i was so excited JGS got casted in Korean version of Kimi wa Petto. Then got sad because there were no news about it for a while. Then got double excited because he was gonna star with MGY in a drama. Waiting for MMM to air was difficult, so I watched SKKS in the mean time. Never knew i would love SKKS this much!
now, i have no interest in other dramas. already downloaded MMM's first 2 epis, but only watched like 2 mins from each then hit the X button. everything pales after SKKS *sigh*

Good idea...and just focus on Jae Shin and Yongha. Micky probably will not be able to go back because he got a world tour. If that happens...I be jumping up and down and screaming like a loony. We need to start a petition...a youtube special ep.....so at least it will cure our SKKS withdrawal a little bit...
I have a feeling they couldn't extend the drama due to Micky's tight schedule. Although they were still filming he had to fly around Asia for the JYJ tour.....
too bad! 2 more episodes would have made the ending more satisfying.....

agreed. I thoguht it was strange at first, but I've grown to like it and find it romantic now. As far as cliches go though, I don't really care for the 'wrist grab'. I could do without it...unless someone makes a drama where a guy grabs a wrist and the whole arm comes off! zombie hong sister drama maybe?

The Piggy Back Ride is an adorable cliche, and yeah, it gets me. But I kinda like it when a person carries the other in the front, I don't know how to describe it, but it seems more romantic to me when they are cradled by the other person.
Been in Jalgeum Quartet withdrawal. Not sure what to watch now, so went back and watched some of my favorites. I always get such a warm feeling from watching Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang.
A good drama is like an old safety blanket you can crawl back into when the going gets tough, I think. SKK is gonna be that for me down the line, I'm sure, but right now, just waiting for the initial sadness that it's ended to die off.

Totally agree with that. Some of my favourites are Delightful Girl Chun Hyang, My Girl, My Name is Kim Sam Soon and You're Beautiful. SKKS is now on the list too, of course.
I think SKKS may just be my favourite drama of all time. And Gu Yong Ha is my favourite character too (Sorry Hwang Tae Kyung!) :D
I second that! I have re-watched MNKSS in its entirety and in pieces so many times I've lost count. I'm currently re-watching "which star are you from" because I LOVE the OTP chemistry there, they're both great actors. Coffee Prince and Delightful Girl are also frequently re-watched; I can't re-watch SKKS yet, even though I'm having withdrawals like an addict.
Soulmate is my ultimate safety blanket. Not only because it's amazing but because I was so obsessed with the drama and its ost during '07 and '08 that watching it transports me back to my final years of highschool. I can't listen to c'mon through without being nostalgic about catching a train half asleep at 7am on a cold morning or riding the bus home at night. Now that I've written this it totally seems like I'm talking about an ex-boyfriend or something. How lame.
As my twitter feed knows, I'm dog-sitting two Shelties this weekend, and they are ADORABLE. The Shelties are skittish but adorable, and pretty cuddly now that they've warmed up to me. I still have no idea how much I'm getting paid, but since this woman is my mom's old coworker and her regular dog-sitter bailed on her at the last minute (and it's not like I'm otherwise employed anyway), I don't really mind. (I described the idea of dog-sitting to my mother as "like college again, only with dogs.")
Anyway. Today, I'm going to start watching Conspiracy in the Court, which my everyone on my twitter feed has unanimously described as "awesomesauce." :3
They're adults.. One's a normal-sized Sheltie, albeit the poofiest one I've ever seen, while the other is really tall and slender, more like a mini-Collie than a Sheltie. They're darling. <3
Shelties are basically smaller versions of Collies, although I think their proportions are a little different. And no worries, there are a lot of dog breeds I can't identify. Took me a billion Animal Planet shows before I figured out what a pit bull looked like..
I do! I have a German Shepherd mix and a Tibetan Spaniel ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetan_Spaniel ). They're staying at home with my parents while I'm dog-sitting though. ^^
I have a Yorkshire terrier and a poodle-spitz. I would love to get a Siberian husky but the weather here isn't good for that breed.
I also want an West Highland terrier and a Scottish terrier (Scottish terriers look like grandfathers, somehow, so adorable)
Aww they're adorable. I have german shepherd mix too. Do they get along well? Mr hunterbear and I are dying to adopt this pitbull who is at the shelter. She's such a sweetheart. But we're a little concerned that the real hunterbear (my german shepherd) may be a little too possessive. Did you get them together?

I use a proxy server fairly often to make Japanese sites think I'm in Japan.
You do have to be kind of up on your tech and willing to fish around for a free one that will work, but it's doable. Or, you can pay for a really good proxy that will work. I pay an annual fee for a proxy here in the US that has yet to fail me. It will slow things down a little, so high speed internet is a must.
Depends on how desperate you are for your drama fix.
Google is really good for finding you a proxy server, too. (Just wanted to add that.) Also, if you can find a student around the ages of 14-17, they can get you connected. This has always been my no-fail plan whenever I want something on the internet and I can't get to it because of country blocks or privacy or safety settings.
Really sad that no drama is attracting me aftre SKKS. I am watching all my old dramas again. Tried to watch Mary but somehow is not really pushing me to watch . That love comes is the only other drama that is a little Ok , Now i have gotten down to writing silly fan fiction to relieve my self of boredom. How are all you guys doing??

I have been thinking about the plot of MSOAN and the only way I can currently see it having any plot to speak of that doesn't bore me to pieces, is if Mary ends up with Kim Jae Wook's character. The Mary/JGS couple is too easy. There is very little development to make that couple happen and then we have 10+ episodes of them fighting to be together against an entire cast. As cute as they are together and as much fun as I am having watching them be so freaking adorable it hurts, the plot and pacing will die like a rock! But watching Mary/KJW slowly build a life together around dramas or whatever other weird similarities they have would be quite interesting. Of course her make over at his hands and his make over for her. Both of them coming closer together not changing each other so much as excepting each other and truly falling in love as a married couple would be killer. All while we have this bohemian love god flitting around making the choice hard for her. Yeah that would be my perfect show development for this. Totally perfect. I would get all the cute couple plus the more REAL relationship based on love and respect.

No, I think that I got it, too. I like JGS's character so much better, but I don't see how it is going to be too much of a story if Maeri ends up with him. There isn't any personality conflict, besides the whole 'Oh, I'm too cool to settle down and live a responsible life for just one person' crap... which we all don't want to see in a drama 'cause it's a sucky plot.
Plus... the second lead is.... sigh. I want to mess up his hair.

but i agree that the plot of Mary would be very interesting if it works toward mary liking JaeWook's character- it has more room to develop, whereas with Jang Geun Suk it's too easy. they already like each other, and it would be boring if all that happened is that Jang Geun Suk's character decides to be less hippie. plus, maybe it's because it's only 2 episodes in, but the vibe between them seems more along the line of friends rather than potential interests. i can picture a change in how KJW becomes less cold, and they slowly develop feelings for each other as mary gets to know him and not just his "polite jerk" self.

I ALWAYS get second male lead syndrome, except for in Coffee Prince. I just don't think there was any issue there. But I'm always screaming for the reversal so the lead can end up with the second male. Is it too much for them to throw us a bone every once in a while?

I could barely get through Shining Inheritance without yelling at the screen "what are you thinking? go with the hotty restauranteur!" And don't get me started with SKKS! I think the only Kdrama I can name where the girl goes off into the sunset with the second lead is How to Meet a Perfect Neighbor and in that case I liked the first lead! So I am in desperate need vaccinating.

