Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

Brace yourselves, because it’s time for the angst that’s been steadily building on the horizon to crash in like a tidal wave. An unexpected (and unwelcome) arrival introduces yet another obstacle for our heroine — but before that, there’s a satisfying wedding disaster in store.

EPISODES 11-12

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

Wrapped up in each other, our time-traveling couple kiss, passionate and tender. Then the reality of Ji-hyuk’s impending death hits him, and he regains his senses, pulling away. “You’ll regret this,” Ji-hyuk tells Ji-won, believing that he won’t be able to give her true happiness when he’s dying in a decade. Then he steers her outside, steeling himself to shut the door in her stricken face.

The next day, Ji-hyuk calls in sick. After work, Ji-won knocks on his door with a thermos flask of homemade porridge, but there’s no response. Worried, she decides to go inside — using the passcode he’d given her so she could visit Pang the cat — and finds him barely conscious and burning up.

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

Delirious from the fever, Ji-hyuk rambles (in banmal!) about how he hopes she no longer feels like she’s on an unstable boat. The words remind Ji-won of that drunken college night, and it dawns on her that Ji-hyuk’s wanted to be her solid land ever since. Deeply moved, she reaches out to him with tears welling up in her eyes. Okay, that reveal was a little convenient, but it cleared up their separation angst quickly so I’m not exactly complaining.

A kiss and a night of nursing Ji-hyuk back to health later, Ji-won is ready to take the leap with him, even if they end up regretting it later on. She can’t help but wonder if this is the reason she’s been given a second chance — to learn how to trust, love, and be happy again. Her epiphany finally breaks down Ji-hyuk’s last line of defense, and thus begins their secret romance. Sharing meaningful glances and exchanging bashful smiles at work, our couple’s week culminates in a romantic pier date with another tender kiss.

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

When Soo-min sends Ji-won a wedding invitation, Ji-hyuk decides to indulge his petty side by informing the whole office. The best part? Not only does Seok-joon go along with Ji-hyuk’s antics, but he also posts the official announcement himself. Ha, Seok-joon’s totally enjoying stirring the pot, isn’t he?

Meanwhile, Min-hwan and Soo-min’s path to marriage is already off to a deceitful start, with both liars weaving fake backstories to elevate themselves in front of Min-hwan’s mom. Bulldozer Mom-in-law micromanages and penny-pinches every last detail of the wedding, much to Soo-min’s exasperation. Still, Soo-min goes along with her demands, because at this point her pride hinges on the wedding, her future family, and the fact that she’s one-upped Ji-won (or so she thinks).

Soo-min’s about to get a rude awakening, though. Clad in the frumpy wedding dress of the previous timeline, Soo-min’s utterly outshined by Ji-won’s sharp and stylish all-white ensemble, topped off with a dazzling necklace from Ji-hyuk. Approaching Soo-min in the waiting room, Ji-won congratulates her on picking up the trash she’s discarded. That’s not all, because Ji-won brought a congratulatory gift — a civil complaint suing Min-hwan for the money he owes her.

Mom-in-law also has a shock waiting in the wings, because Ji-won’s former bullies crash the ceremony, determined to get even with Soo-min for fooling them all throughout high school. Airing the dirty laundry of Min-hwan and Soo-min’s infidelity to all their wedding guests, they cause a much-deserved scene, complete with thick Busan accents and hilarious innuendos to scandalize Mom-in-law.

Married life isn’t as rosy as Soo-min envisioned, given that she now has to deal with Min-hwan’s temper tantrums and Mom-in-law’s bossy reproaching. Unlike the meek Ji-won, though, Soo-min won’t let herself be steamrolled into submission. She argues back when Mom-in-law picks on her, and even lies about a miscarriage that she blames on one of Min-hwan’s violent outbursts. Yikes, this newly-minted family is well on its way to an implosion.

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

Shifting focus back to Ji-won, it’s time for the most dreadful plot development of the week — the arrival of Ji-hyuk’s childhood friend and ex-fiancée OH YOO-RA (BoA). She’s derisively amused by Ji-won’s rags-to-riches fairytale, and her pride has brought her back to stake claim on Ji-hyuk (for all that it was a strategic engagement).

