Kim Haneul is framed for murder in Grabbed by the Collar

It’s looking quite grim in the first teaser for KBS’s mystery-thriller Grabbed by the Collar, where the stakes are rising along with my blood pressure as our justice-seeking heroine Kim Haneul (Kill Heel) becomes the prime suspect on a high-profile murder case.

It certainly doesn’t help to be greeted by foreboding music and an eerily grinned Yoon Je-moon (High Cookie) as we begin the trailer. But our Seo Jung-won (Kim Haneul) has a backbone of steel and isn’t intimidated by this unpleasant surprise. She thus continues with her news segment as planned – also titled Grabbed by the Collar – and the captions explain that Jung-won is a journalist who calls out corrupted individuals.

However, this means that Jung-won has made enemies with some powerful people, and we follow her in the teaser as she finds herself in incriminating circumstances. As she and her husband Jang Seung-jo (Death’s Game) are hounded by the press, Jung-won defends herself in voiceover that, “Someone has manipulated the evidence and framed me as the culprit.”

However, police detective and ex-boyfriend Yeon Woo-jin (Daily Dose of Sunshine) is unsure what to believe, telling Jung-won, “I can’t help but continue to be suspicious of you because you did lie.” We then watch as Seol Woo-jae (Jang Seung-jo) is brought in for questioning as well, and the teaser comes to a close as Kim Tae-heon (Yeon Woo-jin) does some kind of swab test on Woo-jae.

Production for the web novel adaptation has co-directing by PD Lee Ho and PD Lee Hyun-kyung, with Bae Soo-young penning the scripts. Airing in the Monday-Tuesday slot following Love Song for Illusion, KBS’s Grabbed by the Collar will be premiering on March 18.

I have such a soft big spot for Kim Ha-neul ever since seeing her charming performance in The Gentleman’s Dignity. Not sure if she fits these kinds of roles as I haven’t seen any of her recent non-comedy dramas.

This strikes me as one of those "everyone is a suspect" type of shows. If well done, this could be interesting!

^^ Exactly that. The teaser is really upping the ante. So wait and watch for now. 😊

Oh wow...an adaptation from an old-fashioned novel!! I wonder if it'll still be shot webtoon-style though, with lots of centered, solo faces looking directly into the camera and skewed camera angles suggesting the diagonal framing of two concurrent actions...

I love your "camera angle" viewing of dramas. You're making me anticipate the gifs already! 🥰

O/T @attiton. I just discovered that Liu Yu Ning’s 24 episode ETERNAL BROTHERHOOD was sprung on iQIYI today (6 episodes available). Reports are that filming was completed in 2021. I will check out the early episodes.

I am afraid COLLAR may not see the legal light of day in the US.

On my watchlist because of Yeon Woo-jin, but. . . . . dropped Kill Heel because of Kim Haneul. So. . . won't drop from the watchlist, but on the face of it, the synopsis appears. . . bat-shit stupid.

Been indulging myself with too much sweetness and romance since October 2023 and because Queen of Tears is one out of two romcoms I intend to watch this year, I think I will watch this one as I love Kim Ha Neul and Yeon Woo Jin.

The synopsis sounds exactly like Misty, but this time, the husband is a chaebol X writer and not a failed public defender ....

Repeating myself, COLLAR will be the drama by adults for adults.

KBS continues to be cute in keeping US viewers in suspense as to availability.