Memphis just got voted the ugliest city, with the ugliest and stupidest people... but we did win at Bar-B-Que (again)... so I suppose I appreciate a lot of places.
I know some people disagree with the ugly sentiment (every Justin Timberlake fan, ever) so I'm not too worried. And half of my professors at U of Memphis put the Southern accent on really thickly so that they could scare away the Yankees, so I'm not really surprised by the 'not intelligent' sentiment. But we do got a pretty ugly city. Hence, my admiration of other places in the South.
I had an odd dream last night. I dreamt Yeon Woo was still rejecting Ji Heon's adances in dr champ and then she suddenly she gets attracted to Go Bum ??? It was a very, very odd dream, but no one can deny his hotness (I certainley wouldn't!). I will have withdrawal symptons when Dr champ ends next week.
Anyway anyone else looking forward to Secret Garden? I can't wait and i wonder how hyun bin will act as trying to be a girl! :P

I read that series too. I love the moral ambiguity of the Dominion. Do you remember the statue of the blind slave boy? The description of it still haunts me. And let's not even mentions Isaldar and Avandar/ Jewel.
I have also read her Into the Dark Lands quartet. Omo, I think you will love this too. Be warned though, it goes to some pretty dark places, but, what were you always saying about evil being more interesting? ;)
And I am also reading her Cast in Shadow series. One word: Nightshade. My current I lub you. :)

Looks like nothing will ever soften Ko Bum's heart nor affect his hateful behavior. He doesn't seem to fear anybody nor authority or cuteness. Maybe deep down inside, he's attracted to Yoo Ri? lol
On the one hand I just so can't wait for Yeon Woo to plainly realize her attraction and feelings for Ji Heon. To see her initiate emotional or physical intimacy. And I so wanna see them hapy together, with cuteness galore.
On the other hand, I have litterally lost myself so much into this drama, that I'm afraid withdrawal symptoms will last several weeks.
Thus I am not looking forward much to Secret Garden, although ATHENA or Poseidon and Sign in which JGW has just been cast might help ease the sorrow. Maybe.

I'm having a strange relationship with Dr. Champ. For moments, I really hate it, but the guys there are so adorable and nice, and the vibe I get everytime I watch an episode is so positive that I can't help loving it. It confuses me a lot, it makes me angry, it's somewhat draggy, and I think it has lost some spark, however I still think very highly of it.
I hope we get a satisfactory ending, with loads of gold medals, smiles, cuteness and negative cancer tests.
Besides the part where you found that this drama has lost some spark, I agree 100% with you. :D ;)
As for the ending, writers, here is what I wish for:
- Sang Bong - Ji Heon bromance again;
- Sang Bong + sister-in-law + nephew cheering on Ji Heon for his Asian games finale game (maybe even Sang Bong liking the SIL? lol);
- unsick Yoo Ri winning a gold medal and being congratulated by Ko Bum, whom she'll eventually date;
- Ji Heon arranging his gold medal around Yeon Woo's neck who in exchange leans in for a kiss;
- and lots of hilarious scenes, with the judo team, Coach Oh and his assistant, the vice-president, the medical staff and Do Wook's unique sense of humor.
So Song Joong Ki needs to be the romantic lead in something soon.
As much as I love the bromance, the idea of him holding/touching/hugging me, I mean, a female lead, makes me so happy. It would be breathtaking to behold.
Of course, I would be happy to volunteer to be that actress...

I'd like for him to pair up with someone really cute...God, I'm so bad with names, but what about that girl who was the second female lead in MNIKSS (also in Gummy's 'As a Man' MV)? She's really cute. I like her, even when she was being awful. Or, of course, Park Shin Hye. Because she's also cute like heck.
Or scratch all that and just pair him up with Jae Shin again. Will gladly watch those two play chess or even polish shoes. Anything is fine as long as they're sharing the screen. :D

I'm possible going to Korea next year to study at Ehwa Women's University for a year. In order to prepare myself, I'd like to study some Korean by myself on beforehand. I already know how to read and write, and basic sentence structure, but that's it.
I was therefore wondering if anyone could recommend me a good Korean grammar book that starts from the basics.
I'd especially like a book that places a lot of importance on the difference between polite and impolite speech, as I know that can be tricky (I'm pretty fluent in Japanese so I have experience with the system).

LOL....last week when i was here and everyone was mourning over SKKS i felt alienated because i hadn't been watching because of those.damn exams that kept me ffor 4 weeks....but i'm so glad i went on hiatus cuz there is no way in hell that i could have handled the addiction that i have been going through for the last 2 days or the withdrawal i am going through right now....i had so much to say when i woke up this morning but all i can say now is that Micky yoochun better watch his back for the rabid fangirl in me is gonna stalk him like crazy....i'm not a kpop person but even so i've seen enough of DBSK to know the members and i never found him attractive...but .....ok i better not say anymore......except maybe that he should keep that beard for his next drama....i've always loved Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In so there's not much i'll say there....yesterday i was delirious from the excitement i could hardly eat or sleep!!!....I wonder how MSOAN is going for everyone...i think it'll be tough to adapt since it's right after SKKS..lol....now i want to catch up with all my other dramas but all i can think abt is the major rewatch i need to do..happy friday everyone!!!

I caught the first couple of eps.. It's cute, in a fluffy and silly way. Not a whole lot of meat to it yet, but I'm gonna give it another week or two before I decided whether or not to stop watching. ^^

Episode 14 mini-recap from a bad translator. Spoilers
Jini gives Kai the brush off after saving his life. She is finished with his lies and willingness to hurt anyone and do anything in the name of love. Kai says "i love you". Jini, "My loves over".
Rain calls his new Police buddy, Do Soo to let him know that if he wants to catch the gold and the baddies he needs to meet up at Meligdick's place.
Do Soo arrives first and the one subordinate that was traveling with him gets stabbed and dies on the way to turn in Meligdick and his crony at the the police station.
Ji Woo doesn't know what happened since Do Soo left his phone at Meligdick's house in a fight and start speculating about who's blood it is.
Jini makes a few calls and they piece together what is going on as Do Soo decides to leave the corrupted police force and go completely rogue with the gold.
Wire tapping Nakamura and Wong meet up after being forcibly ejected from JiWoo's in the Philippines. And JiWoo starts making a plan to bring down the badies using everybody and I mean most of the cast playing off each other.
After a sulk and a pout Do Soo goes hottie bad ass and also lands himself in the Philippines. Starts using some of his new found money to live the seriously good life. But sends the "shoes dollar" back to So Ran who apparently has also quit. He isn't running away from her. Touching :)
JiWoo Also heads with Jini to the Philippines to unleash his "hidden card". They get into a fake lovers fight to lure out the guy they need information from about where Do Soo is hiding, then get into a slapstick fight with this lesser character.
So Ran follows Do Soo to the Philippines to only to find he is living large with lots of girls and a nice place and suspects he really a bad guy now. Pulls a gun on him and they end up handcuffed on a romantic scooter ride through Manilla, with the promise of explaining things(the gold) to her. Do Soo takes her shopping next and further confesses how his mixed up feelings have been cleared up nowand he doesn't want to go anywhere with out her. Handcuffed they go back to his place to make dinner together still handcuffed while the wait staff is thinking all kinds of weird thought about his hobbies with women.
Jini and Ji Woo setup shop overlooking Do Soo and note the addition of handcuffs through their binoculars(this is getting really kinky). While everybody is discussing who is really happy and why, JiWoo hilariously pouts to Jini as the couple below start making out in a rather hot fashion.
Ji Woo carries sleeping Jini to bed and goes in for the sleeping cheek kiss..Credits.
cheek kiss? CHEEK KISS? I was looking for a good old fashioned tongue action there. Drats! Now my resolve to watch episode 14 without subs is all gone.
No kidding! Especially after the tongue action in MISA... you would think that Rain would be contractually obligated to kiss in every drama... ever... and in most public appearances... and whenever I get to see him in person.... oh, wait....
Do Soo and So Ran make out for like 5 minutes on screen and then end up in the sac together. While Rain and the other chick watch with binoculars. It is freaky enough without the Bi couple sucking face too.
when Do-soo took off with all the gold. How did that happen? I remember the thing with the car being handed off to him and I don't understand what happened. T_T
K, when Do Soo goes to Meligdick's place, the gold is in the bad guys trunk. By the time JiWoo gets there the trunk is empty and he sees a pile of blood on the ground. The gold was transferred by Do Soo into his silver car which he had shipped with him to the Philippines. At least that is what they are having us believe at the moment. Two hostile suspects in custody, a co-worker bleeding to death and "everybody wait a minute while I load up this 20 billion in gold"
Speaking of which, as a person who loves physics, the impossibleness of these cars being about to drag around that much gold without some kind of alteration is just silly. But If I wanted realistic I sooo would not be watching this show.
In the 27 years since I emigrated to the USA I have never felt how dire the situation feels in the economic front.
We are bombarded by the 24/7 news media about how our country is in the brink of financial collapse, and to be honest for some of us it really feels that way. Does a “good education” really matters at times like this? Or have we been mislead in to believing that getting a debt of at least 35 thousand dollars by the time the average college student graduates, that some how that in the future is going to be offset by the millions of dollars we are going to make once we graduate.
Most “Entrepreneurs” lack the background of a collage degree, but then again most college graduates end up running the businesses that the entrepreneurs created in the long run, but we know that that is not the case for the “mom and pop” shop's with less than @50 employees.
I only have an “Associates Degree” right know but the bulk of all the money that I have made so far has not been tied to my collage degree, I am a “Craftsmen” that has been working in the “Woodworking and Manufacturer Industry”, I have @ 20 years experience in this field, but honestly the catastrophic events that our economy has suffer in the last 3 years it will take at least the next 10 years for us to recovered.
So my advice for all the young people who are going to school right now will be this if I may be allowed; “Be sure that what ever area of higher education you have choose to pursue, at the end of the day it has “Real Life Applications,” it is hard for an employer to hire some one who's knowledge is just at an “Intellectual Level”, memorizing the top 30 philosophers of all time is not going to get you a job when the job description ask of you to have some coordinated manual skills.
I must say the collages have done a great disservice to our modern collage students by providing “diplomas' that in the long run will not really help them earn some serious “Cash.”
You may asked whats wrong with studying Philosophy, Woman Studies, Gender and Equality Studies, and all the “Liberal type of studies”, all those things are “Fine and Dandy” if one wants to pursue a Teaching Degree of sorts otherwise those kind of courses translates very poorly onto the Job Market.
I do not want to sound pessimistic, but due the situation where we are in unless we go back to a place where our work force is not only literate in the “Global Technological Grid” and start to produce more, Doctors, Architects, Chemical Engineers, etc,etc,etc, we will fall in the very near future to the rank of second or third rate nation.
Sorry but right now only “Dr Champ” is Rocking my Boat all other dramas are not appealing enough for me “Dr Champ Fighting”!!!!!