Blindsided by Yoo-ra’s existence, Ji-won retreats back into her shell. She unilaterally distances herself from Ji-hyuk, fearing that he’d ditched Yoo-ra for her — just like how her mom had abandoned her dad for a new love, and Min-hwan had betrayed her for Soo-min. With that trauma deeply etched into her battered psyche, Ji-won can’t bear the thought of potentially being a homewrecker herself.

As much as I sympathize with Ji-won, I’m really not the biggest fan of this plot point. Yoo-ra’s one-dimensional villainy feels overwrought, and not at all comically entertaining like the antagonists we’ve had so far. Her character feels like a device to heighten the drama for drama’s sake, and while I understand that this is a battle Ji-won needs to fight in order to heal her childhood wounds, I wish we’d gone about it in a more innovative way.

Impatient and maliciously possessive, Yoo-ra mails photos of Ji-hyuk and Ji-won’s pier date — alongside the company stockholders list with Ji-hyuk and Hee-yeon’s names on it — to Min-hwan’s house. The revelation that Ji-won had ditched the subpar Min-hwan for the successful Ji-hyuk downright infuriates Soo-min, and she promptly cooks up a revenge scheme to lash out at Ji-won and extort money from her.

With just a single phone call from Soo-min, Ji-won’s runaway mom is suddenly back in her life. One shopping spree later, Mom reveals her greedy ulterior motives and lets slip that she knows about Ji-hyuk. Having seen this coming, Ji-won tells Mom that she’d simply wanted to experience a mother-daughter date for the first — and last — time.

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

Ji-won may be able to stand up for herself against her mom’s selfish greed and Yoo-ra’s haughty insults, but she won’t let herself covet a man whom she believes is taken. Thankfully, we have Hee-yeon to be the voice of reason for Ji-won. Revealing that she’s actually Ji-hyuk’s half-sister from a different mother, she vouches that Ji-hyuk would absolutely never cheat given his family history.

Then Ji-won finds out Joo-ran’s been diagnosed with stomach cancer, exacerbating her guilt tenfold. She may have successfully foisted Min-hwan off on Soo-min, but now her cancer has made its way to someone she cares about. Devastated by the inadvertent consequences of her actions, Ji-won can’t help but falter, questioning whether she truly deserves to pursue a new life at the expense of others.

Marry My Husband: Episodes 11-12

It’s especially heartbreaking for Joo-ran, who’s just taken two steps forward, one step back. With Ji-won’s encouragement, Joo-ran finally seeks support from her parents, who swiftly cut her selfish sloth of a husband down to size. At long last, she also publicly puts the arrogant Manager Kim in his place.

Unfortunately for Joo-ran, the shadows of Ji-won’s past self aren’t present merely in her disposition, but also in her husband. Seok-joon chances upon Joo-ran’s husband having an affair — cemented through a deadbeat duo parallel with Min-hwan — and when he learns of Joo-ran’s stomach cancer, he can’t help but watch over her out of concern.

Talking about Seok-joon, I love that he’s slowly coming around regarding Ji-hyuk’s feelings for Ji-won. He’s witnessed firsthand how Ji-won’s presence makes Ji-hyuk light up with genuine joy, and upon seeing Ji-hyuk’s unfettered smile for the first time, even Grandpa can’t help but view Ji-won in a new light.

Bent on orchestrating Ji-won’s downfall, Yoo-ra approaches Min-hwan, though we aren’t shown their conversation just yet. As Ji-won drives home, she’s greeted by the infamous Truck of Doom — only for Ji-hyuk to swerve in and intercept its path. That’s the cliffhanger we end on this week, and while I’m not worried about Ji-hyuk’s odds of survival, I am concerned about how Ji-won will fare in the aftermath. She’s already carrying so much misplaced guilt; in her current state, she may withdraw even further.

Notably, Ji-hyuk has been hit by a truck while driving, just like how he’d met his end in the original timeline. So far, it seems like certain events are fated to occur, but the specifics of how they play out can be tweaked. When — not if — he survives this incident, will it count as averting the destined tragedy? Similarly, will Joo-ran be able to avoid terminal cancer through her early diagnosis? One can only hope, and I sure am hoping fervently.

I mean, I think I understand 'why' the accident had to take place, but couldn't they have been a bit more convincing about how it played out? Ji Won was just there, a mile away, waiting and watching, as if she knew the ToD was going to come to her and someone else was going to come in between her and the ToD! She had all the time in the world to avoid the truck.

