well all actors/actresses comes from being novices too. They don't produce them all experienced don't they? Give the drama a chance to show itself first and see if its all worth watching it.

cut the guy some slack. he's not the best actor out there, but he is good enough to be actually in a drama. Ha Ji Won also started as a singer and then transitioned into acting. also, he's the best singer-turned-actor in his generation, better than Yoochun or Rain, and much better than stone-faced Hyun Joong or Siwon or Taecyeon.

and it's not like Seunggi is a bad actor either. he was practically the highlight of Gumiho in its second half. if anything, Daewoong was the star of the show since we saw how his character progressed. people in the beginning were bashing Seunggi because he was overreacting, etc. but when Gumiho ended people were like, "can't imagine anyone else play Daewoong." same thing happened in Shining Inheritance.

Who is Jo Insung? I love Lee Seung Gi. His acting can be improved but I see great potential there. Looking forward to watching the drama though I confess I am not a HJW fan.

Wow ! This thread has become a battlefield ! I didn't know such a controversy existed about Lee Seung Gi. My two cents :
- I don't know him personally, so i won't judge him. And frankly, i don't care about the way actors lead their lives ( gossip is trash in my book ). What i judge is the performance delivered on my screen : So for this one, i will wait and see.
- Some commenters seem to forget where they are here : It's called Dramabeans. So we talk about dramas, acting, carreers and... Good looking people eventually :). I can be the worst for fangirling, but i always try to keep my sense of humour and my detachment. We are not their Managers or Public Relations employees. We are not here to score at the Olympics games. If you like an actor or actress, just say so and move on. Being an aggressive " fan " always leads to producing more anti-fans : See JGS and GHS posts for examples. It's counterproductive. You don't help your darling this way.
- Good manners are what make our human environment liveable. Ten lines written in caps IS impolite, may it be for ranting or raving : One of the first tacit laws you learn when you start posting on the net. And i'm a newbie at this.

Now that we have the character descriptions, i really don't want Seung Gi in this. Why does he keep picking those spoil brat roles! People will keep saying that he's done the same kind of roles. Evident by the last 3 dramas he had done.

I'm sure this will be a daebak drama of Lee Seung Gi together with Ha Jiwon ssi.. Lee Seung Gi maybe fake for the eyes of others but I, and many people believe in him.. I'm all for a new drama with Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi.
Sure, I feel his acting (in what I've seen so far) is a little shaky but gosh. He tries *so* hard so I give him gold stars for that ^^

Now, the straight up "HE SUCKS~!", in my honest opinion, is uncalled for. I will admit, albeit grudgingly (...sometimes...), that other people have different opinions to little ol' fangirl me. But, by saying that on such a public forum as this...that will arise tensions.

And Lee Seung Gi...there's a lot of people who will get very angry if you attack him. Let's not make it personal. He's human too, don't forget. I doubt anyone would say they are perfect so why should he be? He rises a lot in my book for staying away from all the scandals and in such a small country as Korea, that is *seriously* hard to do. Heck...even I have to be wary of what I do or it will filter back to Korea AND Australia...

So...chill out. Watch another drama and be happy ^.^

I've always been a big fan of Seung-gi mainly because of his heodangness in 1N2D. Have to admit that his acting is still not totally wonderful but he had plenty of great moments too and he's always improving. Plus Seung-gi's the kind who puts in 200% of his effort in whatever he does - he acknowledges the things he's not good at and always works very very hard in it (sometimes too hard I would say, like in Brilliant Legacy where he memorized not only his own lines but other characters' lines too, but seeing him work hard always motivates me to do my best in my studies). Thus I'm excited to see him acting alongside Ha Ji-won, who's an experienced, talented and charismatic actress. I believe he can learn a lot from his sunbaenim! ^^

And please Airens, stop attacking people who attack Seung-gi. I don't think it's good to gather more haters for Seung-gi. Those comments can be left "unreplied" and forgotten. The more you rebuke, the more attention you draw, the higher possibility of gaining a new hater for Seung-gi.

How will this cut into LSG's 1n2d schedule? I keep hoping that he will stay for next season.

Yeahh, agreeing with you, for a comedy King LSG may be most suitable for the role. No question why the director chose him. He can give us a good laugh by just looking at his face.

Especially after watching a good, romantic and full of good looking actors drama The Moon That Embraces The Sun, the production of the King wants us to look at LSG in the drama to know that it's impossible to have good looking, handsome, charming actors in every drama. That makes me deeply appreciate the production of Secret Garden, Sungkyunkwan Scandal.

Wow - what happened to this thread? I'm almost afraid to post in it - as I am not a real fan of either HJW or LSG - but I have seen almost all of HJW's works and 2 of LSG's dramas and a little of 1N2D. I respect HJW a lot - I do think that her acting is a cut above a lot of the others. From the 2 dramas that I saw LSG in, I could not really connect with his portrayal. Nothing bad on him... just didn't connect with him. But there have been many actors in which I saw them many times before and didn't connect until I saw them play one role and bam - connection :) So this could be it for LSG and me. LOL Drama viewing is a really personal thing and varies by viewer. I do think LSG has a lot of room for improvement in the acting dept, but he's still young. :) I do enjoy seeing him on IN2D though... he's good at variety.