One last thing I found out that some Colleges here in the US and I mean some of the big ones, due to the implementation of "Affirmative Action", by default give "Asian Students" a -180 points to start when they applied to their collage. in my book that is completely wrong, and one of the most shame full forms of "Reverse Racism"!!!!!!!
When they say "Asian Students" - they usually mean foreign exchange asian students because here in the US, asians are not considered minorities.
Native Americans have are their own sovereignty within the US. They are legally/Constitutionally seperate from state & federal government laws - including affirmative action.
As for Arabics - don't you know: you're asian, you don't count:-P
I'm an American citizen, my family has served in the military for generations (including Code Talking in WWII), I have lived on and off Reservation, and we pay taxes when we have lived off Rez (which has been all of my adult life). Why shouldn't Affirmative Action apply to the people who are the poorest demographic in this country if Affirmative Action is indeed an effort to have minorities have equal opportunities?
Just wanted to let you know I agree with you. Not about the Dr. Champ thing, 'cause I also like MSOAN (it feels like they made a documentary about when I was younger) and Runaway (Okay, I like the actors), but the situation with colleges.
I would also like to point out that there is probably going to be rapid growth in the robotics industry, for people who are interested in that.
As I have a couple of liberal arts degrees , I can agree with your assessment of the real world requirements that necessitate a liberal arts degree... and as there aren't that many jobs, let me tell you how much money I'm not making. Please, for all of you who are thinking about getting a liberal arts degree--- learn a foreign language. It'll get you money. History degrees will not. I wish that I had gone to a technical school and learned something useful, like carpentry or auto mechanics so that I could get a job.
And Affirmative Action is such a blow. I asked for a Native American scholarship, and I was informed (please stop thinking so that the following information will make sense to you), "Native Americans do not constitute a large enough minority to qualify for minority scholarships." Whatever Affirmative Action, you can bite my red _____________.
I can relate to you about the minority thing... I'm arabic, and they still don't consider us a minority big enough? I just have to say.... REALLY? (in a very sarcastic disbelief sort of way)
There were quite a few people at my college who had degrees as useless as Medieval Renaissance studies, history, women's studies, and classics and still were able to go into money making jobs in the corporate world. But first of all 1. they knew how to use their liberal arts training to think out of the box to help real world companies solve problems and 2. they prepared for these professions during their free time and sought out summer internships for those professions. I guess if these things apply to you, then go ahead and get that english degree. Otherwise, I agree it is better to go with a major that has more direct real world applications.
My history degree was pretty useless because 1. i'm not very good at applying critical thinking outside of the classroom and 2. I spent my free time reading manga and watching dramas instead of reading Vault guides. Should have gone with computer science because I do have a little knack for it.
My consolation is that when I picked my college, I picked the one that offered me the most grants and scholarships so I didn't have to pay through the nose for my useless degree. I'm puzzled by those who are willing to pay $100,000 for an undergraduate degree,
I'm getting a master's degree now in something more useful, but i guess, still not as useful as business management.
I second that^^ My undergrad degree was a double major in Latin American Literature and Culture and Physical Anthropology and Material Culture... When I realized that all I would really be able to do with it was teach, serve under an archaeologist or starve... I decided that instead I would use my acquired knowledge about culture and provide healthcare that acknowledged the differences between culture and their view on the health-disease spectrum.
That's why, here I am in Mexico studying Medicine while coping with a small language barrier, because even though I speak and read it quite well being a Mexican-American it's not the same, I can't read as fast or comprehend as quickly as complete natives, so I often have to buy two books for the same subject, an english version and a spanish version... but it's fun and it's equally funny seeing people struggle with the Anthropology courses required for the degree since it's pretty basic stuff and I already went through it for undergrad stuff in college so it was a breeze...hehe....
So in conclusion, I decided to use my liberal arts degree as a background for a Medical education... only thing I'm regretting is not taking that bio-chem course during college because I'm such a loser at it >_< even though it's been three years since I moved to Mexico, homesickness is only now starting to set in... I talk to family through skype whenever I can, but it's not the same, when I go back for summer and christmas, I feel like a stranger at home, my room is being used for storage, my little sisters no longer need me, I feel like i'm superflous to the family dynamic sometimes, it's not even funny...