Episode 11 was already a bit disappointing, but after episode 12, I seriously wondered what the writers were smoking.

Why introduce two more villains when the drama already has some really good villains? Above all, both new villains are just poorly written and cliché. I ended up skipping almost all the scenes with them.

I won't even mention the Truck of Doom.

The airtime could have been used for much better things, e.g. more scenes with Yang Joo-ran and Lee Suk-joon.

Also, I couldn't understand Ji-won's decission to break up. I understand that she has trust issues because of her childhood and experiences, but breaking up because Ji-hyuk has an ex-fiancée is really rubbish.
On the other hand, I would have understood very well if she had wanted nothing more to do with him at the beginning of episode 11 after he had simply pushed her into the corridor and closed the door in her face.

I didn’t understand her reaction to his engagement either. She herself was married in the past life so why was she so bothered that he had an engagement or was married and divorced. What exactly were these two talking about cuddling in their living room until that point?? Smh.

Yeah, and it's not like he's gonna marry her even if Ji-won's not in the picture. So they just want him to stay single his whole life? My husband was also like "why doesn't Gramps just marry her?"

10

@vienibenmio I said out loud to the screen (Grandpa), “then YOU marry her” 😠

I think there are some overlapping times, as they broke off the engagement after Jihyuk confessed to her. It is when Jiwon confront Minhwan in front of the whole office, when Jihyuk has a 'business trip' to Japan

Yeah, she immediately, without explanation, gave up.

He said he could explain, and then he didn't really explain that his ex was a violent psycho and she needed to watch her back. Don't meet with her. If she contacts you, let me know.

She said she doesn't agree with one person giving up on a relationship. Why not?

I've repeatedly seen characters in various dramas express the idea that a couple can't break up unless both consent to it. I don't know if that's what JW is saying - and it doesn't make sense since she's unilaterally broken up with MH.

Lots of things don't make sense. The closest I can get to an explanation is that JW has a horror of being the reason someone dumped someone else.

@solstices ' explanation or perspective on Ji Won's mindset helps makes the break up a bit more understable and tolerable but oh, I still hate it. I really like the inclusion of a woman, who didn't even have feelings for him, coming back into the picture to wreck havoc.

Ugh, the more I think about it, the worse it is. She said he wasn't a man and was apathetic but because he now had someone he was genuinely interested in, he became lively thus attractive and now she wants him to herself. The selfishness at play here is just amazing. Then again, *all* the selfishness is breathtaking.

Like Su Min and Min Hwan are pissed that Ji Won got someone better yet they treated her terribly. Min Hwan didn't even see her as a desirable woman, just a means for a convienent life. Su Min chose to go after Min Hwan.
Everyone is just so terrible.

Nefret, you made me laugh with your comment- " wondered what the writers were smoking".
It's bizarre isnt it when you already have two great, well thought out, 3 dimensional villains. The actors are fabulous, so much so there are times when you can despise them but also feel for them which is really hard to do. Then the show brings in a one dimensional villain who is played by an actor/kpop star who is unable to match the nuanced portrayal of the other actors around her which makes the inclusion of this caricature villain redundant.

The show giveth (Ji-hyuk dropping noble idiocy by the end of ep11), and the show taketh away (Ji-won picking it up in ep12). To make things worse, the disturbed second FL is joined by an even more disturbed THIRD FL. Arrggh!!

Still, I think I can see why the psychotic Yoo-ra has been introduced. It looks like both JW’s cancer and JW’s murder are fated. JW being happy and healthy means that it’s the put-upon Joo-ran who gets the cancer instead. In contrast, Soo-min’s ability to stand up to Min-hwan and MH’s mum means that the fate of being murdered does not get passed on. Since MH and SM’s previous motive for killing JW has been removed by their marriage, Yoo-ra is required to push them into (direct or indirect) action.

That makes SO much sense! Hopefully the drama does a little character musing type of explanation like they did in the second episode so that the viewer is let in on plot points. Otherwise it did feel like the script suddenly veered into makjang territory.

I smell a epic oncoming crash. Episode 12 was such a let down. We did not need a new one dimensional cardboard cutout of a baddie.

