It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there is no denying that The Road: Tragedy of One has nailed its dark, juicy, and intriguing tone. If you haven’t been keeping up with the news around this drama, it stars Ji Jin-hee, which is a reason to watch in and of itself. But in case you need more reasons, it’s about power hungry ambition, tragedy, chaebol greed, desperate parents, and a whole lot of scheming. The fantastic Yoon Se-ah and Kim Hye-eun also star. The drama has a familiar feel to me for some reason, perhaps because it fits into that wonderful niche of dramas about middle-aged characters caught in a web of power, greed, and revenge. I’m thinking of dramas like Mine, Graceful Friends, and Secret Boutique — but I’m also excited to see what new intrigues this drama brings to the table.

I'm getting a little tired of these kinds of dramas and there are more on the way. I have to give it a try for Ji Jin-hee and Yoon Se-ah though. Maybe it will be a nice tight mystery/thriller at 12 episodes.

I'm also tired of this theme, partly because I feel like they often in the end just tell the same story over and over. But as you say, at 12 eps it may be tight and well done.

ICYMI, it was based on Japanese almost-same titled crime novel The Tragedy of One by famous Japanese crime/whodunit/mystery male writer Rintaro Norizuki.

Well, he is about to "retire voluntarily" from Hanmyeong Electronics, so I guess he has the time to hang out with Chun Ho-jin haha.

Haha actually he hung out with Ji Sung first, then with Chun Ho-jin.
It's still August, but The Road: The Tragedy of One is Ahn Nae-sang's 9th drama this year already (including cameo and Royal Secret Agent which started to air last year)