I miss Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Moon JaeShin and Gu YongHa!!!! I feel like I just broke up with my boyfriend, JaeShin. (actually, I've never had a boyfriend, so I'm not really sure but it must feel like this, right? all empty and yet I can't think of anything else....)
Anyways, I've started Mary Stayed Out All Night and I've been watching Runaway: Plan B, so I have something to distract me. Also, I've been keeping up with Playful Kiss on youtube. I love Runaway, it's very enjoyable to watch. It keeps me on my toes and laughing. did I mention that the OST is actually so good, I got it on my ipod? Playful Kiss wasn't really a smart story to begin with, but the youtube specials fall short of the actual drama. But I will watch until the end, because I want to know how it ends. As for Mary, I know Moon Geun Young is a good actress, so I look forward to seeing her make her cute caracter lovable yet complex. Jang Geun Suk was great in You're Beautiful, and Kim Jae Wook was great in Antique (I know he did Coffee Prince, but I never saw it). That is why I am watching that drama. Plus, I hope the writers have fun with the storyline and I just get a good feeling from the drama and the cast.
and Ackk! no Coffee Prince on this board is almost like holding up a banner for people to scream at you to go watch it. Seriously Go watch it! When you come back in 24 hours malnourished, sleep deprived and thanking us we will only smile and nod our heads knowingly. :)
ok.. coffee prince, i know so much hype about it, but it's with good reason. Out of all the kdramas i watched, it was one of the most mature love stories, also playing with possible gay issues, which is quite relevant in today's society. And Gong Yoo was completely uh-mazing!

second... for all SKKS watchers... i don't know if i missed a scene somewhere or what.. but when did the J4 all come to acknowledge YoonHee as a girl?! I mean, i know they all figured it out individually themselves but YoonHee only really came clean herself to SunJoon. But suddenly after the discovery of the GDJS when they're all drinking and celebrating, doesn't YongHa comment that YoonHee is the first girl who doesn't bore him? I'm not sure what the exact words used were, so I don't know if he said 'girl' or 'person', but she doesn't seem affected by his words. Basically I'm just wondering if there was a scene or a conversation that had the J3 all recognizing YoonHee as a girl or YoonHee coming clean with JaeShin and YongHa? Maybe it's just all inferred...
It was my understanding that YongHa was informed by InSoo's sister. He always kind of knew, but he didn't have a complete confirmation until she said something. He ran to Moony, 'cause he knew that Moony was in love with her and probably knew anyway. It was the moment of panic caused by YoonHee being in danger that made the three guys acknowledge it to each other, even though it had been an unspoken thing until that point.
It's kind of how like, when you're in a group of people, you all know that this one person is an idiot but you don't need to talk about it 'cause everyone just knows this, until you find out that that person might get hurt because someone left him alone with a pair of scissors or something and you all rush to go save him. (Or left him alone with that girl who can kick his rear, or that man who dresses up like a chick and you just know he's going to hit on her and say something insulting, or whatever the situation might be.)
'Course, I could have just misunderstood something, but this is how I interpreted it.
Ahh I never really thought about Hyo-Eun's conversation with YongHa as the 'confirmation', but it makes sense. I just saw it at face value - InSoo knowing something he shouldn't know and YoonHee consequently being in danger because of that knowledge.
I guess I just wish there was a scene where YoonHee faced the rest of the J3 and explained to them why she did what she did. I know she already did that with SunJoon, but I feel the others more than deserved an explanation as well. Just more closure with J4 as a whole would have been nice...
Essentially, it isn't until the king has Yoon Hee grabbed that they all acknowledge that they know she's a girl. Up until then, SJ and Yoon Hee are rather under the impression that they are the only students who know.
In Soo's sister tells Yong Ha that In Soo knows. For a sec there he's "um..." and then "oh, @#$" and runs off, gets Jae Shin, then they run over to her house where they run into Sun Joon. That's the point where they all know that....well, they all know and in front of Professor Jung they are all pleading for him to help her.
as for the Second Male Lead Syndrome... I'm not bothered by it. :) It saves me from pulling my hair from jealousy over the lead girl getting the lead guy. yes. I am that selfish! :)

as for the "untied ends"... I look at it in a way that it's fun that they left certain things for us to figure out (although it kind'a feels raw and rushed. definitely rushed.), because in a way, we somehow get to participate in the story. the bad side of this is that we have to replay scenes (sometimes in our heads) which only worsens the withdrawal symptoms.
Last night, I mean this morning, before going to bed. I watched Ohgonno buta ep4. Ahhhh, I'm starting to like this series very much. After SKKS, I was worried there was nothing to look forward to and really, it's not possible to compare Buta with SKKS. But in it's own ways, It's a lovely drama with 3 cute J boys, especially Okada Masaki kun of Otomen. He's so adorable. Ohizumi Yohu is alos very interesting.
So, for this fall season, if you are looking for J deama. I highly recommend this one.
I'm not missing SKKS - but I am missing Gu Yong Ha. I confess I fastfoward through the episodes until I see him - made the show much more tolerable.
Song Joong Ki is frakkin adorable! He must get a lead role soon! It wasn't until I saw Running Man with MC Yoo that I actually noticed him - even when Javabeans was squeeling over him in her recaps of 'Triple', I overlooked him. Now I'm busy looking for him everywhere!!! I had to re-read the 'Triple' recaps just for SJK, and find the episode of 'Will It Snow for Christmas' with him in it, and debating if I should watch OB/GYN. Does anyone know where I can find his movie, Hearty Paws 2 with subs???
I'm torn about MSOAN - I love KJW and can't bear to see him as the second lead, AGAIN! Not after having to speed-watch him through 'Bad Guy' and watching his scenes with a very stiff HGI. But it looks so good!

Does anyone have Korean satellite TV? If so, which one? I have dish satellite and I get KBS America on it, and most of the KBS shows start later than when it normally does in Korea (like the Fugitive and SKKS just started now..) I heard DirectTv has a Korean package (MBC, SBS, and a few other channels) and was wondering is anyone knows if it has English subs or not.
I am thinking about getting KBS World. When I read that KBS World is airing SKKS with subs I took a look at their website and they have quite a lot of day time soaps which are subbed in english and which normally aren't getting picked up by subbing groups because of the huge numbers of episodes. Plus Variety Shows are shown with english subs as well. But Satellite seems to be a bit complicated so I thought about streaming it on the internet. This is obviously possible after paying about 6 USD a month and downloading their player.
Is there anybody who can say something as the quality of their subs? Maybe even somebody tech savy who knows in which format the stream is? And is it possible to tape the drama streams? Or is there a licensing problem with that? Because normally you would be able to tape any show on TV as well... or will it even be possible to tape it when the Laptop is connected to the TV with regular DVD Recorder? Just thinking aloud, but if there is somebody, who knows some facts please answer to my ramblings.
I am watching Runaway Plan B on KBSWorldi.com Is this the same thing? I's $1/episode with subs. The quality of subs is decent, but it could be better. I think on the international version of KBS (on tv), the subs are more polished.
Where is this monthly subscription thing? I wouldn't mind paying $6 a month for a bigger variety of shows.
well, i was wondering about satellite internet tv as well, there is one that is a one time $50 fee and has channels from all over the world but i dont know about the quality of the subs or if I would be able to record. On KBS World, the subs r pretty decent, except for some typos here and there. I have been watching Happiness in the Wind, which is like 170 eps, and Am-addiction has it on their site, but the quality is not as good as the satellite tv i have. The only problem with satellite tv is that it's weather-sensitive, so if the weather is bad, there may be no picture or bad picture, sound, etc..
@may ...I'm also watching Happiness in The Wind and I know it's soon to be over but I'm almost ready to throw in the towel already ~ I'm so frustrated with it! Yowsa!
It's become such a headache of a show, the whole inertia of it all. I'm glad its almost over, but I have to watch it until the end bc I saw so much already, I'd feel like I didn't finish something. I have a feeling that they're gonna wrap it up all nice and sweet after all this headache! All in all though, I guess it's pretty ok for a daily show....

On another note, MSOAN is kinda.. just okay for me atm. JGS and MGY are super cute but the whole premise has yet to win me over. But still watching for the cute! hopefully it'll start to make more sense plot-wise in future episodes.. Also, I know it's been said a lot, but JGS is SO. RIDICULOUSLY. PRETTY. But as soon as he opens his mouth it's like whoa.. hello there. LOL his whole look kinda messes with my head.
Secret Garden....Don't know what to make of it. Would definitely watch it for the fab two leads if it wasn't for the really strange plot.. I mean, they really would be falling in love with themselves - idk how it could manage to be non-icky....May just read JB and GF's recaps before I decide on whether or not to watch it haha

I found MGY too shrill and annoying, and the storyline pretty stupid, but giving episode 2 a chance it was like Love. MGY toned down a bit and I actually thought her character was cute, and I can't wait for episode three as it will be fun to watch her being shared by both JGS and Jw :D I can't wait for the whole cat-fight to develop between JS and JW over her.

i miss Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
i was so excited JGS got casted in Korean version of Kimi wa Petto. Then got sad because there were no news about it for a while. Then got double excited because he was gonna star with MGY in a drama. Waiting for MMM to air was difficult, so I watched SKKS in the mean time. Never knew i would love SKKS this much!
now, i have no interest in other dramas. already downloaded MMM's first 2 epis, but only watched like 2 mins from each then hit the X button. everything pales after SKKS *sigh*

I have a feeling they couldn't extend the drama due to Micky's tight schedule. Although they were still filming he had to fly around Asia for the JYJ tour.....
too bad! 2 more episodes would have made the ending more satisfying.....
But this drama is a great start to his acting career.....
now we just have to wait for a spinoff for Yong Ha and Jae shin! =)

I was worried that Lee Min Ho might break his leg (he has a metal inserted because of injury) carrying the 2 female leads over and over again in BoF & Personal Taste. They are obviously not light compared to the skinny LMH.