Yu -ra is such a bad antagonist that I miss Su-min. She does not make sense. Her presence actually downgrades whole antagonist aura of Min-hwan and Su-min. They just ceased to become their own people and are now henchmen of Yu-ra. What's fun in that? She just sucked all fun out of the show.

We now officially more 'bad' people in the show than 'good' people and when that happens I tend to find watching show just a chore.

UGH. THIS. Su-min is a frightening villain because she skillfully toes the line of wrongness. her behaviors are not so disproportionate to what other bad people would do (even if it's alarming to those who would never do such things). example, what she said to min-hwan about his lies. and her motivations *kind of* makes sense, though i wish we should learn more about her background. yu-ra's motivation is unclear, if not entirely non-existent, and her response is SO over the top. zero to assassination? aren't we missing some steps? the character makes no sense that i'm here on a pseudo-apology tour for our OG villains, who are objectively despicable people. and the idea of them becoming lackeys is so not the move. ugh.

Disappointed that the FL, who previously had shown great growth in confidence and still obviously worried about her co-workers, was so eager to dump the ML when he had told her all along that he was previously engaged and that it was no longer an issue. She obviously didn’t really care that much about him—and no doubt she was irritated at his habit of brushing her hair away from her eyes when she was just trying to chill out watching a silly tug of war variety show.

Yes, as many DB commentators have said, he’s boring, and the dates they went on were boring too, but I identify with boring guys who want to be inert chunks of land.

I was pleased, as I always am, to see a white truck cameo. I'm particularly happy this came late in the show. I love white trucks and the havoc they wreak, but when they appear too early, that means endless replays of cars being spun around or bodies lying in pools of blood to properly stress to viewers that death by white truck is traumatic. Now, hopefully, there will just be one recap replay and the white truck can speed on into other dramas—ALTHOUGH, in Flex X Cop I noticed that they had replaced the white truck with a white SUV, undoubtedly in a cost saving measure. I hope such downsizing doesn’t become widespread!

I was thinking that now the ML got into an accident that will be enough to satisfy his past life accident obligations, but I probably not—white trucks tend to transcend time, escaping the usual rules of time travel, which are so clearly laid out and rigorously followed in this drama .

I admit to having a soft spot for the ML and his 😍iWon JiWon 😍one track mind (pinning and longing and stable land can be sexy) and I’m in the minority who didn’t even find him boring, but like you said clearly the FL does cause she wouldn’t even give him the time of day to explain, when he’s out there intercepting Truck of Dooms for her. So can the accident, if not save him from his fate, instil in him an interest in life outside of Ji Won and maybe make him pick up another hobby or two other than shooting things in the air? Probably not.

Is it really ToD's fault if he drives into a p(l)othole and that causes him to bounce into a character or two?

I'm reminded that in Park Min-young's previous drama, Love in Contract, ToD was disguised as a black van. I do appreciate that - like our FL - he's getting to try on different styles, even if his acting range remains limited.

I noticed in Doctor Slump that the dark colored model didn't have the brakeless/no steering option, and as a result did not up even giving the depressed heroine a slight nudge, failing to complete the intended metaphor.

Whenever I see a lead character avoid a truck, I always think of someone yelling at the truck -- "you had one job, just ONE job, and you couldn't get it done!"

In the several DB discussions of this favorite character, I have never seen a reference to the first truck of doom--the Father Hauler Mauler of them all, so I don't know the history of this trope. When did it first appear, why is it white 90% of the time, etc. Obviously, whenever it does appear, it shows the writer has pretty much run out of original ideas. Unfortunately that often is at the very beginning of the show. At least this one, you can imagine the writer(s) saying to themselves "Jeez, 5 episodes to go. How are we every going to fill up that time? Hey, how about a white truck?"

@hacja, you may have already seen these - ToD's origins may be lost in a miasma of exhaust fumes, but there’s some intriguing backstory here and here.

I was extremely disappointed in Dr. Slump's ToD. Despite the FL doing a perfectly executed full-body centerline slump, and holding that difficult position for many seconds, he still missed her. I hope he's just temporarily overworked and not losing his touch.

