae Hak brought out a letter.

Initially, she explained that she hadn’t prepared any special comments: “I don’t want it to give this a special meaning. I’d like to just treat this performance like a regular conversation.” But as they performed more and more of the songs spanning Loveholic’s career, she said solemnly, “I’ve been able to sing some truly great songs.”

After their last song, Lee Jae Hak took out the letter he’d written at the time of their very first concert, saying while holding back tears with difficulty, “I’m happy I can send you off with smiles.”

Jisun said at the end, with tears falling: “While I was in Loveholic, I came into my voice. I don’t know where we’ll be able to meet again, but if we do, please accept me warmly.” At a fan’s shout for an encore, she performed the song that had opened the concert, their first single, “Loveholic.”

She ended with: “Today, I didn’t cry that much. Tomorrow, I’ll cry my heart out” and thanked her fans.

Singer Jisun is leaving popular rock band Loveholic to go solo!

The remaining two band members will be looking for a new vocalist as Jisun embarks on a solo career. The decision was made after careful deliberation by all parties involved, including producers and their label Fluxus Music.