Been in Jalgeum Quartet withdrawal. Not sure what to watch now, so went back and watched some of my favorites. I always get such a warm feeling from watching Delightful Girl Choon-Hyang.
A good drama is like an old safety blanket you can crawl back into when the going gets tough, I think. SKK is gonna be that for me down the line, I'm sure, but right now, just waiting for the initial sadness that it's ended to die off.

Totally agree with that. Some of my favourites are Delightful Girl Chun Hyang, My Girl, My Name is Kim Sam Soon and You're Beautiful. SKKS is now on the list too, of course.
I think SKKS may just be my favourite drama of all time. And Gu Yong Ha is my favourite character too (Sorry Hwang Tae Kyung!) :D

I second that! I have re-watched MNKSS in its entirety and in pieces so many times I've lost count. I'm currently re-watching "which star are you from" because I LOVE the OTP chemistry there, they're both great actors. Coffee Prince and Delightful Girl are also frequently re-watched; I can't re-watch SKKS yet, even though I'm having withdrawals like an addict.

Soulmate is my ultimate safety blanket. Not only because it's amazing but because I was so obsessed with the drama and its ost during '07 and '08 that watching it transports me back to my final years of highschool. I can't listen to c'mon through without being nostalgic about catching a train half asleep at 7am on a cold morning or riding the bus home at night. Now that I've written this it totally seems like I'm talking about an ex-boyfriend or something. How lame.

As my twitter feed knows, I'm dog-sitting two Shelties this weekend, and they are ADORABLE. The Shelties are skittish but adorable, and pretty cuddly now that they've warmed up to me. I still have no idea how much I'm getting paid, but since this woman is my mom's old coworker and her regular dog-sitter bailed on her at the last minute (and it's not like I'm otherwise employed anyway), I don't really mind. (I described the idea of dog-sitting to my mother as "like college again, only with dogs.")
Anyway. Today, I'm going to start watching Conspiracy in the Court, which my everyone on my twitter feed has unanimously described as "awesomesauce." :3

Shelties are basically smaller versions of Collies, although I think their proportions are a little different. And no worries, there are a lot of dog breeds I can't identify. Took me a billion Animal Planet shows before I figured out what a pit bull looked like..
I do! I have a German Shepherd mix and a Tibetan Spaniel ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tibetan_Spaniel ). They're staying at home with my parents while I'm dog-sitting though. ^^

Am I to assume that you can't watch Dramafever because it's giving you the "you aren't in the US or Canada" message?
Because if so....we haf ze wayz of making it think you are in the US.
2 choices really, VPN or proxy server.
I use a proxy server fairly often to make Japanese sites think I'm in Japan.
You do have to be kind of up on your tech and willing to fish around for a free one that will work, but it's doable. Or, you can pay for a really good proxy that will work. I pay an annual fee for a proxy here in the US that has yet to fail me. It will slow things down a little, so high speed internet is a must.
Depends on how desperate you are for your drama fix.

Google is really good for finding you a proxy server, too. (Just wanted to add that.) Also, if you can find a student around the ages of 14-17, they can get you connected. This has always been my no-fail plan whenever I want something on the internet and I can't get to it because of country blocks or privacy or safety settings.

I have been thinking about the plot of MSOAN and the only way I can currently see it having any plot to speak of that doesn't bore me to pieces, is if Mary ends up with Kim Jae Wook's character. The Mary/JGS couple is too easy. There is very little development to make that couple happen and then we have 10+ episodes of them fighting to be together against an entire cast. As cute as they are together and as much fun as I am having watching them be so freaking adorable it hurts, the plot and pacing will die like a rock! But watching Mary/KJW slowly build a life together around dramas or whatever other weird similarities they have would be quite interesting. Of course her make over at his hands and his make over for her. Both of them coming closer together not changing each other so much as excepting each other and truly falling in love as a married couple would be killer. All while we have this bohemian love god flitting around making the choice hard for her. Yeah that would be my perfect show development for this. Totally perfect. I would get all the cute couple plus the more REAL relationship based on love and respect.

There isn't any personality conflict, besides the whole 'Oh, I'm too cool to settle down and live a responsible life for just one person' crap... which we all don't want to see in a drama 'cause it's a sucky plot.

i don't have second male lead syndrome- except for JaeShin...
but i agree that the plot of Mary would be very interesting if it works toward mary liking JaeWook's character- it has more room to develop, whereas with Jang Geun Suk it's too easy. they already like each other, and it would be boring if all that happened is that Jang Geun Suk's character decides to be less hippie. plus, maybe it's because it's only 2 episodes in, but the vibe between them seems more along the line of friends rather than potential interests. i can picture a change in how KJW becomes less cold, and they slowly develop feelings for each other as mary gets to know him and not just his "polite jerk" self.

I ALWAYS get second male lead syndrome, except for in Coffee Prince. I just don't think there was any issue there. But I'm always screaming for the reversal so the lead can end up with the second male. Is it too much for them to throw us a bone every once in a while?

Yeah, just let me finish with my biochemistry degree and we can start our pharmaceutical empire and just watch the money roll in. If we could actually come up with a vaccine for Second Male Lead Syndrome we pretty much got the K drama market cornered.
Ohhh then we can expand into the the Team Jacob Twilighters, and the Guy of Gisbourne faction from Robin Hood (Richard Armitage..need I say more?) and ............. God, there are so so many second male leads with loyal fan base in almost every genre of fiction that we can take champagne showers pretty soon!

I could barely get through Shining Inheritance without yelling at the screen "what are you thinking? go with the hotty restauranteur!" And don't get me started with SKKS! I think the only Kdrama I can name where the girl goes off into the sunset with the second lead is How to Meet a Perfect Neighbor and in that case I liked the first lead! So I am in desperate need vaccinating.

Memphis just got voted the ugliest city, with the ugliest and stupidest people... but we did win at Bar-B-Que (again)... so I suppose I appreciate a lot of places.
I know some people disagree with the ugly sentiment (every Justin Timberlake fan, ever) so I'm not too worried. And half of my professors at U of Memphis put the Southern accent on really thickly so that they could scare away the Yankees, so I'm not really surprised by the 'not intelligent' sentiment. But we do got a pretty ugly city. Hence, my admiration of other places in the South.