The first one I saw was 2000’s Autumn in My Heart but I bet they predate that. It wasn’t long before I started twitching just at the sight of a crosswalk 😬

4

From your first link: "This shows, I hope, that the issue isn’t the Truck of Doom. Truck is only a symptom of a deeper cause: the casting of actors who are too young for their roles on top of the creation of characters who are too young for the jobs they do" Great explanation of the real problem

5

I had seen these, thanks, but there were some good comments on there. Of course everyone's aware of the convenience of the white truck death--it could accidental, purposeful, or ambiguous, but regardless always cause sobbing trauma in memory, even among 35 year olds who witnessed it when they were 3, but my theory about its constant presence is that people are so used to it they tend to chuckle with affection, like I do, without thinking of real deaths. Therefore it can just be like a serial murderer-- you can stick it into rom-coms and no one will bat an eye. I wouldn't be surprised if a REAL white truck, and not one of those with brakes, makes its way from this show into a later episode of Dr. Slump!

1

Long before I started watching Kdramas or even Asian dramas in general, the show The Soup had a feature on Kdramas and how often the characters got hit by busses.

1

Nobody can forget the epic Are You Human Too? where the male lead's human counterpart got hit by a ToD on Prague's Ring Road, truly a logistical feat that speaks to ToDs capacity for strategy and planning.

I often think of poor ToD forced to spend hours going round and round the ring road hoping by some miracle the target will somehow appear at the right time. The stress! But he managed to pull it off. Truly a feat.

And of course the great About Time Double ToD, where ToD took out both those assholes at the same time. Truly a community service.

2

I went and read those pieces for the first time in a long time and had to laugh - I made the exact same comment about the Double ToD in About Time. Almost word for word!

2

That black van was ToD's stunt double!

What makjang drama possessed the writers? Episode 12 considerably dimmed my enjoyment of the drama. I hated the addition of Yura and everything to do with that storyline. And why was Ji Won being so extra, since when are people not allowed to break an arranged engagement one -sidedly? That was such a dumb manufactured drama. Min-Hwan and Su-min were and still are entertaining, complex villains to watch ( the acting also elevates them) but Yura is a stock cartoon villain, like a second female lead from the Kdrama old days of yore. Just annoying, to the point that they’ve ruined Ji Hyuk and Ji Won as a couple for me and I don’t know if the drama can recover. I liked the changes they did to the webtoon so far, but in this instance I wish they had stayed closer to it rather than the webnovel. I will not even comment on the ToD. Hope it was just a hiccup and they can bring it somehow back on track

Episode 12--Seriously? They ruined Ji-Hyuk when he stood there like a statue instead of protecting Ji-Won from the revengeful ex-fiance. Seems that his "innocent & noble & pure love" backstory (always having Ji-Won in his heart, helping Ji-Won stand on solid ground and assisting Ji-Won get her revenge) evaporated. He was all over the place, from slamming the door in Ji-Won's face to spending the night with her.

Can show salvage things for the leads to be happy and together?

I enjoyed this drama more when it was Ji-Won’s revenge and a slow burn românce but Episode 11 was still alright, except it did leave me dumbfounded when he threw her out the door after responding eagerly to the kiss:)) Like that’s cold man, and not the way to ensure her happiness. Ji Won is more foregiving than me cause I wouldn’t have spoken to him again after that stunt. Then again she was equally dumb in episode 12 so I guess they balance each other out *facepalm*

These two episodes made my blood boil. They could just ended it in 12 episodes, but they decided to add a despicable SFL and increase the number of annoying people! And what the hell was wrong with Ji-won that made her break up with Ji-hyeok? What was Ji-hyeok's fault? And what? TRUCK OF DOOM??

I actually kind of like Yoo-ra being introduced as a new fly in the ointment. With her on board, the conflict feels less one-sided and like there is actually a very real threat, rather than just Min-hwan and Soo-min playing checkers while they think they're playing chess.

I'm frustrated that Ji-won was so quick to dump Ji-hyeok (he was engaged but he broke up with her! He's not gonna marry her even if he isn't with you. So you just want him to stay single? Same to you, Gramps. Also, why doesn't Gramps just marry her?) He, like, lured a stomach cancer specialist to Korea for you!

I was hoping that the drama would tone down the webcomic's makjang elements and even change the fate of some of the characters. Unfortunately, I don't think it seems that will be happening.

I actually felt really sorry for Soo-min during the wedding. She just wants so badly to be loved. Like I said, I think I'm not cut out for revenge stories because, for me, it always starts to feel too much like punching down. She needs therapy, not revenge.

