Kim Yoo-jung enlists Song Kang as her Demon bodyguard

A new teaser has arrived for SBS’s new fantasy My Demon, revealing our main pair’s fated first meeting when our chaebol heiress Kim Yoo-jung (Lovers of the Red Sky) somehow causes Song Kang’s (Forecasting Love and Weather) demon powers to disappear.

Opening in media res, Jung Gu-won (Song Kang) is sunk into the depths of the cold sea and who shall appear but Do Do-hee (Kim Yoo-jung). But when she grabs Gu-won’s hand, the cross tattoo on his wrist burns away and it curiously reappears on Do-hee’s wrist instead. Unaware of what happened, she thinks to herself, “I need to let go of this man in order for me to live. This is all because of his name, Gu-won [the Korean word for salvation or save].”

Once on land, an angry Gu-won wants to know what Do-hee did to him, claiming, “This [tattoo] may be on your wrist now, but this is supposed to be mine.” Appalled by his aggressiveness, Do-hee slaps Gu-won and calls him crazy, yelling back, “I rescued you from drowning and you’re demanding your tattoo back?!” In the intermittent text screens, we read: “A fate that one doesn’t want to lose,” and “an ill-fate that makes one lose their mind?!”

Flashing back to his past, Gu-won tries to introduce himself, but our heroine remains in disbelief: “You’re saying you’re a demon? Not even a Pokemon, you’re making me cringe. What’s a demon supposed to be?” Having expected her reaction, Gu-won wonders how humans never believe the first time they’re told.

It seems that the cross tattoo still allows Gu-won to use his powers, but only with Do-hee as his magic wand, and it’s unclear if this means she can wield the powers herself. Our leads are then transported atop a tower and a distressed Do-hee cries that she has a phobia of heights. When she demands to know Gu-won’s real identity, he replies, “You all call me the devil as well.”

But despite being a scary demon, the following text screens announce that the powerless demon becomes bodyguard to the human who slapped him. Do-hee volun-tells him for the job, adding that she’ll get the tattoo removed if he doesn’t agree. Gu-won is indignant that she dares threaten a demon, but our sassy heroine simply says, “I haven’t even started my threats yet.”

We then cut to our main pair in dance and the teaser closes on Gu-won asking Do-hee, “Is it that hard to take care of your own body? If you possess someone else’s precious item, you should act responsibly.”

With production led by PD Kim Jang-han (You Raise Me Up, Do You Like Brahms) and writer Choi Ah-il (Mr. Queen), SBS’s My Demon premieres on November 24, airing in the weekend slot following 7 Escape: War for Survival.

Hum...

I'm not sure the production of this drama. The PD did Do You Like Brahms that I loved but You Raise Me Up that I had to drop because the awful other characters. Even Yoo Shi-Yoon and his pink coping could make me continue it.

Mr Queen was very funny but the lack of adressing of the real Queen and the relationship between the leads at the end was a little bit disapointing.

I'm not a big fan of Song Kang.

So everything will rest on Kim Yoo-Jung whom I love :p

Magical tattoo on kdrama FL's skin, how daring!))) Aren't they complicating things too much tho? First contractual marriage, now a demonic contract (?) too and he's also her bodyguard (later promoted to fake hubby?). That's one messy relationship. Then again, if I was a chaebol heiress in the middle of bloody inheritance war, I'd prefer the groom with magical powers too. You know, just in case. And because no demon could be worse of a partner than a typical chaebol guy...

This is a lighter trailer than the first one, so I'm better able to recognize the "Mr. Queen" writer's touch here, which is a good thing. I'm still sortof distracted by the ethereal beauty of both leads which in aggregate seems a bit too fantastical and makes me wonder if I'm going to find it at all appealing to root for such otherworldly characters to be happy together. I do think Song Kang does best when he plays less stoic characters, and the glimpses of comedy here give me some hope.

It is on my watch list. The trailer makes it seem like just what we need after all the doom and gloom shows. I can totally see Kim Yoo-jung being sassy and smart to Song Kang's Gu-won character and maybe bringing him down a notch or two from his "esteemed" demon position!

Looks pretty cute!

I do feel like Song Kang gives off more Pokemon vibes than scary demon vibes though.

There is too much going on between this two very pretty individuals. A tattoo? Bodyguard? Contract marriage? But I really like Kim Yoo Jung so maybe I will watch this.

Ooh so he’s her bodyguard as well? Does this mean I can classify it as a bodyguard romance? Because that’s my other catnip besides contract relationships/marriages and they are sorely lacking in modern dramaland (to my never-ending sadness).

There’s already a LOT going on in the plot: demonic entities, chaebol infighting, fake marriages, bodyguard shenanigans, etc etc. I’m afraid of how they’ll juggle it all, but I do have some sliver of faith in the writer of Mr. Queen even if that script went to the dogs in the end. Maybe this will be redemption? Hopefully. i am so painfully trusting and naïve and only setting myself up for disappointment.

This looks promising and the writer of Mr. Queen nonetheless!

This teaser has me intrigued. They seem to be juggling too many balls:
- demon
- bodyguard
- fake husband
So can the PD juggle them all till the end?

I totally love Song Kang's ring. Any Beanie detectives want to enlighten me about the brand?