I had an odd dream last night. I dreamt Yeon Woo was still rejecting Ji Heon's adances in dr champ and then she suddenly she gets attracted to Go Bum ??? It was a very, very odd dream, but no one can deny his hotness (I certainley wouldn't!). I will have withdrawal symptons when Dr champ ends next week.
Anyway anyone else looking forward to Secret Garden? I can't wait and i wonder how hyun bin will act as trying to be a girl! :P

I read that series too. I love the moral ambiguity of the Dominion. Do you remember the statue of the blind slave boy? The description of it still haunts me. And let's not even mentions Isaldar and Avandar/ Jewel.
I have also read her Into the Dark Lands quartet. Omo, I think you will love this too. Be warned though, it goes to some pretty dark places, but, what were you always saying about evil being more interesting? ;)
And I am also reading her Cast in Shadow series. One word: Nightshade. My current I lub you. :)

If Yeon Woo definitely rejects Ji Heon's advances, then I am willing to accept his. ^^
Looks like nothing will ever soften Ko Bum's heart nor affect his hateful behavior. He doesn't seem to fear anybody nor authority or cuteness. Maybe deep down inside, he's attracted to Yoo Ri? lol
On the one hand I just so can't wait for Yeon Woo to plainly realize her attraction and feelings for Ji Heon. To see her initiate emotional or physical intimacy. And I so wanna see them hapy together, with cuteness galore.
On the other hand, I have litterally lost myself so much into this drama, that I'm afraid withdrawal symptoms will last several weeks.
Thus I am not looking forward much to Secret Garden, although ATHENA or Poseidon and Sign in which JGW has just been cast might help ease the sorrow. Maybe.
Can't wait for Dr Champ recaps, again. Yes, kaedejun & aberdeen_angus, this is a completely non-subtle subliminal message. :D

I'm having a strange relationship with Dr. Champ. For moments, I really hate it, but the guys there are so adorable and nice, and the vibe I get everytime I watch an episode is so positive that I can't help loving it. It confuses me a lot, it makes me angry, it's somewhat draggy, and I think it has lost some spark, however I still think very highly of it.
I hope we get a satisfactory ending, with loads of gold medals, smiles, cuteness and negative cancer tests.

Besides the part where you found that this drama has lost some spark, I agree 100% with you. :D ;)
As for the ending, writers, here is what I wish for:
- Sang Bong - Ji Heon bromance again;
- Sang Bong + sister-in-law + nephew cheering on Ji Heon for his Asian games finale game (maybe even Sang Bong liking the SIL? lol);
- unsick Yoo Ri winning a gold medal and being congratulated by Ko Bum, whom she'll eventually date;
- Ji Heon arranging his gold medal around Yeon Woo's neck who in exchange leans in for a kiss;
- and lots of hilarious scenes, with the judo team, Coach Oh and his assistant, the vice-president, the medical staff and Do Wook's unique sense of humor.

That man looks adorable doing ANYTHING, whether it be twirling around in pastel-colored hanboks, stretches, or just drinking from a teacup. Do people around him just collapse from the cuteness all the time? (I would gladly suffer that affliction).
I'd like for him to pair up with someone really cute...God, I'm so bad with names, but what about that girl who was the second female lead in MNIKSS (also in Gummy's 'As a Man' MV)? She's really cute. I like her, even when she was being awful. Or, of course, Park Shin Hye. Because she's also cute like heck.
Or scratch all that and just pair him up with Jae Shin again. Will gladly watch those two play chess or even polish shoes. Anything is fine as long as they're sharing the screen. :D

Hi everyone! Little off-topic question here, but since it's an open thread....
I'm possible going to Korea next year to study at Ehwa Women's University for a year. In order to prepare myself, I'd like to study some Korean by myself on beforehand. I already know how to read and write, and basic sentence structure, but that's it.
I was therefore wondering if anyone could recommend me a good Korean grammar book that starts from the basics.
I'd especially like a book that places a lot of importance on the difference between polite and impolite speech, as I know that can be tricky (I'm pretty fluent in Japanese so I have experience with the system).
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I miss SKKS my friends! Most of all I miss the bromance(someone mentioned this in the ep 20 recap about how us girls seem to be liking the bromance more than the actual romance between our leads!! haha now that i think of it its strange no? but they did such a good job that we all cant help it kekeke) I filled the void this past week by watching tamra!!! omgs! so cuteeee that show! how did I not watch before!
I ve watched the first epi of MSOAN and read the recaps! It like a sugar high this show and I love the adorableness of the leads but i m still not buying the love connection( it still seems like a sibling kind of chemistry >:] ) but..
but i m happy to announce that I dont have the urge to go into my computer screen and chase JGS with a pair of scissors. The hair is kind of fitting for his character's carefree smiley nature..and hahaha it seems the show is aware of the fans reaction to the hair hence the daddy comment about him being a girl or a boy with that hair hehehe)

LOL....last week when i was here and everyone was mourning over SKKS i felt alienated because i hadn't been watching because of those.damn exams that kept me ffor 4 weeks....but i'm so glad i went on hiatus cuz there is no way in hell that i could have handled the addiction that i have been going through for the last 2 days or the withdrawal i am going through right now....i had so much to say when i woke up this morning but all i can say now is that Micky yoochun better watch his back for the rabid fangirl in me is gonna stalk him like crazy....i'm not a kpop person but even so i've seen enough of DBSK to know the members and i never found him attractive...but .....ok i better not say anymore......except maybe that he should keep that beard for his next drama....i've always loved Song Joong Ki and Yoo Ah In so there's not much i'll say there....yesterday i was delirious from the excitement i could hardly eat or sleep!!!....I wonder how MSOAN is going for everyone...i think it'll be tough to adapt since it's right after SKKS..lol....now i want to catch up with all my other dramas but all i can think abt is the major rewatch i need to do..happy friday everyone!!!

Rain calls his new Police buddy, Do Soo to let him know that if he wants to catch the gold and the baddies he needs to meet up at Meligdick's place.
Do Soo arrives first and the one subordinate that was traveling with him gets stabbed and dies on the way to turn in Meligdick and his crony at the the police station.
Ji Woo doesn't know what happened since Do Soo left his phone at Meligdick's house in a fight and start speculating about who's blood it is.
Jini makes a few calls and they piece together what is going on as Do Soo decides to leave the corrupted police force and go completely rogue with the gold.
Wire tapping Nakamura and Wong meet up after being forcibly ejected from JiWoo's in the Philippines. And JiWoo starts making a plan to bring down the badies using everybody and I mean most of the cast playing off each other.
After a sulk and a pout Do Soo goes hottie bad ass and also lands himself in the Philippines. Starts using some of his new found money to live the seriously good life. But sends the "shoes dollar" back to So Ran who apparently has also quit. He isn't running away from her. Touching :)
JiWoo Also heads with Jini to the Philippines to unleash his "hidden card". They get into a fake lovers fight to lure out the guy they need information from about where Do Soo is hiding, then get into a slapstick fight with this lesser character.
So Ran follows Do Soo to the Philippines to only to find he is living large with lots of girls and a nice place and suspects he really a bad guy now. Pulls a gun on him and they end up handcuffed on a romantic scooter ride through Manilla, with the promise of explaining things(the gold) to her. Do Soo takes her shopping next and further confesses how his mixed up feelings have been cleared up nowand he doesn't want to go anywhere with out her. Handcuffed they go back to his place to make dinner together still handcuffed while the wait staff is thinking all kinds of weird thought about his hobbies with women.
Jini and Ji Woo setup shop overlooking Do Soo and note the addition of handcuffs through their binoculars(this is getting really kinky). While everybody is discussing who is really happy and why, JiWoo hilariously pouts to Jini as the couple below start making out in a rather hot fashion.
Ji Woo carries sleeping Jini to bed and goes in for the sleeping cheek kiss..Credits.

K, when Do Soo goes to Meligdick's place, the gold is in the bad guys trunk. By the time JiWoo gets there the trunk is empty and he sees a pile of blood on the ground. The gold was transferred by Do Soo into his silver car which he had shipped with him to the Philippines. At least that is what they are having us believe at the moment. Two hostile suspects in custody, a co-worker bleeding to death and "everybody wait a minute while I load up this 20 billion in gold"
Speaking of which, as a person who loves physics, the impossibleness of these cars being about to drag around that much gold without some kind of alteration is just silly. But If I wanted realistic I sooo would not be watching this show.

