Emergency Couple gets one-episode extension

If you’re a fan of Emergency Couple, there’s good news coming your way: the show has confirmed that it’ll be extending the series by an episode, bringing the total count to 21. Well, it’s good news as long as they don’t add an episode of angst or useless conflict just to stretch the story, that is. The tvN series has been doing well in ratings, with recent episodes pulling in a 4% average. (They always seem to report Friday’s numbers since there’s less drama competition on that night, but anyway Episode 14 brought in average 4.2% with a 5.5% peak in the hour.)
The show actually ended up on an uneven airing schedule because it pre-empted itself, if you can believe that. Back when the production was falling behind quite early on in its run, they decided they couldn’t meet the broadcast deadline and opted not to air Episode 8 until the following week. That left the door open to either end on a Friday or extend, and given that extensions are usually the preferred method by the networks, it’s not a huge surprise that the show chose to go with one more episode.
Is anyone else worried about poor Song Ji-hyo’s health if they’re going to make her work another week? I know everyone does dramas and variety shows at the same time (because they’re crazypants), but sometimes I see her on Running Man and I’m scared she might break. At least she’s playing a ragged intern who’s not supposed to get any sleep? We’ll call it method acting. The things a girl’s gotta do to get hugs from Choi Jin-hyuk.
With the extension, Emergency Couple will end with Episode 21 on April 5, and serial killer thriller Gap-dong will follow on April 11.

Not surprised but I feel so bad for Ji Hyo :(
I was so glad that she wasn't in the first RM in Australia episode and that she got a lot of good food in episode 2! Girl needs to eat but most importantly sleep! Like girlfriday mentioned in her RM recap the flight from South Korea to Australia was probably the most sleep she could get in the last months.
At least there were no reports of her needing an IV drip!? I swear those reports always frighten me because that's just not healthy.

running man has upcoming 4 episodes recorded, the next filming will be 7 april.
the drama ends april 5, she will be fine till the end of the drama.

I'm never one to jump for joy over an extension. More times than not, it's just a filler episode.
I have also thought about SJH's schedule. Watching her run around all the time on RM exhausts me to begin with. I really hope these actors love what they do and aren't being pushed too much by their management company!

Yeah, I was kind of worried about her running around the crowded streets of Brisbane (I think it was) eating soup and macaroons to become complete earth. She DID look rather thin and frail, girlfriday.

I dont know about this extension...
at first i was really excited about the drama....but later it just fizzled out...may be because of the medical background for the romance.......
Just hope Song ji-hyo does not break on this hectic schedule....she is one of my favorite variety persona.....

Frankly, they need it because I am not buying Song Ji Hyo's character is anywhere close to getting back with her ex. Not that he's bad, but after hurting each other so much, I need to see much more than them just being a good medical duo together. Not to mention the mothers, don't even get me started. I would be happy if they just leave it open ended. Don't force it.
As an example I refused to watch the final episode of Oh la yuck Spouses after I heard the ending.

I agree. I think they fleshed that out well. Their chemistry really lies in working together. It's interesting to see that dynamic paired with the married couple who are interestingly enough succeeding with the work/life balance even though she's pregnant.

Agree. They haven't written anything yet that says she feels any romantic feelings for her ex. Everything she feels is for Dr. Gook. I think they might do a time jump. Like maybe after dating other people they somehow run into each other again and then leave it open with a possibility of a renewed romance. If they all of sudden make her have feels for her ex after everything that was said and done, I forever dump the writer(s).

I'm glad the drama's doing well, for the sake of both Choi Jin-hyuk (who needs to get the girl in a drama at last, he doesn't even get one when she married him and had his baby **coughDaddyHocough**) and Song Ji-hyo (who needs to sleep for about 100 hours straight after this ends).

Oh that's right, I almost forgot that CJH is one of those who could never get the girl. At first I'm one that would prefer for these two to just be besties in the end, but now you've mentioned this, maybe I'd like them to be together in the end…cause I'm irrational like that. Just like Kim Ji Seok…I'm still waiting for the day he gets the girl.

