Opposites attract in teaser for Dal-li and Gamjatang

Park Kyu-young (The Devil Judge) and Kim Min-jae (Do You Like Brahms?) show off their very different charms in the new 30-second teaser for upcoming rom-com drama Dal-li and Gamjatang. Our heroine comes from old money and is the epitome of elegance, while our hero is a nouveau riche hothead who flaunts his wealth crassly.

In the teaser, art curator Dal-li (played by Park Kyu-young) hangs up a painting in her gallery. In her voiceover, she talks about Kim Min-jae’s character, saying, “It’s my first time seeing a person like that.” The text onscreen asks: “To Dal-li, uneducated means…?”

In the next cut, Kim Min-jae drinks in the scent of money as he flips through a stack of 50,000 won bills. He’s clearly money-centric, and pays no regard to his public image; we see him yelling into a crowd (likely loansharks, based on how they’re dressed) for his money.

Dal-li sits in a throne-like chair as she finishes her thought from earlier: “Someone so ignorant who only cares about money.” We then cut to Kim Min-jae shouting that her philosophy is crap. He goes on to ask, “Do you even know how many bowls of pork bone stew (gamjatang) that’s worth?”

Dal-li continues to explain her impressions of him: “His personality is so impatient.” We cut to Kim Min-jae throwing papers and yelling at people. A rage meter appears on screen showing his anger level maxing out.

In the next cut, Kim Min-jae confronts Dal-li: “I thought you didn’t have any friends…but a man?” We then see them together in the middle of a scuffle which concludes with a shot of Kim Min-jae extending a hand to Dal-li. “Until you’ve repaid your debt to me, you better not get hurt,” he tells her. On her throne again, Dal-li gives a shy smile as she completes her thoughts about Kim Min-jae: “For some reason, I didn’t not like him.”

KBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Dal-li and Gamjatang, directed by Lee Jung-seob (Healer, Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho) and written by Sohn Eun-hye (One Fine Day, Witch’s Love) and Park Se-eun, will begin airing on September 22.

I don't think a teaser has ever turned me off this quickly before.

Her hair is Unfortunate. I will still check it out, but that will be distracting.

The strands look like parasitic worms crawling out of or into her head.

Then even the tendrils should have been slicked down, it just doesn't look right. She is fighting the pretty was that hairstyle. It is just off, lol, to be fair that might be part of it.

Looking at the first picture, I thought the fangs of a cobra laying on her head…if you squint, you can see the head of the cobra looking like some matted hair.

I was so looking forward to this and Honey Lee's new drama, but somehow both teasers disappointed me...
Hope the actual dramas are good. (but yes, Park Kyu-young's hair will be distracting for sure...)

This seems like it could be fun… as long as they change Park Gyu-young’s hair. Those “strands” look awful, and I refuse to believe someone considered elegant would ever have her hair styled like that.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to tell the difference between Kim Min-jae and Yeo Jin-goo. I like them both, though.

KMJ has far more chemistry with his female costars than YJG ever has. YjG picks more interesting projects though.

New money vs old money could be a nice change of pace from the Cinderella/Candy constellation. They both seem somewhat insufferable, so there's room for growth. I like a bit of drop height in a drama - donne plus d'éclat à leur chute.

First couple of episode might be bit tough if both take a while to become relatable, but on the pro side, it's easier to see how they're evenly matched from the start.

This was the only drama I was truly looking forward too in September. The actress is cool and I liked her other works and KMJ is super talented so he rarely disappoints. However, what got me intrigued more than ANYTHING is the fact that we finally have a drama about 2 rich people ( old money vs new money). I am so sick of rich/poor like MINE and everything else that my eyes roll everytime I see it. Watching 2 rich people battle it out is WAY MORE FUN to watch on screen. For nothing else, I will watch for that alone because it seems fun.

Haha everyone is commenting on her hair, she is still pretty and the style is unique but I dont think it will take away from the drama. Personally, I cant wait. I def like KMJ character who doesnt have a formal education but guts, determination and a head for making money. It reminds me of the American tycoons of the Industrial age who were like that. Anywho, cant wait to see... seems like a fun drama.

I wasn't planning on watching this, and I don't find the teaser fabulous, but the posters are really fun, so there's a small chance I'll check it out.