*On The US Economy*
In the 27 years since I emigrated to the USA I have never felt how dire the situation feels in the economic front.
We are bombarded by the 24/7 news media about how our country is in the brink of financial collapse, and to be honest for some of us it really feels that way. Does a “good education” really matters at times like this? Or have we been mislead in to believing that getting a debt of at least 35 thousand dollars by the time the average college student graduates, that some how that in the future is going to be offset by the millions of dollars we are going to make once we graduate.
Most “Entrepreneurs” lack the background of a collage degree, but then again most college graduates end up running the businesses that the entrepreneurs created in the long run, but we know that that is not the case for the “mom and pop” shop's with less than @50 employees.
I only have an “Associates Degree” right know but the bulk of all the money that I have made so far has not been tied to my collage degree, I am a “Craftsmen” that has been working in the “Woodworking and Manufacturer Industry”, I have @ 20 years experience in this field, but honestly the catastrophic events that our economy has suffer in the last 3 years it will take at least the next 10 years for us to recovered.
So my advice for all the young people who are going to school right now will be this if I may be allowed; “Be sure that what ever area of higher education you have choose to pursue, at the end of the day it has “Real Life Applications,” it is hard for an employer to hire some one who's knowledge is just at an “Intellectual Level”, memorizing the top 30 philosophers of all time is not going to get you a job when the job description ask of you to have some coordinated manual skills.
I must say the collages have done a great disservice to our modern collage students by providing “diplomas' that in the long run will not really help them earn some serious “Cash.”
You may asked whats wrong with studying Philosophy, Woman Studies, Gender and Equality Studies, and all the “Liberal type of studies”, all those things are “Fine and Dandy” if one wants to pursue a Teaching Degree of sorts otherwise those kind of courses translates very poorly onto the Job Market.
I do not want to sound pessimistic, but due the situation where we are in unless we go back to a place where our work force is not only literate in the “Global Technological Grid” and start to produce more, Doctors, Architects, Chemical Engineers, etc,etc,etc, we will fall in the very near future to the rank of second or third rate nation.
Sorry but right now only “Dr Champ” is Rocking my Boat all other dramas are not appealing enough for me “Dr Champ Fighting”!!!!!

One last thing I found out that some Colleges here in the US and I mean some of the big ones, due to the implementation of "Affirmative Action", by default give "Asian Students" a -180 points to start when they applied to their collage. in my book that is completely wrong, and one of the most shame full forms of "Reverse Racism"!!!!!!!

When they say "Asian Students" - they usually mean foreign exchange asian students because here in the US, asians are not considered minorities.
Native Americans have are their own sovereignty within the US. They are legally/Constitutionally seperate from state & federal government laws - including affirmative action.
As for Arabics - don't you know: you're asian, you don't count:-P

I'm an American citizen, my family has served in the military for generations (including Code Talking in WWII), I have lived on and off Reservation, and we pay taxes when we have lived off Rez (which has been all of my adult life). Why shouldn't Affirmative Action apply to the people who are the poorest demographic in this country if Affirmative Action is indeed an effort to have minorities have equal opportunities?

Just wanted to let you know I agree with you. Not about the Dr. Champ thing, 'cause I also like MSOAN (it feels like they made a documentary about when I was younger) and Runaway (Okay, I like the actors), but the situation with colleges.
I would also like to point out that there is probably going to be rapid growth in the robotics industry, for people who are interested in that.
As I have a couple of liberal arts degrees , I can agree with your assessment of the real world requirements that necessitate a liberal arts degree... and as there aren't that many jobs, let me tell you how much money I'm not making. Please, for all of you who are thinking about getting a liberal arts degree--- learn a foreign language. It'll get you money. History degrees will not. I wish that I had gone to a technical school and learned something useful, like carpentry or auto mechanics so that I could get a job.
And Affirmative Action is such a blow. I asked for a Native American scholarship, and I was informed (please stop thinking so that the following information will make sense to you), "Native Americans do not constitute a large enough minority to qualify for minority scholarships." Whatever Affirmative Action, you can bite my red _____________.

There were quite a few people at my college who had degrees as useless as Medieval Renaissance studies, history, women's studies, and classics and still were able to go into money making jobs in the corporate world. But first of all 1. they knew how to use their liberal arts training to think out of the box to help real world companies solve problems and 2. they prepared for these professions during their free time and sought out summer internships for those professions. I guess if these things apply to you, then go ahead and get that english degree. Otherwise, I agree it is better to go with a major that has more direct real world applications.
My history degree was pretty useless because 1. i'm not very good at applying critical thinking outside of the classroom and 2. I spent my free time reading manga and watching dramas instead of reading Vault guides. Should have gone with computer science because I do have a little knack for it.
My consolation is that when I picked my college, I picked the one that offered me the most grants and scholarships so I didn't have to pay through the nose for my useless degree. I'm puzzled by those who are willing to pay $100,000 for an undergraduate degree,
I'm getting a master's degree now in something more useful, but i guess, still not as useful as business management.

I second that^^ My undergrad degree was a double major in Latin American Literature and Culture and Physical Anthropology and Material Culture... When I realized that all I would really be able to do with it was teach, serve under an archaeologist or starve... I decided that instead I would use my acquired knowledge about culture and provide healthcare that acknowledged the differences between culture and their view on the health-disease spectrum.
That's why, here I am in Mexico studying Medicine while coping with a small language barrier, because even though I speak and read it quite well being a Mexican-American it's not the same, I can't read as fast or comprehend as quickly as complete natives, so I often have to buy two books for the same subject, an english version and a spanish version... but it's fun and it's equally funny seeing people struggle with the Anthropology courses required for the degree since it's pretty basic stuff and I already went through it for undergrad stuff in college so it was a breeze...hehe....
So in conclusion, I decided to use my liberal arts degree as a background for a Medical education... only thing I'm regretting is not taking that bio-chem course during college because I'm such a loser at it >_< even though it's been three years since I moved to Mexico, homesickness is only now starting to set in... I talk to family through skype whenever I can, but it's not the same, when I go back for summer and christmas, I feel like a stranger at home, my room is being used for storage, my little sisters no longer need me, I feel like i'm superflous to the family dynamic sometimes, it's not even funny...

I miss Sungkyunkwan Scandal and Moon JaeShin and Gu YongHa!!!! I feel like I just broke up with my boyfriend, JaeShin. (actually, I've never had a boyfriend, so I'm not really sure but it must feel like this, right? all empty and yet I can't think of anything else....)
Anyways, I've started Mary Stayed Out All Night and I've been watching Runaway: Plan B, so I have something to distract me. Also, I've been keeping up with Playful Kiss on youtube. I love Runaway, it's very enjoyable to watch. It keeps me on my toes and laughing. did I mention that the OST is actually so good, I got it on my ipod? Playful Kiss wasn't really a smart story to begin with, but the youtube specials fall short of the actual drama. But I will watch until the end, because I want to know how it ends. As for Mary, I know Moon Geun Young is a good actress, so I look forward to seeing her make her cute caracter lovable yet complex. Jang Geun Suk was great in You're Beautiful, and Kim Jae Wook was great in Antique (I know he did Coffee Prince, but I never saw it). That is why I am watching that drama. Plus, I hope the writers have fun with the storyline and I just get a good feeling from the drama and the cast.

ok.. coffee prince, i know so much hype about it, but it's with good reason. Out of all the kdramas i watched, it was one of the most mature love stories, also playing with possible gay issues, which is quite relevant in today's society. And Gong Yoo was completely uh-mazing!

Nephew is fine, he has grown another inch so now he towers over me at 6' even. Also, Saturday was his birthday, so he's 14. You can be a very proud aunt.
For everyone else on OT: No, this does not mean that I will throw my beautiful red-headed Korean out to you ladies in OT, you have to wait a few more years (and he needs to take a couple of self-defense courses).

second... for all SKKS watchers... i don't know if i missed a scene somewhere or what.. but when did the J4 all come to acknowledge YoonHee as a girl?! I mean, i know they all figured it out individually themselves but YoonHee only really came clean herself to SunJoon. But suddenly after the discovery of the GDJS when they're all drinking and celebrating, doesn't YongHa comment that YoonHee is the first girl who doesn't bore him? I'm not sure what the exact words used were, so I don't know if he said 'girl' or 'person', but she doesn't seem affected by his words. Basically I'm just wondering if there was a scene or a conversation that had the J3 all recognizing YoonHee as a girl or YoonHee coming clean with JaeShin and YongHa? Maybe it's just all inferred...

