Lee Seon-kyun considers movie comeback as bad cop in Wicked Police

Actor Lee Seon-kyun (Miss Korea) is considering a return to the big screen as the lead in the new action thriller Wicked Police. Wicked Police is the story of a bad cop who defies the vicious society he lives in. It’ll be directed by Lee Jung-beom, whose last smash hit was 2010’s Ajusshi, starring Won Bin. His 2014 feature No Tears for the Dead with Jang Dong-gun didn’t perform nearly as well, but he may have a another hit on his hands with this new project, financed by Warner Brothers.

This is the third Warner Brothers-financed Korean language film after VIP, directed by Park Hoon-jung. Kim Jee-woon’s Age of Shadows was Warner Brothers’ first venture into local language films and it recently premiered at the Venice International Film Festival.

Right now, Lee Seon-kyun is filming for the new JTBC Friday-Saturday drama This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair opposite Song Ji-hyo, where he plays a husband who finds out his wife is about to cheat on him and seeks advice on a Cheated Spouses Anonymous community forum. He’s still considering the new movie, but if he signs on, he’ll dive right into production for Wicked Police after the drama wraps, to play a completely different character from his jilted husband role.

Once casting is complete on Wicked Police, cameras will start rolling later this year for a 2017 release.

I'm glad he found time to squeeze in a drama in between his movie projects. :)

Yay! I am so happy that he seems to be getting more and more recognized as an actor that even a major production team like this is courting him. Hope he accepts. And looks like he is gravitating toward darker/more badass roles, A Hard Day, the Advocate, the noir film with Kim Hye Soo, and now this. Whatever happens to his romantic man image? Is he trying to shed that or what?

So that would make him a *good* bad cop, since he's fighting against vicious (= bad) society and all...?

O-kay. Guess a good good cop can't be as dashing. It's tough being cool. ;-)

Sigh. So do I. In fact your comment gave me an urge to rewatch Pasta last night. Such a cute drama, so perfect for multiple viewings. He and Gong Hyo Jin were so well matched.
