Dramatic synopsis reading from the cast of JTBC’s Reborn Rich

Before giving us an actual look at the drama, JTBC is offering up a dramatized (or is that dramatic) synopsis reading by the main cast: Song Joong-ki, Shin Hyun-bin, and Lee Sung-min.

It’s shot beautifully, full of warm tones and Serious Acting, and makes me think perhaps the drama will be a little more artful than just straight melo… and now all I want to see is that exact thing: an artsy melo makjang high-budget cornucopia of drama.

The teaser opens with our three main characters — each on a beautiful set — reading from the Reborn Rich synopsis. The narration seamlessly transfers among the three actors as they read the following:

This story is about the revenge of a man who was born into a poor family and sacrificed his life to serve a chaebol family.
No, actually, it’s about the youngest son of that chaebol family who swallowed up the business with his greed.
The true colors of the chaebol.
The invisible war of inheritance.
Filthy bribery.
And a man who was reborn as a new person.
Is he controlled by vengeance, or is it just the selfish desires of human nature?
Is it a blessing to start a new life?
Or is it just another nightmare…

Oh boy, you can just squeeze the drama from the air like a sponge, and I’m loving every minute of it. My favorite Song Joong-ki drama has always been Nice Guy, so if this is the 2022 version of hand-wringing and revenge and bitter love, I’m so in.

Directed by PD Jung Dae-yoon (I’m Not a Robot, W-Two Worlds), with scripts by Kim Tae-hee (Designated Survivor: 60 Days, Sungkyunkwan Scandal) and Jang Eun-jae, Reborn Rich premieres on November 18, and will air in a new Friday-Saturday-Sunday sequence.

Love this! I've never seen anything quite like it before, but I love how dramatic everything is. The reading, changing to looking directly into the camera, the switching between actors. I need to watch again!

There is a new brand of dramas that have this quality feel to the cinematography I heard that Little women had it in abundance, the past story in Seasons of blossom has it and now a trailer. Please let this be a true reflection of the quality we will get to witness. I am loving the three episodes a week offer, I got used to it with some of the recent web dramas so it’s great that they will have it in a full length drama format too.

There was an abundance of 5-episodes-a-week during the late 2000s to early 2010s.

Yeah! 35 minutes runtime. That's almost 3 hours runtime. An equivalent of what Reborn Rich would he giving us in runtime.

Ok. She is a main cast. Worries down.
The editing is really good here. If this transcends into the actual drama then a lot is in store.

Just to remind us how important set design, colour choices and sound are in enhancing good acting. I hope the entire run lives up to this beautiful fragment.
ps - I hope the sound tracks are used sparingly and appropriately.

Song Joong Ki’s deep voice the first time he read it after 2 previous actors created the nuance but Lee Sung Min’s stare at the end of the clip that sold it to me.

so happy to see jongki back in a melodrama. nice guy was A RIDE but a really good one. him and moon chaewon still one of my all time favorite leading pair, still hoping I can see them working together again in the future.