It was my understanding that YongHa was informed by InSoo's sister. He always kind of knew, but he didn't have a complete confirmation until she said something. He ran to Moony, 'cause he knew that Moony was in love with her and probably knew anyway. It was the moment of panic caused by YoonHee being in danger that made the three guys acknowledge it to each other, even though it had been an unspoken thing until that point.
It's kind of how like, when you're in a group of people, you all know that this one person is an idiot but you don't need to talk about it 'cause everyone just knows this, until you find out that that person might get hurt because someone left him alone with a pair of scissors or something and you all rush to go save him. (Or left him alone with that girl who can kick his rear, or that man who dresses up like a chick and you just know he's going to hit on her and say something insulting, or whatever the situation might be.)
'Course, I could have just misunderstood something, but this is how I interpreted it.

Ahh I never really thought about Hyo-Eun's conversation with YongHa as the 'confirmation', but it makes sense. I just saw it at face value - InSoo knowing something he shouldn't know and YoonHee consequently being in danger because of that knowledge.
I guess I just wish there was a scene where YoonHee faced the rest of the J3 and explained to them why she did what she did. I know she already did that with SunJoon, but I feel the others more than deserved an explanation as well. Just more closure with J4 as a whole would have been nice...

Essentially, it isn't until the king has Yoon Hee grabbed that they all acknowledge that they know she's a girl. Up until then, SJ and Yoon Hee are rather under the impression that they are the only students who know.
In Soo's sister tells Yong Ha that In Soo knows. For a sec there he's "um..." and then "oh, @#$" and runs off, gets Jae Shin, then they run over to her house where they run into Sun Joon. That's the point where they all know that....well, they all know and in front of Professor Jung they are all pleading for him to help her.

as for the Second Male Lead Syndrome... I'm not bothered by it. :) It saves me from pulling my hair from jealousy over the lead girl getting the lead guy. yes. I am that selfish! :)
(and I don't mind having Yeorim in the picture with Moony, because... really, do I have to explain?)
as for the "untied ends"... I look at it in a way that it's fun that they left certain things for us to figure out (although it kind'a feels raw and rushed. definitely rushed.), because in a way, we somehow get to participate in the story. the bad side of this is that we have to replay scenes (sometimes in our heads) which only worsens the withdrawal symptoms.

Last night, I mean this morning, before going to bed. I watched Ohgonno buta ep4. Ahhhh, I'm starting to like this series very much. After SKKS, I was worried there was nothing to look forward to and really, it's not possible to compare Buta with SKKS. But in it's own ways, It's a lovely drama with 3 cute J boys, especially Okada Masaki kun of Otomen. He's so adorable. Ohizumi Yohu is alos very interesting.

I'm not missing SKKS - but I am missing Gu Yong Ha. I confess I fastfoward through the episodes until I see him - made the show much more tolerable.
Song Joong Ki is frakkin adorable! He must get a lead role soon! It wasn't until I saw Running Man with MC Yoo that I actually noticed him - even when Javabeans was squeeling over him in her recaps of 'Triple', I overlooked him. Now I'm busy looking for him everywhere!!! I had to re-read the 'Triple' recaps just for SJK, and find the episode of 'Will It Snow for Christmas' with him in it, and debating if I should watch OB/GYN. Does anyone know where I can find his movie, Hearty Paws 2 with subs???
I'm torn about MSOAN - I love KJW and can't bear to see him as the second lead, AGAIN! Not after having to speed-watch him through 'Bad Guy' and watching his scenes with a very stiff HGI. But it looks so good!
And help - anyone know where I can watch 'Golden Bride'? The links on mysoju are not working.

Does anyone have Korean satellite TV? If so, which one? I have dish satellite and I get KBS America on it, and most of the KBS shows start later than when it normally does in Korea (like the Fugitive and SKKS just started now..) I heard DirectTv has a Korean package (MBC, SBS, and a few other channels) and was wondering is anyone knows if it has English subs or not.

I am thinking about getting KBS World. When I read that KBS World is airing SKKS with subs I took a look at their website and they have quite a lot of day time soaps which are subbed in english and which normally aren't getting picked up by subbing groups because of the huge numbers of episodes. Plus Variety Shows are shown with english subs as well. But Satellite seems to be a bit complicated so I thought about streaming it on the internet. This is obviously possible after paying about 6 USD a month and downloading their player.
Is there anybody who can say something as the quality of their subs? Maybe even somebody tech savy who knows in which format the stream is? And is it possible to tape the drama streams? Or is there a licensing problem with that? Because normally you would be able to tape any show on TV as well... or will it even be possible to tape it when the Laptop is connected to the TV with regular DVD Recorder? Just thinking aloud, but if there is somebody, who knows some facts please answer to my ramblings.

I am watching Runaway Plan B on KBSWorldi.com Is this the same thing? I's $1/episode with subs. The quality of subs is decent, but it could be better. I think on the international version of KBS (on tv), the subs are more polished.
Where is this monthly subscription thing? I wouldn't mind paying $6 a month for a bigger variety of shows.

well, i was wondering about satellite internet tv as well, there is one that is a one time $50 fee and has channels from all over the world but i dont know about the quality of the subs or if I would be able to record. On KBS World, the subs r pretty decent, except for some typos here and there. I have been watching Happiness in the Wind, which is like 170 eps, and Am-addiction has it on their site, but the quality is not as good as the satellite tv i have. The only problem with satellite tv is that it's weather-sensitive, so if the weather is bad, there may be no picture or bad picture, sound, etc..

It's become such a headache of a show, the whole inertia of it all. I'm glad its almost over, but I have to watch it until the end bc I saw so much already, I'd feel like I didn't finish something. I have a feeling that they're gonna wrap it up all nice and sweet after all this headache! All in all though, I guess it's pretty ok for a daily show....

For those of you excited for Secret Garden tomorrow, forget the trailers which were all meh.
Check out the official MV for the first single, Baek Ji Young's "That Woman" which is already #1 on the DC MV charts.
A few of us have this song on repeat, it's so beautiful, and the MV finally screws with the slapstick and gives us a glimpse of the story.

And so our brainless prince...pauper.. dude what-have-you embarked on a journey. A journey to make sure he didn't at least lose his job for surely there are many, many children that need cash money. He has yet to meet the dumbass dwarves but surely it will be a good watch. Also fashionably speaking his boss was tie-bedazzled so lets say he's a magical fairy that sent our protagonist to Saengchori or something. Aaaannnnddd our story continues on next week...

Team Park Kyu!!!!!! Was too busy marathoning Tamra last weekend that I missed OT =P Am a total fan of Im Joo Hwan now, eagerly anticipating What's Up.
On another note, MSOAN is kinda.. just okay for me atm. JGS and MGY are super cute but the whole premise has yet to win me over. But still watching for the cute! hopefully it'll start to make more sense plot-wise in future episodes.. Also, I know it's been said a lot, but JGS is SO. RIDICULOUSLY. PRETTY. But as soon as he opens his mouth it's like whoa.. hello there. LOL his whole look kinda messes with my head.
Secret Garden....Don't know what to make of it. Would definitely watch it for the fab two leads if it wasn't for the really strange plot.. I mean, they really would be falling in love with themselves - idk how it could manage to be non-icky....May just read JB and GF's recaps before I decide on whether or not to watch it haha

---> I totally get what you mean. When I watched the first ep I thought "Why am I watching this crap." I found MGY too shrill and annoying, and the storyline pretty stupid, but giving episode 2 a chance it was like Love. MGY toned down a bit and I actually thought her character was cute, and I can't wait for episode three as it will be fun to watch her being shared by both JGS and Jw :D I can't wait for the whole cat-fight to develop between JS and JW over her.