The mom storyline felt really unnecessary? My husband was even like, what is this scene for? What is the purpose of this?

I continue to find Ji-won's outfits work inappropriate and make her stick out like a sore thumb. I also think she did far too much of a 180 from a shy, dowdy girl to someone who looks like she's in The Devil Wears Prada. Even if you die and come back to life, it's not like you would immediately feel comfortable wearing outfits like that, especially at work. I know I wouldn't.

Hui-yeon is my ray of sunshine. I just love her.

I think that’s why Su Min and Min Hwan work so well as villains. They’re bad and misguided and self serving but also there’s moments when they are pitiful and even sympathetic. They’re not just your run of the mill pure evil villain, but rather complex ones. And that makes them fun to watch and why many of us find the addition of Yura so jarring. In another life and after a lot of hours of therapy I could’ve seen Su-Min and Min-Hwan having a redemption arc.

I hear you re work outfits. I mean it's ridiculous how short the dresses and skirts are becoming, I wouldn't think they are suitable at all for office attire and the heels are becoming higher as well and at times it just looks uncomfortable when walking. The clothes are so high end fashion, they really stand out from the other office workers they are almost like another character in themselves. Is it meant to be some kind of makjang joke?

It isn't the introduction of Yu-ra that is the problem. This potentially could have been a great plot point showing how Ji-won had developed confidence a result of her time travel and new success--and just as Ji-hyuk had been her support to escape the deadly relationship, so she would be by his side as he extricated himself from Yu-ra's clutches. But instead, for reasons that are inexplicable to me, the writers had Ji-won dump him, really seriously casting doubt on the depth of her affection. Yes, he was an idiot in his attempt to deny his own affection for her and push her away, but otherwise he's done everything for her, INCLUDING setting up Joo-ran with the best doctor AND blocking the white truck from its appointed task.

She just throws that all away because, why--he was in a relationship before? I'm really not sure why at this point I should be rooting for her, in fact, I'm not. I'm now hoping Su-min gets a redemption arc.

i agree with you. i could understand the introduction of yu-ra if it allowed us to see ji-won's growth in how she handles adversity. rather than shrink, she would take up space. instead, she somewhat regressed by dumping Ji-hyuk at the first sign of a threat. by now, I would have expected her to know how to neutralize such threats against her happiness. her doubling down on self pity was kind of disappointing, even if she stood up to yu-ra at lunch.

I honestly felt kinda betrayed by episode 12. Granted I've only been watching for the past couple of weeks but based on what I saw and the weecaps, I liked the changes the drama made. I thought this was an adaptation done right! And then I'm hit with a jealous, possessive sociopath, a needless break up, and a truck of doom. Are you kidding me? Why? Why did this need to happen?
Was there seriously no other way to extend Ji Won and Ji Hyuk's arcs without this particular monkey wrench?

Superficially, I don't like the way Yu Ra looks so that made it even more annoying to have to keep seeing her. She legit reminds me of cartoon villians (and I say this as someone who watchs cartoons haha)

I was thinking could they have not just gone along with the webtoon for this part rather than this murder for hire/she stole my man/Ji Won betrayed all of us thing?

Ahh, I'm so disappointed and annoyed that I kinda don't even wanna watch the next episode.

I don't know which wedding crash was worse (as in worse for the characters), the webtoon or the drama but the second hand embarrassment is real for both haha. It was mortifying to imagine having something like that happen on your wedding day in front of a large group of people haha

But I did like how she outed Su Min for marrying Ji Won's ex haha. That part was very satisfying haha.

I was wondering what the HR guy was planning on doing his knowledge of Yang's husband.

Ugh, these husbands are so trash. It's so frustrating that their wives are tethered to them. I feel so sad for these women.

In times like these, we need the sunshine that is Hui Yeon but didn't get enough of her or of her hanging out with the chef.

Su min must be delusional to think that jiwon dumped min hwan on her. All jiwon did was manufacture events so that the two of them spent more time together. But the actual seduction and cheating was all sumin. Then how does she have the audacity to get angry at jiwon when she's responsible for her own messed up life? I know she has some issues but still it made me so angry to watch those scenes. Just those. I haven't even watched the rest of the episode.