The OTP is the least of my worries here - the premise sounds a lot like SMW in a way as GF has mentioned. Eeeks. I do hope that they handle it a lot better and that the script is a lot better here :)

Im so sorry 4 LSGs fans. But actually im lil bit dissapointed with the cast. I mean theres no doubt with Jiwon eonni, but LSG??? I dont said he was bad, i just hope that the king would be some A-lister actor. Like Cha Seung Won maybe??? I tot actor who'll play 'king', would be someone who could act serious, melo, but funny too. I hope LSG will work really really hard this time, bcos he will be compared with Jiwon eonnis acting skill.

Ach, poor Jiwon. I hope it will not turn into MGIG. i really love Jiwon's drama n movie. She always make such HQ project, just like Hwang Jini, SG, Closer To Heaven, n many more. But no matter this drama will be bad or no, im still HJWs biggest fan.

OMG, how come this thread has many negative. To sum up it may be one of reasons following or all:
- Noona/dongsaeng relationship which people tired of. Hehe, may be HJW will play a younger role, LSG will play a older role, this totally possible in drama, who knows? HJW doesn't look that old and LSG can be mature than his age plus codies and sylists will make them more suitable. With me, that's not the problem.
- The distance in acting wise. This can't deny but give a chance for young actor is a good thing, like LMH-SJJ in PT, KSH-HGI in TMTETS, PYC-HJM in RP, JGS-HJW in HJN,... Hm, wonder whether those previous pairs are taken so much negative like this pair *check my poor memory*, poor LSG! Ah, the funny thing is if male have more acting exp. than female, people are fine with that, if female have more acting exp. than male, negative appearssss LOL. HJW had right to deny if she didn't want to act with him, no one forced her, so 'cause she accepted, that means she somewhat believe in him, why fans can't believe her choice.
- Writing, honestly haven't watch BV, I can't prejudge, my exp. tells me the premises can't tell anything, some is very good but the drama is suck, some is not very interesting but turn out very successful. Let's wait and see. :)
- Couple. I understand if you want see JIS-HJW or CSW-HJW or else, I have my favorite too but if your dream come true, it's just 50/50 chance that works out. JIS-HJW have reached their perfect chemistry, could they overcome themselves, viewer will evaluate, compare them with the past, this is one of reasons Kdrama hardly have a couple meets again in a new drama, the others you like still not make sure 100% success. Now is too soon to say anything. And this not right to attach LSG even though how mad you are (I can see several here), come on, what did he do wrong, he's not the reason the other guys deny, because they are the people who DID deny, LSG has this chance.
- Competition. If it's wrong, I apologize but I think there are some fans of rival drama here. Can you trust your idol? Badmouth LSG doesn't make the high rating, rating is unpredictable and not a good base to evaluate a drama (in several case, it's accurate).
Not all I wanna say but these are main points. Can't agree, fine, move on, it's not like someone tie you and force you to watch. Good luck for the cast, staff and the drama.

Most of you must have a rough day. Comments can be good or bad but not "personal attack". Even though the casts are confirmed it doesn't meant it won't change (it is very common in K-entertainment business) Just wait and see. For those who are HJW supporters - you all know better she is not the type will take any roles. It applies the same to LSG, he won't take any "failure project". So please trust both of them.

I thought it was a completely different premise with engaged marriage... This sounds like Eric's drama except instead of being an actor, he is a king (pretty similar in the character department).

I don't like the pair, Love them individually but together ehh.and here I was waiting for LSG's comeback...

Come, take a deep breath, relax; The King hasn't even started yet. The premise of this story hasn't been fully unfold yet. And because Lee Seung Gi is now taking the lead as the King, I believe Hong Sisters are doing their best to adjust the storyline to fit him best. And to make both leads stand out. I believe in the capabilities of them as the writers - and this drama will not fail like SMW.

Just like the other Hong Sisters did with Best Love as they re-wrote the storyline to fit Cha Seung Won best when Lee Seung Gi decided not to take the lead role in this drama. And it worked really well, noone could played Dokko Jin like Cha Seung Won.

It's understandable if people are upset that Cha Seung Won, Jo In Sung or Lee Byeong Heon decided to drop this drama. I'm one of them. But hey, life goes on and they will definitely be back as soon as they meet with a great project. Lee Byeong Heon will be back in the movie with Han Hyo Joo.

From the perspective of Lee Seung Gi's fans, they've been waiting for his drama comeback and he mentioned several times that he would never do any drama project that he doesn't believe he could do it well. That's why he didn't do any drama last year. So he knows that "The King" is a great drama project for him and he'll give his 200% effort even though SBS has asked (I should say "forced") him to be MC for their newest variety show. So it looks like Seung Gi will be doing drama + Japan debut + SBS new variety show + Strong Heart at the same time. Noone wants to let him go, it's because the producers trust him & believe in his capabilities.

And from the perspective of Ha Ji Won's fans, they've been waiting for her drama comeback too since her successful SG with Hyun Bin. So I hope this will also be a great project for her come-back.

Seunggi does have a very big shoe to fill, people will compare him with JIS, HB - but I believe HJW & LSGi will make it work.

I think LSG is great but JIS would be PERRRRFECT with HJW!!!!!!!
