  • Coupang Play has been in preparations as well, with the action-comedy Once Upon a Boyhood expected to release this November. The latest stills give us another look at our quirky four – Im Shi-wan (Summer Strike), Lee Sun-bin (Work Later, Drink Now 2), Lee Shi-woo (See You in My 19th Life), and Kang Hye-won (Seasons of Blossom) – who will be taking us through their school days in ye olde 1989. Written by Kim Jae-hwan, PD Lee Myung-woo (One Ordinary Day, The Fiery Priest) is at the helm. [Sports Donga]

  • Over on Netflix, the action-noir Mercy for None (previously Plaza Wars) announced a hefty ensemble cast with So Ji-sub (Doctor Lawyer), Heo Jun-ho (Bloodhounds), Ahn Gil-kang (Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938), and Lee Beom-soo (Private Lives). Joining them, we also have Gong Myung (Lovers of the Red Sky), Choo Young-woo (Oasis), and Jo Han-chul (Race) in addition to special guest appearances by Cha Seung-won (Our Blues) and Lee Jun-hyuk (Dark Hole). [News1]
  • Netflix has also been working on the webtoon adaptation Cashero, with offers currently out to Junho (King the Land), Kim Hyang-gi (Poon, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2), and Kim Hye-joon (Connect). In a story about an ordinary superhero who protects ordinary people, the action series is still in the early stages with PD Lee Chang-min (Agency) attached to direct. [Newsen]
  • In the mean time, the promos continue for MBC’s The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract and we finally get a peek at our second leads in the newest batch of stills. Starring Lee Se-young (The Law Cafe), Bae In-hyuk (Cheer Up), Joo Hyun-young (Behind Every Star), and Yoo Seon-ho (Under the Queen’s Umbrella), the fantasy rom-com is slated to air on November 24 in the weekend slot. Thank you; I was wondering where it would be available! I don't even know the premise but I've been wanting to see this actor. I was even tempted to watch Project Wolf Calling or whatever it's called but in the end, I just don't care enough haha.
Plus I've already seen a recap so I know the gist and it's not appealing enough to me though it probably would be interesting seeing him playing against type.

I want to watch Death’s Game, but I may have a moderate Ziggy trauma.

Lee Sung-min in a sageuk is nice. "Kundo: Age of the Rampant" (2014) was the only sageuk I've seen him in.

1. The plot is not exactly inspiring, but the cast is good enough to put it on my map.

2. But an even better cast is THIS. Just looking at the full list makes me dizzy with excitement! Looking forward to it.

3. Another sageuk, another pass.

4. Oooooooh. I have no clue what this is about, but it somehow looks right up my alley! I love Lee Sun-bin always. Definitely count me in here. I really hope it finds a decent international streaming service.

5. Not much interest for this one, sadly.

6. More superheroes, huh? Do I detect a new trend in dramaland?

7. SO excited for this one! I didn’t realize it was set to release so late in November, and now I’m sad that I have to wait almost a whole month for it. 😭 Give me our fish-out-of-water girl’s modern-day antics already!!!!

Lee Se Young and Bae In Hyuk's drama is what interests me most among the dramas mentioned here.

Another Lee Seong Gye and Lee Bang Won drama with focus on his wife Won Kyung. This reminds me that I have yet to finish SFD.

I had the opposite reaction! Gimme. Gimme. 🤣 Revenant raised my expectations for Korean supernatural thrillers. Probably foolish of me...

Already Kidnapping Day is out of my comfort zone... 🫣
(I'm watching for the main duo, of course.)

I just saw Mother Bean’s comment above. 80% darkness and violence is a lot.

Hopefully, someone else who knows the webtoon will give their view as they are highly likely to give different percentage ratings to me as anyone who knows me knows I am super sensitive. I couldn't get past the first few minutes of The Kidnapping day so @dorotka is already doing better than me.

@reply1988 sometimes it helps when I speed up... and mute...
But it very much depends on the show (and my mood). I think if it were not for the awesome dynamic between Rohee and Myungjoon, I would have dropped Kidnapping Day. (KD generally is not too thrillerly/gruesome, so far. I liked Watcher, for example, but it was too cruel for me and I just couldn't continue after the first episodes.)