Ji-won had a clear 38 seconds before the impact with Ji-hyuk's car, and 40 seconds before the impact would have gotten to hers had it not veered off, - to make a decision and she just stayed there frozen looking like a doe or is it a deer in the hindsight. I'm not going to make any excuse about she being too shocked to react cause it doesn't make sense. It is arrant nonsense and the dumbest thing I've seen this year.

About Joo-ran. They better not have her take up Ji-won's life from the first timeline. It was always known to us both then and now that her husband was a no good man. The only thing we didn't know was his being a cheat. So I hope they do not draw a parallel with Joo-ran. I'll be so mad if they do. The woman already has a lot on her plate that she has to take up and live with the repetition of Ji-won's trash. If the drama maintains the direction they are going with the rules of the time travel, I'm sorry but I can already predict how this will end and it is not going to be palatable at all. They could have just gone Go Back Couple route, using death as the vehicular movement for the time travel. And then they let the actions they take in this timeline effect the original one. I understand that sometimes, going back in time creates new victims(My Perfect Stranger), but they should have just left Joo-ran at that(the new victim), instead of adding Ji-won's stomach cancer and cheating husband to the mix. Her husband is already trash. Why add trash to trash?
They better use that trash they've added to effect their divorce.

That kiss though. Man! It was fire. Pure fire. Until Ji-hyuk ruined my first two minutes of episode 11. I really wish that this people let it settle in that they can have a chance at happiness too. I know his status makes it a dream that is unattainable but he is going to become chairman one day. I hope he doesn't tow the line of his father and the thoughts of his grandfather who has once again crossed from unlikeable to likeable and back to unlikeable.

If there's something I loved about Ji-hyuk this week, it is how the steered the conversation with Ji-won in the boardroom. He first explained the situation clearly to her and heard her feedback. It was only after it was clear they had finished talking about Yu-ra that he gave her the doctor's appointment he had booked in advance. Color me besotted when I'm given male leads who are selfless in this particular manner. It raises the bar so high for me and I'm officially on team Ji-hyuk - bland or not. He has finally won me over with his selfless act. Well, that kiss was another but he missed it when he prematurely truncated it.

Seok-joon sitting all alone at the bar during Joo-ran's celebratory outing was not easy to watch at all. You guys should include him in instead of keeping him at arm's length. But then...he's HR so I understand why they're having him at alternating seats. Joo-ran pouring him a glass softened things BTW.

Episodes 11 & 12 were a wild ride. It feels like the plot just crashed into the viewers without warning!

Ji-Won: I'm angry that Ji-Won didn't "stand by her man" and help Ji-Hyuk extract himself from his past mistake: eveil woman Yu-Ra. And another thing: it seemed unbelievable that Ji-Won would play along with the Mother-Daughter shopping trip, courtesy of Su-Min.

Ji-Hyuk: I'm disappointed that Ji-Hyuk has shown himself to be on Ji-Won's side for 10 episodes, then slams the door in her Ji-Won's face in episode 11 plus avoids protecting Ji-Won from the wrath of Yu-Ra in episode 12.

Time-travelers: Just how many people are "re-visiting" the past in 2013? Seems that Lee-Suk-Joon could be a visitor from the future. Wonder if Yu-Ra is, too? This drama seems to be on cheater-plot overload so those seeking revenge could be anywhere!

MMH universe: Because this is a fantasy, it seems that the rules are for the "bad things" in Ji-Wn's life go to other people. So, when do the "bad things" from Ji-Hyuk's life go to someone else? Exactly what are the "bad things" in his life besides being engaged to a manipulative, possessive witch? Why didn't he work out his revenge on Yu-Ra by getting her engaged/married to someone else equally deserving? Or does his heart tattoo prevent him from changing his own past--is he only there for Ji-Won? Why doesn't he play the "long game" of TEN YEARS to live--don't they both get to live at least until the day they died in 2023?

Coming soon: Will the dose of "be careful what you wish for" revenge end with recemption? Episodes 13-16, please don't crash and burn!

The ginger cat: Kitty Pang--or his doppelganger-- remained unscathed or absent in the latest traffic accident. Wonder which of his 9 lives Pang is on?

I've been wondering about Seok-joon, too, with him saying JH seems to be really living "for the first time." But I also always wonder if subtitles are misdirecting us.

