Name That Drama: Stolen keycards and professional eating

As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Wait, you can make a career out of eating? Sign me up!

Okay, just want to check if this sounds at all familiar… there is a girl who loves eating. She then makes a career our of it and ends up becoming more than or as rich as her boyfriend. All of the opposition to them being together stopped.

I remember her going on TV and demonstrating how she finds the best ingredients, and checks for freshness by eating. Followed by everyone being shocked at how much she’s eating. I can’t even recall if it’s a drama, manga, or manhwa. But if anyone recognizes this shout-out story, I’d be grateful.

  2. Why are drama mothers such awful people?

Hello! I’m hoping you can help me in remembering which drama this is.

It’s about a boy who was adopted when he was a kid. He was very happy and loving towards his adopted mother after being adopted, but then for some reason the mother returned him to the orphanage. I don’t know how long he stayed in the orphanage after that, before the mother came back for him and adopted him again. Although he was happy about being with the adopted mother again, he was very formal and respectful towards her the second time around. I watched this drama a few years back and at a time when I was binge watching kdramas, so I couldn’t remember which one this was. I don’t think I ever did finish watching it…

  3. Now this doesn’t sound familiar at all. Beanies, assemble!

Okay, the information I have is pretty limited, but I was going through a drama site for something to watch, and one thing I looked at was a high school drama about a girl with a lot of body hair and a boy with none.

They both get teased, start a friendship, and he shaves her body hair for her. Lol, I know! That’s why I initially passed this up, but now I really want to see it. Please help!

  4. I have a goldfish memory, so this isn’t ringing any bells either

I have re-watched just about every drama I remember watching and still cannot figure out where I watched this. The only thing I remember in the drama is that the female lead had her key card stolen at work which was used to either hack or break into some sensitive part of the company, making her the suspect. Eventually the boss finds out that she had been drunk and vandalizing the boss’s car (think it was red) during the time. I think she didn’t finish the graffiti and it really bothers him as he tries to guess what she trying to write…. PLEASE HELP!!! DRIVING ME INSANE!!!

  5. A wink is worth a thousand plot holes

I’m looking for a drama that has this specific story point between two male characters. From what I remember, Male A is characterized as being very out of the loop regarding social cues. Specifically, he didn’t know what the purpose of a wink is, and Male B had to explain it to him. Later on in the story, both are in a standoff with the main antagonist. It seemed as if Male B has betrayed Main A’s team and turned to the other side.

Both sides exchange barbs, but at the climax of the standoff, Male B gives Male A a wink. This clues Male A in to the fact that Male B still remains on their side, and then with this cue, they simultaneously turn on the antagonist. I thought this might have been from King 2 Hearts, but I couldn’t find it. Am I making this scene up or is there actually a drama that has this?

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

I couldn't really picture out the drama scene in my head but while reading the description for number 4, I somehow pictured Lee Min Jung as the one doing it so I'm pretty happy to see that it really is from Cunning Single Lady!

Yep! 100% Monstar. I watched that one when I was in my loving B2ST (still like them!) phase and Yong Jun-hyung adoration phase in specific. But what I got most out of this show was the amazing Kang Ha-neul <3.

Yes! When KHN sang I Will Always Love You, I melted. Plus he learned to play cello just for that role, so that when they filmed, all his fingerings and bowing were correct. Really amazing.

Yup. It's Monstar. Though it's the kind of overused trope about step-mother, I love the twist that they are not hostile toward each other.

Yep, 100% sure it's Monstar. Love that drama to bits (although the open ending left me somewhere with broken hearted). The very same drama which make me ship Seonwoo - Nana until now.

Definitely monstar for #2

Loved the show; the OST definitely. more than the storyline. I still have Kang HaNeul's rendition of Saram/Sarang on my playlist. The best!

I also have the one he sang on Runningman... footsteps by emerald castle by kang ha neul. the scene where jae suk and kwang soo try to singalong but gets reprimanded by everyone (because, hello, we wanna hear kang ha neul sing) is so funny!. simply uh - may - zing! \^_^/

#4 is "Cunning Single Lady" although on dramabeans it was recapped as "Sly and Single Again." The incident you mention is from episode 4, and here's the lovely recap:

#2: Monstar

The mother couldn't handle taking care of a young child, so she returned him but regretted it later and got him back. I remember this being one of the reasons why the main guy was cold and distant with his mother.

...Unfortunately, that's the only one I know. :/

He plays the main boys older brother. That's honestly the only reason I watched it, I was on a Shota spree haha The movie is really quirky and has some omg moments with the main boys obsession with body hair.

Probably need a list of "little on the strange side" J-movies.

I mean I just saw Girl in The Sunny Place. No spoilers but yeah strange! MatsuJun and Juri were charming in it though.

Did anyone watch the T.O.P/Juri drama? Was it good? I love Juri but no little about T.O.P.

Secret Message was a bit slow, but definitely sweet. If you're a TOP or Juri fan, I'd definitely recommend it!

Has a very solid supporting cast of Yoo Inna (my fave!!), Lee Jae-Yoon (and Jung Yoo-Mi). Kim Kang-Hyun reminds me a little of W's Su-bong in this!

#1 might be "Hot Blooded Woman" by Hwang Mi-ri. The scenario above reminds me of the manhwa's ending.

I agree. But the manwha has 24volumes, and the above twist only happens at the end so that his family can accept our lovely resident jiang. No drama made out of it according to wiki.

Required fields are marked *

Right. i think it was Hot blooded girl by hwang mi ri too.
Cause the husband (shin woo) was a smart and elite man, but he became a salary man while the girl became a ceo of something that related to food.

I read it more than five times so i remember exactly those scene. this manhwa is a verry fun and hillarious manhwa?

#5 sounds a lot like King 2 Hearts on the second paragraph. If I'm not mistaken the scene was from episode 19/20 where Eun Shi Kyung went undercover for Lee Jae Ha in order to gain more evidence against Kim Bong Du (the Villain). Eun Shi Kyung was a bit robotic because he was too honest for his own good and didn't understand social cues. Not sure about either character winking though...

Now that you described it, it really does sound like it's from King 2 Hearts. My memory's pretty fuzzy but I can definitely imagine the scene!

Required fields are marked *

#5 is really bugging me because I have this scene in my head of 2 male leads winking at one another and I can't place it in any show! Or maybe I just dreamt it up... And I didn't watch King 2 Hearts so it's not that...

Haha. Yeah maybe it was that! lol. But I wasn't the one who asked the original question so maybe there is another drama scene with it? I seem to have possibly seen it before too but it may just have been I Robot.

Yes I think it's definitely from I, Robot.

funnily enough, the #5 wink story point is also shared with the american film 'I, Robot' where a sentient robot let's the male lead know that he hasn't gone rogue by giving him a wink (a gesture said male lead taught him was a sign of friendship/trust)

About #1. I've recently seen a docu from Japan about a woman eating for others for a living. Seriously. People ordered her food and watched her while she ate it. I think it was some kind of fetish. And yeah, she was skinny. So professional eating is a thing.