I’m also a huuuuge scaredy-cat but that striking poster, SIG and the cute Park So Dam? How can i resist?
Plus, I think I’m ready for some violence (I’ll watch through my fingers🙈) after the writer and director chickened out towards the end of 100 Million Stars From The Sky (AKA The Smile Has Left Your Eyes).

Same Indy! Along with Park So-dam AND SIG, that sounds like a powerhouse combo, I can't wait!!

Once upon a boyhood sounds like it could be a fun watch like the coming of age film Start up that had violent elements but also a found family and some funny moments.
Death’s game I am tempted to dip in and out with fast forward through the violence and darkness which made up 80% of the webtoon. It did have some interesting and funny elements that I want to see on screen and I am intrigued to see the changes they make in this adaption.

I'm tempted by the cast and PD, but 80% is o lot... 😬
I may attempt your strategy... or wait first for Beanies reactions.

I have looked at many mangas before, either because of ravings or because of a drama adaptation. None have ever captured me like Cashero. I forced myself to stop reading because I hate comparing with the future drama, especially if it will have Junho.
But the plot, the characters, and the style of the storytelling was so gripping that I think I fell in love immediately.

1) I'm not really interested in it but I like the casting.

2) I like the poster with Park So-dam stepping over Seo In-gook. If I'm happy with the other actors, I'm less with the fact they will act the same role as Seo In-Guk. I want more SIG on my screen!

3) A TVN sageuk? I'm sure Lee Seung-Min will be great as a King. It looks like he will be more cruel than in Kings 2 Hearts :p

4) The choice of actors is quite weird between the leads being around 30 years old and Kang Hye-won being a very bad actress (or singer and worst as a rapper). A lof of Kdramas are playing the nostalgic card lastly.

5) So Ji-Sub is back! The cast is pretty good. But where are the actrices?

6) Ordinary superheroes? Is it an oxymore?

7) Sometimes (or everytime), I would like they don't start their promotion so soon. I feel like I'm waiting for this drama since so many Months now 😅

The posters and descriptions for ‘Vigilante’ are doing nothing to draw me in, so boring. But the cast, man. That is one fine cast, pretty puppy Nam Joo Hyuk, brooding quiet-intensity Lee Jun Hyuk (who stubbornly refuses to give us our romance fix despite possessing all the qualifications in spades😩😩) and Smexy ajusshi Yoo Ji Tae is there. How can one refuse?

I hope Vigilante is good! And I'm curious about Death Game solely because Seo In Guk is in it.

1. So unbelievably generic. They couldn't bother putting some effort in the promos for a cast this interesting?

2. The literal opposite of the former. Incredible cast and incredible poster. I am in awe of the dark and atmospheric feeling it invokes. I cannot wait.

3. Not so sure if Cha Joo-young has the acting chops to pull off a role as complex as Queen Won-kyung, but I hope she proves me wrong! Yet more Lee Bang-won casting news just reminds me of Yoo Ah-in now and that makes me upset. If only he had gotten the chance to Jang Hyuk his way to playing the king twice.

4. Casting a group of late-twenties/thirty somethings as a gang of high schoolers is a weird choice. I'm certain Im Si-wan will eat this role like he does with every other role, but that doesn't not make this a strange choice.

5. And not a single woman in that ensemble. Pass.

6. The plot synopsis still makes me crack up. I guess Junho is an "ordinary" superhero because... he gets more powerful the richer he gets? Well, yeah. That's just the real world. Either way, I'm not passing up a collaboration between Junho and two actresses I love, even if the drama is goofy.

7. Ahhhhh, when will November 24 come????

I'm looking forward to any of the "dark and gritty" type of shows that have little to no romance. Like I'm curious about A Bloody [Lovely] Day though I kinda get the feeling it might end up like The Worst of Evil. Hmmm.

I wish I could experience watching The Kidnapping Day as a newbie haha

I think because dating & relationships are such a big thing in kdramas, finding shows where that's not a focus feels like almost finding a unicorn for me.

1. Low-key interested.

2. WOW! 👏 I love both leads. Cannot wait for them to bring their A-game to this.

3. Not to confident about the FL. Rest of the cast is top notch.

4. Looks like a "Pass".

5. Worst of Evil is more than enough "action noir" for the next couple of years, thank you very much. "Pass".

6. Junho the Man can make me start a drama but only the drama can hold me till the end. Wait and watch policy.

7. Kol! I'm in. Loved the teaser almost as much as I love choco-pie.