It's probably a good thing that the internal rules of this fantasy are being kept vague - it has made the show's failure to respect them less blatant, but the inconsistencies are starting to be more obvious.

Episode 11 still had some of the delicious vengeance of previous weeks. As for episode 12, PPL is on point: coffee-flavored candy with protein salmon chips as a chaser captures the flavor perfectly. 😖 Having been warned by beanies about the mess ahead, I actually enjoyed watching the show suddenly throw a dozen farcical makjang tropes into the blender and churn out this unpalatable glop. Seok-joon is my hero this week, reminding the good-guy team that pettiness can be a superpower. Soo-min’s presence being reduced takes away most of the fun, and Yoo-ra is a terrible substitute. Can we transfer the truck’s attention to her? She’s just made of cardboard anyway so no real characters will be harmed.

PPL: Would Ji-Won eat the salmon chips if they weren't sent by Ji-Hyuk? I thought it was odd that was why she ate them. I bet Pang the ginger-cat would have eaten them no matter who gave them to him!

PPL missed opportunities: trash disposal for Su-Min, fever thermometer for Ji-Won, luxury bag re-sale websites for mom & Su-Min, automatic braking for obstacles feature in vehicles for Ji-Hyuk

I am really enjoying this show. I look forward to it every week and it makes me laugh.
Yes, JH is bland. Tall, dorky, and handsome. Also kind and caring and forward thinking. (Stomach cancer doctor! Who has been told to keep one space free always!)
Yes, JW is stupid for rejecting JH so much. But JW has major trauma from unfaithful spouses. Her mum alone would cause her to be wary, but then her husband murdered her! JW is having an emotional reaction to Jura, she is not using her brain at all, and that's what happens when you are hurt badly.
Yes, there is an episode worth of PPL in this weeks episodes, and that always makes the story drag a bit. Some of the PPL is not as obvious if you are out--of-Korea, I'm sure. Things like the shopping scene, which I think was an ad for the products available at Authentique.
Yes, the accident was stupid, but I think next week we are going to get backstory about why it was so stupid. JH and JW knew that accident was going to happen, and they planned for it. JH doing that will expose Juras plots, and also prove his love to JW. It will also fufill the murder arc for SM and MH, meaning that the murder will Not get transferred to Joo-ran.
Jw has already been concerned that the rest of her fate will go to Joo-ran, so that is JW's motivation with going along with the silly TOD plot. And SJ will take care of exposing the cheating husband on his own I think.

PPL notes: Firstly, I have a admission to make. I actually thought the show had made up the brand 'Authentique' (as a way to avoid the cost of using actual designer labels - Chanel, Prada, Gucci, etc) because I couldn't believe any brand would have a name that lame and because everything looked like a rip off of a more famous designer. More fool me.

Secondly, I have a perverse response to some PPL. For instance, I have decided that KOPIKO the coffee flavoured sweets that so often make a super clunky appearance in our K-Dramas, must be absolutely AWFUL. My rationale is that if it tasted good, they wouldn't need to flog it like a dead horse. I suspect it also makes your breath smell like a dead horse (this is pure speculation on my part, don't come for me Kopiko lawyers!)

Huh, well after a small amount of research it looks like you are correct. The only Korean 'Authentique' I can find is for skin cream. which is sucky because I wanted to be able to blame that scene on someone who was not the writer!
I can get Kopiko here if I look for it. It's not awful, it tastes like very sweet coffee- so its an energy drink in a boiled lolly. That's why after they suck one they say things like 'oh I feel energised/awake/able to concentrate' I'm sure that what they say are actually known catchphrases from Kopiko ads, but different translators give slightly different subtitles.

While I agree that Ji-Won breaking up with Ji-Hyuk for having a fiancee is frustrating, I am more willing to accept it under the rationale that she's getting hit with a lot of info about how her return to the past is having unintended repercussions. Like her cancer passing to Joo-Ran. I think she's legitimately spooked by the idea that her happiness might be hurting someone else. Remember, she doesn't (yet) know what an awful person Yoo-Ra is. Not saying this is a perfect or completely convincing justification, just that I think it's in the mix.

Rant aside, her villain character is so fun to hate😜

Yoo Ra's introduction is a letdown given her typical villain personality.. haven't we had enough of these rich drama queens claiming their right to men because their pride was hurt?😒😒