I loved *My Daughter The Flower* a lot caused CJH has the perfect characters here the best boyfriend, husband, father, brother & son in gorgeous styling every episodes *DROOL*...131 episode to be exact!!! Yes, he did gets the GIRL as well as in *It's Okay, Daddy's Girl* with Moon Chae Won!

CJH is so sexy and hot, and that voice...love it...more screen time for CJH I won't complaint. As for the show, I am a fan of main couple getting back together, even though I understand why some are hoping for chief and Jin Hee, I really would like to see CJH FINALLY getting his girl....b/c I seen too many of his characters losing out...and it's a TV show, I am ok with unrealistic ending...long as it's a happy ending because I have enough real drama in my life, I watch rom-coms to tune out from reality... I REALLY REALLY hope it's not going to be like Mi Rae's Choice, open ended because I am still recovering from that ending....and even the watered down ending of Prime Minister and I was disappointing...

If what I read from an online fan account of a groups of fans who visited Jihyo's filming set was correct, she slept for only two hours in five days! And apparently, the IV drip was indeed used by the cast.

2 hours in 5 days? No way. I can't live w/o at least 4 hours of sleep a day. If that's true, she really needs a month off from RM and dramas. But then you can't deny that although we all adore and love her, as an actress, she's still struggling in the industry (which is why she's working very hard). For instance, look at Suzy. That girl can't act yet she's able to get lead roles in the top 3 broadcasting stations. Look at Yoona and her SM connection. Then we have Kim Tae Hee and Han Ga In who can't act but still get offers b/c of their looks. And then there's that chick from "Age of Youth" who keeps on double-booking her dramas. I wish Ji Hyo the best in her career and I hope she'll score bigger leads in the top 3 broadcasting.

It's quite good for Cable network since it's paid network. It is new so it doesn't have a big viewership like public network such as KBS, SBS, and MBC. For example, in the United States, the public channel (public network that is available for free to the entire nation) includes PBS, ABC, NBC, etc. If you want HBO, Food Network, MTV, USA Network, History Channel, or other tv channels, those are cable and you have to pay for it. Likewise in S. Korea, the network that is hosting Emergency Couple is paid cable. The viewership is still small since it is a new thing. Why pay for cable when you can watch KBS, SBS, or MBC (those are the top 3 public networks). So, in cable, a 4% ratings is very good. Of course, to KBS, SBS, and MBC, that is very low.

i hate extensions, but at least it's only one.
and, no, i'm not buying that writer's bait that Jin Hee might end up with Dr. Gook, I've been burned with A1994 and Ohlala Couple. trust me, even if it might be ridiculous, Jin Hee is ending with Chang Min. I don't want to invest in any second lead anymore. hope they use the extension well to develop why they're ending back together. Recent episodes have slowly changed immature Chang Min and last night's episode suggests clearly to me that she's on her way back to Chang Min. hope we don't get any useless angst in the coming episodes.

hmm...the show is definitely one reason why she was excluded from most of the Running Man games in Australia. They probably couldn't fit it into her filming schedule which is good. I guess she probably got a good rest on the long flight as she looks not too bad at the Melbourne stop. Anyway, hope she gets a good rest after this drama!

Song Ji-hyo, she's hardworking, caring, confident, and doesn't care about her image. she's like the big sister every girl wants. it's sad to saw her coughed and slept during RM shooting and soooo sad to hear that she only sleep 2 hours in 5 days. that's crazy! I mean, just skip one episode in RM and sleep for a whole day. even Song Joong-ki choose to leave RM for his drama (Innocent Man) and his other activity. just don't overwork until collapse like 2 years ago :(

While it's reaching to the end of ep 20, I was like "no no what kind of ending is this?!! No pls pls what is this?!!". I kept going till it shows the next ep preview I was like " wow!!!! Seriously?! Ep 21?!!! Lmao( while sobbing laughing)"... im so happy yet sad of what I've seen on the 20th ep ending.
